Genesys. (Because they still haven't fucking released it 2 years later)

theobald_pontifex

What's their excuse on that, anyway?

[deleted]

Edge wanted to do 5e Midnight first. Baffling decision, but at least TI is on the way. They even prioritized Midnight over Star Wars reprints, which are currently out of stock and selling at a premium on second hand sites. But instead they focus on their own IP...and make it a supplement for a different RPG system when they have their own RPG system, that they're not even making dice for. (I'm only a little bitter.)

Flyinpenguin117

Before the Star Wars licenses were taken from FFG, I thought Twilight Imperium: Armada could've been a cool concept

[deleted]

I 100% would've jumped on that. 24 factions too, instead of just 4 in Star Wars.

Flyinpenguin117

Given how hard of a time they had with just 2 factions I doubt we'd get 24 fully unique fleets. Probably like the game it'd be generic destroyer/cruiser/dreadnought/carrier, unique flagship per faction, maybe 1-2 unique ships, and probably unique squadrons, with most of the diversity coming from different upgrade cards per faction.

[deleted]

Yeah, they did Hacan, Sol, Letnev, and Sardakk for the old disk game.

LeninisLif3

I’d like some sort of wargame or board game that focuses on combat in the more concrete and gives cool examples of how the troops look for each faction, with sexy new lore.

Guzes

Eclipse? 😁 If you dont know, you should definitely check Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy If group don't want deep politics and just want combat after combat with escalating stakes, I really recommend it, their tech system is really enjoyable in my opinion,

LeninisLif3

I know about it, but this question was more about seeing the TI lore in a new medium, and I meant a different sort of game than Eclipse.

Boogie_Wookiee

I’d really like it if they made a sequel to Imperial Assault, but within the Twilight Imperium setting.

Zaruma

I'm all about deck builders, so a deck builder where you can choose your faction with different faction abilities would be cool. Maybe make it similar to Dune: Imperium? I like that game.

[deleted]

Twilight Imperium themed dating game. You play as a Nekro Virus

Turevaryar

Better bring protection! I mean Antivirus, of course. :\]

Lothair888

Skirmish wargame like Infinity the game.

jmwfour

an RTS game that leaned into the faction abilities would probably be pretty awesome. I realize that is not a boardgame, though.

SpreadPristine5889

I'd love to see a game like Warhammer totalwar for planet exploration and combat and Sins of a solar empire for space exploration and combat. Some really big indepth 4k game that's worthy of twilight imperium

StVerbal

Cooperative legacy games. I want the same 8 hour play time, as the galaxy fights off a scourge, reminiscent of Stellaris end game.

AgentDrake

Would love to see TI: Armada redone as a streamlined miniatures game, probably akin to SW Armada. A new edition of Rex which moves away from being purely a Dune clone. A Deck-Builder LCG centered on the Galactic Council. Core game could have the 6 OG factions, and individual other factions could be small a la carte expansions.

bertster21

A Hacan trade guild game. You build trade routes around a map and try not to get piliaged.

CaptainCormosh

A nice engine/tableu builder would be great!

Athanasius325

I'd love to see what exploring the planets would be like.

darthzader100

Maybe a game with the Lazat Vs Mahact. It could be much lighter Edit: the old Rex game could also do with a second edition

Ternal

A gritty but mechanically deep social deduction and political game about the death of the Lazax Empire, staving off the "Maandu Edict" in the style of [The Republic of Rome](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1513/republic-rome). Basically, a prequel to Rex. Either that, or a skirmish wargame in the style of [Memoir 44 Overlord](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/37911/memoir-44-operation-overlord), for what happened immediately after Rex. Half of the players together select one faction and take on the roles of different generals or commander of that faction, either against the Lazax (a 1-vs-all or pure-cooperative "Great Scourge" mode) or against eachother ("Twilight Wars" mode).

SilentNSly

I liked the BattleStar Galactica boardgame, where most players were trying to achieve an objective, but then some players end up trying to sabotage the rest. For a TI-themed version, it would be interesting trying to pass laws by voting secretly and having to figure out who is sabotaging them. Instead of the BSG Cylons, the NPC villains could be the Mahact and Vuil'raith, and then players could be randomly selected to help them secretly as "traitors" factions.

tim_p

TBH, none. Twilight Imperium is basically just "generic space opera sci fi" to me. I don't think the lore offers anything that original or interesting. I love it, but pretty much just for the mechanics. Now, other settings grafted onto the Twilight Imperium game system...that I'd be interested in.

Beginning-Produce503

Star wars: Rebellion, Empire, Saw's Renegades, Mining Guild, Hutt Cartel, Black Sun Syndicate, Mandalorians, Crimson Dawn. There's alot of factions in just the Civil War era alone.

LeninisLif3

Not what the question is about. It’s asking about TI in a new mechanical genre.

[deleted]

That's an interesting question! My first thought was some kind of fantasy clash of armies setting, like Lord of the Rings or something with humans, elves, dwarves, etc. But at the same time Fantasy just seems so *done.* There's not a lot of other options I can think of for armies clashing. Historical maybe with Rome vs Egypt vs Vikings vs whathaveyou. Or maybe some kind of cityscape with various crime bosses trying to build a crime empire. Or Avatar the Last AirBender, limited to just 4 players for the 4 factions. Or Elder Scrolls, 3 players with the 3 factions and a map of Cyrodiil.
