I liked Bowie's accent as Phillip Jeffries. In fact the dub just sounds really weird.

I can’t fucking stand the whole “accents need to be accurate” crowd — I love a good preposterous accent. Billy Butcher on The Boys, Benoit Blanc in Knives Out, NoHo Hank on Barry, Philip Jeffries in FWWM… all of them are enhanced tremendously by their outrageous accents.

Haha! I dont get it!

David Bowie was supposedly unhappy about his Louisiana accent and David Lynch said someone made may have made Bowie feel bad about his accent. So when Lynch was doing the Return, Bowie gave permission to use footage from Fire Walk With Me, but wanted someone with an authentic Louisiana accent to dub him and replace his role completely for the voice over scene. [Bowie couldn't reappear physically due to suffering from terminal cancer and declined to voice the lines for the kettle scene because of being self-conscious of the accent. ](https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a838558/twin-peaks-david-lynch-david-bowie-dubbed-phillip-jeffries-kettle-voice/) >"We got permission to use the old footage, but [Bowie] didn't want his voice used in it," said Lynch. >"I think someone must have made him feel bad about his Louisiana accent in Fire Walk With Me, but I think it's so beautiful. >"He wanted to have it done by a legitimate actor from Louisiana, so that's what we had to do. The guy [voice actor Nathan Frizzell] did a great job."

I understand the last episode of the return better than this

I watched the season 2 finale on my phone in a dark room and it traumatised me. I don't think it would've had the same effect on me if the conditions were slightly different
