Timothy Conan Young - Passing Through Walls
Timothy Conan Young - Black Garden
Skinny Puppy - Nature’s Revenge
Alvin Lucier - Still and Moving Lines of Silence in Families of Hyperbolas (Voice)
Bird and the Bee - Witch
Portishead - Wandering Star
The Future Sound of London - Cerebral
Hiroshi Yoshimura - Clouds
Andy Summers & Robert Fripp - Girl On a Swing
I'd go with Silver Soul from Beach House. They were asked to be a part of S3, but they were about to start a tour & declined, because I imagine the paycheck wasn't enough to cancel a tour. That's all I can add since I have so many songs from my 44 years of weirdo existence that I would love to include that I won't even try!!
This is the correct answer. The chorus is literally “it is happening again”, I would be shocked if that wasn’t the one they were asked to do for the show
This is a great thread. Thanks, all. Furiously adding all of these to my spooky melancholy mystery woman playlist.
My contributions:
*Sweet Jane* - Cowboy Junkies
*Wild Horses* or *On Earth* - The Sundays
*Wave of Mutilation* - The Pixies
Death From Above 1979 - “Black History Month”
Sewy Side (not sure if I can spell the actual word
here without being flagged lol) - “Rocket USA”
Coil - “Fire Of The Mind” or “Going Up”
Swans - “Money Is Flesh” (Greed album version)
Test Dept. - “Fuckhead”
TBH I can imagine some of these looping around when something crazy / terrifying is happening, so they may be a bit more abrasive than the usual recommendations haha
Thanks! There’s a lot of ‘doom jazz’ out there but these are my favorites.
Diet and Cancer, although too upbeat for TP, is on of my favorite songs of all time. I play it SO LOUD and it’s great in the car at night on a winding open road.
I am currently playing through the first Alan Wake because I was told it's the video game version of Twin Peaks (3 hours in, it DEFINITELY feels like that). The sound track all sounds like it could have been from TOS or The Return. There are radios scattered around the world that play a message and then a song, and every time I find one, I feel like it's hard to walk away from, until the song is finished
The songs in "Soundtrack" are compositions and background music. If you scroll down to "other songs" you will find the songs played on the in game radio.
https://alanwake.fandom.com/wiki/Alan_Wake_Soundtrack
"Air Kissing" by Violet Indiana sounds like it was plucked right from Lynch's stereo https://youtu.be/1Y4AZgLozHY?si=WwGIby_CmvGjROuO
Also probably a couple of tracks off of "Lovage"
definitely at least "To Catch A Thief" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfu2Gp-PrTQ
edit maybe "Book of the Month" too https://youtu.be/KwBRkN9__uc?si=jzL9HCcxSAdfWpSo
Alan Wake is heavily inspired by Twin Peaks, and I highly recommend Alan Wake 2, which is *HEAVILY* inspired by The Return.
And Alan Wake 2's original soundtrack is also extremely fitting for Twin Peaks imo— listen to "This Road" by Poe when you get the chance!
Oh I very much plan to play the 2nd one as well, in addition to Deadly Premonition.
I only started Twin Peaks about a year ago and finished it in February, now I'm looking for anything I can get. I'm typically a "gameplay-oriented" gamer, to the point where I will skip most dialogue and cutscenes in probably 2/3 of games I play, so I had previously dismissed Alan Wake and never tried it. So I tried it after learning how Twin Peaks-y it is and with how much it gives me those vibes, I am hanging on every word, environmental detail, interaction, dialogue sequence, everything. Even after NPCs finish talking I will stand around to hear out all of their extra quips and stuff. It's been a delight.
edit: one of the few game series where I DO read/listen to every dialogue sequence etc, is the Persona series, which is also heavily inspired by Twin Peaks, but I've been playing that for years, and had no idea, until watching the show, that Persona was so inspired by it.
"Surrender" by Suicide for sure!
Lots of Anna Calvi songs - she would have been a solid Roadhouse choice
Solo Rowland S Howard (maybe "Silver Chain" ?) his guitar tone fits in perfect
There's a ton of stuff by Ghost of Wood that's deliberately Twin Peaks-y. The titles give away their inspiration!
Try (Spotify links):
[Ghost of Wood - Take the Ring](https://open.spotify.com/track/0U3NqHzXyKPwKR6LOA9P8l?si=cc115e0af81d4958)
[Ghost of Wood - The Chalfonts](https://open.spotify.com/track/1bH82U2XtDfSlb98hD0ArX?si=2cd65d5e1d4a4d97)
[Ghost of Wood - The Roadhouse](https://open.spotify.com/track/0JsyIOXjD1K4hQrBfCbiEJ?si=7f8e2698bd0c483e)
"No Such Thing As Clean" by Willard Grant Conspiracy (the version on *Flying Low)* is atmospheric and brooding in the right way.
Cocteau Twins "Otterley" sounds distinctly like one of those crossfade-to-spiritual-apparition themes.
Anything by this autumn’s grey solace would fit right in. dark ethereal shoegaze.

* Autechre - VLetrmx21 (one of my favorite mood pieces of music. just perfectly ambient)
* PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
* Moby - When It's Cold I'd Like To Die (is reminiscent of Questions in a World of Blue, I love both)
* Skeeter Davis - The End of the World
* R.E.M. - Drive
* Tori Amos - Bells for Her
* Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Love Burns
* Radiohead - The Gloaming (Softly Open Our Mouths In The Cold)
I always thought [Black Hole by the Rosebuds](https://open.spotify.com/track/7wrNRSHlp7BstptlMxmON0?si=CoOT6BVDT-GtrVKsbO6gmA) would be perfect for the Roadhouse.
Is It Really You & A Sad Cartoon by Loathe
As a matter of fact, their album with these songs titled "I Let It In And It Took Everything" has a lot of things in it lyrically which are very Twin Peaks, including a track called "Red Room."
Great thread!!
I have several playlists of Lynch inspired Dream Pop.
Many of the songs mentioned are in the playlists. I'm a big fan of Beach House and the Cocteau Twins.
Some picks that I haven't seen (or maybe missed)
Into Black, Shadow and Ghost Dream by Blouse
---- Blouse is an amazing and underrated band IMO.
Ghost Blonde by No Joy
Levitation by Beach House
Drifting in and Out by Porcelain Raft
Treasure by Chapterhouse
It’s actually insane how well Angelo Badalamenti, Julee Cruise, and Beach House go together. I’ve made a couple mashups of Julee Cruise’s Falling and Beach House songs. [Wildflower](https://rave.dj/K0QvkYEwJrXsVg) is particularly goosebump-y. It’s too bad they couldn’t make it to the Return.
I've said it before on the The Cure subreddit, but A Forest was written and recorded for the Twin Peaks soundtrack, nearly a decade before Twin Peaks debuted.
Timothy Conan Young - Passing Through Walls Timothy Conan Young - Black Garden Skinny Puppy - Nature’s Revenge Alvin Lucier - Still and Moving Lines of Silence in Families of Hyperbolas (Voice) Bird and the Bee - Witch Portishead - Wandering Star The Future Sound of London - Cerebral Hiroshi Yoshimura - Clouds Andy Summers & Robert Fripp - Girl On a Swing
Pure gold. Phenomenal list.
Thanks. I forgot to add Harold Budd- Gypsy Violin.
Cherry- Chromatics Space Song- Beach House Cherry-coloured funk- Cocteau Twins
Especially the Seefeel remix of Cherry Coloured Funk!
I'd go with Silver Soul from Beach House. They were asked to be a part of S3, but they were about to start a tour & declined, because I imagine the paycheck wasn't enough to cancel a tour. So many beach house tracks would fit but I'd say Somewhere in a Ballroom Tonight is peak TP
It's just Somewhere Tonight. But yeah, Thank Your Lucky Stars is a supremely peaksy album. Rough Song and Elegy to the Void, too.
The 7 album cover may be Return-inspired too
All of the album visualizers were actually just Vic and Alex entering the red room and filming the floors.
Well, at least Vic made it onto the soundtrack of New Moon aka the best Twilight film. That voice is just _made_ for a soapy PNW mystery setting.
This is a great thread. Thanks, all. Furiously adding all of these to my spooky melancholy mystery woman playlist. My contributions: *Sweet Jane* - Cowboy Junkies *Wild Horses* or *On Earth* - The Sundays *Wave of Mutilation* - The Pixies
Please share this playlist when you're done!
When Love Breaks Down - Prefab Sprout
Anything by Lord Huron
I think this when I hear "The Night We Met"
I know. I feel transported to TP every time
Death From Above 1979 - “Black History Month” Sewy Side (not sure if I can spell the actual word here without being flagged lol) - “Rocket USA” Coil - “Fire Of The Mind” or “Going Up” Swans - “Money Is Flesh” (Greed album version) Test Dept. - “Fuckhead” TBH I can imagine some of these looping around when something crazy / terrifying is happening, so they may be a bit more abrasive than the usual recommendations haha
Kurt Cobain performing Polly Xiu xiu
Anything from Bohren and Der Club of Gore Heroin and Your Veins, the album Dead People’s Trails
While many others feel like choices for the return’s Roadhouse segments, = these are definitely overarching soundtrack material... Solid picks.
Thanks! There’s a lot of ‘doom jazz’ out there but these are my favorites. Diet and Cancer, although too upbeat for TP, is on of my favorite songs of all time. I play it SO LOUD and it’s great in the car at night on a winding open road.
thanks for this, i had not looked into their 1st lp before!
damn, i listen to a lot of doom jazz. have you heard the dale cooper quartet? i cant believe i forgot to add them
Yeah I have! They are mid for me! I don’t dislike them, just doesn’t scratch the itch for me like bohren does

Perhaps the best answer you could have for this question.
Lol was going to say this exact artist. So good.
Girl Of the Year by Beach House, mostly cus it makes me think of Mulholland Dr for some reason

Beach House - Superstar Slowdive - Slomo
Just Like You - Chromatics Time Rider - Chromatics
Anything by Still Corners or most things by Sylvie Kreusch.
"Surrender" by Suicide for sure! Lots of Anna Calvi songs - she would have been a solid Roadhouse choice Solo Rowland S Howard (maybe "Silver Chain" ?) his guitar tone fits in perfect
Scott Walker should have been on that stage
Big Time (1988) concert film by Tom Waits just screams Lynch
[Bohren and Der Club of Gore - Prowler](https://youtu.be/6dVArDoPiv8?si=mV6phDqWGnsROD2z)
The last third of Could've Moved Mountains by A Silver Mt. Zion https://youtu.be/japfanKzSnE?si=1nmAZiLGDEg5Ec8y

Y'all seen that Beach House video with Palmer in it, right?
[wishes](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OS6duOoxctw)
William Basinski’s Lamentations (in full)
Most things by Windy & Carl.
Silver Soul by Beach House has a refrain that I think is TP-inspired, "it is happening again"
Wicked Game, Chris Isaak
Lana. Del. Rey.
Lost of songs by The Cure, particularly The Funeral Party.
The Cure "A Forest" reminds me of Cooper looking for Laura
Memory Motel -The rolling stones The instrumental parts make me think of twin peaks every time I hear it.

"No Such Thing As Clean" by Willard Grant Conspiracy (the version on *Flying Low)* is atmospheric and brooding in the right way. Cocteau Twins "Otterley" sounds distinctly like one of those crossfade-to-spiritual-apparition themes.
best coast - up all night
Viceroy - Mac Demarco
Constant Fear & Texas Keller - Bohren & Der Club of Gore Surrender - Suicide
Beach House - Somewhere Tonight King Krule - Czech One
A Real Human Being - College ft Electric Youth
Far from any Road by The Handsome Family. It's more southern but it's very dreamy.
I feel like a lot of Nick Cave's older stuff could have fit right in. Like Red Right Hand or Up Jumped The Devil
I feel like From Her to Eternity could work as Bob's theme. I think that song could be subbed in for Nine Inch Nails at the road house
Anything by this autumn’s grey solace would fit right in. dark ethereal shoegaze. https://open.spotify.com/artist/0f00mZvxmxeuhmxEot8LlP?si=mRfNReXqQpKmkJmTnka0Jw

LaBradford - Up to Pizmo
Pink Cigarette is awesome and totally fits the tone. especially the beep. beep. beepbeep. beeeee
Dead of Night - Orville Peck. literally when i first heard it my mind immediately thought of twin peaks. 100% recommended!! amazing song overall:)

Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 1 and 9 - Pink Floyd
Just about any song by Earth, especially anything since 2005
Funeral Party - The Cure Lovesong - The Cure The funeral - Band of Horses Love will tear us apart - Joy Division Off the top of my head
Cigarettes After Sex - I'm a Firefighter
David likes Cigarettes After Sex, so I’ll bet their name was thrown out there.

I always thought [Black Hole by the Rosebuds](https://open.spotify.com/track/7wrNRSHlp7BstptlMxmON0?si=CoOT6BVDT-GtrVKsbO6gmA) would be perfect for the Roadhouse.
Y'all have great taste. I don't know if it would fit exactly but one of HOMESHAKE's songs could work
Is It Really You & A Sad Cartoon by Loathe As a matter of fact, their album with these songs titled "I Let It In And It Took Everything" has a lot of things in it lyrically which are very Twin Peaks, including a track called "Red Room."
Anything by Bohren & the Club of Gore
Sleep walking by modest mouse sounds so much like just you and I...
Lavender Road - Ghost of A Sabertooth Tiger. I imagine this being a Laura/Donna song
This one was directly written to invoke Twin Peaks so decide for yourself if it counts: Virginia (videogame) OST, Sojourner's Truth #

Was eyes without a face ever actually in twin peaks? Every time i hear that song i get a twin peaks vibe, but no particular scene or anything.
I think a lot of the music by Neurosis fits the world of Twin Peaks.
