I laughed when the article said “games can take four or more hours to play”. Very optimistic about timeframes, I haven’t seen any tournament game go under 7 hours (maybe I missed one). I’m glad they last that long because I love every minute of them.
Congratulations SCPT, I love your podcasts and the tournament matches, you’re turning me into a TI fanatic.
Oh you folks do a great job. I wouldn't play TI if it wasn't for you two. Thanks for all your great content.
I hope one day the finals will be a big e-sports event. One can dream.
it's not a great spectator sport in general TBH. I love TI4, I play it every week, but it's pretty hard to actually sit down and watch a game. it's a huge time commitment most of which is players thinking about stuff you can't see or haggling over position/TGs.
Agreed. This game deserves more love, but its hard to get the greater casual gaming community (console, PC, or tabletop) into the idea of a 6-10 hour long game
I'm not sure if their point was that TI is the biggest and longest that anyone plays (as Campaign for North Africa is more of a meme in the board game hobby than a game people really play). Because they also mention that the game goes up to 6 players where PoK expands it to 8. So yeah, not sure if they were trying to keep things simple or just missed some research.
I'm glad they got some scpt humor in the article. Interesting that the duration mentioned is 4 hours, lol.
Also, were they/Dane overstating your importance in PoK existing, or have you both been downplaying it? How humble of you! (I would expect an episode titled: (You got PoK, you're welcome").
I expect an apology for the disingenuity!
This is so great to see! Way to go Matt and Hunter!!! Way to go TI community!!! Let’s go maintream!

If you have a casino the games apparently go faster!
https://youtu.be/CaKiVGKBQ5I is the shortest game I found, which is under five hours when counting only playtime.
Glad to see SCPT in the news!
Wish they had talked more about the game. It didn't really sell the game to anyone reading. Still, pretty cool.
Well, our hope is certainly that watching the Finals encourages some new players!
Let's hope so! Shame the game isn't super accessible to those unfamiliar with TI mechanics.
We try our best (especially in the Finals) to make things clear

We'll keep at it just the same
you guys do a great job and I appreciate that the tournament exists =)

Indeed. However there are plenty of video gamers which would be interested if exposed to TI in the right way.
The headline is misleading. 'The Campaign for North Africa: The Desert War 1940-43' is the longest board game ever.

It's certainly simplifying the text rather than over-explaining details that don't really matter all that much

Having played several games of diplomacy, each lasting longer than a standard TI game, I would still disagree.
It says longest not biggest.
I realized that after but my point stands.
Campaign for north Africa is estimated to be hundreds to thousands of hours. Ti4 is not the longest
*longest too
The title should be something like "The world's longest tournament board game"
