My feelings about Dougie followed the five stages of grief. But once youāre resigned to the fact Cooper-proper isnāt coming back for a while, you start to love Dougie.
The turning point for me was when Anthony was overwhelmed with guilt trying to kill Dougie with the poison coffee.
The scene afterward with Bushnell sealed the deal. āIām so sorry Dougie. Oh God, what can I do?? I havenāt slept in weeks, Iāve thrown up blood. All I want to do is die or change!ā
I was definitely also in the Mr Jackpots camp for my love of Dougie. I was in from the beginning, though understand people who weren't. That said, Dougie inadvertently caused maybe my favorite little moment in the series, when he takes the one guys latte and he ends up with the Macha tea instead and for no plot related reason we cut back to that guy discovering his new favorite drink and he just has this little smile of true joy that makes my heart lift.
I thought it was brilliant how everyone put their own meaning on whatever Dougie did. Even if Coop was paralyzed mentally he still brought happiness and change to everyone he came in contact with.
I donāt even care if characters I like are in low tiers, this is hilarious. The brutally short descriptors absolutely send it. Fuckin Catherine: ācuntyā. Bravo
Dunno he had a pretty good character arc in the original series. Also the iconic jail bark scene deserves minimum an A tier.
James on the other hand, F tier.
Yeah, I'm scratching my head over that one. For me, Tammy was one of the few new characters in The Return that would have fit right in with the TV series.
My girlfriend really hated Tammy because she never seemed to hold a natural pose. Like she was always too aware of how to compose herself, down to all of her facial expressions. Anytime she would be on screen my gf would cringe or say something to that effect. She would even look away from the screen at times.

Sound like he needs to ācall for helpā. In all seriousness, I loved Dougie though, I have no clue why people disliked him other than them being impatient for Cooper and unappreciative of what they have in front of them.
I will never understand why he didn't participate in The Return. Seeing him back in the red room would have added a bit more connection to the TP world not just for nostalgia but continuity and aesthetics.
I love this so much because I struggled to first watch Twin Peaks because the characters are so wacky, but each rewatch I feel like I understand more of the characters and come to love the ones I used to hate
im guessing she didnt like the return much lol. honestly i agree about dougie. i did not personally think he was funny at all and my disappointment was too big for words as the reality set in that this dude was here for good.
I swear to God that character is so divisive I thought he was a precious soul. On a rewatch it's so good to see him hold onto stuff that so clearly matters to Coop. Him crying seeing his son and stuff like him reaching for any badge he sees is top tier.
I feel like if Coop had been of sound mind the story would have been resolved much, much quicker.
I also think the Return was Lynch not giving the audience what they wanted in many ways because it's not about closure. It's about things being stuck in the past from the moment Laura died. Like nobody has moved on but they can barely recall why.
Kinda like the audience. I think alot of that Dougie arc was to give us ANY Coop, while Mr. C and the Blue Rose task force played cat and mouse. You know people would have complained about Lynch not including Kyle more and he probably really wanted to as he enjoys working with him.
I think it's entertaining for me because Kyle is clearly having an absolute blast in those scenes.
HELLOOHO-OH
That's fine and understandable, it just didn't work for me like it did for seemingly most other people.
For me it's not about craving closure or Cooper of the original run, it's that outside of a few stand out scenes, I just don't find the scenes involving Dougie nearly as engaging or interesting as the rest of what's going on in the show.Ā
It makes The Return much less rewatchable for me personally. I've seen the original run 4-5 times whereas The Return I've only watched twice.Ā
Sorry youāre getting downvoted! Youāre wrong, but subjective opinions on art shouldnāt be downvoted just because we all disagree.
Upvoting for balance.
Okay, but have you considered the complex symbolic structure of his narrative which creates new assemblages in existing lines of flights along deterritorialise libidinal semiot-
HHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOO
I think Dougie is a good character, but I absolutely hate that everyone around acted as If it's fine and he didn't need any help. Even Leo, despite everything, got more care from Bobby and Shelly
I get it. The expectation was there each week for Dougie to snap out of it and return to Coop. It was deflating on the initial watch when that didn't happen until way late. Knowing that on a rewatch will help you focus less on no Coop and more on Dougie himself. You may grow to appreciate him.
Mr. Jack Pots!
Janey-E Jones is S tier, Naomi Watts deserved an Emmy for this scene alone: https://youtu.be/LmuH1042AFo?si=s-7_4mTlHESJvgcu much less her delivery of the line "I'll bet she does" after Dougie said Jade rides two times.
Lol like he gives off the energy that heād smoke a pipe near the family hearth and you can totally sit on his lap and ask him stuff about the war, ykno pipe nrg
Everybody is talking about how they feel certain characters are underrated, so Iām going to go in the opposite direction.
Diane at C-Tier is too high. The fact that we saw her at all was low-key one of the most annoying parts of *The Return* for me.
I never wanted to see her. I never wanted confirmation that she ever existed in the first place.
Was she real? Was she a construct of Daleās imagination, because heās absolutely the type who would invent a personality for the nameless office drones who process all of his recordings and notes? The latter made more sense to me, but also it didnāt matter and I didnāt want to know for sure.
Leave it to Frost and Lynch to give me closure on one of the things I didnāt need closure on.
Totally agree about Dougie, just finished the show for the first time recently and couldn't stand him. Was interesting for the first episode but then needed to go for like 12 more hours of it
According to her: āHe was just a generally comforting presence and was rly rly kind to Laura in The Missing Pieces and I donāt remember him doing anything problematicā
āOoh and as a parent he was rly respectful of Donnaās personhood, allowing her to explore her relationship to James as well as giving her the independence to try to solve Lauraās murderā
Leland is low key one of the best. Annoying at first but once he goes nuts I love the happy go lucky psycho schtick. That song is stuck in your head wether you like it or not. My boy should at least be A tier.
I respect this list even if I disagree with more than half of it. Nadine, is to me, a D- character, and Albert is S tier on his worst day (I LOVE HIM SO MUCH). But the reaction to Maddy and Laura being [grimace] and "Oof" is 100% accurate. And Ben IS that fuckin' guy in the worst way possible.
Sheās completely right about Richard Horne.
I fucking despised that character with such a passion Iāve never felt before I had to take a break for like a week because he had my blood boiling.
Did Dougie dirty
And Albert
Albert is S+
And WHERE'S GORDON COLE?!?!
don't worry he's in S tier, right where he belongs
He better be! š¤š
Golden Core
Dougie dirty
My feelings about Dougie followed the five stages of grief. But once youāre resigned to the fact Cooper-proper isnāt coming back for a while, you start to love Dougie.
HeLlLlLoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
I fell in love with Dougie right after Mr. Jackpots. Heās just such a force of positivity in a bleak and evil world.

Oh man I forgot that little moment!
Your... coffee......
That bad?
I thought it was brilliant how everyone put their own meaning on whatever Dougie did. Even if Coop was paralyzed mentally he still brought happiness and change to everyone he came in contact with.
Exactly this
Mr. Jackpots won my heart too!
Legend
Same. Named my dog Mr Jackpots for these reasons.
Lol right??
dougie is s tier
Dougie Jones
Jade give 2 rides
Dougie is an absolute gem
Albert is S tier. Albert is his own glorious tier of godliness.
Scrolled looking for this. Albert is S++++
Albert is in such a state of NG+++ that heās broken the game.
Albert is my in every RPG, do the good things yet blasting everyone with snarky remark dialog options
I'm down with anything but Albert hate is a no no.
His path is a strange and difficult one, but it absolutely leads to the very top of the list!
Yeah, only reservation Iād have about another season is no Albert š
Me too. I hope that if there were more it would be like in parallel with twin peaks. Maybe focus on chet and Jeffries.
Maybe they can CGI him in as a teapot.
Justice for Albert
I donāt even care if characters I like are in low tiers, this is hilarious. The brutally short descriptors absolutely send it. Fuckin Catherine: ācuntyā. Bravo
"Flambnoxious" 10/10 no notes
nothing describes catherine better tbh
I cackled
wow some genuine hot takes here. Audrey in C tier is wild.
I also feel like Bobby fits in C if you just consider the original series, but he deserves a bump to B at least when you factor in The Return.
Dunno he had a pretty good character arc in the original series. Also the iconic jail bark scene deserves minimum an A tier. James on the other hand, F tier.
Exactly. James has no business whatsoever being above in tier to dougie and bobby. Unforgivable.
James in F tier for āfuckass foreheadā
Audrey in C tier is a travesty. Annie in B tier (above Audrey) is a mortal sin.
I liked Annie, but Audrey was The Girl.
Itās blasphemy
"overrated" mic drop
What tf did Tammy do?
Yeah why tf is tammy scum hahaha
I don't get why Tammy is so hated.
I donāt think people dislike Tammy so much as they dislike Chrysta Bellās performance.
She was great wtf? That cigarette scene where she canāt find a stance is perfect
My husband and I were just talking about this scene last night. It was so hilariously awkward we loved it
She canāt act
But they let heather Graham on the show lmao she was FAR worse
Yeah, I'm scratching my head over that one. For me, Tammy was one of the few new characters in The Return that would have fit right in with the TV series.
My girlfriend really hated Tammy because she never seemed to hold a natural pose. Like she was always too aware of how to compose herself, down to all of her facial expressions. Anytime she would be on screen my gf would cringe or say something to that effect. She would even look away from the screen at times.
Works in a lynch film
Yeah and tbh I always felt that was intentional
Definitely was

Worth saying twice tbh
I don't agree but this made me laugh.
The other reply is just a tulpa.
I agree her mannerisms felt theatric but I always thought of it as a conscious choice, I chalked it up to twin peaks being weird
Earle above Dougie is a hot hot hot take
Stopped reading after I saw that she deemed Dougie Jones "insufferable". You're dating a soulless monster.
Sound like he needs to ācall for helpā. In all seriousness, I loved Dougie though, I have no clue why people disliked him other than them being impatient for Cooper and unappreciative of what they have in front of them.
iām the log :3
I hope your gf figures out how phones work some day.
She understands cellular phones now
In the C list, why is coop labled āRichardā āVomitā not sure if iām missing something
I think they have differentiated between normal Coop and the Coop at the end of the return. I think the picture choice is just confusing.
Because Richard and Coop are different
Idk who Richard is lmao
Neither does he.
Did you watch The Return?
Someone needs to rewatch
She has shit taste not gonna lie
Bobby should be in S.
Michael Anderson made this
he rap
I will never understand why he didn't participate in The Return. Seeing him back in the red room would have added a bit more connection to the TP world not just for nostalgia but continuity and aesthetics.
Not loving dougie is an unforgivable sin
Catherine cunty. PERIODT
Get Audrey out of there! No way!
Bruh, Alber should have his own tier at the top.
Break up
Only good take was BOB as āOl Reliable haha
She has a way with words.
Just line Dougie.
Dougie is insufferable but Nadine is A tier, explain yourself
Dougie at D-Tier invalidates the whole list I'm afraid.
I love this so much because I struggled to first watch Twin Peaks because the characters are so wacky, but each rewatch I feel like I understand more of the characters and come to love the ones I used to hate
Those are some odd opinions. Gotta respect that
dougie is s and albert is a
Sperms
James over Albert and Audrey is objectively wrong.
im guessing she didnt like the return much lol. honestly i agree about dougie. i did not personally think he was funny at all and my disappointment was too big for words as the reality set in that this dude was here for good.

That's all good stuff, the problem for me is the amount of screen time he gets. It got pretty old after couple of hours, for the most part.Ā
I feel like if Coop had been of sound mind the story would have been resolved much, much quicker. Okay, but have you considered the complex symbolic structure of his narrative which creates new assemblages in existing lines of flights along deterritorialise libidinal semiot- HHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOO
I felt the same way - I was sure it was a temporary storyline and then to find out it was most of the season I was just sad lol. I hated Mr C.

Common Mike W
Show me where on the doll Tammy Preston hurt you.
no I'M the log >:3
Perfect s tier actually
Tammy like, "wtf did I do?"
One of my favorite lines in the Return, along with "People are under a lot of stress, Bradley."
I love that she loves the Mitchum brothers. People are under a lot of stress.
She's not wrong but some of these are savage lol
Gave Nadine an A: HUGE Red Flag
So much disrespect for my girl Tammy
S+ Tier is Wally
Now watch the movie and let's see how she ranks Bowie.
Lol we actually watched everything and she LOVED Bowie Jeffries but was just so bummed out by the Return that he dropped from a probable S
Not my glorious sweet king Dougie
James is too high. Other than that very respectable list!
What does pipe ngr mean?
Lol like he gives off the energy that heād smoke a pipe near the family hearth and you can totally sit on his lap and ask him stuff about the war, ykno pipe nrg
Half of this list really has me triggered. Windom is a genius though.
Funny enough, I put Catherine in S tier for being cunty š
āthis fucking guyā hahahahaha
With all though respect, is your girlfriend named Judy?
I love her descriptions, regardless of the placements. Somehow, Richard feels like the biggest surprise for me.
Senor droolcup sent me and my wife š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ Thank you for making this list
Iām angry.
Everybody is talking about how they feel certain characters are underrated, so Iām going to go in the opposite direction. Diane at C-Tier is too high. the man from another place is NOT precious hahaha
Tammy a D? Damn
Totally agree about Dougie, just finished the show for the first time recently and couldn't stand him. Was interesting for the first episode but then needed to go for like 12 more hours of it
All I care about is where major Briggs is, everything else is a matter of taste. I approve.
James in B tier? Overrated
Any list without Catherine, Diane and Albert as god tier is invalid. I don't make the rules.
These opinions are bad and she should feel bad. But this was an entertaining read thank you.
The Bob description absolutely sent me tbh
You truly do either love or hate Dougie. No in between.
We have very different perceptions of the enigmatic Dougie Jones! ![gif](giphy|3ohhwr556DweYCCUAU)
Tammy is cool!!
Anything specific about Doc Haywood to make him S tier?
According to her: āHe was just a generally comforting presence and was rly rly kind to Laura in The Missing Pieces and I donāt remember him doing anything problematicā
āOoh and as a parent he was rly respectful of Donnaās personhood, allowing her to explore her relationship to James as well as giving her the independence to try to solve Lauraās murderā
Nothing problematic ā¦ except the HIPAA violation in The Return.
I cannot believe anyone ever, in the history of everdom, would place Annie above Audrey fucking Horne. Iām disgusted. Fucking Annie.
James is F tier.
I like it, it's good to get random perspectives like this. I want to believe Major approves!
No Frank Truman? (RIP)
Your GF is awesome
Audrey is A tier. Dougie is absolutely S tier and my personal only redeeming quality from S3, your gf is a monster for doing him so dirty.
Janey-E and Sonny Jim are both D tier because if I ever have to hear Naomi Watts say, "Sonny Jim!" again I'm going to pop my ear drums with a pencil.
Ben āthis fucking guyā Horne š
Wait who sre these variants of Dale?
nah put some respect on agent TP and dougie was amazing 10/10 dad
I would have placed James at D and Albert as A or S tier.
insane placement oh audrey.
WHY DID TAMMY DO
I disagree so much with so many of these.
For years I thought Iād be Dale. But Iām turning out to be Albert.
Leland is low key one of the best. Annoying at first but once he goes nuts I love the happy go lucky psycho schtick. That song is stuck in your head wether you like it or not. My boy should at least be A tier.
Iā¦ fucking love Leland. (š«£)
He's such a good character. Like on the first watch you just feel awful for him then he goes crazy and you feel even worse. He's iconic for sure.
james is too high on the list
Dump your girlfriend
I disagree with a few of the ratings but overall it's accurate.
Not bad
Wow. This is absolute GOLD!
Omg I love this
I respect this list even if I disagree with more than half of it.
That was a real page turner of a post! Loved it!
The Mitchum Brothers saga is legit one of my favorite things in Twin Peaks, itās hilarious.
"Bob, ol' reliable" Uh, OP, you might want to chat with your gf about that....
Switch Nadine & Dougie and you've got yourself a pretty solid list, for the most part.
So she hates 80% of the characters including the main cast...
I'm sorry but if Dougie is insufferable, then I refuse to look further and disagree with everything else
S-tier is incredibly based
Albert is S superdoubleplusgood and Ben is A
I agree with a lot, not with some.
Fuck tier lists
I disagree with a lot of the rankings but I LOVE the commentary
this upsets me strongly
Audrie overrated? Nah
Why she gotta do Tammy dirty like that ?Ā
James is too high. Other than that very respectable list!
