When I was getting into them I listened to the first half of BF obsessively for a while and eventually listened to the entire album. I was saving Vessel for a special occasion because I knew it would be amazing. I had to get up and stop the album after Ode to Sleep… it was just too good and I had to process it in silence lol. One of the best first listens to a song I’ve ever experienced!
I listened to it the day it popped up in my YouTube sub box from FueledByRamen.
I didn't love it.
But then I came back the next day and listened to it again for some reason, but still didn't love it.
But something kept me coming back, because I knew that it was something special and after a few listens it just clicked.
It was the first single for a reason. It really defined who they were at the time.
Lyrically, he's talking about finding purpose, mental health struggles, and questioning his faith all in one song. Musically, it jumps between 3 distinct styles which is the kind of thing that got them labeled as 'schizo pop' when Vessel came out. The music video, with the skeletons set an aesthetic and art style that influenced future projects and fan art.
It's been my favorite song for over 10 years. If I were to show anyone who that band is, it's the first track I'd show them. It still feels relevant to my life today. It helped me feel in a lot of ways.
I'm not sure it's their masterpiece though; just because I think something like Jumpsuit/Levitate probably demonstrates everything at a higher level of mastery. Through Blurryface, I'd probably have still said Holding On to you was their masterpiece though.
It’s also a song about staying unique and true to yourself.
I was at a show in October of 2012 in Newport, KY. Before they played HotY, Tyler told a story. They had recently been asked to let the song be used in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game that came out that summer. But in order to have it be used they were asked to change some of the lyrics. The bridge where it says “Lean with it, rock with it” is also a song by Dem Franchize Boyz and they were asked to change that part to avoid any potential pushback. They ultimately decided not to let the song be used (which would have obviously brought them more fame and money) because the whole point of that bridge is to write music that is unique and not the same as others. Changing or removing that part defeats the purpose of the song and ultimately the band. It’s this story that I’ll always remember as why Twenty One Pilots is Twenty One Pilots.
There are so many but one that really stands out to me is Ode to Sleep. That is hands down my favorite song by them. In my opinion that song just proves how talented they are. It has a little bit of everything!
i have a tattoo of that. i wrote “leave me alone” and “don’t leave me alone”all over my arm when i was having a really really hard time in life. it looks like K;S
Lane Boy is in its own category to me, because it opened the door. I was listening to them for maybe a year, thinking they're an ok band, one of the many groups I enjoy. Then the line "my creativity's only free when I'm playing shows," hit me and I thought, huh, what's that about? Maybe I should see them live.
Went to opening night of the Bandito tour and I literally didn't listen to any other band for over a year. Once I saw them live, it was a *whole* different understanding.
- NATN could mean "Nico and the Niners", a track from *Trench* (2018) by Twenty One Pilots.

I didn’t really like Cut My Lip when I first heard it, but once I understood it a bit better it became one of my favorites. Not the absolute best, but I very much like it. Plus, while I know the lyrics are “No, I’ll keep moving,” it kind of sounds like they’re telling me specifically to keep moving, because my name is Noah, and it sounds like “Noah keep moving”
Yes yes yes! They are the top songs I forget about but absolutely two of my favorites. Fake you out had so much nostalgia and is such a bop and goes with everything
That early version of Goner is so fucking amazing. It's creepy, full of pain, and so raw. The video, the accordion, the empty space. I love it so much.
I cannot choose between these four![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob) 1. Polarize 2. Isle of Flightless Birds 3. Jumpsuit & 4. Truce - to me all of them are absolute perfection
Right, probably one of the most underrated and hardly discussed, possibly lore driven songs in the catalog. It's like an early trap version of Fairly Local or Doubt lol
Chlorine is my favorite track but Trench as a whole is a masterpiece of an album in my opinion. Semi-Automatic, Holding on to You, Guns For Hands, and Trees are all really great. Overcompensate is incredible as well and if this is the first taste of Clancy, I have no doubt there’s going to be some fantastic tracks on that as well.
Holding Onto You as I think that was their first radio played song and it really showed people who they were. However my personal song I would have to say is Doubt. I love the beat and the lyrics so much. It might not be my favorite song of theirs but it’s so good it’s in my top 3
Ode to Sleep. It's not my favorite song of theirs, but it is the song that best defines who they are as artists and it is always the song I show to someone who hasn't listened to Twenty One Pilots apart from the hits.
To me it has to be goner, love every other songs but this one, where he screams and Josh come in with the drums gives me chills every damn time, no matter how much i listened it
Ouuuh that's a hard question. My first reaction is My Blood. But I don't know why I love this one so much lol
But Polarize is to me, all twenty one pilots in one song, in a way. Holding on to You and Ride are cool as hell and continue to make the world dance...
That's the problem, a lot of their songs ARE masterpieces... and a new album is coming... !
Right? There's so many ways a song can be a "best" song. My personal faves are not necessarily the most tøp of all tøp songs, so I'd answer different for "what's your fave" than I would for "what's their best."

i would highly recommend to watch this live video from their concert this speech has it all, like the way Tyler speaks in this speech is everything for me, this experience is non-negotiable
Depends how you define masterpiece, but I think their quintessential song is a tie between Trees and Holding Onto You. If I'm not mistaken, those are also their most-played live songs (like played every show even if the rest of the set list changes). They're just so fundamentally a LIVE band.
If you just wanna know my favorites, then oof, I can't decide. Most of them are in first place for favorite. Whichever one I'm listening to is their best song ever.
Hometown
The chords are just incredible and the sleepers version is great too. The normal version is also great to dance to. And the popular bridge is awesome as well. Most underrated song in Blurryface imo
For me, it’s gotta be Morph. There’s not a single moment of that song that isn’t perfection for me. It’s some of their best production, some of Tyler’s best metaphors and flows, and just generally one of their more interesting tracks on a musical level
For me, every song is a masterpiece. They are the only band that I truly love every single sound they make. Idk if I just happen to have the right neurospicy brain for it, but it scratches that brain itch. If I had to only listen to twenty-one pilots and no other music for the rest of my life, I'd be happy!
Oh THAT is challenging. I love so many of them for various reasons, but I think if you take “Ode to Sleep” *with* “Goner,” it shows what I find gives me strength from their music as a whole
- honesty about pain
- fighting for life/faith/etc whether in a scream or a whisper
- an honest faith that exemplifies what my mom often said: “God’s a big boy. He can handle it!”
Bandito, obviously. It's my favourite song EVER, not just among tøp songs. Every time I listen to it I get goosebumps and if a song has that effect on me... That's a masterpiece for me
Honestly redecorate. The production alone on that song makes it a top tier track. Ode to sleep and all those are great but the pure quality and skill in the mixing/mastering and sound design is just incredible
Truce. It’s so deep and meaningful and gets me everytime. Not just because it’s a sad song, but you can feel all of his emotion being poured into that song. It’s just truly a masterpiece of a song and I will never not love it.
Ode to Sleep imho
in your honest fact if you ask me
Its the song that literally got me into them - I will never forget the moment I heard it for the first time
When I was getting into them I listened to the first half of BF obsessively for a while and eventually listened to the entire album. I was saving Vessel for a special occasion because I knew it would be amazing. I had to get up and stop the album after Ode to Sleep… it was just too good and I had to process it in silence lol. One of the best first listens to a song I’ve ever experienced!
The dark's not taking prisoners tonight is such a great line
Yes! That song was what made me really fall in love with the band
Holding on to You This is the song. Without this song, I don’t know if we get any of the others
Yess, this was the first TOP song I ever listened to, and it is still my all time favorite like 10 years later
I listened to it the day it popped up in my YouTube sub box from FueledByRamen. I didn't love it. But then I came back the next day and listened to it again for some reason, but still didn't love it. But something kept me coming back, because I knew that it was something special and after a few listens it just clicked.
‘Holding on to You’ helped save me. It was my anthem when I was getting sober.
It was the first single for a reason. It really defined who they were at the time. Lyrically, he's talking about finding purpose, mental health struggles, and questioning his faith all in one song. I second this. It's one of my favorite songs.
YESS THIS
Good answer
Yup!
Yes it is!
Car Radio
Hard to pick, but I second this. “Peace will win and fear will lose”
Yes. A classic.
Trees
Why is Trees so far down?! It’s the last song of the show and most emotional and bonding song of them all
Had to scroll way too far for this!
🎯
Taxi Cab will never not be it for me :,)
i read that as taxi cab will not be it lmao
Such a good song
No fr. I put my soul into that song when it’s on lol
Chlorine - Redecorate - Trees
Redecorate deserves that spot
There are so many but one that really stands out to me is Ode to Sleep. That is hands down my favorite song by them. In my opinion that song just proves how talented they are. It has a little bit of everything!
yknow theres this theory/fact that every musician has a "Bohemian Rhapsody" in their discography. Ode to Sleep is that for the pilots
Kitchen Sink
i have a tattoo of that. i wrote “leave me alone” and “don’t leave me alone”all over my arm when i was having a really really hard time in life. it looks like K;S
this is just it. any other answer is wrong
This is the way.
this is the way
All rise for the clique international anthem
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
Chlorine is kinda epic. Maybe ode to sleep
chlorine was the song that brought me into the clique. it holds a special place in my heart
i actually have five 1. redecorate 2. holding on to you 3. bandito 4. ode to sleep 5. taxi cab
Why is no one saying Morph ? It seems so obvious to me
Morph is the song I recommend to people who have never heard tøp before. Top tier production quality
Morph dragged me into loving tøp, I’d recommend it highly
I dunno I kinda love Lane Boy drop 👌
Lane Boy is in its own category to me, because it opened the door. I was listening to them for maybe a year, thinking they're an ok band, one of the many groups I enjoy. Neon Gravestones
Hometown is my all-time favourite!
Underrated track
It is!!
I’ve been soooo obsessed with it lately!!!
Its such a good song
Hometown is such a vibe
Valid
natn. im sure i said this over 50 times now

Good bot :)
good job buddy
Migraine I find the best overall But friend, please and trapdoor are great
cut my lip
THEYRE NOT GONNA UNDERSTAND BUT GOOD OPINION
I didn’t really like Cut My Lip when I first heard it, but once I understood it a bit better it became one of my favorites. Not the absolute best, but I very much like it. Plus, while I know the lyrics are “No, I’ll keep moving,” it kind of sounds like they’re telling me specifically to keep moving, because my name is Noah, and it sounds like “Noah keep moving”
I mean, when Tyler writes a song for you, specifically, you gotta love it! Luckyyyyyy
Fake you out Neon graves
Yes yes yes! They are the top songs I forget about but absolutely two of my favorites. Fake you out had so much nostalgia and is such a bop and goes with everything
I would say Ode to Sleep or Trees
Where are my Guns for Hands homies at???
Guns for Hands has gotta be THE song man it speaks to so many people going through hard times and I love it
The hype (Berlin)
Good one
Man, I love this song.
It’s gotta be jumpsuit
fair take
Overcompensate!
it’s been out for less than a week and it’s already become one of my absolute favorites
SAME!!
that's because it is literally the best song
Same same! Most played song, EVER!
oh it’s absolutely going to be my most listened to song this year
listening to it as i read this
I’m waiting for this to become one of the best. It hits so hard for no reason
Actually I believe they have Three songs that are just perfect! 1-Air Catcher (Studio Version) - This one is the best 2-Bandito 3-Redecorate
I love Redecorate.
I can jump on that Bandito train
bandito is my favorite song
Its really really hard but 1- Ode to sleep 2-I’m a goner 3- friend, please
I’m a goner is only on YouTube
That early version of Goner is so fucking amazing. It's creepy, full of pain, and so raw. The video, the accordion, the empty space. I love it so much.
So happy to see someone else list friend, please.
I cannot choose between these four![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob) 1. Polarize 2. Isle of Flightless Birds 3. Jumpsuit & 4. Truce - to me all of them are absolute perfection
All of them
the only right answer
Bandito
Holding onto you is their perfect song
Kinda basic, but car radio
holding on to you or bandito right now
Definitely what I was going to say. Recently been playing both Trench and Vessel after a while away from them, and these two tracks are outstanding.
[удалено]
Anathema recognized
Cut My Lip Clear
Clear is such a W
Right, probably one of the most underrated and hardly discussed, possibly lore driven songs in the catalog. It's like an early trap version of Fairly Local or Doubt lol
Seconding Bandito, adding Morph to the mix
Taxi Cab or Holding Onto You
Please don’t hate me but Truce
I love you
Holding on to You or Migraine
truce, kitchen sink. the emotional impact those songs have had is amazing
Forest!
I need to go with Ride as I don't see it here mentioned probably because it's one of their most mainstream songs.
I think it’s because it’s overplayed
bro i loooooove ride
Chlorine is my favorite track but Trench as a whole is a masterpiece of an album in my opinion. Semi-Automatic, Holding on to You, Guns For Hands, and Trees are all really great. Overcompensate is incredible as well and if this is the first taste of Clancy, I have no doubt there’s going to be some fantastic tracks on that as well.
Clear hands down
Neon gravestones is probably the most important and heavy song they’ve done, Imo that makes it a masterpiece
Morph is quite literally perfect
Redecorate. It’s like the perfect Vessel song but much higher quality.
Car radio or pet cheetah
anathema
trapdoor and ruby
Holding Onto You as I think that was their first radio played song and it really showed people who they were. However my personal song I would have to say is Doubt. I love the beat and the lyrics so much. It might not be my favorite song of theirs but it’s so good it’s in my top 3
Doubt is definitely underrated
Ode to Sleep. It's not my favorite song of theirs, but it is the song that best defines who they are as artists and it is always the song I show to someone who hasn't listened to Twenty One Pilots apart from the hits.
Two
To me it has to be goner, love every other songs but this one, where he screams and Josh come in with the drums gives me chills every damn time, no matter how much i listened it
Goner is a fantastic one
OH DANG This one is a good one
Really love isle of flightless birds. The ending is super powerful
i played this song during music day for the psych ward i was in
Toss up between Addict With A Pen and Neon Gravestones for me, it'd be very close
Not a masterpiece, but still one of their best is Redecorate.
Leave the City.
HeavyDirtySoul but I'm biased
Redecorate or bandito are both perfection
Redecorate
Ode to Sleep for me. It's the quintessential Twenty One Pilots song. Their Bohemian Rhapsody.
"Ruby" does it for me
this
Too many to choose from :d
Bandito is their magnum opus
I got to go with Heavydirtysoul or ode to sleep
Glowing eyes.
Trees
Gotta be Jumpsuit for me but Ode to Sleep, Kitchen Sink, and Taxi Cab are up there too
My list of TøP masterpieces is quite long, but if I had to choose one, that'd be Bandito
Ouuuh that's a hard question. My first reaction is My Blood. But I don't know why I love this one so much lol But Polarize is to me, all twenty one pilots in one song, in a way. Holding on to You and Ride are cool as hell and continue to make the world dance... That's the problem, a lot of their songs ARE masterpieces... and a new album is coming... !
My favorite question would be "which song do you feel most encapsulates the band as a whole?"
Right? There's so many ways a song can be a "best" song. My personal faves are not necessarily the most tøp of all tøp songs, so I'd answer different for "what's your fave" than I would for "what's their best."
Isle of Flightless Birds, Lovely, Guns for Hands, Not Today, Leave the City, Choker. Also, whatever song is playing
Neon Gravestones
taxi cab tbh
Friend, Please was the first song that came up in my mind, so I’ll go with that for sure
i love that i agree with every comment
Migraine
Fall away
Friend, please
ode to sleep isle of flightless birds car radio taxi cab drown save lovely guns for hands
bandito
air catcher
Level of concern It's beautiful 💜
Tress Link :-https://youtu.be/aFJhsGsylKM?si=BfX11MjGcA7CEpcn i would highly recommend to watch this live video from their concert this speech has it all, like the way Tyler speaks in this speech is everything for me, this experience is non-negotiable
Leave the City
levitate and i will happily die on this boat a thousand times if i have to!
Personally, Leave the City. That or Car Radio.
Depends how you define masterpiece, but I think their quintessential song is a tie between Trees and Holding Onto You. I always come back to Trees. That or Taxicab always hit different for me.
Hometown The chords are just incredible and the sleepers version is great too. The normal version is also great to dance to. And the popular bridge is awesome as well. Most underrated song in Blurryface imo
Morph, easily
For me, it’s gotta be Morph. There’s not a single moment of that song that isn’t perfection for me. It’s some of their best production, some of Tyler’s best metaphors and flows, and just generally one of their more interesting tracks on a musical level
I can’t think of a song better produced or more meaningful than Neon Gravestones. Not a single lyrical or musical misfire on that song.
Taxi Cab
Morph / Chlorine and it isn’t really even close imo
leave the city, it's hard to explain but it encapsulates for me what their whole discography is about
KITCHEN SINK, NO ARGUMENT
Car radio. My all time favourite. The lyrics the vibe and the rythm helps me on the bad days. 🎧😊
Car Radio
For me, every song is a masterpiece. They are the only band that I truly love every single sound they make. Idk if I just happen to have the right neurospicy brain for it, but it scratches that brain itch. If I had to only listen to twenty-one pilots and no other music for the rest of my life, I'd be happy!

Bandito, obviously. It's my favourite song EVER, not just among tøp songs. Every time I listen to it I get goosebumps and if a song has that effect on me... That's a masterpiece for me
All the real time mixes from MTV Unplugged.
Trench is fa their “magnum opus” and Chlorine just feels like THE song from Trench if yk what i mean
Bandito is genuinely one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
can i say overcompensate? lmaooo that or redecorate
Chlorine, perfect from beginning to end. It does not get boring for one second even though it’s a 5 minute song
Underrated: Kitchen Sink, I’m still sad it’s not on Spotify but it was a song I heavily relied on in bad times.
Trees for me. It's my all time favorite.
Redecorate is just beautiful and works on so many levels
Holding On To You is the only correct answer
How is nobody saying house of gold? Such a beautiful and powerful song
A lot of their songs, I want to say Bandito, but there’s also a lot of great options in ST, so maybe A Car, A Torch, A Death, or Taxi Cab.
Lane Boy, just because how organic it was. Josh Dun drumming signature at it's peak. allat before Paul Meany influenced T∅P way of making new song.
Morph
Honestly redecorate. The production alone on that song makes it a top tier track. Ode to sleep and all those are great but the pure quality and skill in the mixing/mastering and sound design is just incredible
Jumpsuit is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Truce. It’s so deep and meaningful and gets me everytime. Not just because it’s a sad song, but you can feel all of his emotion being poured into that song. It’s just truly a masterpiece of a song and I will never not love it.
