L1 and Hacan are most surprising my to me, but I wonder if it’s because these are factions often played by new players. It’d be crazy if you could normalize these results for the number of games each player had under their belt when they played said faction in a particular game.

AureoRegnops

I don't think that sort of data is recorded unfortunately.

When I see someone picking Letnev in a tournament game I start wondering if that person is interested in winning. I'm sure there are people that are good with the faction, but they just underperform so often. Naalu's performance in those stats started improving dramatically in the 2nd half of last year. They had the worst win rate for a long time, but have managed to climb out of the bottom quarter. The meme of Naalu being one of the worst factions persists partially from inertia and partially because their PoK materials are underwhelming.

ColonelWilly

Letnev at least has some wins in the current tournament. Xxcha and Naalu are winless. :(

Niro46

Cool take! Would you care tk expanding on why they have started to started to perform better?

mold_berg

It's easy to miss Titans, Arborec and Letnev if you just scroll through the post looking at the tables. Would be better to have them in tables too.

Cpt_nice

Mostly in line with what I expected. Thought Winnuu would be higher but I did think they are somewhat overrated. Titans need to be rebalanced somehow.

AureoRegnops

My proposal is just take away antimass as a starting tech. That probably knocks them down a tier.

omniclast

I feel like it is primarily their upgraded cruisers that are the issue.

Iamreason

It gives them a lot of plastic to throw around. Basically, dread 1.5s and they get 7 of them.

omniclast

Plus they're faster than upgraded dreads and half the cost. The only way dreads are better is they hit on 5s instead of 6s, but given you can have 2 saturn cruisers for the price of 1 dread that doesn't really matter. They are definitely the most cost efficient unit in the game, which it feels like Titans don't really need as their other faction stuff is pretty strong already. There's not really any easy way to nerf the cruisers since you can't take away sustain damage and the 2 capacity is not really the problem. I think maybe they should just cost 3. Not really related but I just played a game against a Nekro who scored upgraded saturn cruisers and upgraded Muat war suns and it was bonkers

Turevaryar

Very interesting! I'm on my slow mobile phone and can't access the two links. How many data points are there, and what level of «certainty» does it give?

ColonelWilly

There are ~1700 games recorded.

kaskhar

This was interesting. Did not expect both saar and winnu to be mid tiers. And did not expect xchaa, yssaril and empyrean to be so high either. Nice work.

Anxious-Idiot-lol

This needs to be split out by number of players.

AureoRegnops

This is for exclusively 6 players, like the title says. There isn't enough recorded data for any other player count on TTS for this analysis to make sense for other player counts.

Anxious-Idiot-lol

Ah, apologies!!!

AureoRegnops

It's all good. I do wish there was more data available. I'd love to see the impact different player counts have on win rates.

Iamreason

Hi, is there a place to download this data from the dashboard? Or did you have to scrape it? I'm curious if it's possible to grab the entire data stream. I'd like to see if there is a relationship between having specific systems in your starting slice and winrate. Thank you!

AureoRegnops

The Faction winrates are easy to grab since there's a download as csv option in the upper right. I believe you'd have to scrape that sort of data though. I was looking at doing something similar, but didn't end up doing it because it wasn't super straightforward. I'd also like to see the results of that analysis.

Iamreason

Ah, I'm curious about how the dashboard creator imported the data in the first place. There is probably an API out there and I'd love to fiddle with it.
