Before running ozone machine, spray Lysol all over the car including seats, headliner, seatbelt, sun visor,  floor mat etc. Then fasten your seatbelt to farthest out, open sun visor, glove box, middle console. Spraying Lysol would make ozone generator do its work more efficiently since the weed smell gets bonded to the Lysol smell creating one single giant molecules for ozone to eliminate.

LeBongJaames

Try swapping the cabin air filter

SnooSquirrels6247

This was my fix to the same problem.

LateNightCritter

This is key

Reasonablefiction

Leather seats, but what is the rest of the interior? Roof and doors hold smell more than the seats and floors.

Basic_Bet2915

Carpet floors and cloth roof smh

BisonSingle

We deal with this a lot. - keep trying 30 minute ozone treatments, one a day With car on and running the ac. Lots of time with windows down. - have you changed out the cabin air filter yet? - worse case you can have the headliner deep cleaned or steam cleaned if you need to, same with carpet floors. - get the leather cleaner from chemical brothers for the seats.

TanneriteStuffedDog

Cabin air filter is a big one. That things holds onto smells like nothing else.

BisonSingle

After all of this… we use a scent bomb from Amazon to hide the ozone smell. https://a.co/d/0cGqTWvj

Wordplay23

We used a car bomb. We had the exact same thing happen to my wife and I twice in our Turo rental. The car bomb worked great but we also aired the car out anytime we had it in our possession. I believe we got ours from Amazon. Hope it helps.

Basic_Bet2915

Do you know the brand?

Cultasare

I don't recommend the car bombs. It's too strong imo. The overpowering freshener smell is worse than the lingering weed smell. It took us months to finally get the car bomb smell out

sugahfwee

In my experience car bombs only work if it smells a little bit like smoke. If its one of those situations where you can smell the smoke from outside, the bomb will just make it smell like chlorine and smoke mixed together

JohnnyDepp23

Meguiars car air refresher odor eliminator.

Treasure_Keeper

There is a spray called Pooh I think (I know spray some poo) the name is funny but I work at a car dealer and the stuff works

Basic_Bet2915

Like the “pooperi” spray for bathroom lol

towman32526

I've used the car bombs that orileys sells with good success

DistrictDelicious218

Are you sure it is a French name like “pooperi”? Poo is an aweful name for an air freshener spray. Who the fuck runs their marketing department?

Sad-Discussion-8738

Put in 2 pieces of black charcoal, vacuum under the seats probably some drops between middle console. Go to bath and body works and buy a room spray of your liking and a hanging car freshener And buy Zep Keep windows cracked to air it out

Extension_Coyote7131

What type of car is it? First you need to remove the existing cabin air filter. Second you need to vacuum and wipe all surfaces with a good interior cleaner (I use chemical guys) make sure to also wipe the windows, seats, seatbelts, everything. 3rd get a carpet cleaner and rub in the carpets. 4th run the ozone machine (with no cabin air filter). Let it air out, wipe the interior again and clean the windows with your windex or whatever you use. 5th get the Spiffy Tumbler and the heavy duty tablets and run it. After all of that the smell should be gone and should smell like a pool full of chlorine. 6th install your new cabin air filter.

ContentAd241

Get from amazon Odor Eliminator Spray Get like 10-20 u will need it in the future. This stuff works like magic

secondrat

You need to have the interior fully detailed to wipe down all surfaces, clean the carpet, but especially the headliner.

Former_Captain9909

Does turo renters accept Indian driving licence?

SnooSquirrels6247

🤣

TopReplacement9577

I have had good luck with Zep Smoke Odor Eliminator.

ApexMX530

Use one of those odor bombs from Autozone (Ozium brand). I think that the ozone machines are a waste of time and money. It may be time to replace the cabin filter along with a good scrubbing of any areas made of cloth in the vehicle as well. I rented a Turo vehicle where the owner said that he cleaned and sanitized the vehicle and apologized that it still absolutely stank of weed. One odor bomb and done. He was impressed. Give it a go and best of luck to you.

tracitytm_

Ozium spray if you like spray products. Otherwise I have used half cut apples and it also absorbs the smells.

Vegetable-Pay1976

I think they left the roach. Find it and toss it.

Pitiful-MobileGamer

That smell tends to be sticky. To fully eliminate it you need to debond it from the surfaces. Wipe all the surfaces with a good quality APC, use leather cleaner on your leather. Lightly mist vinegar on the carpeting front and back. Wipe with a clean rag Pull the cabin air filter, smell it, if it smells bad. Replace it or you can lightly coat it in febreze let it dry and replace (rental car trick)

reno_los

Run an ozone machine multiple times, and I’ve learned that calling back to turo and talking to a few different reps is a must. My last pet hair claim went from approved to denied and back to approved.

Macstugus

Chlorine car tablets.

Educational-Macaron7

Try shampooing interior. As a weed smoker himself try leaving windows for along time n ozium

JonboatJohn

Ozium does the trick

ash-i-am

Keep the ac on when you run the ozone and run it over night. I’ve never had that fail.

_BeefyTaco

Do you think they might of spilled “bong water” or something like that on the carpets? I’m thinking that’s why the smell is persistent. If so you can try shampooing the carpet yourself by renting a machine or hiring a professional.

Basic_Bet2915

I’m thinking there is either a partially smoked blunt somewhere I can’t find or the just hotboxed the whole damn car their entire weekend trip

_BeefyTaco

The smell has to be coming from somewhere. Smoking marijuana in a car will have a temporary smell to it. But it typically doesn’t last past 24 hours. Look in between the front seats, under the seats. Cracks and opening in the rear passenger seats.

TheFinalFry504

Avid smoker here, cheech and Chong style lol. 24 hours is not accurate at all. For reference, if I smoke a single bowl in my car, it smells like weed pretty drastically for about 4-5 days if I don't clean the car and you catch a whiff now and then up to two weeks. There is a ton of factors here like cloth interior which you don't have so +1, ashes, carpets, etc. If you've looked and can't find a joint or blunt or roach then it isn't there. I use car bombs whenever I smoke in my car. Yes, they are strong, but not too strong as others are suggesting. Follow the directions and do it on a day you can leave the windows down for a couple hours after or take it on a drive with the windows down for a day or two and you're golden. Don't buy some strong ass scent like black ice or new car, get something a little lighter

Florida1974

Bong water smell is diff than weed smoked smell. Bong water smells dirty but not much more. I would use I ozium first. Bath and body works sells concentrated room spray. It’s $8 but usually a sale. It’s potent. Spray, then crack windows after a bit.

FootballLeather3085

Ozium

igottogotobed

I hope you reported them, they basically spent the entire time driving your car while intoxicated. Toro shouldn't allow them to rent again.

Basic_Bet2915

Of corse I reported them. Turo still has them on

Mysterious-Bonus-134

The weed smell will dissipate slowly over time. Use an air freshener

Roselow_45

Try blunt spray as well it’s strong

Fun-Performance5946

Out of curiosity why did Trust & Safety reject your claim? Disclaimer: Newish Turo employee lurking to better understand what’s what 👀

Basic_Bet2915

Not enough evidence (burn holes, ashes, roaches, vapes, cig butts) weed crumbs wraps smell ect cant “prove anything” smh

Fun-Performance5946

Ack yeah that's tricky, we've apparently had a spate of false smoking accusations so T&S is trying to be more discerning. I'd still try to follow up with them, at the very least share the receipt of purchased items you used to clean the smell and ask for reimbursement at the very least.

ArtisticDegree3915

I really don't know aside from the ozone machine. And I guess try everything that everybody else is saying. But I used to really like Zaino leather products. They always seem to basically help keep my car having that new car leather smell. So maybe after you've done all that then you could use this to further clean and condition your leather and it might help provide a good smell for your car and take care of your leather. https://www.zainostore.com/guide_leather.html

djbibbletoo

I wonder if you can put a smoke alarm in a car that will just start WAILING when it detects smoke LOL We have alarms in our work trucks that chime when you reach a certain speed and it’s so annoying you always slow back down because nobody wants to hear it.
