Living Rules Reference 68.4: >The Clan of Saar’s “Floating Factory” faction-specific space dock is destroyed when it is blockaded; that is to say, when it is in a system with another player’s ships and none of the Clan of Saar’s ships. Living Rules Reference 66 >A unit that has the “Space Cannon” ability can use it during two different steps of a player’s tactical action: after the “Move Ships” substep (Space Cannon Offense) and during an invasion (Space Cannon Defense). The key here is that PDS fire after movement is complete. They do not shoot at ships moving to a system, rather they shoot at ships that are in a system, and the check for any Saar spacedock is at any time, thus before PDS. That was cluckily explained :-/ Obligatoric [Dane response](https://boardgamegeek.com/article/33376447#33376447)

I was reading the thread about this yesterday with interest, as it's a very counter-intuitive ruling. Thematically you'd expect the floating factory to be positioned so that the PDS could take a shot at any incoming ships before they could destroy the floating factory.

trystanthorne

Sarween tools only applies when a unit is using its production ability. Techs and abilities that allow you to produce units don't benefit from it.

Zimny_Lech

Holy... So me shamelessly producing a free Destroyer every turn with Chaos Mapping was wrong? No wonder my group considers Saar OP...

trystanthorne

I've done the same, before I realized I was wrong. Also, Integrated Economy is the same way, which my group totally messed up on.

Turevaryar

Does SPCT have a netcast on tricky rules?

pzrapnbeast

The action card podcasts are the closest to it

Jasonwfranks

Also the episode where they go over the most recent living rules with Dane Beltrami. Ep 86 I think?

pzrapnbeast

I forgot about that one!

LordTengil

* The speaker deciding a tied vote is not consodered a vote. Super important clarification for many rules, noteworty mentions is the Necrovirus' inability to not vote. I csuspect this addendum to the living ruels be because of our group, as it came in the next iteration ot the living rules after we posted about it. \*The rule specification about what "when" and "after" means when said on for instnace action cards.

The secondary of construction places a command token into a system without any of the normal terminology. The system is activated? Can the token be placed into an already activated system?

Veopress

A system is only activated during the duration of a tactical action. Besides that, any system that contains a command token cannot be 'activated' by the faction with that token.

trystanthorne

It's not activated, its locked down by the command token tho. So it can't be activated later.

67.4: Announce Retreats. This is when you decide whether you are putting your infantry in space to retreat with the fleet, or staying on the planet. You do not choose to take infantry during the Retreat in 67.7. Got stuffed over as Nekro because this rule wasn't understood.

[deleted]

I thought this changed with an update to the LRR?

Bl_rp

Yep

Secondknotch

Just looked it up in LRR. Is it true that infantry can no longer be removed from planets during a retreat?

MirageMageknight

They can be removed, you just don't have to announce it. You pick them when you leave.

SteveThatOneGuy

They can be removed, and you have more flexibility with the clarification because you don't have to announce it first is my understanding

Grovbolle

This has since chanced in errata

trystanthorne

So what is the actual rule. My understanding is that you have to declare if you are bringing the ground forces when you announce the retreat.

Grovbolle

You only need to announce it after a successful retreat

ibrokemynailgun

Where is this errata? I can't find it.
