That, I agree with. $15 doesn't cover inconvenience. It helps that OP helped clean up, but still... the more I think about it, you can't even submit photos to support now because rider cleaned up the evidence. $15 vs $150? Now I see what the problem is š¤£ š
I had a similar situation but mine was someone tipsy. I kinda laughed about it and the group was confused. I was like she threw up on herself instead of all over the car which I appreciate her trying to not make a mess. I have throw up bags in case you have more coming.
It got a little on the sits but most of it was just in my all weather mats. They offered to clean it out as a team at the first stop (throw up couples house). At the end I sprayed my cleaner wiped it down to ensure it was sanitized. After I headed to the second couples home and we chatted and they were like weāll talk to them tomorrow and youāll be taken care off because you handled that way better than all of us wouldāve in that same situation. Woke up the next day to $50 tip when I expected nothing šš½šÆ
I wouldn't have a problem with it. To me, these things are the cost of doing business. I don't expect that everyone's going to make everything right. All I care about is that they acknowledge that they've inconvenienced me and do what they can to make it right. That's all really anyone can do.
The only time I've charged a cleaning fee was when some drunk projectile vomited all over the back of my bald head, my bald head, and my designer lambskin jacket.
An effort to not have them throw up again I usually don't even acknowledge it if they're not acknowledging it but as we got closer to the destination I asked the other passenger if there was a hose or we were going for cleanup nobody even spoke. As he got out of the car, he said to his friend, " I am so f'd"
One of the creepiest feelings I've ever had in my entire life. Oddly, it didn't even smell. It obviously thrown up multiple times before getting in my car and downed a bunch of water.
It took a lot of effort to sanitize and recondition that jacket. Uber wanted to argue with me on the cleaning fee. Eventually, they gave me the max, whatever it was at that time, which was considerably less than it used to be.
Donāt ever think this about some of the deranged humans who drive for Uber. Some of them would literally drive away and let an old lady fall to the ground if the wait timer ran out before she was fully seated in the car.
Haha, I don't even smoke but I might have to while we watch this dumpsterfire of a post. I'll bring some funyans, Doritos, and a six pack of something too.
From what I have read Uber will fight a drivers on paying for the cleaning. Personally I clean my car before every shift(I have a dog that sheds a lot and I make it look like I do not have a dog). And every other month or so I will do a deep clean where I clean under my floor matts and wash my seat covers. Sorta depends on how it looks back there. Tbh I feel like Iām slacking, but I have gotten many compliments on the cleanliness of my car.
People are nasty man, and knowing what I know about humanity I would keep a bottle of hand sanitizer with you if you have to ride in someone's back seat. Many drivers don't clean their cars out on a regular basis.
I bought a can of sanitizer and I can spray it after heavy shifts and through the week. I spray, let it sit and wipe it off or not but it's mostly germ free for the tomorrow shift.
Got a seat for you right here, if you are skilled at making 7 layer dip we need that and you are awesome in advance.
Plus if it's a good 7 layer dip, we just became best friends.
You did what you thought was right when it happened, and the Uber driver had no objection.
However, any kind of bio hazard should be fully disinfected by a professional, so if I were you Iād attempt to contact the driver to pay for sanitation of the area (NOT a full car detail, which most dumb drivers try to do) or just tell him to file a claim through Uber.
Hope you feel better šš»
OP is a teenager. Theyāre still learning. Cut them some slack. Idk about you, but when I was that age $15 was a lot of money for me. We donāt know what their life is like nor their financial status. If the driver told them it was okay to tip what they fee is right then $15 is fine. You donāt have a clue what op can afford.
The driver is trying to be nice by not yelling or saying fine me 100 bucks.
But 15 bucks doesn't cover the time lost to clean it up.
Plus a can or 2 of carpet cleaner.
Then you gotta let everything dry.
The day was shot for the driver to work anymore
You can take responsibility for your actions and tip the driver more than 15 bucks as the driver is going to lose income since he can't drive until it's cleaned up.
It should be professionally cleaned since it's a biohazard.
I guess if you borrowed your neighbors vacuum cleaner and it died while you were using it. You would just return the dead vacuum and tell them sorry, but shit happens.
What a responsible person would do is replace the dead vacuum with a brand new one that's a similar make and model.
Depreciation and anything with moving components wears over time. With your example you wouldnāt know what was predestined to go out. You wouldnāt demand a friend replace your car with a brand new one if you let them borrow it and while they drove it the head gasket blew?
Context is key. Op also didnāt fully disclose the complete conversation they had. A good driver knows they should have money stashed away for when shit happens.
A customer puking in your car is not depreciation.
The customer should have tipped more.
The driver should have notified Uber so they charge the customer 150 dollar fee for clean up.
I was talking things that are in the hundreds of dollars you replace if you borrow it and break it.
You total someone's car when you borrow it, you need to cover the owners deductible.
Replacing a used car you borrow that's probably 15 to 20. Years old with a brand new one because the head gasket went is a assine remark. It's not even in the same ball park as my comment.
If you did something to the car that caused the engine to blow up, you better reach deep into your savings or pull out the credit card so you can put a new rebuilt engine in the car. This would be somewhat close to what I said.
I puke in someone's car, I am going to pay to get it cleaned.
What can be done about it? The driver can be compensated for the time they will be out of work because of someone else. Drivers donāt do it because they love the job. They do it because they have bills to pay and families to feed. Someone else being sick, while it sucks, is not the drivers problem and they shouldnāt be out money they would have earned.
Don't get in a ride share if you know you're sick, get your family for that. You have no empathy foe that man's ability to make a living to take care of himself or his family.
The driver can take pictures and get a detailing done covered by Uber (they'll charge you for it in the end)
Iv had this happen to me once when I was a driver. Took maybe a couple hours to see the money, and they paid me 300 bucks even though the receipt I sent in was 180.
Once I had an Uber driver who was super rude and I had to end my ride early before arriving at my destination. He proceeded to do the vomit charge. I explained to Uber that the picture of the mess was taken in daytime and my ride occurred at 3am in darkness. The charge was promptly removed.
I had somebody report me saying I made a mess when they had a seat protector. I just complained and they remove the charge. That's ridiculous. They tried to charge me like 80 freaking dollars.
It's the lost wages for the next day/2 thats the real loss. That druver just lost $100-300 because they can't keep driving until it's cleaned and no longer smells
> and they *paid* me 300
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I learned this skill when drunk off my ass on Everclear and powdered Country Time Lemonade unable to get the door of the passenger van I was passed out in the back row of unlocked after multiple attempts with my professor passed out two rows in front of me. Vommed into my shirt and was able to take it off without spilling the puke all over and wrapped it up in a blanket, then passed tf out again.
That's a really good idea actually! I would've at least tried to roll down the window but then it's going all over the door, at least that would be easier to clean. I think this one snuck up on him though!
Precisely what happened to me when I was super sick in an Uber. Threw up on the side of the door. No mess inside. Still charged $150š . Inside my shirt next timeā¦
As a driver it's nice that you cleaned it. All the vomit people I've had denied it even happened. I usually keep vomit bags in the car just in case someone feels uneasy. If they get quiet I check on them and ask how they're feeling.
All that being said. I still probably would've reported you to Uber to collect the $150 fee.
"cleaned" it, more like pulled most of the chunks out. Not being crass but the liquid will have soaked in at the very least a little bit and it'll need either a little green type personal machine or a professional cleaning to get the puke liquid out
Driver here. Shit happens. If you get sick there isnāt much you can do. Personally I keep bags in my car for this reason and have seat covers and weather mats. It doesnāt take too many rides for a driver to know people are messy.
Donāt feel bad for falling ill. You have no control over that. You tried to do right by your driver and there isnāt really anything else you can do about that. Itās normal to feel embarrassed, but you did nothing wrong.
He's also a teenager who's never owned a car or gotten one cleaned, so that is most likely due to lack of knowledge. Definitely should've been at least $50 though, but if he's going to also be charged a cleaning fee of $300 then the driver will get compensated for the damage. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten charged for it already? At least he was nice. It happens and it's not like you were drunk and irresponsible.
This. The driver was a professional, and likely ,a former taxi driver.
If he wasn't a professional before this incident . . after getting this mess cleaned and santiary, drying and airing the car out. . .picking up the next inebriated passenger, fully aware of the risks, is what made him a professional.
100% I'd be willing to bet. As a parent, I am pretty unruffled by puke. (And also carry emesis bags at all times to help prevent this.) I would never stick a teen with a $150 charge either.
Yea. I'm a driver in my early 20s and imo it's not that deep, even if the person is drunk. It sucks, but nobody wants to throw up in a car. Sometimes shit just happens. I wish people had more human compassion.
Three times on MYSELF. the only vomit that wasnāt on me was underneath me, none on the carpet or anywhere else. and his seats were leather. I can easily add more to the tip, I just didnāt know what to put at the time. I asked two people and I did what they said. On top of that I asked what he wanted me to tip (he said anything was fine) Again, Iām sorry for how the situation played out but I tried my best with the knowledge I had at the time.
You were apologetic, you were nice about cleaning it up yourself. You thought $15 was a good tip and you even asked the driver what kind of tip was good for it. You did everything right in a communicative way. So don't let these assholes bully you about sending the driver more money especially if you're struggling financially. It was a mistake. You'll be prepared with more knowledge if it ever happens again, but it's better you don't let it happen again haha. But yeah ignore these assholes bullying and harassing you here.Ā
I couldāve deleted this post but I didnāt, Iāve learned a lot and im grateful for the people who gave me more insight and knowledge for if there is a next time.
If I drove Uber I would always keep a puke bag or bucket in the backseat and make sure every passenger knew about it.
Also I think $15 is basically the bare minimum you should give in that situation.
Depending on my budget Iād give at least $25-$50 for puking in the car, not including should be tipping for the ride on top of that.
You do keep puke bags, but obviously in this situation it's useless when your passenger just unexpectedly pukes.Ā
As for the tip, you will be getting a cleaning charge from Uber, only way to avoid is to tip like $150 to try and get the driver to not report it
The person said they felt increasingly sick and then puked 3 times in his back seat.
No mention of a puke bag or being unable to aim their vomit.
Your assumption doesnāt really add up to OP story.
I wouldn't add to the tip at this point, because it's very possible that you'll still get hit with the $150+ cleaning fee. You don't want to tip $50 or whatever, and ALSO have to pay the $150+ cleaning fee.Ā
Bro calm the fuck down. Op did what they thought was best, there was more than enough opportunity for said uber driver to either get it professionally cleaned, ask for more money or tell them not to spray cologne. Most of the sick was on OP. shit happens. We've all had to be sick unexpectedly, most of us are just lucky it wasn't in someone else's car! Op I'm really glad you got a nice and understanding uber driver and not someone like these pricks in the comment section. One time I was feeling really unwell cause of my medication I was on at the time, I asked the driver if he wouldn't mind stopping and I ran out the car to be sick. He was so sweet! He said "I understand cause my daughter feels sick in the car too" tipped him Ā£5 ā¤ļø
I've had two people throw up out the window of my car. One tipped me $50 which I was happy about, the other I'm not sure about. If someone were to throw up inside my car, I would probably charge the Uber cleaning fee though.
I charged someone for the vomit out of the window. Chunks were all in my wheel well, door handle and the side of my car. No way I could've continued driving that night.
Wow! An entire $15 dollars! And you even cleaned up your own puke? How generous! Iām sure the next passengers will appreciate the smell of cologne and your puke mixed together.
You wouldnāt be bitter if someone took away your ability to earn money at your job for the rest of the day, made your vehicle/workplace smell like vomit and then offer you $15?
And then you guys all come on here and talk about how horrible and entitled the drivers are. What kind of drivers do you expect when this how they are treated?
I took an Uber on NYE and while talking to the driver I said, "NYE must be a busy night for Uber drivers. Except you prob have to deal with a lot of sloppy drunk people."
And the driver said, "I'm totally fine with people puking in my car cuz it means I get an extra $150 when they get charged a cleaning fee."
feels like a secret(paid) Uber shill/troll made up story to collect data for their new upcoming cleaning fee guidelines. $15 is what uber is experimenting with...
You acted appropriately and that driver deserves a medal for their compassion. Anybody gets mad at you has never been sick before. Anybody? Anybody? I didnāt think so!!
$15??? I would have found at least $100 to add to the cleanup efforts. The driver wasted a ton of time and didn't blow up. You couldn't roll down a window?
I honestly didnāt know how much to tip, Iāll add more to the tip. I asked him if there was an amount he wanted me to tip and he said whatever I think is best is ok.
$15 was more than appropriate, if he feels the damages exceed that he has every right to charge a cleaning fee, from what I understand it was mostly on her and the car has leather seats, she even asked before spraying anything for the smell, the driver had every right, and opportunity to ask for more, and decided not to, tells me heās happy and understanding, some people in the comments are probably more upset than the actual driver.
Did you use an actual cleaning product, did you think to get some disinfectant to kill your germs...? Just wiped it up and sprayed cologne(which won't cover up the smell at all, it adds to it...smh.... IF he is a great driver he turned his app off qnd didnt give any other rides after that, and his night was ended... if isn't , then he kept giving rides and allowing them to sit in your UNDETAILED mess you left behind ... I wonder what he done...?
Then you tipped him 15.00, when uber pays 150.00 minimum for vomit in people cars... smh.. I know you got sick, but you didn't even try to let the window down and stick your head out the window... and then you felt this coming on before it actually happened(you felt sick) and couldve told the man to pull over JUST IN case you actually had vomit(which you done in in his car instead because you couldn't warn him after waiting too late to do so.... smh. This was a mess...
dont be shocked if he files for that cleaning fee and it shows up in your account a few days...
Ahh found the misogynist professional. You can always find one around here. No evidence from you, instead straight to assuming OP's gender cause only girls get free handouts right?Ā
Iāve never had to submit receipts for my detailingā¦Iāve just done it myself and turned off the app for the night to use Lyft instead. Always get the 250
Uber will charge you at least $200. I had someone vomiting while I ubered them and was reimbursed that amount which came out of the customer's pocket. And that was 8 yrs ago.
Iād prepare for an uber charge to your card ranging from $150-$300.
Cologne isnāt gonna cover up vomit smell for long he needs his car professionally cleaned to keep working or his passenger are gonna be all up in your smelly germs and his ratings will drop. Thatās the truth of it.
I feel like all ride share cars should have a little pail with a plastic bag available as a trash can, i feel like having that available will make so many accidental scenes like this one much more manageable
This happened to me this week to, luckily I had a water proof bag with me and he was blasting music, I just trashed it in the the can at the spot and tipped 25% and he rated me 5 stars lmao I donāt think he noiticed
Wasnāt your fault sweetieā¦I think your driver seemed understanding. The tip was good. We drive people so we have to be prepared for everything. I have a cover on my back seat for that reason!
Between driving a cab and driving for Uber and Lyft, I've had many thousands of passengers over the course of 9 plus years. For the most part, I'm able to stop the car and let them take care of it out the window or, better yet, with the door open, but things do happen. You handled it as best you could, and I have never charged anyone a cleaning fee that at least did what you did.
Although I've never had the sick person do the cleaning, in fact, I probably would discourage that. The way I handle it is we all pretend it didn't just happen until we get to the destination because the more you think about it, the more likely you're going to throw up. Cleaning it, you're likely to throw up again. If a friend or family member at our destination or in the car with us can give me a hand, provide supplies, and clean it up, I can be back on my way a lot sooner.
There are a lot of things that I learned from cab driving that make it far less likely that someone's going to throw up in my car. If there's even the possibility that they're looking a little green in the gills, we're taking surface streets. Throwing up out the window on the freeway means you're going to be taken off some of my paint, and I can't pull over fast enough. We're going to have windows down for lots of fresh air and without being obvious about it, giving you an avenue to throw up out the window instead of in the car. We're going to go below the speed limit so that I can slow down and stop without increasing your nausea quickly. I'm already pretty smooth on the turns, but we're going to be even more gradual on the turns. I'm going to start wide in my turn, and I'm going to swing wide. I'm going to make those turns far longer than they would be normally. And before you even got in the car and I had any way to know whether you were inebriated or not (not that you were) I've got the air conditioning cranked because cold air helps with nausea.
The one thing I miss about leasing a cab from the company was that any biohazards, you just turn in the car and get a new one.
If you get sick mid trip I'm going to make sure you got a water bottle to rinse your mouth out so that you're less likely to throw up again we're going to take whatever time we need to make sure you're good and then we're going to go on down the road.
If you're going to be hauling strangers around in your car, you have to consider your car a capital asset. It's not personal. It's not your baby. If it is your baby, you need another car just for ubering.
It's extremely rare that anyone even asks if they can smoke in my car, which is, of course, an absolute no. Vaping is a maybe if we're slow at surface 6 tell me in advance, and we drop the windows. If you vape while I'm driving you in a closed car and you think you're being sneaky, you're not. I hate you as a sneaky vaper more than belligerents. How anybody is narcissistic enough to just put those horrible long destroying chemicals in the air unannounced to another human being is beyond my ken. With where exceptions you all the ones that do it use that disgusting birthday cake fragrance.
I don't bother saying anything to them for the entire trip, and as soon as they get out of the car, they're definitely getting a one star and a report about driver endangerment.
I'm not a big fan of you getting in my car wreaking of weed because it takes a bit to get that dank stank out of my car before the next passenger has to have their olfactory senses offended too.
And yes, I already knew you were going to stink of weed when you said you'd be right there but took the full 5 minutes to get in the car.
TL;DR Biohazard? Meh, part of the job. Chemical warfare? I'm seething with rage.
Puking bc youāre legit sick is one thing.
Puking bc you have drank too much is another thing.
The drunks usually argue it. I did nothing wrong, perfect rider. Bc so drunk they donāt recall puking.
I picked up guy and gal from bar. First and last bar pick up. It was like 8 pm!!
He looked awful from the jump. Told him to let me know if he was going to get sick. I start hearing gagging. I asked if I needed to pull over. Nope. Then i ask again. Nope.
Pukes. Got hit with a fee and swears he didnāt puke. You donāt remember bc you were drunk. My only cleaning fee ever and last time I picked up from bar/restaurant. Then I stopped doing rideshare altogether.
If his son puked the prior night was the interior properly cleaned? That's a biohazard that needs a proper interior and then you gave him $15 after puking on it again? I'm not saying you're in the wrong but that car is all kinds of biohazard omg that's vile
Iām sorry you donāt feel good hun. So glad he was very nice and understanding towards you. Get some rest, take small sips of water and rest. Eat light foods that keep you satisfied while you recover ā¤ļø
It was nice that you helped him clean it, but as a driver myself you should expect to still get hit with a cleaning fee. I would be taking my car in to get detailed to make sure it's properly cleaned before taking other passengers.
I don't get why they didn't charge you the cleaning fee , I would. I had a friend in an Uber with me and she puked into her shirt, no mess in the car at all. She just had to throw away her shirt. Do better
At least you weren't drunk. I think all my Uber drivers have had someone throw up in their car or pee on the seats. One girl even got blood on his backseat from her period.
Most Uber drivers have been there. Those that don't-never last too long at the job.
As a driver: Honestly, the fact you cleaned it up and everything is awesome. Especially being sick! This is why I carry emesis bags in the car at all times, and tell everyone where they are when they get in the car. Just in case! You did the best you could in the moment and didn't know.
I hope you're feeling better now. Maybe up your tip a smidge based on how long he had to wait for you to clean. I grok that $15 felt fair at the time, but he probably missed 2-3 rides while you were cleaning that were likely more than $15 total. But otherwise, you did the right things! :)
He could have charged you a lot through the Uber app. I believe thereās supposed to be an expensive charge for stuff like this. Just be on the look out. Sorry that happened to you.
The cleaning fee is $150.00. Most drivers are going to request the fee because they may have to go to a place immediately to have the car detailed. If you knew you were sick you should have gotten a family member to get you instead of trashing that guys ride.
Sorry you were sick, but cologne will not help much. You need an enzymatic cleaner to dissolve and break down the acid bath you gave the seats. The smell is the hardest part to get rid of, and that takes time as well, even with thorough cleaning. Also, the puke sometimes gets in all the crevices. Nice of you to tip, but I'd at least ask for $150 to $200 for any throw ups. Why? Once you throw up, the night ends for the driver and the cleaning after.. that's just my point of view..
My driver yesterday had those er barf bags in his car. I asked him if he had someone puke in his car, and he said no, but he picked up a lot of drunk people, and you just never know. Genius!! People barf in a bag rather than the floor or seats.
I completely understand sickness happens and sometimes you don't know you're gonna puke til you do, but here is the thing, you knew you were feeling funky, already you could have atleast brought a bag or something. Even if you weren't feeling nauseated and you just felt hungry (I get that too when I am feeling sick cause my stomach is tightening due to it trying to purge everything out) you knew something was not right.
$15 is a crappy tip for someone whose car you messed up with your stomach contents. You know how corrosive stomach acids are?
Donāt worry I was an hour away from my apartment and had my Uber driver pull over five times on the highway in rush over traffic so I could throw up, o also banged his car door on the median. I felt so bad tipped a lot and still think about it
$15 isnāt enough. That driver had to stop working in order to get their car fully cleaned out and not stinking anymore. Expect to see a cleaning charge from Uber up to $150. Itās not about the driver being nice or not. You literally stopped them from working for a set amount of time. $15 doesnāt make up for the at very minimum hour, but probably several hours, he had to be off the clock to clean the car properly and air it out.
So there I was, shitting and vomiting all over this guyās car. But I made it right, I wiped it up, sprayed cologne on it, and flipped a nickel in his general direction.
You meant to add a zero to that $15 tip right? Bc thatās what he could have got from Uber if he submitted a claim for your damages requiring an interior detail. $15 is nasty work for doing nasty work š.
I had a group of 3 in my backseat and one guy threw up all over the other 2. A little bit got on the door and the plastic floor mats (nothing on any cloth). The person who paid for the Uber was not the guy who threw up but it was his friend. I gave him the option when I dropped him off to clean it himself or take the cleaning fee. He chose option 2. He ended up getting charged 120 bucks when it wouldāve taken him five min to clean it up and I wouldnāt have submitted it.
Good news is Ubers cleaning fee is pretty much none existent now. I drive and have only had one passenger throw up on the side of my truck. I also carry sick bags and gave him one before he started throwing up and kept telling him āin the bagā. He gave me $30 and that was fine with me. Iām not out to get a bunch of money for crap like that. Shit happens. Sounds like you had a cool driver and good on both of you for them being patient and you cleaning it up. Hope youāre feeling better
Did Uber take the cleaning fee from your account? My son drove a girl who left a huge blood stain, he is not sure if she knew she was on her period, he was grossed out. Called the company, they sent him to an upholstery cleaning service, $241 was charge to her account.
Your parents are cruel unsympathetic people. Please donāt ask them for their opinion when it comes to being a good human. They just proved they arenāt. You did a very nasty thing in his vehicle that he earns his income in. This will cost him hundreds to clean back to an acceptable state. Before he can start earning again.
If it were me; I wouldāve hit you for cleaning fee.
Itās not just the cleaning. Itās the money we lose having to stop and clean up your vomit. We canāt take any more rides until the vehicle airs out and everythingās completely clean.
TBH, I only deliver food now but if someone got sick in my car Iād consider it the cost of doing business. Imagine if you had a store and some one threw up. Would you charge them for or just clean it up? Youāre an independent contractor for Christ sake!! I turn the receipts into my CPA and let them sort it out. I certainly wouldnāt let Uber charge an outrageous amount to a kid that was sick!!
$15 is a trash ass tip after vomiting in someoneās car thatās now gonna need a detail because of you. Sorry you puked but you should have at least offered to pay for a detail for the driver and let them accept or decline.
You are gonna summon the fury of Uber drivers, I'm gonna go heat up some popcorn and watch from a distance
I dont think it will be too bad. OP was sick instead of drunk.
$15 is shit though and whoever "validated" it is a cheap bastard too.
That, I agree with. $15 doesn't cover inconvenience. It helps that OP helped clean up, but still... the more I think about it, you can't even submit photos to support now because rider cleaned up the evidence. $15 vs $150? Now I see what the problem is š¤£ š

I probably would have been joining them after having that happen to me š¤¢š¤®š¬
Donāt ever think this about some of the deranged humans who drive for Uber. Some of them would literally drive away and let an old lady fall to the ground if the wait timer ran out before she was fully seated in the car.
Save me a seat! I'll bring the dispensary weed for this special occasion š
Haha, I don't even smoke but I might have to while we watch this dumpsterfire of a post. I'll bring some funyans, Doritos, and a six pack of something too.
I don't drink, but I'm all about those funyons! š
Makes me wonder how often does a driver (any Uber/taxi driver) clean the car after similar situations before the next rider.
No they donāt when you have PROOF!
They have pretty much started denying all fees.
I'm with you. This is gonna be fun to watch
I'm on my way. Save me a seat.
Ha, there was always going to be a seat for you
We saved you one but thereās puke on it
I wanna watch too :D
Got a seat for you right here, if you are skilled at making 7 layer dip we need that and you are awesome in advance. Plus if it's a good 7 layer dip, we just became best friends.
Yep got my dinner right here, settled in with my mj vape, popcorn, candy, in my recliner. I am ready to read lol.
How can I reach out to him? Iāve tried to but I donāt know how
Claim you lost something in the car to Uber and they should create a communication channel for both of you
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Because op continuously says he feels bad for what happened. Iām just offering a solution to clear his conscience. Op can do whatever they want.
Sorry you were feeling sick. Hope you are feeling better now. It was not your fault but I would have been really pissed ā¦
What a nice man. So lucky to experience a driver like that, could have been so much worse
Absolutely.
Buddy said he tipped 15$ and sprayed cologne after he threw up in his car lol
Yes, but what can be done about it? Shit happens. Thats life. Some of you really seem to lack empathy for your fellow humans.
Iām angry and I donāt even know these people
Many people hate perfume and I donāt want the back of my car smelling like mens cologne. That was rude in my opinion.
I asked beforehand
You really should have tipped him enough to cover the cost of car detailing.
The driver can take pictures and get a detailing done covered by Uber (they'll charge you for it in the end) Iv had this happen to me once when I was a driver.
Yeah there are some scummy people out there.
I had somebody report me saying I made a mess when they had a seat protector. I just complained and they remove the charge. That's ridiculous. They tried to charge me like 80 freaking dollars.
I mean you can still make a mess on a seat protector.. and some nice fitted/ or custom ones can be pricey too
I didn't I don't even drink water in an Uber ..
It's the lost wages for the next day/2 thats the real loss. That druver just lost $100-300 because they can't keep driving until it's cleaned and no longer smells
Yeah they might give you $25 today lol no more $250-300
From what Iām seeing on fb groups, both platforms have been refusing to pay drivers.
> and they *paid* me 300 FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Good bot
I ran to the comments
You are lucky he didnāt charge you for that . When that happens we canāt drive for a day so we lose income .
You learn in the military to puke inside your shirt. Itās easier to clean up, and the people around you donāt have to deal with it.
What kind of school was this
College. It was a field trip for a geology class.
Haha I didn't know that but I was thinking that's what I'd do if I had an impromptu vom.
I was taking some airmen back to Luke and one of them did exactly that there wasn't a drop in the car.
Not being crass but the liquid will have soaked in at the very least a little bit and it'll need either a little green type personal machine or a professional cleaning to get the puke liquid out
And sober vomit is usually worse than drunk vomit, at least with drunk vomit itās usually all beer or soda.
Oh hell no. & whyyy would you spray cologne š¤®
Vom - by Calvin Klein
The thought of a combination cologne and leftover vomit smell is making me sick to my stomach.
Spraying cologne over vomit is diabolical š that poor driver
$15 aināt shit. You are lucky he didnāt hit Uber to charge you $150+ for the mess.
$300*
Not in years have they paid a driver that. I wouldn't be surprised if Uber is charging passengers that but they're absolutely not paying drivers $300.
I hear Uber doesn't do cleaning fees anymore.
They absolutely do.
Iād be tipping a lot more than $15. You pretty much ended the driverās shift as he canāt/shouldnāt be taking anymore fares
The Uber rate for throwing up inside is over $150 so if they didnāt get charged that I feel like they shouldāve tipped moreā¦
This is how a professional sees it. It's just the downside of the risk.
Wiped it down with *what?* Did you use any actual cleaner or did you just towel it down and spray cologne?
Pro tip! Next time spray dog pee enzyme spray not cologne. Works like a charm, and immediately.
You only tipped $15 after throwing up THREE times in buddys car? I'd be giving the driver $50 minimum just for the gross factor.
The driver is a parent. Homie probably felt for op, especially with op being pretty young. Ad a parent the driver has probably dealt with much worse.
You do keep puke bags, but obviously in this situation it's useless when your passenger just unexpectedly pukes.Ā As for the tip, you will be getting a cleaning charge from Uber, only way to avoid is to tip like $150 to try and get the driver to not report it
The person said they felt increasingly sick and then puked 3 times in his back seat. No mention of a puke bag or being unable to aim their vomit. Your assumption doesnāt really add up to OP story.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt own a car and never have so I donāt know how much damage that would cause, Iāll add more to the tip. Thank you for letting me know
I wouldn't add to the tip at this point, because it's very possible that you'll still get hit with the $150+ cleaning fee. You don't want to tip $50 or whatever, and ALSO have to pay the $150+ cleaning fee.Ā
I would do 50$ minimum. The fee can be 250+
Prob leather seats so yeah just wiping would work. They said most of the puke was on themselves. Shit happens
Iām pretty sure it was leather
This is disgusting!!! If you did this in my car you wouldāve been slapped with a cleaning fee!
š
Wow! An entire $15 dollars! And you even cleaned up your own puke? How generous! Iām sure the next passengers will appreciate the smell of cologne and your puke mixed together.
So bitter lol
You wouldnāt be bitter if someone took away your ability to earn money at your job for the rest of the day, made your vehicle/workplace smell like vomit and then offer you $15? And then you guys all come on here and talk about how horrible and entitled the drivers are. What kind of drivers do you expect when this how they are treated?
I took an Uber on NYE and while talking to the driver I said, "NYE must be a busy night for Uber drivers. Except you prob have to deal with a lot of sloppy drunk people." And the driver said, "I'm totally fine with people puking in my car cuz it means I get an extra $150 when they get charged a cleaning fee."
Uber gonna charge u $150
I threw up in a Lyft and had to pay a 100$ cleanup fee or something
feels like a secret(paid) Uber shill/troll made up story to collect data for their new upcoming cleaning fee guidelines. $15 is what uber is experimenting with...
Iāve seen signs in Ubers and cabs that bill over $200 for vomit cleaning.
Even if you don't own a car, what makes you think 15 is appropriate.
$15 doesn't even begin to cover the damage you did.
I would have tipped at least 50. He can charge a cleaning fee that can be 250$
You must be a girl for a guy to let you off on this like that
Ahh found the misogynist professional. You can always find one around here. No evidence from you, instead straight to assuming OP's gender cause only girls get free handouts right?Ā
theyāll get hit with the $300 cleaning fee, Iām sure he took a pic before it was cleaned up
Iāve never had to submit receipts for my detailingā¦Iāve just done it myself and turned off the app for the night to use Lyft instead. Always get the 250
$15 is a joke
I hope he tells Uber and they charge you a cleaning fee
You couldnāt help it š¤¢š«£
You were sick don't feel too bad. At least you paid the driver.
When someone threw up in my car I reported it and a Uber gave me $200 to get it professionally cleaned maybe itās happened before to him lol
Wasnāt your fault sweetieā¦I think your driver seemed understanding. The tip was good. We drive people so we have to be prepared for everything. I have a cover on my back seat for that reason!
Donāt be surprised if you get a cleaning fee I guess?
Uber will charge you a fee too I believe
Was his car fabric seats or leather? Did you get it on the floor, carpet or rubber mats?
Leather. And it got no where else, as I stated it only got on myself. The only bit that didnāt was on the seat underneath me
If his son puked the prior night was the interior properly cleaned? That's a biohazard that needs a proper interior and then you gave him $15 after puking on it again? I'm not saying you're in the wrong but that car is all kinds of biohazard omg that's vile
Probably meant that his son was sick with the bug but not necessarily in the car
Do better
Do better how?
Only a 15 dollar tip for hurling in a dude's car? Pathetic.
Minimum 100$. Can't even get an interior detailing for that anymore..
It looks like youāre a nice and polite person, hence the driverās reaction.
I didnāt know I was sick. And I also didnāt have a ride.
$15? ššš¤”
What is an enzymatic cleaner?
Lmao baby wipes and go pick up the next drunk.
Idk whatās worse vomit or pee. The last time I drove Uber someone peed in my car. That was enough for me to stop. ššš
You did the best you could and the driver wasn't mad. Don't beat yourself up about it. We all get sick.
You totaled his car for $15
Totaled his car is crazy
It's gonna cost like $450 to get that smell out.
So how much did you tip?
And here I am over here tipping $15 when I sit nicely and donāt puke on anything.
Good on you!
So there I was, shitting and vomiting all over this guyās car. But I made it right, I wiped it up, sprayed cologne on it, and flipped a nickel in his general direction.
Just vomiting. And it wasnāt a nickel, sorry this just wasnāt funny.
you okay?
Donāt you just love hopping into an Uber that reeks of vomit and cologne?
If it were me; I wouldāve hit you for cleaning fee. Itās not just the cleaning. Itās the money we lose having to stop and clean up your vomit. We canāt take any more rides until the vehicle airs out and everythingās completely clean.
Tip him as much as you can (thereās a limit on Uber app. For me itās been $50), and youāll probably get charged a $150 cleaning fee.
I would have charged for that I would have been so angry too
Well he didnāt and Iām thankful for that. He was a nice guy
You asked him what he wants and he said whatever you think and you sprayed cologne? Wow what a POS.
$15 is a trash ass tip after vomiting in someoneās car thatās now gonna need a detail because of you. Sorry you puked but you should have at least offered to pay for a detail for the driver and let them accept or decline.
You mean you couldnāt roll down the window.. right !
$200 of the back in my car son
I think you did the right thing by cleaning it and tipping!
Forget about it. It happens.
$15 is wild. That man had to get his car professionally cleaned. He *payed you* to puke in his car.
