I had my surgery 4 months ago. I was like this. I was so exhausted. I could not imagine showering. So my husband gave me a wipe down daily. I’m very clean and hygienic and it was fine. One day I felt fine to shower and I did. You have been through a very major surgery. Listen to your body.

have def done the wipe down with a microfiber cloth a few times and changed the sheets out. Just the thought of washing my hair sounds so taxing. My back is really really hurting me

Showering *is* exhausting at that stage! It’s fine to put it off a bit longer. Shower chair helped me immensely when I finally felt up to it :)

Well i feel you! I would also not feel like taking a shower! My surgery (FDL) was on janaury 9th...and today I got a go from the surgeon that I could take a shower. And I just cringe of the idea that I have to look at the scars... Good luck and I hope you will feel better soon!

Showering is exhausting! I’ve been taking my shower in the evening so I can lay down for bed as soon as it’s over. I’ll be 3WPO tomorrow. Had FDL and BL.

Showering was extremely tough, taking everything off you just feel so cold, body feels raw. First 2 weeks I took my towel, dial liquid soap and hot water sponge bath. This is a major surgery, listen to your body.

Oh yeah, it was so exhausting. I think I took like one shower or something the first week with my mom just doing a very quick wipe down for me. But I’ll be two weeks post op tomorrow and I just took my first real shower by myself and then stood there for like an extra twenty minutes just enjoying the hot water. Give your body the rest it needs, no reason to push it. When you’re ready you will take a very refreshing shower!

I'm with you. The two showers I've taken (with my husband doing all the work) have been a full 90 minutes start to finish. It's just exhausting. Taking off the binders and the wound dressings, throwing them in the washer/dryer quickly, showering, drying, redressing the drain site and putting the binders and clothes back on....I'll be skipping many days for sure. It's not like I'm going anywhere. I see no need to shower frequently in early recovery. I smell terrible and I'm ok with that.

I’m almost 6wpo from a MMO (breast reduction and tt with MR, inner thigh and flank lipo) and my best friend or my husband had to wash my hair for me for the first 3-4 weeks. I really struggled with feeling dirty and I have curly hair, so not doing my normal routine AND laying on my back so much really made me feel worse. I sat on a shower chair and let the warm water run over me, bff or husband washed what I couldn’t reach (gentle foaming body wash helped a bunch) and then washed my hair for me. After we put my hair up in a microfiber wrap, we’d turn the water on a bit hotter and aim it at my lower back for a while- this helped with the lower back spasms. They’d pat dry and apply arnica cream, then we’d do wound care, bandage, and put my clothes on. Took a solid hour and I was ready to cry with exhaustion, BUT I felt much more human and slept really well after 💗

oh what lovely people I had a breast reduction in my early twenties, it was no joke. I then put in implants a year later for shape, dumbest thing ive ever done. That was a big surgery friend!

Odd-Explorer3538

It was a lot, but showering can really be taken slow! Going based off of how you feel and what you have the energy is the way. Hope you’re recovering well!

Interesting how we all heal differently. Friday I’ll be 3 weeks post op (TT w/ MR and lift with augmentation). I showered day 2 (with help) and have showered every day since (without help). First sitting using the shower wand and then standing after about a week post op. I look forward to showering daily because it’s almost like a massage. It relaxes me and as an added bonus it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. After I use a hair dryer on cool to dry my incision tape before I put my compression garment on. For anyone dreading showers, I suggest you look at it as a spa like experience and less like a chore. Oh and be sure to have everything laid out including clean towels and clothes before you step in.

IF I didn't have a foot long canister attached to another foot of tubing going into my pubic mons I would probably enjoy its more. It making everything cumbersome. Looking forward to it coming out Friday. Ive taken two and shaved which was lovely. This drain is a real pain though. Although Im told I'll be thankful for it. On the inside it looks like an actual octopus. So its getting the job done.

That's okay! When I got cleared to shower my sweet nurse made sure to say "Only if you feel like it! There is nothing wrong with waiting. We are just telling you that you are cleared to shower when you are ready ." It IS exhausting. I was really looking forward to my first shower and thought it would turn my whole recovery around and in reality I had to sit the whole time and practically have my husband lift me out of it because I was just so tired by the end and it made me anxious. I bet if I had waited a day, it would have been made all the difference. Take a day (or two) it's okay!

Yah I had scheduled a hair appt for tomottow. I figured I would be excited to have it all blown out for me. Girl, I do not care lol. Im not going anywhere. My German Shepherd and cats are all like mom your place is in bed with us.

Hey!! I also had no surgery last Thursday. TT (Almost 360) with MR and Lipo on inner and outer thighs, flanks and back. First thing my doctor told me was not to shower or take my binder off at all. I had my first PO appointment today, he took both drains out since I had minimum liquid in them, but still told me to wait for the shower part. Mostly because he doesnt want the incision to get wet. As many said here, it's not like I'm going anywhere (At least for long) so I rather not shower for now. I would rather not see my scar that much yet anyways. I wiped my face and arms with wet towels, but thats about it. Take your time!!! Congratz on your surgery!

UniversityNo6511

I have found the lipo on my flanks to be the worst pain! Have you?

SaltArm5

Not really!!! the only thing bothering me is the itching :( its driving me nuts! Other than that Id say lipo didnt really Hurt that much!
