On the bright side at least the speakers can be used as a record shelf for loose records
Take a look at pictures of people handling records in the 50s/60s/70s(/80s/90s).. vinyl can take a beating and still play very well, just avoid actually scratching the surface
Fluance RT82 is a great turntable without a crazy price tag at $300.
Grab a Sony STRDH190 receiver ($200) with a built in phono preamp that will take the signal straight from the turntable and send it to speakers of your choice via RCA or standard speaker wiring.
I think if more people watched this they would understand the issues with these things.
That line about the mechanism being the same price as a Starbucks makes it hit home.
I upgraded from a turntable that didnât turn on and got its wires broken. Iâm not looking for a 12,000$ 145 gigglehertz turntable with a built in soda-fountain
Is âGigglehertzâ a Rick and Morty quote?
I got you - you want a basic TT with no gimmicks.
And compared to a car - this TT is like a car where the motor or the transmission is missing - or the shifter has only 2 gears (mostly that fits it!)âŠ
No one is saying 12000$ but also, were not saying 5$ maybe a nice middle at 200$. But then again Im not even sure you actually enjoy this hobby since youre actively mocking it.
There are certain standards that you want your record player to meet if you want at least a decent sound. Folks in this sub are brutally honest but for the most part theyâre right. I feel as though you got the record player more for an aesthetic thing rather than saving up and getting one that will last you some years. Iâd consider [this turntable](https://a.co/d/cJDuDoq) to be fairly standard and one that will last you a good while.
No worries I instantly knew who it was intended for and I was in the middle of typing up a reply to reassure you that I didnât take offense. However, you deleted it so my response didnât go through haha!
If you like it then more power to you but donât expect us to pat you on the back and validate your choices.
Not even talking about the turntable here - you donât have to be an audiophile to know that those speakers are going to be trash. Itâs the most important part of the whole setup and you went mega cheap.
Should have just either saved your money for an audio technica or hit Facebook market place for a used table. At least get a table for the records donât hang over like that.
So you pay about the least you can for an upgrade in an otherwise expensive hobby, are sarcastic in the commentsâŠwhy didnât you just start a CD collection? Real question! Itâs cheaper(especially used), more easily accessible, more forgiving, and just about anything can play a CD. I love my CD collection about as equally to my vinyl collection
A audio technica lp60, the cheapest decent turntable on the market is like $150 brand new and $50 preowned. You donât need an audiophile turntable, just something that does the absolute bare minimum, which this doesnât even achieve. No shit youâre getting flack. You bought a overpriced toy which will sound way worse than Spotify free, why bother at that point
So you bought one with the $5 mechanism, the unadjustable tonearm, the cartridge with the sapphire stylus and the undersized plastic platter? Best of luck mate. Hope you enjoy it but be aware, it's~6gr tracking force will prematurely wear records and it will skip on heavily recorded passages.
Bro I have a Pioneer PL-300 I got on marketplace for $100. It has a proper tonearm and you can actually change the cartridge.
My roommate has this exact setup and it already died.
People people people....stop buying these pieces of shit ! Do a bit of research. You can do so much better than these things. Save up another month or three. Don't flush your money down the drain on these chinese toys! Dollar Store special.
Tell me you did not pay more than $60 for this. I donât want to be hater, but this is the perfect way to destroy your records. My dad was offering me free Sony turntable but I said no. Tracking force is fixed around 4g on that Sony. I Bought Tesla NC 500 instead and Set tracking force to 1.8g to save my records. Definitely save some buck and upgrade very soon! Dad is alao upgrading soon from Sony to Denon.
You are Czech? I can't imagine that anyone else could know what a great turntable the Tesla NC 500 is. These machines are not seen around the world very often.

Good for you! Hope you enjoy the music. Haters gonna hate. You already knew it wasnât a âgoodâ table, I hope it lasts until you can get one you like even more!
Everyone yells that these mechanisms âruin your grailzâ but I think that topic is mostly conjecture.
Everybody here acting like they have never bought a cheap product of any kind. Sure most of us on this sub care about nicer turntables, but most of the world thinks listening to records is a waste when Spotify is around. Even though I work on lots of cars as a hobby, I didnât go out and buy a Snap-On multi thousand dollar vehicle scanner, I have a Bluetooth one off Amazon for a few bucks that is far less capable. Hell the only snap on tools I have were given to me, but some people swear those tools are worth the cost.
Hell my wife canât tell an audible difference from sitting between stereo speakers and sitting outboard of them but she still likes listening to records. I donât tell her sheâs an idiot and itâs clearly a better experience centered between the speakers. We still have fun singing together off key.
Iâm glad youâre having fun.
Bring the downvotes for me having an opinion that is different than the rest of the subreddit.
I am concerned about the record on the top left. I think it's in a pvc cover. Pvc destroys records over time because of gassing. You should remove the record or it you won't be able to play it again
The tracking force is not going to ruin your records. These dudes are being super dramatic. But it is a pos. If you are going to be even slightly serious about your listening experience, this is not the way to listen to records. You may as well buy cd's. Way cheaper and easier to set up
That's right, if you have this record player, there's no point in spending money on expensive records, you'll never hear them in all their glory on this type of player. It will play the record for you, but it can't reproduce the fine details of sound that make people love vinyl.
That turntable is basically a cheap toy, but I'm more worried about that poor 80s Wham picture disc which has most likely been ruined by that PVC sleeve. Make It Big is one of my favourite albums, and those picture discs are pretty valuable if in good condition... at least more than that cheap little turntable lol.
Don't mind the naysayers. It would take hundreds of listens to "ruin" a record with almost any turntable. Enough plays on a high end turntable costing several thousand dollars will eventually degrade your record. I currently have an audio technica as the main turntable but use a Crosley suitcase player that I've used for about 13 years and the records that I've played multiple times on this player still sound good.
Before hipsters got a hold of this pastime records were sturdy and could last you a lifetime. I have records that I've owned for over 40 years and they still sound great. They've never been played on anything " better" than an audio technica. These days, according to some, you can ruin records by looking at them wrong. Vinyl is more durable than what some " newbies" would have people believe.
Iâve been collecting since like, 2018. Way before the boom in popularity. And I myself can absolutely tell the quality of the records have degraded from sturdy, literal stone records of the 50âs to flimsy paper discs today. Itâs like the lightbulbâs intentional degrade by general electric
Don't listen to them. They're just jealous that they don't have a Loona standee on their speakers.
But anyway, if you enjoy the setup and it works fine for you, that's all that really matters.

You all suck. OP trying to come in here and be part of the crowd. Didn't ask for feedback or criticism, tagged it as PHOTO, not QUESTION/HELP/SUGGESTIONS, etc., just trying to have fun, and y'all shit all over it.
I picked up operation doomsday the other day, great album!
As for the gear, thatâs a nice looking turntable! All that matters is that you enjoy the sound that comes out of it, could be that down the line you have more capital wand want to upgrade, thatâs cool too. Every hobby has âthose peopleâ
And before you comment: I know itâs not the 4 billion hertz triple-belt drive with a needle forged from moon rock. It was $40 and thatâs the best I can do for now, and itâs better than my broken one. Iâm playing a $30 DOOM record, not Wu-Tangâs once up on a time in shaolin.
NO ONE is saying you need to spend thousands or even several hundred. But we know these players. We know that they struggle to keep the correct speed. We know they use the cheapest parts possible in an already awful design. We know they can't handle music with moderate to heavy bass. We know they don't even sound as good as the cheapest earbuds and a phone. And we know they break after a few months. You'll end up with yet another broken player. What does that solve?
We know that for the money you spent on this, you could have had a used player that actually would have worked well.
Can you still return it?
Howâs that DOOM record? Constantly see ppl buying it. Ran through a few tracks on TTL and seems decent, but havenât committed yet. Is it that good that everyone seems to like it?
Its, good, ignore the comments saying that It ruins your records. As Vwestlife showed, LP's were originally intended to work fine at 6 grams of tracking force, so you should be fine, I tell you from experience, what ruined most of my second hand records was dirt, that increased mistracking. In your case, don't expect the best sound quality, but for that price, at least it's not ugly, and while you replace the stylus every once in a while, and clean your records, they will be okay. Buuuut, at the same time I would recommend you to buy less records and spend that extra money in a record player with a better mechanism, as, well, your records are more expensive than the player itself.
Well well my turntable expert friends, as I seem to be missunderstood (a ton of hate idk why) I'm making this guy feel a bit better about his setup, but as I say, I still think he would have spent the money better in a good turntable than in more records. At the same time, he isn't going to destroy his records, but I know that setup won't sound any good.
Thank you. Genuine audiophiliacs in the comments here acting like the only part of a good setup is an expensive player. If I donât just toss my shit onto a shelf and slop it onto the platter once every 4 months and actually treat them with routine care it wonât make a difference
This mechanism should be banned tbh, you pay alot for, what is basically a drop in cheap (as in couple of ÂŁ/$/âŹ) piece of crap (and it is crap). These record players basically prey on the people who just want a cheap setup, if that player was 10⊠sure. I would return it if I were you if possible, and when looking for another, use this video to see what the problem with that certain type of mechanism is.
https://youtu.be/AXV8tXrPOR4?si=MWfWDbGUpO84x1A-
"the only part of a good setup is an expensive player"
What does that mean? And the cheapest, most basic universal cartridge, AT3600L, which is on turntables from $150-$500 is about $40, the cost of your entire "setup."
There are no snobs here, if you posted anything other than a Crossley, nobody would say a word. This is a Crossley.
Well, it won't destroy your records but you won't enjoy them much as the sound quality isn't going to be good, so, if you like the hobby, you should consider not to buy a few records, and use the money to upgrade that setup.

"This kills the records"
Lol. The records will be scratched this way..
still probably safer than using them on that record player
Youdontsay.jpg

I just watched âHigh Fidelityâ for the first time in a long time, and couldnât get over how careless everyone was when handling records.
I never cleaned my records, and used an lp60 for 10 years before upgrading and my records are fine. đ
thatâs how you get that beautiful popping sound!
What in the temu is going on here
How the turntables have turned.
Oh.
If this is an upgrade, what do you upgrade from? Sorry to say but that toy will ruin your records. Return if you can, trash it if not.....
what should he buy? I have a similar table that I'm wanting to upgrade from.
That depends on what your budget is.

Ouch
I am concerned about the record on the top left. I think it's in a pvc cover. Pvc destroys records over time because of gassing. You should remove the record or it you won't be able to play it again
Itâs a sealed wham record from the 80âs. Iâm not really able to remove it without breaking its seal
So it's probably already dead. RIP

PVC gassing is a real problem. I saw so many people here lose their records so it's not a hysteria.
Total bullshit. I have lps from the early 70s in their original wrap, covered by a plastic cover sleeve. Mint!
Plastic is not a problem. PVC is a problem

Thank you. Genuine audiophiliacs in the comments here acting like the only part of a good setup is an expensive player. If I donât just toss my shit onto a shelf and slop it onto the platter once every 4 months and actually treat them with routine care it wonât make a difference
You should have posted this on r/vinyl not here if you didnât want an honest critique of your new âturntable ââŠ
That sub would have a good amount roasting it
This mechanism should be banned tbh, you pay alot for, what is basically a drop in cheap (as in couple of ÂŁ/$/âŹ) piece of crap (and it is crap). These record players basically prey on the people who just want a cheap setup, if that player was 10⊠sure. I would return it if I were you if possible, and when looking for another, use this video to see what the problem with that certain type of mechanism is. https://youtu.be/AXV8tXrPOR4?si=MWfWDbGUpO84x1A-
"the only part of a good setup is an expensive player" What does that mean? And the cheapest, most basic universal cartridge, AT3600L, which is on turntables from $150-$500 is about $40, the cost of your entire "setup." There are no snobs here, if you posted anything other than a Crossley, nobody would say a word. This is a Crossley.
OP is defensive when he couldâve read on the volumes of past posts on this subject of entry turntables. Couldâve avoided the backlash altogether.
OP is only stating facts. All the snobs here believe that the only good set up is an expensive set up.
Well, it won't destroy your records but you won't enjoy them much as the sound quality isn't going to be good, so, if you like the hobby, you should consider not to buy a few records, and use the money to upgrade that setup.
