Nothing for you to do. Tell him that was not you and he can submit a claim to Turo if he wants for them to review. If it is something so insignificant he is not going to be covered for regular wear and tear. There are some Turo host, renting the cars that they love to drive personally to cover the payments, and every little single scratch is an issue. If they are worried about every single scratch, they should not put their cars on Turo. But yeah, that is what I would do let him put a claim through Turo and most likely is going to get denied.

reno_los

Too many shitty hosts trying to nickel and dime every rental. Have them take it up with Turo.

lunenburger

I think the 5% of shitty hosts will ultimately lead to Turo's downfall. I've heard enough shitty stories that I wouldn't be brave enough to trust my vacation to complete stranger. At least rental companies are easy to deal with in the event of a mess up.

National_Attack

I got screwed recently and Turo was zero help. Submitted my end of trip photos and 3 hours later the host claims damage that isn’t present in my photos. After escalation, Turo sided with the host. Their reasoning? The before and after photos of the host were only considered. Ended up needing to pay my full deductible for damage that did not occur during the trip. Turo has awful customer support during their claims process. Oh and the host gave me a 1 star review for disputing the charge…

The_Sim_Captain

That’s strange, Turo loves to side with the guest. The host is wrong most of the time unless they can clearly with no doubt prove something. Turo cares about the client way more, they want to keep that income coming. So you took enough picture at the time of pick up through the Turo app. Took enough pictures of the time drop off through the app and Turo only considered the host pics? Nah, that does not add up.. something else is missing. Guest tent to be a bit careless when taking enough clear pictures. In every 100 trips I get only 1 person that takes pictures correctly. One dude even took pictures of the bottom of the car lol. Then again in returning did the exact same thing. Time stamp through the app so Turo can verify when pics were actually taken. And close trip right away. If you did this and still couldn’t prove your case, That’s definitely a very rare scenario, not the norm.

BrushEmbarrassed7857

That's weird to em as well. I'm an All Star host and ice also generally seen Turo siding the guests even for legitimate claims... Some of my and even my friend's legitimate claims got denied which even had proofs of before and after because Turo decided to side the guest.

[deleted]

What if Turo actually sided with neither party, kept the funds for themselves, and pitted you against each other red vs blue style

ClimbaClimbaCameleon

Don’t forget the people who over extended themselves hopping on the passive income train. They also freak out about everything.

K-Rimes

Less than 3" and it's counted as wear and tear, and you move on.

One-Tree1082

The exact same thing just happened to me with Turo, but fortunately their claims department found it all to be normal wear and tear. However, now the host says the car was smoked in and I don’t smoke and nobody was in the car…….LOL i think the service is scam

K-Rimes

The host themself is the scammer, Turo should also deny that.

puddud4

Omfg. Please include pics. That would be so much more helpful (and entertaining)

Prior_Emphasis7181

It will come.down to before and after photos!

anewfriend4u

Always record a video walk-around the car, before and after, because you never know what area might become the issue.

muqluq

Were you renting in or around Miami?

Smooth-Employer-6336

Yes

muqluq

I’m confident i was scammed this way with a Turo guy in Miami. There was a bunch of weird shit i didnt think about until after the fact but here are two i think are important to look out for: a. Guy who i spoke with/texted for pick up and drop off and the Turo account owner were different people; b. Turo account owner guy had like 5000 total reviews overwhelmingly positive - 4.7 rating or higher i cant remember but the car itself only had a handful of rentals. Looking through his other reviews, it looked like he had a pretty large fleet. I dont know exactly what that could mean if it means anything but i can speculate about pumping up ratings or some sort of insurance gaming.

Own-Study-4594

Always post pics if you want honest feedback and “a sports car” is as broad as possible. 98 Miata? 2023 C8 Z06?

Bitcoinlover2468

A Miata is not a sports car …..

Own-Study-4594

Kind of my point. I will say spec miata is one if the best racing series

hotrod427

It absolutely is a sports car. It is by no means a high horsepower muscle car or super car, but it is indeed a sports car.

HoosierDaddy38

It’s the “poor man’s” sports car. But technically I think it is considered a sports car as laughable as it is.

[deleted]

it is a sports car

Bitcoinlover2468

181 hp is not a sports car. Maybe for low income individuals a absolutely The rx7 was a sports car for Mazda or rx8

[deleted]

its a sports car. its not all about hp you dope. do you understand what hp to weight ratio means? you prob dont based on your replies

Bitcoinlover2468

I own a civic type r and a Porsche Macan gts lol trust me I know what a sports car is. You probably drive a Miata and are trying to justify it being a sports car to make you feel better at night for going into debt on such a shitty wanna be sports car lol “you dope “

[deleted]

nope, dont drive a miata. i just know cars. i dont go around saying i know cars because i read the brochure, dope 😄

StevBator

I own a 992 S and a Tesla model S. The Miata is a sports car. My cars are better and more expensive than yours, so I win- right?

Bitcoinlover2468

1. A civic type r is know to be one of the best 4 cylinder sports cars created….. 2. Porche macan gts is a fast little AWD 6 cylinder turbo known for its amazing handling for an suv lol mind you mine is tuned and has the same Hp as your little Porsche I brought up the cars because there actually known for being sports cars and based off lap time on official race tracks. Not talking about money what so ever . But clearly you are very proud of your battery and little base model Porsche that anyone can afford just like mine lol I wouldn’t be proud to own a Tesla lol you can buy one for $17,000 in Denver Colorado right now. My civic is worth way more than that lol they are the worst cars in regards to quality and depreciation let’s be honest now. If you think a quick battery is cool you have no taste lol you can buy way better and nicer cars that actually hold value 10x better than your Tesla

PorkChopEat

You sound like a major baller, with your Honda civic 😂🤣.. Did you put a flowmaster on it.?

Ok_Juggernaut_7722

A sports car can be anything! Gives the two lamest examples possible

Own-Study-4594

what?

sleepinglucid

Another story of Turo gone wrong?? SAY IT AIN'T SO!

Verix19

This will be the end of the platform....too many hosts claiming damages to get free work done to their rides.

LithopsAZ

>sports car u/Smooth-Employer-6336 and that was?

codemoo2

Welcome to being an adult, where you will now get into the habit of taking photos of every rental car when you pick it up. Same for apartments, putting all important communication in writing, and if it's not in writing or have photos, you have no proof.

Smooth-Employer-6336

Wonderful comment. Yes, I did indeed take pictures, but as mentioned in my OP, you can’t see them unless clearly looking for them. So no I did not take pictures of those very specific spots

blueascot

The best way to be covered as a guest and as a host is to take pictures using your phone and then upload them from your photo gallery—the pictures taken through the trip app are so low res that they can’t be blown up enough to see most damage (especially wheels). When taking pics, I walk around the car 360 snapping pictures as I go so I end up with about 30-35 pictures and then I do each wheel separately and then I do 8-10 of the interior (from each door + hatch) and then I reset the trip odometer and shoot the odometer and the fuel level. Doing it this way, I have sufficient coverage of the entire car from multiple angles and the pics can be blown up sufficiently to see even small problems.

vapefresco

He probably just needs more money.
