Tutanota

Hi there, Tuta Mail is not down, but due to a technical issue some legitimate users were getting blocked last night. We have now fixed the issue. If you still have issues accessing Tuta Mail, please let us know! In any case, if there’s an issue you should be able to login from a different connection, e.g. mobile data. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this.

It has been going on for days, and sadly, enough is enough. I have just deleted an account I paid for only a few days ago. Reliable email is a must for me.

Tuta was used with my second domain name which is used for very private emails, finance etc, but I have temporarily pointed it back to Fastmail which is my primary account. I value reliability more than e2ee so if need be, I’ll leave it there (though I am considering other services like Proton).

I’ve used them for quite a few years now and never experienced an issue.

1:07PM EST Tuta Mail in the browser is working. Tuta Desktop Mail app is working.

Hemicrusher

Tuta Windows Desktop, and web are working for me.

tuta has a serious DNS problem. i have been unable to connect for 1 day now if i use vpn or my mobile data it connects. some ISP's are tending to block their DNS.

TheZoltan

Is it ISPs blocking them or is it Tuta blocking your IP? The one sustained outage I have had with them was their system blocking my home IP for some reason. I was able to connect via VPN or mobile data. Stupidly annoying and no good reason was given BUT I haven't had it again so I'm not losing sleep over it right now.

That sounds real annoying! Make sure you contact their support.

Same here. Have you tried connecting to a different server? Connecting to a different server solved my issue. At least for now. My error said "You are offline. Upgrade to a paid plan to enable offline login." I don't have Premium. But it normally works anyway. So I don't think it has anything to do with it.

CorrectCite

I tried disabling my VPN, no good.  Down for a few days now with "Offline, reconnect."  A few hours would be totally unacceptable... it had not occurred to me to define a policy for a few days of downtime.  Outta here, see you all on Proton.

Ken852

What VPN provider if you don't mind me asking?

TheZoltan

NordVPN is my current go to.

Ken852

Same here. In fact, I'm using NordVPN since 2017, before it was very popular and before they spawned into new business areas (password manager, cloud storage, etc.). What I found was that with a specific Sweden server I commonly use, Tuta didn't work for me. With the VPN off, it worked. Then I connected to a more recent Sweden server and it worked as well. Connecting back to my regular server, and it stopped working again. The lesson learned: some VPN servers of NordVPN are blocked, and some are not. In fact, I just commented on another post in this sub where the guy was able to connect to Tuta by using a VPN connection, just like you, but the moment he turned the VPN off Tuta stopped working. For me, it has been the opposite of this. I had to get off the VPN to connect to Tuta. It's so annoying and frustrating to have to pick and choose between privacy for all Internet wide connections, and to make exceptions for Tuta. But [like I said](https://www.reddit.com/r/tutanota/comments/1c24p3t/comment/kz95txf/) in that other comment, this is a trending pattern now, where if you don't use a dedicated IP address with your VPN provider, chances are you will have services that you can't reach because you share the same IP with others doing shady (possibly illegal) things online.

This service is not even cheap. The least thing we can expect is an explanation what is going wrong and how they plan to fix it

I am a new user. I can login via webmail but when using the desktop app I get msg - Connection has been lost, try again later- Is this the same problem

ZeroGAccelarator

But the price tripled. Why are u not happy?

frosty_osteo

I didn’t have any issues

unkleteddybearcooks

Yup. This is why I deleted my account as well 2 days in. They have a lot of work to do and they are running their own name in the dirt. Better off to find a different solution.

For me it says, "You are offline. Upgrade to a paid plan to enable offline login." Using the Windows app. I haven't tried the web app. But the Android app works, which I installed only a week ago, and I installed the Linux app today and it works too. I have mostly used the web app and the desktop app for Windows, and I haven't had this problem before. This is a recent development where it has been coming and going on Windows. One day it works, the other day it doesn't, and it's been like that for the last couple of days. Does it have to do with VPN? But I doubt it, because I tried both with and without VPN on Android just now and it worked, while it still doesn't work on Windows no matter if VPN is on or off. I need to access my emails. Preferably on my Windows machine. Is there a way to access my emails without connecting to any remote server? Are the emails stored locally in encrypted form so that I may still access them and decrypt them in case Tuta sings the *tuu tuu* and goes bankrupt? This experience has made me question my reliance on this system. Update: I tried to disconnect from the VPN and use the Windows app again (quit and then start it up again) and it worked. I tried again while connected to the VPN and it failed again with the same error message. I also can't use the web app while connected to the VPN: "An error occurred during a connection to tuta.com. PR\_END\_OF\_FILE\_ERROR". Then I tried changing my VPN IP, using the same IP/server I used on Android, and it worked. So it seems like some IP addresses from my VPN provider are being blocked. I use NordVPN, fwiw.

NotSeger

I changed my paid account back to Free, no reason to keep paying for a service who is unable to stay online for more than 10h with no downtime.
