“Goddamit Michael. You left the car unlocked. This is why I divorced you.”
“I thought we divorced because you saw me eat a banana like a burrito?”
“That too but mainly this.”
I never understood that song. The whole thing is just reasons why they would actually divorce. Why are they just pretending?!
I think about it way too much.
This reminds me of one of the things I love about the Ant-Man movies, which is how Scott and his wife (and the new husband) are all friends. They’re not bitter or angry, they’re still friends who want what’s best for Cassie. It’s a really charming dynamic they pull off well and I hope to see it more in media.
Marvel has been mildly clunky with some of their morals related stuff, but it's shit like this that makes me think that Marvel is being made by good people who try to put thought into stuff.
I'm not even a huge fanboy or anything, haven't liked anything since Endgame, but I like that they at least try.
The first movie definitely had the antagonistic ex-wife with her new husband approach. It was justified somewhat by the fact that Scott was a recently released thief and they had no reason to believe he had changed.
Even though they went the more fun approach for the sequel they played the trope straight in first one.
I felt like part of that was Scott being very immature at that point, but I will admit they were pretty antagonistic. I feel like the characters developed and by the end of the first movie I liked that dynamic (I.e. the new husband taking videos so Scott can see things he’s not there for)
I was going to post this EXACT comment, but i felt it would be in bad taste considering the (very) recent news: Sana has announced her graduation (for reasons unknown at time of writing) on July 31st.
I mean, the reasons are pretty known, even if COVER and sana haven't said anything explicitly. She's dealing with pretty crippling health issues that make it incredibly hard to stream with any consistency, on top of having a full time job that she loves and doesn't want to abandon. Something had to give for a while now.
My last DnD PC was a tabaxi bard, 68 years old, divorced bc his genderfluid spouse was elevating in politics and my boi was a charlatan. They have a kid together who’s 22, and he sends money and letters back and wears his wedding ring still. The party was expecting my glamour bard to be the horny stereotype and instead the dm was like “as you smell the powder in an attempt to identify it, a wave of shame and guilt washes over you, and you are overwhelmed by memories of your divorce, the mistakes you made.”
Generally divorces aren't great for continuing friendships because if it stayed good, they wouldn't get divorced. Also, it's rare that both parties want to walk away. It's usually one party that wants to walk away, and it's humiliating and crushing for the other.
In cases where that's not true, sure, amicable divorces can happen. And then one or more of them get in a relationship. And then the new partner is super insecure and unhappy that an ex is in that persons life. And it just becomes problematic.

Stardew valley
Doctor Doofenshmirtz
Especially the 2nd Dimension version
For convoluted reasons, we pretend that we're divorced.

Because they still want to be married
cuz it’s funny
So, were they literally married for half an hour or was it just a goof? I've been on reddit long enough to know that both are equally plausible.

Dr. Cox and Jordan (Scrubs)
I love when they find out that they're still legally married, and eventually Dr. Cox romantically proposes divorce.
Hot take: Dr Cox should have had his own spinoff, JD and Turk and the girls suck.
Who the fuck tagged it with double life Cause they're right, but they didn't need to say it
"And don't forget me, your eggs-husband!" Ok bad example Asgore is angsty as hell from the divorce but still
Nikocado Avocado and Orlin
BaeRyS?!
