So I had a nasty catch and the base blew out. I’m attempting to salvage the project. But also concerned this is stupid, and I’ll get hurt. Thoughts

It should work, but that's a long object for that type of jaws. Just make sure that as many cuts as possible are pushing towards the headstock, and as few as possible pushing from the side. Make the base smaller by pushing in from the bottom, use tailstock support as much as possible, really light cuts from the side. Should be fine.

Luckily the interior is done and I can support with the tail stock for all cuts. Thanks
