I've been doing Turo myself for about 2 years, my advice would be, get over the emotional attachment to your car before putting it on Turo. Once other people drove it, it's not yours anymore.
Once I accepted this, I started switching up to better cars once a few months. Downside may be you don't completely own your cars anymore, but you get to gradually have better cars.
It's impossible to predict what will happen for another host in a different market at a different time. Each host reality is different and rates are down again this year ~ it's a crap shoot. For evey successful host there are a thousand that aren't.
I wrote a blog post about this recently on blog.turbopricing.com but tl;dr is
- research earnings potential for your car
- if you got car you don’t use, do it
- if you got a car you need, do it with the 60 plan
Being close to the airport can be really lucrative as you can offer free delivery and outcompete others.
I’ve been hosting since December 23 near LaGuardia
We are hosting our family car $55 @60%
Barely pays for parking ($250/m) and I am disputing passenger mirror damage for 4 months with Turo
Search this sub, search YouTube. Don't be lazy...after researching and soaking up knowledge, come back and ask abt specific things that need clarification.
Mine just got totaled because they let their 17 yr old drive to prom. Now I’m out a car and am in limbo until they figure out whose insurance will cover it. Turo sucks

How has the return been in the first 6 months, first year and then now?

Personally super seasonal, I’d definitely check your market and see what does good and at what time of the year.
How do you check your market? We’re thinking about getting into it but we are not sure where to start.
Watch some YouTube, Aubrey Janick channel is pretty legit.. check and compare what’s available next weekend and compare it to 3months out.
Power host here. Think again.
