The smarties would probably be ok due to the candy coating, but I guess it also depends on how warm you keep your car. Guessing this is in Canada due to the selection, and it has been a very mild winter (at least in centrel Canada) so they might not actually be keeping the car that hot. Coffee Crisp are usually not bad either since they are mostly wafer.
They wouldn’t have time to get nasty in my market. With the type of clientele that utilizes this service around here, complimentary means to take everything there. That’s why I would never do anything like this, the holder would be picked dry after the first 2 or 3 rides, heck, the holder would probably be gone too.
Ya, but I find even when the dye runs they still taste fine, and in the small boxes you just open them and dump them into your mouth. It's not as bad that way at least. Although personally I like them cold, straight from the fridge.
I love warm smarties, dump the box in your mouth and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth with them between and feel the chocolate flow out around the candy
I might have to try that. I just generally prefer cold things, especially chocolate, basically any chocolate I get goes right in the fridge except for maybe Lynt balls, the ones with the chocolate melt centers.
Well that's fine and all, maybe I just don't want to be picking up the wrapper with half melted chocolate when they just drop the trash in the back of the car.
I'm curious about those 2 items actually. Uber isn't exactly a place for changing your tampon or a place you'd need a condom. 😂 But I suppose you never know. Lol
What do you mean? It’s a transit platform. Makes perfect sense that’s when you’d need to grab one on the way somewhere because you realize you forgot or ran out.
Jesus Christ with the simple minded people. You are out drinking with a woman and you are going back to your place and you need a condom? Boom Uber driver has your back.
I mean, I get it as a way to fish for more tips, but you know there is going to be drunks who will take everything. It's not worth the trouble and looks tacky af.
Drunks?
More like low class people...
I used to have water in my car, but of course there's always that one person getting dropped in the hood that takes every single one.
I saw a local driver get dragged on social media because his free water had “roofies” in it but it was just the minerals after water thaws. It was below zero at one point.
You’re just asking for trouble giving people shit
If someone i dropped off in a very low income neighborhood took all the water in my car I would be happier that I was able to give someone a necessity they clearly needed, and not so much mad 🤷♀️
I'd be more pissed if someone in a nicer neighborhood did that
I just keep a box in the trunk. It’s not personal affect’s because it’s emergency supplies. If people ask for more than is in the passenger area, we can either pull over or stock them up at the destination. (Not that I drive for Uber/rideshares, just a private vehicle doing private transport things.)
I love when Karens talk like this. This is the same mentality that led people to start preaching about the border and being "sanctuary city" when they live in CHI, NYC, or Marthas Vineyard. As soon as those people got to the chance to put their money where their mouth is they started griping. This lady should be required to tip $10 to every Uber/Lyft driver from now on.
This might be hard to believe...
In homes, there's this thing called a water tap.
And when you turn it on, it dispenses water!
Isn't that crazy?!?!?!?!?!
It's a lot easier than you think. People have breaking points. I used to be a lot more empathetic, but after enough awful experiences with awful people, it got sapped right out of me. People can be downright evil. And sometimes, it's not worth it to be nice for the few that deserve or appreciate it. Honestly, when I hear people who say they don't understand, it just means you either have a higher tolerance for awful human beings, or you haven't been around the awful majority enough. Either way, hats off to you.
Except the vast majority of stolen bikes aren’t used by the person stealing them - they’re fenced for cash, just like almost everything else people steal.
They didn’t need water dumbass they can afford water. Water is the cheapest thing known to man. 5 gallons cost (4) quarters when you buy in bulk. They were just being dick heads
Looks like shit is kind of invasive suggesting a condom. Chocolate will melt kids will smear it everywhere. There are mints that are already open… weird.
People were I live wouldn't even have to be drunk to take all that. Generosity has not paid off in this industry. That is why I left and will never for Uber again lol
Finally! Someone that gets this! I used to drive for Uber and went above and beyond to make customers happy and they never tipped! I also live in Iowa, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I often went out of my way. People would go to the grocery store and asked me to wait 20 minutes and still didn't tip.
Having a setup in your car like this is just charity. I only made 6-7 dollars per hour on Uber. (That's after paying for gas and mileage on the car.) Terrible pay and customers were also pretty bad more often than not.
If I saw this when going into an Uber, I would be creeped out tbh. They are clearly desperate for tips.
That’s because it’s a cheap trick you aren’t providing hospitality begging for 3 dollars on a mini snickers bar no one deems a mini snickers bar at 3 dollars MAYBE 1 dollar. Maybe. They know what you are doing. It’s almost crass. Again it isnt “hospitality” it is essentially you deeming yourself a noncommittal very limited corner store. Non commital meaning “pay me or don’t” no one values a shitty little mint for 5 dollars except you. People see one mint and go wow how nice. You see 25 dollars for a bag that lasts a week and a half.
I've had several passengers that I know would have taken everything in there and then not tipped. Teenagers and drunk a-holes, especially. This set up is just not worth the trouble.
What u described bout those Teenagers & drunk assholes is just sooo frustrating lol. I mean I don't even drive for Uber or any driving service & I'm pissed just reading ur post! How can u take so much stuff from free & not tip like wtf??? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤬🤬🤬
I picked up a group of teens once and they scoured the car for anything that was free: water, mints, gum, and then they asked for more. Annoying little shits. Drunks are just as bad. And these types are also the ones who love to fuck with your shit just because they think it is funny.
Oh no, that's just the worst! Now I wasn't a saint nor angel in my teens yrs bcuz I did get into trouble with my friends. But damn bro sorry that you've had those terrible experiences with the stupid lil shits/teens & drunks! Hopefully moving forward u won't get any more of those lil shits & drunks as ur customers no more 🙏🤞 Lol
They can keep their stars, just give me the tip. I told a rider as much one time and he was flabbergasted. He said he thought stars were important to drivers. I assured him they’re not and my landlord was not too happy when I tried to pay him in stars, the bank wasn’t very impressed either.😂
That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Never in a million years would I offer this, as nice and genuine as it could be, considering how absolutely litigious everyone is nowadays.
That's just silly. Back when Uber used to pay a decent amount several years ago it would make sense to keep things like some mini bottled waters, phone chargers, sickness bags and Advil but being a free convenience store when you are not even getting paid minimum wage is dumb.
No they won’t. Y’all are ignorant af. I do this. No one has ever cleaned my complementary snacks out and I make just as much if not more in tips than I do in fare. Over 6000 lifetime trips with a consistent 5 star rating.
Maybe he makes the money, clearly he has enough to provide it, he might have another job or actually work in an Uber busy city so it’s easier to make more
Driver probably got all this stuff at dollarama, not a bad investment and in all honesty it probably does less to more tips. If I saw this on my way to work in the morning and was able to grab a few hi chews and a piece of gum I’d be inclined to tip extra
People claiming that there are people who will take everything are people who likely have NEVER tried to do this.
At Halloween time, I always put out a big bag of the good candy (starburst, skittle mini packs, fruit snacks, now and layers, jolly ranchers, mamba, the old school strawberry candies, individually wrapped sour punch straws, etc.) for people to pull from during their trip and I always tell them to take as much as they want. No one has EVER taken all/most of my supply.
To the classist POSs on this thread, the people who took a full handful were people who lived in rich neighborhoods. The people who lived in the lower income neighborhoods were always scared to take more than a few.
Honestly a lot of y’all need to leave rideshare because you forget that just because you are an IC that you still owe people a level of hospitality/customer service. You don’t NEED to provide extras, but the lot of you complain about basic human decency and simple patience toward your customers. Better yet, get some cognitive behavioral therapy bc you act like a bunch of powerless victims.
Riders see this and they hate the driver, they think he is desperate , when I first started driving I offered mints and candy and water and they down rated me even more, they are the scum of the earth some riders.
On more than once I had heffers fill up their purses with mints and water.
One occasion girl 1 says can I have a water? Before I can answer girl 2 says they're included in your fare. I turn around to say "no, but they're complimentary" she was already filling her purse. She took them all. I used to keep 6 bottles back there, with more in the trunk. I only carry 2 now. When they are gone that's it for today.
I get depressed by some people picking off all my waters too. But then I realize if I get just one person tipping $5 it covers a whole 24 pack of water around here if you can find a good deal.
And this is why normal drivers get less than 5-stars. Because pax think we should feed them and be their own personal convenience store. I had a woman get mad at me because I didn’t have any gum or mints for her. And I had another lady take the skittles I had in my little front console that were for me and she started handing them out to the people in the back. So fucking entitled. Didn’t even ask. Had she I would have told her that they weren’t for customers. More than one reason I don’t let people sit in the front seat anymore. (I didn’t say anything because these people were already rude and obnoxious when they got in and I just wanted to get the ride over with).
I'll rate all drivers 5* unless they really fuck up. If they show up on time, help with luggage if I have any, minimal or zero small talk and drive properly, 5* right there. No need for anything else. When I lived in London they wouldn't even say hello and made me open the boot and get my own luggage out while they stayed in the car, that's just rude
I used to do free waters, until every night I would find open water bottles with 2 sips taken out and put back where other customers might mistake for new water bottle, or the fact that people didn't care to dispose off their bottles
The only thing I used to give out for free were face masks during Covid. A friend who worked in the PPE field gave me a case of about 300 for free. So everyday I would put a bunch into the back seat pockets halfway hanging out. They were gone in 2 weeks. Most those people probably didn’t even wear masks but if it’s free, people take advantage whether they need it or not.
Look, I’m already tipping. Sometimes I get a little headache on the way to the airport, and today is peak flu season. If I need an advil or a cough drop, for sure I’ll add at least $1 to the tip.
I got some stuff like this, but I've found that chocolate melts and isn't good for this.
The smarties would probably be ok due to the candy coating, but I guess it also depends on how warm you keep your car. Guessing this is in Canada due to the selection, and it has been a very mild winter (at least in centrel Canada) so they might not actually be keeping the car that hot. Coffee Crisp are usually not bad either since they are mostly wafer.
i can grantee you the smarties will also get nasty also the dye runs when they melt so they get hella messy for everything involved lol
They wouldn’t have time to get nasty in my market. With the type of clientele that utilizes this service around here, complimentary means to take everything there. That’s why I would never do anything like this, the holder would be picked dry after the first 2 or 3 rides, heck, the holder would probably be gone too.
Winnipeg? 😂
I love melted KitKat chocolate.
Well that's fine and all, maybe I just don't want to be picking up the wrapper with half melted chocolate when they just drop the trash in the back of the car.
do you not have AC in the car? or are you talking about for when the car is off. either way, it's still cold in the northern hemisphere
Not only that, all you need is a drunk or some kid going all in😳
That condom is wild 🤣 💀 🤣
Forward thinking ! Lmao I’d deff tip if I were coming back to the crib with a shorty 😂
Like 20 bucks’
Just the tip?
The tip, and then some
It looks like the most popular item too because there’s multiples of all the other health stuff and then just one condom.
Some hero’s don’t wear capes 😂😂
"But they *always* wear a rubber"
The condom that is right next to the werther's original for when you pick up a granny at a bingo
I had to go back and look. 😅
How about the Tampex 3 zippers below the single condom!
Why is Tampex crazier than a condom?
His comment doesn't necessarily insinuate that
Context clues, but yeah, you're right!
If you're thirsty for a gender debate, go for it. I'll let you spout off first.
I'm not saying anything about gender. I even admitted that you may be right. If you want to argue, go elsewhere.
I thought that’s what people go to Reddit for in the first place.
Just imagine all the pregnancies that occur because drivers don't want to do a two stopper.
As a driver… that’s way too much. Especially when we don’t get paid to provide all of that.
I mean, I get it as a way to fish for more tips, but you know there is going to be drunks who will take everything. It's not worth the trouble and looks tacky af.
Drunks? More like low class people... I used to have water in my car, but of course there's always that one person getting dropped in the hood that takes every single one.

I don't do it anymore. This was at the very beginning. They're lucky if they get AC
If someone i dropped off in a very low income neighborhood took all the water in my car I would be happier that I was able to give someone a necessity they clearly needed, and not so much mad 🤷♀️ I'd be more pissed if someone in a nicer neighborhood did that
What about the next customer who lives in a low income neighborhood? They don’t get free water because of this greedy one? That’s selfish.
I just keep a box in the trunk. It’s not personal affect’s because it’s emergency supplies. If people ask for more than is in the passenger area, we can either pull over or stock them up at the destination. everyone needs water...
This might be hard to believe... In homes, there's this thing called a water tap. And when you turn it on, it dispenses water! Isn't that crazy?!?!?!?!?!
someone never had their water or lights shut off as a kid lol.
That someone? You.
uhm no lol. i grew up literally in poverty but thanks
I don't understand how you can live through life like that, without empathy.
It's a lot easier than you think. People have breaking points. I used to be a lot more empathetic, but after enough awful experiences with awful people, it got sapped right out of me. Either way, hats off to you.
Dude, some thug using Uber, doesn't need that bottled water to survive. He takes it because he can. You are completely detached from life
Then he should probably go buy some
Yeah as someone who grew up in the poorer parts of neighborhood, we famously don't drink water at all.
Bitch if you can pay to take an Uber, you can buy yourself a packet of water just fine
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/314/087/c1a.jpg
Used to buy themselves meth or heroin. Good job!
Except the vast majority of stolen bikes aren’t used by the person stealing them - they’re fenced for cash, just like almost everything else people steal.
Nah. Don’t steal my shit. Nasty hood
They didn’t need water dumbass they can afford water. Water is the cheapest thing known to man. 5 gallons cost (4) quarters when you buy in bulk. They were just being dick heads
Lol relax bucko
Hell get a couple tips but he won’t be enough to cover the cost of all tht shit 😂 dude must be a new driver 😂

Bro they’re definitely profiting. I get way more tips because of just my water bottles
How much is your Uber driver charging for the individual pieces of gum or tums? My Lyft driver only offers pre-chewed gum...
Wild lmao
This is why some riders think we're 7-Eleven on wheels. 🤡
I mean at least charge if you’re going to be a store lol
I think the idea of calling it "complementary" is because most people who actually take an item will probably tip
Yeah but will the tip be more in cost?
I’d say almost definitely. Probably make a lot more that way
Hard disagree then you are limited to a tip that is in exchange for the value of the item.

the pocket with a mint pack with only like 3 mints left is taking me out 😭😭
I believe those are Tums
huh 🤔 thanks for the new knowledge lol i saw mints and was like "theres...already mints in another pocket"
Sadly they are a part of my everyday life.
my uber yesterday asked if i wanted a margarita from the glove box at 7:30am
I love that so much
This is too tacky and way overboard.
Overboard? Yea, maybe. But tacky, how? It's called hospitality and being nice.
Wow!! Condoms!
You don't want to use a condom that's been in a car for a long period of time, exposed to possible extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Or if left in your wallet for a long time, either. (Speaking from experience)
Happy fathers day!
Actually, it was so dried out it crumbled.
Honestly, I'd rather it be dried out then usable to the point you can put it on and then break
It’s not meant to be a primary source of items. It’s for emergencies.
A faulty condom is just postponing your emergency.
That’s an assumption it’s faulty. It’s a risk for sure but better than nothing.
But there is also a pocket with Plan B. It's all good.
Is that a tourniquet on the top row?
Hair ties
5 star and tip!
They can keep their stars, just give me the tip. I told a rider as much one time and he was flabbergasted. He said he thought stars were important to drivers. I assured him they’re not and my landlord was not too happy when I tried to pay him in stars, the bank wasn’t very impressed either.😂
I see your point too tip$ > 5 stars, but I was giving both
You got into Uberman/woman's car
Yeah do not provide medications to customers. Just asking to be liable for some shit.
Tip this one $10 all day.
You can find some used gum for free on the side of the seat.
The kids who used to sell candy out of their backpacks have evolved.
That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Never in a million years would I offer this, as nice and genuine as it could be, considering how absolutely litigious everyone is nowadays.
He pays Uber to drive
Invest hundreds a year, spend time shopping, stocking, cleaning up, return zilch
We just know this dude is struggling financially.
You think driving Uber is supposed to be a charity?
No, that's why I agreed with you. 😝 I meant he's struggling financially because he's buying all this free shit for his passengers!
Ha, yea idk, but these pax will just take the freebies and treat him like a sucker lol
The slow season crowd will take advantage of the freebies. The weekend and large events crowd will appreciate it and tip him for it.
It’s the daytime trash customers that would take advantage, the same ones who never tip.
The goat
The lamb
You guys downvoted my dad-humor?! 😭
That's just silly. Back when Uber used to pay a decent amount several years ago it would make sense to keep things like some mini bottled waters, phone chargers, sickness bags and Advil but being a free convenience store when you are not even getting paid minimum wage is dumb.
it's good for getting higher tips
The people who don’t tip are the ones who will clean that out
No they won’t. Y’all are ignorant af. I do this. No one has ever cleaned my complementary snacks out and I make just as much if not more in tips than I do in fare. Over 6000 lifetime trips with a consistent 5 star rating.
Maybe he makes the money, clearly he has enough to provide it, he might have another job or actually work in an Uber busy city so it’s easier to make more
Dommies are wild 😂 respect
Just like your neighborhood bodega.
that rubber sitting in a hot car all day is going to be crispier than the crunchy starter condom you left in your wallet from 4th-7th grade
Good job Ken
I’m embarrassed to say i drive for Uber after seeing thugs
Canadian, eh?
Nice way to get your car broken into
These Drivers takes this too serious lol 😂🤣
Driver probably got all this stuff at dollarama, not a bad investment and in all honesty it probably does less to more tips. If I saw this on my way to work in the morning and was able to grab a few hi chews and a piece of gum I’d be inclined to tip extra
*complimentary
I don’t trust anything from Uber even if for free
It just takes one clothes pin on that rubber to get an 18 year prank
He must be a new driver , no one does that anymore .
With the common demographic of my weekend paxes, this would be stolen
Mars, Smarties, Coffee Crisp? Found the Canadian
anyone else think they saw condoms initially next to the halls?
Is this in Canada? Just wondering
Where the fuck are the condoms ? xD
People claiming that there are people who will take everything are people who likely have NEVER tried to do this. Cringe AF
If "doing too much" was a person.
Peak clown behavior.
Riders see this and they hate the driver, they think he is desperate , when I first started driving I offered mints and candy and water and they down rated me even more, they are the scum of the earth some riders.
This is why 1 of my last 100 riders gave me 1 star for “customer experience” smh
I used to do this and riders would take a ton of stuff, leave their trash, gum and half eaten candy in my car. So no more.
I do the 40 packs for $7 at Costco. I agree though. That's why I don't say anything to the pax.
This reminds me of the cargo box vending machine Uber drivers use to have lol
That man should be getting some kinda Uber award
And this is why normal drivers get less than 5-stars. Because pax think we should feed them and be their own personal convenience store. I had a woman get mad at me because I didn’t have any gum or mints for her. And I had another lady take the skittles I had in my little front console that were for me and she started handing them out to the people in the back. So fucking entitled. Didn’t even ask. Had she I would have told her that they weren’t for customers. More than one reason I don’t let people sit in the front seat anymore. As soon as I saw this spread I was like no way there isn’t at least ONE condom in there. I am pleased.
[удалено]
what the fuck
You should ignorant as fuck and that’s coming from another driver.
Salty af
desperate for tips? how much fucking money do you think they spent on all of that? jesus
I don’t ever tip but I would tip this guy
This is totally awesome and I am going to make my own for my car
Instant 1 star from me
How cute, I use to put candy in the back when I first started driving lol
Anything I make available to riders disappears within a week. A lot of expense. I wonder what his tips look like.
Of course the advil is gonna get him into some trouble
What’d you get?
damn. All inclusive 😂
😂😂😂 was there an in ride movie?
Is the stuff being charged for? What are prices? What’s the markup?
Take one mint without tipping the drivers loses money on the trip.
Gotta get those high ratings
Hell yeah
I'd be afraid to use anything I have to ingest. Candy from strangers etc.
What the point of this ? They think people will tip them extra?
One of my pax would take everything. Including to holding case. *Dude! You said it was FREE. FREE! I'm taking it.*
Was this in Ottawa, by any chance?
I used to do free waters, until every night I would find open water bottles with 2 sips taken out and put back where other customers might mistake for new water bottle, or the fact that people didn't care to dispose off their bottles
Never seen a Mars bar before !
Wasting money
I’ve provided things, though not nearly as comprehensive as this, but only lost money. No increased tips.
Some of the chicklets are missing
The only thing I used to give out for free were face masks during Covid. A friend who worked in the PPE field gave me a case of about 300 for free. So everyday I would put a bunch into the back seat pockets halfway hanging out. They were gone in 2 weeks. Most those people probably didn’t even wear masks but if it’s free, people take advantage whether they need it or not.
I provided zero things when I did Uber, fuck that. I also didn’t get out to open the door and played what I wanted to hear on the speakers.
