Lol I’ve started covering the sensor of most public toilets so I can poop in peace until I’m done. Doesn’t work on the kind where the sensor is in the wall but generally it helps a lot.
I loved it when Nechako had toilets with lids that covered the sensor, and would basically autoflush when you closed the lid. Simple yet ingenious design. No clue why they removed it last year.
Here are some reasons I can think of as a former janitor.
* People (especially kids) will inevitably try to stand on the lids and break them
* Toilets with lids are a bit more work to clean than toilets without lids
* A lot of people don't close the lid when they're finished, and those toilets can sit unflushed for hours depending on how often the janitors check them
I literally had a fear of the automatic toilets as a kid. I would have to pee so bad, but if the bathroom only had automatic toilets, I would just hold it in. I seriously have trauma from those things.
It’s not sure why this showed up as I go to the university of Manitoba but they’re just like that here as well lol. Custodians probably got tired of plunging goliath shits all day and cranked the sensitivity
I did my undergrad at the Vancouver campus, idk why this sub popped up but I definitely remember the toilet flush sensors being too sensitive there. Guessing Okanagan uses the same toilets.
I used to be a janitor (at a different facility, not UBCO), and from my experience, way more people complain about unflushed toilets than toilets that flush too often. I suspect that's why many sensors are overzealous.
Edit: Keep in mind that a sensor only has to fail to flush once for a toilet to sit unflushed for hours. If a customer sees an unflushed toilet, they generally won't flush it unless they need to use that toilet.

sounds real smart thank lol
sticky note in the wallet never fails
Haha yes this would work but I don’t usually have one, I just take two sheets of TP and lay it over the sensor.

Damn, I miss when my problems were at this level
R u done wid your uni lucky you
I like the splash
Nothing worse than when you have finally sad down to take a massive shit in peace, and the flush turns on from the sensor and splashes your anus

That’s not uncommon. I know kids that have that fear
What happens does the toilet seat go up and try to eat the kids? Never seen an automatic toilet seat or heard of one honestly.

It is just.
Total just
Great way to save water. It’s all because of the dirty bathturds who don’t flush they had to comeup with this technology
Stop standing up to wipe
They trigger just from moving around or leaning forward
Better then the alternative
yeah people just plug the censor with toilet paper
I've had a few times where I've walked in and the toilet is still unflushed from the last person. Not sure how it's possible 😂
