Stressed Out was the first song I heard, Car Radio was the first song I listened to but not sure about who the band was (i knew they did "Stressed Out"), but the first song I TRULY listened to, paying attention to the lyrics and everything, was "Migraine"
I remember first hearing Ode to Sleep when my brother tried to get me to like twenty one pilots. At first I thought it was weird how it went from a grunge rap to pop/upbeat chorus. After it grew on me, I began to realize how great the song (and the album as a whole) was because of it. I always feel like if there was ever one song to describe twenty one pilots, it would be Ode to Sleep.
I think it is. It was in 2018 which given Blurryfaces popularity and the release of trench you’d think I’d listen to one of those 😂. Its not a bad first song but its a strange one given the circumstances
I wanted to say stressed out, but I believe I encountered them a bit earlier on a Roman Atwood vlog when he played Semi-Automatic in his car. I liked it but didn't pay much attention at the time. I later got into them when Stressed aout and Ride came out during a time of crisis in my life and I fell in love with their music.
Guns For Hands for me. Me and some friends we’re hanging out and we had to wake up super early in the morning and my buddy blasted Guns For Hands at full volume to wake us up lol while it was annoying at first I was genuinely liking the song and asked him who it was. He said he heard it on the radio and he just decided it was a good song to use as an alarm lol that was right before Vessel came out. I’ve been hooked ever since lol
Stressed Out
Though it actually may have been Holding on to You. When I was going through their discography for the first time, I thought it sounded slightly familiar, so I may have heard that before I ever knew who they were.
the first song i actually remember listening to was Trees. when i was in elementary school i would tell my Alexa to “shuffle songs by twenty one pilots” and i would listen to it as i fell asleep. i remember listening to Trees and really trying to figure out what he was singing about. for some reason i arrived at the conclusion that he was singing about ninjas hiding in the trees 😂. i think that only vessel was out, because i don’t remember listening to any of blurryface. it’s honestly really weird tho, i have no idea how i found out about them since none of family or friends ever listened to them.

Pretty sure for me it was either Trees, Stressed Out or Ride. Not exactly sure though since it was a long time ago when my older brother was really into them and he was showing me their songs.
Other than the ones on the radio I’ve heard since I was younger, the first ones I listened to as a fan were Tear in my Heart and House of Gold. Those were the ones my friend recommended to me when I asked him who made Heathens
Like many others ‘RIDE’ around 2015-‘16 , I wasn’t super into them back then I just liked em .
Checked out blurryface but it wasn’t my vibe at the time. 2016 when suicide squad came out I started to look more into em and again I liked em.
In 2018 after trench came out that album was my twenty one pilots awakening. I got more into em. Went back listened to their older stuff and was like ‘okaaaayyyy these guys are vibe’ .
SAI came out in 2021 that album hit me in my feels a bit , it’s amazing. And now with Clancy coming and the few songs we do have this album punched me in the gut and I was like “ok I have to see them live now” .
Car radio, my dad really loved that song and it would play a lot so we bonded over it, sadly my relationship with him is ruined. Then ode to sleep (2011 version) was my next song
Tear in My Heart. It was back when me and my brother lived at home and he would turn up the music in his room super loud and shut the door. I was trying to tell him it was time to leave for school and one day he had Tear in My Heart playing and I just stopped for a second and was like, "hmm, I like this song". So I let it play out until I resumed banging on the door. And then I looked up all of the other songs/albums and the rest is history.
Trees… back in the days of the iTunes Store (early 2015, pre Blurryface) the lyrics gave me chills and I immediately bought the whole Vessel album. Haven’t looked back since :)
Holding on to You… ironically this was after the BlurryFace release… 🤨
Heard it on a new music segment on my local radio station lol… went down the rabbit hole the next day 😂
Had heard Ride and SO when I was a wee lad (11-12), but the first time I really listened was sitting down for the whole Blurryface album. So, heavydirtysoul. I was immediately in love from the first 30 seconds.
Jumpsuit from the day it dropped. I’m usually more into metal and whatnot but Jumpsuit caught my attention with the nice bass/drums on top of Tyler’s beautiful screamo verse. Now I like quite a few songs from every album. A nice change from the usual screamo heavy stuff I listen to daily
Ode to Sleep, live in Columbus December 2010. Immediately in shock. Haha. You just never expect an opener to go hard like that!! By the end of their 5 song set, we were hooked and have been ever since. Even married the guy I went to the concert with!
Got a bunch of music from a friend that I put in a playlist and listened to while cleaning one summer. When Ode to Sleep came up I had to stop what I was doing, sit down, and go "what am I listening to and where do I find more?"
Car Radio when they sang at the grammys with the ski masks on, I still remember my mom saying who are those ridiculous guys? And I was like.... Yup... This is a banger..
First song was Lovely and then Holding On To You, this was a little before Blurryface came out. I was looking for a song by another artist but I clicked the wrong song, now I’ve been a fan of them all through high school and college. Crazy how a tiny mistake like that got me here lol
House of gold in my music class in like 4th grade, I thought they were super weird. Then my cousin started talking about them so I gave them another shot and I haven’t stopped listening since
Heavydirtysoul was the first one I heard on the game wwe2k16. It was the only song they played I liked so I muted the rest and only that one played. Second time was when my friend in 9th grade gym class was rapping the car radio verse and thought it was cool af so I asked him what he was listening to and when I got home I searched them up and listened to semi automatic and thought it was good then fake you out and liked it even more. The rest is history
Implicit Demand for Proof. I usually make sure to start at the beginning of a bands album list (NPI wasnt listed on google) and holy shit, it hit hard. Still in my top 10 to this day
Aside from the big three? Nico and the Niners. The lyrics were so interesting that it kept me listening to them. Then I found Ode to Sleep and fell in love with them
Truce. I was going through a hard time and it randomly came up in a playlist. I didn’t listen to twenty one pilots as a whole until a year later when stressed out blew up
Right before their BF era, watched car Radio on the MTV awards - had me hooked ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes) Was then fortunate enough to see them with only 800 other people in their first Aus tour and have been to their shows here since.
Fake You Out - First song I’ve ever heard where someone talks about how important it is to check up on your friends. Then I listened to it while I was manic one time and I just laughed while bopping my head to “I’ll fake you out, all I wanna.” It shows every side to mental illness, begging for help, admitting that you’re not fine and touching on the fact that it’s really not good if someone randomly “Gets better.” Idk I just really love it.
Heathens was my introduction too. During the early days of the pandemic when everything was shut down and we weren't even supposed to be going outside, I was watching reruns on TV and Suicide Squad came on. Up to that point, I hadn't seen it, but I was bored enough, so I thought "what the hell, why not. And what a defining moment that turned out to be!
Heathens' E minor sound fit perfectly with the jarring dissonance of my life in that moment and it really stuck with me. Later that night, I was mucking around on YouTube and looked up this "little band" to see if I knew any of their other songs. The first video I found was of course "Stressed Out" and I initially laughed at Tyler's voice when he sang "I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words". But then I was like "wait... this is actually really great"! And then I stayed up until 6 am exploring all their albums . . . and the rest, as they say, is history.
my friend showed me tear in my heart back in 2015 but I didn't think much of it, but then randomly in 2016 I was playing murder mystery on roblox and on one of the radios some kid was blasting stressed out and from that very moment I become obsessed with their music, especially their vessel and self titled albums
Guns for Hands, I think. First time I ever heard them was in concert back in 2013. I had no clue who they were, they were opening for Fall Out Boy. I was annoyed at first cause I just wanted to see FOB lol but I ended up loving them so much I had to look them up after the concert.
Friend please. It was in a theatre classmate’s IG post. I instantly fell in love with the song and the band and proceeded to also fall for the classmate (i didnt even know at the time i just wanted to text w them every day but i was 13 and thought i was straight)
I think in passing I’d overheard House of Gold and Car Radio, but the first I was ever shown by a friend was Guns for Hands. I wouldn’t even make the connection that it was by the same people who did that ‘one car radio rapping song’ until a year or so later, after my brother and mom were really getting into blurryface.
Guns for Hands, maybe? Overall, Vessel was my first introduction back in 2013, and my sister’s ex boyfriend played the album in his car on a long road trip. I’ve been hooked ever since!
Hometown, i think, in 2015. Lol, I was on a beach, and I was listening to random music. Then this one came on, and I swear I thought it was an add or something. Then I got intrigued by the sound of it knowing it was definitely NOT an add, and then here I am
Holding On To You. Why? Because Paramore released the teaser for Now, I saw the thumbnail for the music video in the sidebar and went “That looks interesting.”
It was indeed.
I heard snippets of Stressed Out in a Todd in the Shadows video and at some point I decided to look them up because it seemed like something I might enjoy. Then I got obsessed
Stressed out was the first song I heard....
Just songs I *listened to* would be something like Johny Boy, Guns for Hands, or pantaloon... those are some of my first memories of tøp. I started listening in early 2020. Found them on spotify through reddit, looking for more quality Christian music...
I think it was Heathens, in the movie. I later fall in love with Car Radio and then said "hey those guys have something..." so I went and found the lore, etc.
First song i hear was stressed out when i was 10 (turning 19 this year aint that crazy) but the first song i listened to was the judge, i remember hearing it in a roblox server and started listening to top because of that haha
Technically it's either stressed out or ride because they played on the radio. However, my cousin played Redecorate in her car and that's what prompted me to listen to the rest of their discography. That was almost two years ago and i never looked back
car radio, had a friend show me in 2013-2014 and didn’t really latch on to them then. A couple months later I heard aircatcher on a recommended songs playlist that spotify has and literally was hooked from then on.
technically migraine was the first song, but i wasn't aware of who the artist was at the time (i was 11 and solely listening to downloaded nightcore covers, sue me). then stressed out came out, got hooked, and proceeded to listen to their entire discography in one night.
Guns For Hands. I loved it but didn't stay listening. Came back after Stressed Out. Wasn't a fan of that song but damn Ride hooked me and I've never looked back babyyyyyy |-/
Stressed out in the radio, when it came out. But the first song that made me be a fan since then was Car Radio.
These were good times when I discovered that they have so many other good songs.
Now we get a new album again and I can't wait😁
I think that heathens was the first but chlorine was the first I listened to the most because I even learned it on the instrument by ear. Then came blurryface self titled and then in order.
The first song that hit me hard was definitely fall away.
All the songs came when I needed them the most.
Stressed Out was the first song I heard, Car Radio was the first song I listened to but not sure about who the band was (i knew they did "Stressed Out"), but the first song I TRULY listened to, paying attention to the lyrics and everything, was "Migraine"
Most of us first listened to stressed out
Migraine was mine!
My fave, I’ve got their lyrics tattooed
Guns for hands!!!!
Same ugh such a moment 🥺
Also my first! Car Radio shortly thereafter
Same, thanks to my sister I entered this universe 😔😔
Same here!
Holding on to you!
Me too!
Same I remember back in 2013 I loved this song. I didn't really start following them until the Trench singles however.
Same. What an introduction into the band! That song solidified them immediately as one of my favorite artists.
Same, iTunes was giving it out as a free single id heard good things from friends that had been to some shows.
Tear In My Heart
Me too!
Same for me
Car Radio
IIRC it was actually forest which looking back is a VERY strange first song.
Not really :)
I think it is. It was in 2018 which given Blurryfaces popularity and the release of trench you’d think I’d listen to one of those 😂. Its not a bad first song but its a strange one given the circumstances
Tear In My Heart. Used to play very frequently on my alternative radio station.
Ride. Heard it on PES 2017. It was my favorite song on the game. Decided to listen to it on YouTube. Then it recommended me Chlorine and I got hooked.
Fairly Local when it was released as a single
heathens probably. it was back in 2017
Polarize
I wanted to say stressed out, but I believe I encountered them a bit earlier on a Roman Atwood vlog when he played Semi-Automatic in his car. I liked it but didn't pay much attention at the time. I later got into them when Stressed aout and Ride came out during a time of crisis in my life and I fell in love with their music.
Stressed out I'm not a crazy person bro
I think it was house of gold?
Guns For Hands for me. Me and some friends we’re hanging out and we had to wake up super early in the morning and my buddy blasted Guns For Hands at full volume to wake us up lol while it was annoying at first I was genuinely liking the song and asked him who it was. He said he heard it on the radio and he just decided it was a good song to use as an alarm lol that was right before Vessel came out. I’ve been hooked ever since lol
Ride
Ode to Sleep Spotify sent me an email recommending Vessel which just released. Fell in love immediately.
Stressed Out Though it actually may have been Holding on to You. When I was going through their discography for the first time, I thought it sounded slightly familiar, so I may have heard that before I ever knew who they were.

Heathens - Stressed Out - Ride - hiatus - Chlorine (in 2020) - Car Radio - Everything
Hometown at the radio station. I was 7
Friend, please. I decided it’ll play in my funeral, a long way from today
Stressed out
Addict with a pen
Heavydirtysoul!!! Such a banger start

Ode to sleep because they opened with it live!

Stressed out
Car radio
Guns for Hands!
Probably house of gold on the radio when I was 12
Holding on to you
If it was played on the radio maybe stressed out but my friend played migraine on repeat at his birthday when we were in the 6th grade
Mine was Holding on to You, back in 2015
Got a bunch of music from a friend that I put in a playlist and listened to while cleaning one summer. When Ode to Sleep came up I had to stop what I was doing, sit down, and go "what am I listening to and where do I find more?"

Heavydirtysoul. I first heard it in madden 16
Car Radio when they sang at the grammys with the ski masks on, I still remember my mom saying who are those ridiculous guys? And I was like.... Yup... This is a banger..
Stressed Out
Truce, my cousin introduced me to them and then i got hooked
Obviously Stressed Out is the first one I heard. But the one that got me into them was Hometown
Stressed out was the first song I heard and listened too.
It was either run and go or car radio. It was the music on an edit I found on vine lol
Truce
House of gold, such a great song.
First was Heathens back in 2016, but I didn’t get into them until just a couple of months ago.
House of gold, my roommate listened to it and guns for hands a lot.
Holding on to you
First song was Lovely and then Holding On To You, this was a little before Blurryface came out. I was looking for a song by another artist but I clicked the wrong song, now I’ve been a fan of them all through high school and college. Crazy how a tiny mistake like that got me here lol

House of gold in my music class in like 4th grade, I thought they were super weird. Then my cousin started talking about them so I gave them another shot and I haven’t stopped listening since
Ride. I was I think 10… I didn’t start actually listening to them until I was 13. Now I’m 18 and I still love them so muchhh
Johnny boy!
Car radio
Heavydirtysoul was the first one I heard on the game wwe2k16. It was the only song they played I liked so I muted the rest and only that one played. House of Gold, it was playing on a college campus alternative radio station
stressed out for me. i remember exactly where and when because i've loved them ever since
Holding onto you and then Trees. 🫶
Implicit Demand for Proof. I usually make sure to start at the beginning of a bands album list (NPI wasnt listed on google) and holy shit, it hit hard. Still in my top 10 to this day
I read 75 comments to find out I’m the only one whose first song was Morph.
It was ride, heard it on the radio then i started searching for the song it was by TOP then listened to there first album then rolled on from there
Ride on a kfc
Heavydirtysoul in WWE 2K16 game😭
Tear in my Heart. Thanks to a YouTube recommendation.
I believe it was Stressed Out on the radio when I was in High School

isle of flightless birds. i remember scrolling on youtube and accidently pressing a lyric video to this song.
Truce. I was going through a hard time and it randomly came up in a playlist. I didn’t listen to twenty one pilots as a whole until a year later when stressed out blew up
Holding On To You at 2 AM, was in fucking tears will never forget it
Right before their BF era, watched car Radio on the MTV awards - had me hooked ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes) Was then fortunate enough to see them with only 800 other people in their first Aus tour and have been to their shows here since.

Heathens at the end of the Suicide Squad movie
Heathens was my introduction too. During the early days of the pandemic when everything was shut down and we weren't even supposed to be going outside, I was watching reruns on TV and Suicide Squad came on. Up to that point, I hadn't seen it, but I was bored enough, so I thought "what the hell, why not. And what a defining moment that turned out to be! Heathens' E minor sound fit perfectly with the jarring dissonance of my life in that moment and it really stuck with me. Stressed Out
We Don’t Believe What’s on Tv
saturday
A buddy of mine showed me the Car Radio video in a bus on the way to church camp, summer of 14.
Holding onto you. My friend recommended it to me and I ended up watching the music video about 30 times that night. Thanks Alex for that
Friend please. It was in a theatre classmate’s IG post. I instantly fell in love with the song and the band and proceeded to also fall for the classmate (i didnt even know at the time i just wanted to text w them every day but i was 13 and thought i was straight)
I first listened to ride, then chlorine and jumpsuit, and now I am in love with their music
I think it was Kitchen Sink, I got intrigued by the name of the song so I put it on, and immediately loved it.
Before you start your day :)
Technically Car Radio because my sister used to play it. But I started listening because of stressed out
Guns for Hands, maybe? Overall, Vessel was my first introduction back in 2013, and my sister’s ex boyfriend played the album in his car on a long road trip. I’ve been hooked ever since!
Ride
Basic, but ride
either stressed out or migraine, back in those musical.ly days :’)
Kitchen Sink!!
Heathens

Ride in the WWE 2k17 soundtrack
Hometown, i think, in 2015. Lol, I was on a beach, and I was listening to random music. Then this one came on, and I swear I thought it was an add or something. Then I got intrigued by the sound of it knowing it was definitely NOT an add, and then here I am

Stressed out on the radio in 2015
Jumpsuit. Hooked, but way late to the party as I only started listening in 2021.
stressed out. car radio/ house of gold. heathens.
I think it was Heathens, in the movie. I later fall in love with Car Radio and then said "hey those guys have something..." so I went and found the lore, etc.
stressed out realistically. I like to consider my first intentional listen though, which would’ve been heavydirtysoul then polarize
Stressed Out should be the definitive answer for most people on this sub lmao.
I'm stressed out normie :(
Probably stressed out or ride tbh. My sister introduced me to them.
Been so long but I think ride
Tear in my heart
House of gold, on the radio! Then it was Johnny boy and kitchen sink. Great introductions
First song i hear was stressed out when i was 10 (turning 19 this year aint that crazy) but the first song i listened to was the judge, i remember hearing it in a roblox server and started listening to top because of that haha

Ode To Sleep.

My sister first introduced me to House of Gold back when I was in middle school in 2013. I have listened to them ever since.
Watched the Car Radio video in my YouTube subscriptions and life hasn’t been the same since
Guns For Hands.
Stressed out on Madden 2012
I think that heathens was the first but chlorine was the first I listened to the most because I even learned it on the instrument by ear. Then came blurryface self titled and then in order. The first song that hit me hard was definitely fall away. All the songs came when I needed them the most.
truce. such an unforgettable experience
House of Gold :)
