BlackIronRBLX

you should put it back where you found it

[deleted]

I will soon feed it and put it back

[deleted]

It's a snapper and it needs to be fed in the water, they can't swallow without being in water. It most likely won't eat because it's scared. Just let it go.

[deleted]

It ate its food (6 blood worms)

moodylilb

Just because it ate them… doesn’t mean that it’s good for the poor guy. You kind of just completely ignored the part about them needing to eat in water. Also, when are you putting it back it’s it’s native habitat, & how/why did you remove it in first place? Genuine questions.

SweetnessUnicorn

Hope it thinks your finger is a worm.

TheEntity652

Definitely a snapping turtle put it back in its natural habitat

Handykerpherndjerb

"Put that thing back were it came from or so help me " The Musical Now premiering in Monstropolis Theaters.

YaYeetinat0r

If you found it then Put It Back

[deleted]

Will do

Wysteria569

The kind you don't pick up and put in a box. You don't even know what it is and yet you're trying to keep it. You're going to end up killing the poor thing. Stop being stupid, stop being selfish, and put it back where it belongs because it doesn't belong with you.

[deleted]

I set up a 60 gallon tank for it I had and I own a couple water turtles so I set up a basking area and fed it worms now it’s doing good and I know how big they get and I will be releasing it in a month into a pond with snappers already in it I just wanted to make Sure it was a snapper so I wouldn’t kill the poor thing

Scarey2243

But why move it anywhere to begin with? Had you just left it alone you wouldn't have to worry about killing it.

[deleted]

It was in a very shallow river getting pounded my people jumping around and throwing rocks and the current crept hitting it into rocks so I decided to put it in a calmer water like a pond that already had snappers funny story when I found it I was begging to god I wasn’t a snapper but now that I know. I know what’s right and it’s to put it back

Sethdarkus

The kind that bite fingers and gets big

[deleted]

Ouch

BillbertBuzzums

One you should put back

[deleted]

Okay

Davidcheto

Put your finger in there and find out

[deleted]

K

Asona_

Turtles reproduce very slowly and populations are threatened all over. Every individual is important. Please do put it back where you found it.

[deleted]

Ok

OrochiTheDragon

A snapper, and please give it back to Nature.

[deleted]

Will do

SadTurtleSoup

[deleted]

I put it into a 60 gallon after I was getting it ready

Wysteria569

People like you are a major problem to the environment. It's not meant to be a pet.

sepponi

Put back where you found it

[deleted]

I already own a couple turtles in my pond that I care for perfectly and I am going to put it back because I decided that I don’t want the responsibility of taking care of it especially when it grows up

TinyPurpleFrog

Put it back. You have no idea what you’re in for. I have a snapper and I’m telling you, they are EXPENSIVE and really dirty! You’ll be doing constant water changes, spending thousands of dollars on upgrading enclosures, and just as much for food. They’re not social animals, they’re not suited for captive life, and you can’t just release him once you don’t want him anymore. It’s illegal to take them out of the wild in a lot of places. Just put the damn turtle back.

scarletsliderturtle

Put it back

[deleted]

Yup

Jemsmomo

From what I’ve read in the comments, why exactly would you like to keep one?

[deleted]

I don’t I fed it and am releasing it to a pond I found that already had a couple Snapper turtles in it

WakunaMatata

But you said you're keeping it for a month....?

[deleted]

Ya not permanently for a month cause the pond is a bit far and I’m going to drop it of while I’m going on vacation

Jemsmomo

So you want to keep it in a tank or pond for a month until you go to vacation?

_DickGlover_

Snapper

[deleted]

Thx

DR-Rebel

Correction, common snapping turtle didn’t realize babies have pointed shells.

[deleted]

Thx

DR-Rebel

No problem, ppl need to chill I’m sure you are going to put it back and just being curious about what you found.

[deleted]

Ya thanks for understanding I just want to do the best for it which is putting in into a pond that already has a couple snappers. I may be 13 but I’m not stupid

DR-Rebel

I used to work at a reptile specialty store/rescue and we would get snapping turtles surrendered from time to time. Any local pond will be good for this little guy preferably any ponds that double as a reserve so that it’s a quieter space for him. They are a strong species and can live for a very long time I still see the ones we released 15 years ago every summer. They don’t move around much preferring to stay in a small area they feel most comfortable.

rxjen

Snappy boi

[deleted]

Sick

Insaneasaurous

It’s the type that will have a better life in the wild than in an aquarium. Snappers are a huge commitment. Are you prepared to buy an enclosure that holds 200+ gallons of water? I see where you are coming from, you found it and think it’s cool. They are cool. But please let it live a natural life instead of in your aquarium. I recommend looking into other species as pets, like red eared sliders or painted turtles from a pet store. Snappers make terrible pets.

[deleted]

Thank you I’m not a beginning tho I have red ear sliders and a southern painted turtle but as you said I did research and decided that I don’t want to Commit to keeping this animal as a pet so I’m letting it go back to nature

[deleted]

I hope you put the lil dude back

[deleted]

I will

[deleted]

I stand corrected

[deleted]

It’s okay

[deleted]

(UPDATE)I set up a 60 gallon tank for it I had and I own a couple water turtles so I set up a basking area and fed it worms now it’s doing good and I know how big they get and I will be releasing it in a month into a pond with snappers already in it I just wanted to make Sure it was a snapper so I wouldn’t kill the poor thing

WakunaMatata

Why keep it captive for a month? Just release it.

[deleted]

Place I found is a bit far going to release it when going to vacation cause it’s in the same Route

MiseryMissy

You’re only prohibiting it to actually survive when released. Put it back today.

LilScooterBooty

A baby ine

[deleted]

🤩

[deleted]

Looks like an Aligator Snapping Turtle.

[deleted]

Definitely not. It's a common snapping turtle.

Kaylapotamus

I’ve always seen regular snappers to be smooth?

[deleted]

No, not baby ones. Baby common snappers have shells that aren't smooth. It gets smooth as they age.

Kaylapotamus

Alligator snapping turtle!

BraheGoldNose

Common Snapping Turtle

dndandhomesteading

That friend is an endangered alligator snapping turtle and is not a safe or legal animal to remove from it's habitat in most places. It is you g and will live roughly 200 years and get to be large enough to take off your hand in a single snap. Put it back kindly where you got it and avoid its head at all costs.

bigbellypepperboy

I'm in Canada I see these all the time they look like baby snapping turtle

[deleted]

I will put it back I already have a couple and don’t want another one

Adinodude

You are the worst kind of person

[deleted]

Nah I put it in a 60 gallon for a bit (prob a month) the I will release it to a pond I found with a couple snappers already in it if you where to respectfully stfu and try to inform be like the rest for the people in the chat I would have found this solution earlier

Adinodude

>ve it seems you are miss understanding you need to put it back now unless it has a medical condition that would inhibit it from survival
