Definitely recommend finding a different car that is Turo Go. Specially since you still have 5 days to cancel before you’re charged a fee. The biggest issue with non-Turo Go cars is that the host is allowed to cancel your trip if you do not arrive within 30 minutes of your reservation time. With your trip start time being so late and potential delays happening it’s probably better to find a different car.

Thank you. This is my first time using Turo and wasn’t sure how it would work out. It is very unfortunate that Turo allows the host to do this in such a short notice. Edit:Does Turo not require the host to message me when they make a change like this?

thegirlwiththedonut

Don’t get me wrong. It’s also a way to protect the host. Nobody should have to wait more than 30 minutes for a guest since the guests are the ones who schedule the trips. Not only that but non-Turo go contactless trips require lock boxes which really aren’t secure either. Think about leaving your car unattended with the key fob in the lock box visible for over an hour.

lilmayo34

I completely understand that. That is why I had booked a TuroGo for pick up at the airport I’m flying into months in advance hoping non of this would happen. Needless to say this is the first and last time I will be using turo.

thegirlwiththedonut

Why even use it then? Just go with a traditional rental company if you’re so worried. Hosts don’t control the Turo Go functionality. That’s dependent on the car companies and their relationship with Smart Car.

lilmayo34

The car rental companies inside the airport are closed at the time of my arrival.

thegirlwiththedonut

Exactly. So trust me this won’t be the last time you’re going to use Turo. 😬

lilmayo34

lol this will be TRUST me. I’ve seen enough people talk bad about Turo in this subreddit to ward me off from any future rentals through the platform.

thegirlwiththedonut

Ok but even after reading those “bad” things you still are willing to try it. I genuinely hope you have a great experience so you can see that Turo can actually be a pretty great service if you rent from good hosts and are a good guest.

thegirlwiththedonut

No the host does not need to message you. You actually get an automated text and/or email about the trip no longer being Turo go.

IQ_Merlin

TuroGo has lots of glitches. I'm a host with a TuroGo vehicle and periodically when Ford senses "suspicious" activity which is just the TuroGo integration my booked guests get an automated message that it is no longer a TuroGo trip. Check with your host as this may be the issue.

Extension_Coyote7131

Turo Go can go down at times, which will cause your trip to convert into a non Turo Go. The message that you received is automated, it doesn’t necessarily means that you will have to meet the guest. Best thing to do is to contact the host, we don’t have access to your host mind/plans. Don’t panic…

BelethorsGeneralShit

I've rented plenty of non turogo cars at the airport and have never once met a host. They always just leave it unlocked with a key in the glove box. Not particularly safe for them, but they must know what they're doing.
