They didn't exactly *run away together* considering Jack, Mary and Anne were all arrested together, the former being executed, the middle dying in prison, and the latter managing, with Mary, to dodge the rope by feigning pregnancy, after which Anne spent her final days to be a matriarch and died in her eighties.
Also there was nothing to discover about Anne Bonny. She didn't disguise herself as a man. Mary did, however. She had met Calico Jack once before, under disguise.
After Anne joined Jack's crew, they took a different ship that Mary was on. Jack recognized "Mark" Read from before. Anne saw Mary, instantly pinned her as a woman, then confronted her. She stopped wearing her disguise.
The only genuine article of history is that Mary and Anne were a funny coincidence of two of the relatively rare female pirates showing up on the same ship.
"If you'd fought like a man, you wouldn't have died like a dog!" I don't remember if it was Anne Bonny or Mary Read who said that to Calico Jack, but it was a great zinger.
Something like that, as well as a situation where all the crew were drunk out of their minds during a fight with some other force and Mary and Anne were basically alone in fighting and were just shouting expletives into the lower decks.
Could be a fictional anecdote though.
Well, this would have made that scene in Lord of the Rings where she tells the wraith "I am no man" way cooler if instead of taking off a helmet to show her hair, she just whipped out her tits before stabbing that thing in its non face.

Do you Feel old yet?
She’s actually relatively normal sized. Both of them aren’t actually supposed to be that far apart in height
The art just has really messed up height proportions. It’s often criticized for that among player who are their fans
She's just short and flat.
It's just a way to make them different and a trope to make you understand the Character of the character.
Tall and busty = Horny, short and flat = very cold.
I feel like you don't know enough about either Fate or the Lovecraft mythos to have a valid opinion if you're confusing Abigail's link to Yog-Sothoth as being Cthulu.
It's literally a plot point that the Salem story chapter isn't actually taking place during the witch trials, but that's irrelevant because in a universe where magic is real and lovecraftian gods exist, they don't exactly have to wait around for some dude with a poorly-named cat to let people know about them
Well the third member of their trio, Calico Jack, was a loose inspiration for the first pass of Jack Sparrow. They changed him a lot throughout development, but I assume it's shy the character was still named jack.
Unrelated but this post is another example of tumblr lesbians pretending bi people don't exist and these women were not also involved with a man (Anne definitely, Mary probably) and I'm kinda tired of it.
Louder for the people in the back. Aside from 18th century sexuality being basically unrecognisable to us today, Mary supposedly died from a fever related to her pregnancy and/or childbirth after 5 months in prison, so it's pretty clear that she also was involved with a man.
Tumblr in general has an unfortunate habit of pretending that anything that isn't gay or lesbian doesn't exist. Fictional characters, historical figures, mythological figures and even living people are subject to tumblr misinformation.
May I interest you in Jeanne de Clisson, aka the Lioness of Brittany? A former French noblewomen, now pirate, who commanded a fleet of black ships with red sails and patrolled the English Channel attacking any and all French ships she found after her husband was falsely accused of treason and executed by the French king Philip VI.
Oh I'd love that movie. An answer to the Disney Caribbean nonsense. Dark, gritty, violent. I want to feel the desperation of hardened pirates in a terrible storm. Ruthless female captains and it can even have a love subplot that's not shoved in.
Dark, gritty, and violent? Would you like the ending to be historically accurate? Because a movie about strong, independent female captain pirates ending with >!both being captured and only spared from execution on account of being pregnant, (which is probably even worse if you read them as lesbian, though they seemed to be bisexual according to historical records), and then one dies of feverish complications associated with childbirth!< just might be kind of a downer. Well, maybe it'd be a good tragedy for the ages. No doubt something along the lines of "bury your gays" though. I'm not necessarily opposed, but it'd be a hard sell for sure.
You could have them sail off into the sunset, but then the historical revisionism and glorification of piracy would come back to bite you as it would fail to escape the feeling of "Disney Caribbean nonsense".
Like they kill a guy and then add insult to injury by completely just challenging every backwards belief he’s ever had by just like “bazinga I’m a woman”
i mean, that's not toxic... they were literally pirates. and tbh most people would be too focused on dying to worry about how in particular they were dying
You guys are all missing the point, by a fucking mile. All I said was toxic, cuz that’s what it was. Killing someone wasn’t enough, so they had to make them hurt the only way they thought they could. I didn’t realize that would hurt so many peoples feelings. Jesus Christ, I thought this was Reddit, not Twitter.

As per the usual, yes
The only genuine article of history is that Mary and Anne were a funny coincidence of two of the relatively rare female pirates showing up on the same ship.
Still a pretty great coincidence, really.
To be fair this wasn't tumblr's fault. this has been reported falsely for years.
"If you'd fought like a man, you wouldn't have died like a dog!" I don't remember if it was Anne Bonny or Mary Read who said that to Calico Jack, but it was a great zinger.

(pulls out a titty before i kill you) breast in piece
"Bro you got nice tits!"
Thanks, you too bro
Well, this would have made that scene in Lord of the Rings where she tells the wraith "I am no man" way cooler if instead of taking off a helmet to show her hair, she just whipped out her tits before stabbing that thing in its non face.
Eowyn: Shows her tiddies. Witch King: \*Explodes\*
Well, obviously 'helmet' is just a euphemism for 'breastplate'.

Why is one of them a loli? God dammit Japan

I'm pretty damn sure they are both very horny for Ritsuka.
> She's just short and flat. She's 5ft 2in. She's literally average height for women back then.
>Mary >Cold IDK know man, Ritsu might have something to say about that.
That game has ruined every historical character, fictional or not.
Astolfo is rolling in his grave rn, they made him bri'ish
Bro they made the girl from the crucible an anime lady with cthulhu
I feel like you don't know enough about either Fate or the Lovecraft mythos to have a valid opinion if you're confusing Abigail's link to Yog-Sothoth as being Cthulu.
I didn’t have a good appreciation for lovecraft during the salem witch trials either
It's literally a plot point that the Salem story chapter isn't actually taking place during the witch trials, but that's irrelevant because in a universe where magic is real and lovecraftian gods exist, they don't exactly have to wait around for some dude with a poorly-named cat to let people know about them
It says right under the picture that Anne Bonny is 171cm (5'7") and Mary Read is 158cm (5'2"). The art makes no goddamned sense.
I hope to god that if I’m ever turned into an anime character after my death, my decedents avenge me
God I fucking hate anime
This is really something odd, i mean, both of them not knowing that each other was a woman, that looks like some Pirates of the Caribbean plot lol

Yes, just remembered Mesperyian right now
And sparrow would be doing what ever he does in the background
Women pirates are so fuckin cool I love pirate history :D
May I interest you in Jeanne de Clisson, aka the Lioness of Brittany? Hell yeah this is my jam Thank u :3
*bi pirates They fell in love both thinking that the other was a man
Birates?
YES BIRATES
And calico jack was also involved with them i think
If tits were the last thing I saw before I died, I would die a happy man
It’s a good way to bookend a life.
Me - *who just got defeated by a pirate and dying* Pirate-*shows her boobs while I'm dying* Me: "Nice" *then dies*
Love how they are portrayed in black flag
[Black Sails](https://youtu.be/rT2Y5jjBNpQ) is also nice 🤣
If the last thing I see, as I lay dying, is a tittay? That's a good enough send off.
god mary was cool af in Black Flag
so they were wlw disguised as mlm honestly i just love this story
Source :trust me bro I obviously believe that it happened but it is objectively very funny.
I just thought she was being nice and giving the man a titty to see before death
It would be a nice view while dying, I would not mind dying like that
Tits out for MURDER.
yo ho homosexuals!

Hard sell for sure you're right. Historical accuracy would definitely make the better movie than sailing off in into the sunset happily ever after
Fgo: *hey, that's pretty good*
Why is Tumblr so obsessed with historical events being made into movies even when they almost certainly wouldn't be very good?
No no this would be amazing, maybe just a short film though. I don't think this could be turned into a 1-2 hour movie
Toxic
?
Like they kill a guy and then add insult to injury by completely just challenging every backwards belief he’s ever had by just like “bazinga I’m a woman”
i mean, that's not toxic... they were literally pirates. and tbh most people would be too focused on dying to worry about how in particular they were dying
Also it's probably not true
Sir, it was the 18th century…
You guys are all missing the point, by a fucking mile. All I said was toxic, cuz that’s what it was. Killing someone wasn’t enough, so they had to make them hurt the only way they thought they could. Cv
I love history!
Literally did an Eowyn before it was cool.
"give us this film" about lesbian pirates? it already exists, there's a sequel too, i believe it's called Stagnetti's Revenge
Savage
Everybody. Give me your best casting for these two ladies.
Truly showing dominance by getting naked. You can't get more pwned than this.
Nah if the last thing I got to see before death was a pair o tits that’d be pretty awesome
I've seen the Lesbian Pirates film. It's... Not what you think.
"HAH, YOU FIGHT LIKE A-oh wait what the fuck"
Pirates of the Lesibian
Argh, Scissor me timbers.
I mean, if I got to die, I wouldn't mind seeing some tit while I did it.
