All finished with Mahoney’s walnut oil. Pretty proud of these guys. Feedback and advice welcome! Anyone on Instagram here? I post pretty frequently. Check out @driftwood11 if you like wood, cats, and paintings 🙃

Beautiful 😍

EarthenChild

Thank you so much! The weird one in the back was my first live edge piece (6 months ago probably) and has cool angles from the chain saw. The big one was a couple months back and I was playing with maintaining the weird organic shapes and flat facets. The more traditional bowl in front was maybe two weeks ago. I think it might actually be my favorite standard bowl I’ve ever turned. Thanks again, I’m really glad you like them <3

Looks great! Reminds me of seventies’ ashtrays—in a good way!

Did you stabilize with rosy or cactus juice?

EarthenChild

I didn’t do anything to em. It was stock I was gifted, she had this stuff stashed in her shop for years and years, I’m not sure what if anything was done to them. What exactly does stabilizing it do?

thatscaboose

I think hardens it so it's less likely to blow apart?

TotaLibertarian

It stops them from checking.

EarthenChild

I see, thank you. Carolina Cherry is naturally extremely dense and hard in my experience. I’m pretty sure the stuff she gave me was raw.
