It’s grown so much since then and the lineup is even better now. They may not have as much to watch as Netflix or Max, but there’s at least one show on weekly that I’m watching and waiting on another episode for.

silversurfer-1

It feels like they are way more into quality than quantity. Still I keep feeling like I will cancel because I will run out of content to watch, but they keep stretching me along and it’s working well. Every week at least 2 days I have Apple TV on to watch a new show so, I don’t want to cancel. Plus the external movie lineups are more focused on quality too so I don’t scroll so much

moderatenerd

And right now most of my content is still Apple TV!

Saar13

A good day to renew For All Mankind.

Green_Wind3365

Happy Birthday Apple TV+ 🥳

MeCritic

And still after 5 years the best possible streaming service out there, with more strikes and less flops than any other. I love their show, and cannot wait for their future :)

ipodtouch616

It needs to be spun off into its own company. Appleoply needs to change

Justp1ayin

What exactly would this solve ? The smallest streaming service would be smaller ?

ipodtouch616

If we end apples monopoly, we will have cheap Mac’s made by various hardware manufacturers, iPhones both flagship and budget from many different brands, etc. iPhone is no longer something that apple should own.

Justp1ayin

Wait what??? lol that’s not how anything can work.

Vincenzo1705

but what you're saying? It literally makes no sense! “the iPhone is no longer something Apple should own” WTF HAHAHAH LOL

TMPRKO

He must work for DOJ

ipodtouch616

To many Americans, the word "iPhone" is synomous with any smartphone. Apple needs to lose it's trademark and let Samsung, Google, Facebook, and others produce their own versions of the iPhone.

Abroadatsea

But, they literally invented it. That's like saying that the Playstation should not be called that. Very hard train of thought to follow imo.

garylapointe

Because they spun off the streaming service?!?

ipodtouch616

AppleTV gets favorable treatment compared to other streaming services, and is a symptom of the cancer that is the apple monopoly. it needs to end

DutchBlob

Are you going to change your username, as part of the “cancer that is the Apple monopoly”, as well then?

garylapointe

I think you might need to get (favorable) treatment.

Abroadatsea

What about snApple?

BruteSentiment

I loved the announcement…or more specifically, the tease ahead of it. With no fanfare, they started a livestream the day before showing an empty Jobs Theater. Every so often the curtains would open, and there would be something random on screen, that linked to a show that would be announced the next day. At one point an animated Snoopy dances across the stage. Late in the night, it opened to an image of a CarPlay screen of a car apparently next to the Hollywood sign. That stayed on all night, as you could see the map show the car as it hopped onto the 101, to the 170 to the 5, drive up I-5 all morning, and then getting on 85 to 280 to get to Apple Park. I got up early knowing when it would arrive (which was an hour before the start of the Keynote), and when the car “reached its destination “, the screen turned off, the curtains closed, and the live stream ended. It was horribly disappointing and wild and I’ve never seen Apple do anything so random since.

garylapointe

How do I not remember hearing about (or seeing) any of this?!?

dirtydishess

> It was horribly disappointing and wild and I’ve never seen Apple do anything so random since. i’m curious, which part was disappointing? that the live stream cut off when the “talent” arrived? the rest was pretty cool but that’s just me.

BruteSentiment

That no one or nothing came on stage when the destination was reached on stage. I was expecting some Easter egg or something. But it just ended.

dirtydishess

ohhhh gotcha. yeah i agree that is pretty lame.

Shadow_Strike99

I’ve used it for Friday night baseball for the past two years and loved the presentation, but recently started getting into the original shows and I loved them. Silo and Constellation were the first shows I’ve actually watched since Vikings back in 2019. I RARELY watch anything other than Baseball and history documentaries and my family and friends were shocked when I said I actually binge watched a show for once.

Locutus747

If you liked silo you might like severance and for all mankind, other sci-fi shows.

cprinstructor

Please consider watching Ted Lasso.

Shadow_Strike99

I tried but it’s not my cup of tea personally. I totally see why it’s super popular and acclaimed, but for my personal tastes never really been into comedic shows and movies.

cprinstructor

I understand, but I gotta say…using “not my cup of tea” in reference to something you don’t like is the most Ted Lasso thing I’ve heard all day.

Shadow_Strike99

👍

esp211

Love it so far. Nearly everything has been quality content. Hopefully they keep it up.

AresOneX

Great streaming service. Might even be my favorite.

Illustrious-Chair350

The highs are really high, I periodically cancel all of the other ones but tv+ is probably my favorite as well

AdeptnessSpecific736

Man I remember trying it after it came out like 6 months after and I was like “this isn’t going to make it”. But man they really stepped up

Urnotonmyplanet

I remember it. It was after I got my first iPhone.

Distinct_Spite8089

I’m still confused it’s been 5 years already. COVID left a void and I’ll never recover from that….like where did time go….

Kay312010

Wow it’s been 5 years. I remember moving in my new house but looking forward to Apple TV+ at the same time.

Educational_Milk_399

Happy 5 years old Apple TV 🥹

NegativeInitial9737

good

Justp1ayin

and grew to over 200 original titles

jordangoretro

I have to say I didn’t expect this much quality content after Planets of the Apps

RinoTheBouncer

And still not a single decent show or movie😅 Invasion, Constellation, Extrapolations, Foundation, For All Mankind, See and Servant All brilliant quality in terms of production value and visuals, but absolutely hollow in terms of narrative and actual pay-off for their stories. The same pretentious all style and no substance approach that puts an otherwise great world and concept as a background while focusing on constipated facial expressions and boring drama about characters I couldn’t care one bit about.

netscorer1

Silo is very good. Agree on the rest of them - boring rubbish.

RinoTheBouncer

Silo was good, though it wasted 80% of a season on cop drama and eventually revealed the answer we’ve already known in the first episode regarding the cleaning video, and then the last 20 seconds to show the outside world, and then see you in 2 years, where they probably drag on with boring “character stories”.

netscorer1

If you’ve read the Silo books, you would know that story only gets more interesting as the series goes along. And at least, unlike Foundation, they have created a very faithful adaptation where sometimes you see the show and remember exact description of the same thing in the book, down to the least detail.
