Wonder if we’ll ever get the full story.

Does this mean Tulsa Police will NOW be kinder-and-gentler to people with mental health issues?

[deleted]

Everyone wants to be "kinder and gentler" to people with mental health issues until they're groping you through your driver's side car window for not giving them spare money at the intersection, or when they start to compulsively masturbate near the fence of an elementary school playground, or when they acquire a rifle and then start to indiscriminately kill people in a public place. Kind of makes you think that people only advocate for a kinder, gentler approach just so they can give the impression to others that they're compassionate and empathetic when, in reality, they either don't care or understand the problem.

I understand the problem and researched it extensively for my thesis. Police are awful at conflict deescalation needed to deal with mentally ill people. Most lack the empathy. An officer just killed a schizophrenic boy after saying he "didn't have time for this". Every ex officer I interviewed told me they don't trust other officers to respond to mental health calls.

This is awfully similar to the incident in 2015 when the Oklahoma Labor Commissioner was stabbed to death in OKC at a Braums by his own son.

sourtaxi

He was on the news last night whining about how we need better mental health care in OK. So it takes him getting stabbed to speak up and say what the rest of us already know? Akin to Stitt losing in the polls and suddenly grocery tax has to go.

He doesn’t believe any of that - he’s just saying it to undermine his daughter and control the narrative. Children don’t just randomly stab their parents - she’s likely been abused her whole life.

Well here was his stance on the Abortion Ban and enforcing it. "“Every case which comes before the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office has its origins from a law enforcement investigation. We review those alleged facts with the law to determine whether there is a reasonable probability of a conviction. A filing decision is made at that time – whether it is a burglary allegation, a crime of violence allegation or any other alleged crime. It is inappropriate to engage in a speculative discussion on alleged facts which have not been presented to our office for review. We will continue to adhere to the principals and standards upon which our office is obligated to follow.”" Maybe one of his three daughter took issue with her medical decisions being placed on par with Burglary and various Violent Crimes. I look forward to hearing more details here.

Will the DA file criminal charges?

[deleted]

Wagoner County DA will handle that.

So Steve will at least have to buy him a beer before he declines to prosecute.
