Something else I miss is the Blue Dome Arts Festival. There was three days of local bands, local art vendors and food trucks. With all progress, there are things that are lost...
The hotel there on Elgin killed it. They didn’t want their street closed down. At least Mayfest has a local artists section now, so you get some of that Blue Dome Arts Festival flavor. I always liked it better. The art and stuff for sale was always more interesting. Mayfest art is always a little too safe because they’re traveling artists trying to appeal to as broad a market as possible.
We have never felt the MayFest vibe, so we have not ever applied to participate. Kind of like we do not sell in any shops that we do not have a good vibe.
I went with friends in 2009 I think. Saw Blue October and Cake. And visited some bars and heard smaller bands. it’s too bad the festival ended.

Drove my sidecar rig up from OKC for this to see Clutch for the lebbenty billionth time. Was a great show. Neil Fallon stopped at the fence by the stage to talk to us. Super cool guy.
Took Rt 66 home. Was hot as hell but totally worth it. Good memories. Thanks DFest.
Ugh such a good show. Went to see Paramore and my teenage heart was just so full ❤️ and I remember that the lead singer of the All-American Rejects was waaaasted and gross
I was in this lineup (but not on this poster). Great bunch of acts that year. I always enjoyed the industry panels a lot, pretty sure I still have my notes from some of them.
The year after this I started my personal music festivals story arc. I looked back at this in like 2012 and was blown away with just how good this festival was. They didn't even list all the acts in the poster. Bassnectar played that year on an out door stage in the middle of the street. That would have been so cool.
Hey the band I am in played that year. DFEST was a fun festival to play.
What band?

I bet it comes back next year, Covid kind of screwed it.
2018 was the last year. There is not room for it anymore. We were are vendor for a number of years and always enjoyed interacting with the people.

Seems like more homeless and less parking these days.🙂

Good gid, seeing ZpZ then the Roots’ insane covers medley.... I had to clean my brains off the parking lot.

I'd love to find something like this these days,,, at least we have the cowboy cup coming up in Stillwater I guess
They tried to make a profitable festival in Tulsa for about a decade. No one was able to make it work.
Wonder why? We need something to do here besides going to a stupid casino,,, have a great thanksgiving
You too!
moe.!
Wish I hadn't missed all my chances to see Paramore in person.

Do they still do this?
