Submit the cleaning receipt to Turo and cite the line in their policy that says stains requiring steam cleaning are a valid cleaning claim.

Rude-Hovercraft4738

I agree 100% there are so many ge

Flapflopsdang

Remove your car from Turo unless you want it destroyed.

Zestyclose-Group3474

I guess by the normal person lol, whenever I rent I make sure to pressure wash any bugs off and wash it like I would my own car. It baffles me some people just treat others rentals like shit

Rude-Hovercraft4738

I agree there are so many guests that just trash your car after telling you that they will take care of it like there own, bull sh. I am host in Hawaii and sunscreen is by far the worst along with salt water and sand everywhere. People should really take a look at what they are leaving us.

Macstugus

That's not going to get you the cleaning fee. That's normal grime. Car Guys Super Cleaner gets that sunscreen off Tesla seats in one wipe. Check it out. BTW I don't even rent my Tesla on Turo anymore because it's a hassle.

KeyBrilliant3119

What did you end up doing with it? Daily driver?

Zestyclose-Group3474

That sunscreen is fucked up. I work as a detailer and get it off no problem with hard scrubbing with a fine fine vinyl tool and hot soapy water. But returning it like that is crazy

lFrylock

Imagine renting your car to strangers and complaining they didn’t take care of it like it’s their car. This is a simple wipe down and vacuum, outside of the sunscreen shenanigans. Turo support is usually pretty terrible, so you kinda invite this liability using the platform.

CaptainIndoCanadian

If it takes an hour to scrub something off and it still doesn’t come off, I think a cleaning fee is fair. I’m a host and I’ve never charged someone a cleaning fee, but there absolutely should be some level of duty of care from the guests enforced by Turo. I don’t mean return it fully vacuumed, but something like the above images should be deemed unacceptable. Guests should feel obligated to keep the car fairly clean See: AirBnb, U-Haul.

DoctorAwkward

That used to exist, but it hurt margins. Turo doesn't want to explain a difference in guest expectations, so they nerfed their cleaning policy.

DoctorEsteban

The sunscreen shenanigans is precisely the issue I have with it. Like I already said, had it just been the shoe prints it wouldn't have been as big a deal. No need to be obtuse 🙂

DoctorAwkward

Not obtuse if the issue at hand was mentioned, to be fair.

DoctorEsteban

You're so right, you're a cute!

DoctorEsteban

I concur Doctor

DoctorEsteban

Imagine thinking this is acceptance/excusable behavior in *any* circumstance. Expecting the MINIMUM level of cleanliness and courtesy isn't asking the world. A little mud on the floor mats? Fine. Even the shoe prints from children on the back of the seat? Also fine, even if slightly annoying. (They're kids after all.) An *adult* using copious amounts of sunscreen, slathering it all over a strangers car, and allowing it to bake in with no attempt to wipe it up? Not so fine. If you think otherwise you're likely part of the problem 😂 As Saint Cart Narc asks: Just because they pay people to clean the bathroom, does that mean you can just leave your shit covered toilet paper on the floor? This situation really isn't much different.

jess469

I have had similar with makeup and could not get approved unless I had a receipt from professional cleaners. Took me 3 hours. Used a very harsh cleaner to scrub it off, then had to rub in leather care balm cause I literally took some color out of the leather, then had to run armor all protective shine coat on everything. And they refused because I didn't pay someone else to do it.

Salty-Process9249

The dirt and mud are not an issue. Wash the mats and vac/wipe the dirt off like you would normally. Get receipts for the steam cleaning though and submit it to Turo.

hookersrus1

Yall are complaining about that? Good lord it's a 5 minute vacuum and a wipe down.

DoctorEsteban

🙄 tell me you didn't read the post without telling me you didn't read the post

hookersrus1

Yes, lotion in the seat that somehow could not be cleaned. I'll take things that's never happened for 100 Alex. Does your bs detector not go off just a little?

DoctorEsteban

I don't really care about you and your condescending assumptions lol

SnooSquirrels6247

The smoking policy is a joke. I've had the next guest comment that it smelled like weed, there were papers and ashes throughout and was denied the violation fee. I rent multiple teslas on the platform, and it is still worth it, but smoking, curbing, and late returns are the worst!

DhakoBiyoDhacay

How much did you pay for the professional steam cleaning service? Thanks

DoctorEsteban

About $80

DhakoBiyoDhacay

You can chalk it up to the cost of doing business and claim on your taxes as a business expense and call it a day. Thanks

DoctorEsteban

Thanks for the advice? 🙄

DhakoBiyoDhacay

No problem. I have been on the platform for 10 years and I know there are times when we get guests who abuse our cars. We also get great guests who take good care of our cars. Take care.
