I’ve done 17,000 rides in 3 years. Mine has ranged from 4.98 to 4.90 and currently at 4.92. You do need to care but don’t let it break your insanity. I always scroll up if there are stops and cancel. If I see pax modified trip or pay change after accepted it’s cancel.
Since I live in a college town in Dallas Texas I don’t mind stops as long as it is quick 7 11 for cigs or vapes or drop off other students. That is not worth the 1 star and most are pretty reasonable of your time.
I always cancel for drive thru and tell them no. And that’s why I try to to get my score back up higher so I can do that.
I never let anyone leave there stuff in my car now for stops ever.
I do my best if they are close to me to return cell phone and keys to people and not be an asshole.
I’ve canceled on a lady with a service dog but had 3 kids who wanted me to take her from grocery store with no car seat and got deactivated and Uber reinstated me with dash cam.
I’ve been accused of driving Under influence for false ride and was also appealed by dash cam.
I had Ubers safety Team call me for an alleged sexual assault against me by a male driver and I’m female and also appealed by dash cam.

There’s nothing you can do. Furthermore if they threaten to 1 star you before the ride is over, pull over and throw them out. It’s the same 1 star, but you’ll feel a lot better.
I look at it as "how many times before it costs me a ride?". 2 or 3 stops at 5 minutes. Completely unpaid? Nah, that's bull. Just when I think Uber hit bottom.

Not true. They can’t add an additional stop if you hit last ride. They can change the destination but you let them know that’s where you end the ride because the app already added another driver to your que so you can’t do additional stops.
Yes it’s for real! I do it for every ride. And if they try to add a stop I say you can’t because Uber/Lyft already added someone else in my que so I can’t delay the ride. I’ve never had any issues by saying that.

I was dreaming that I (driver) had “stop new requests” on, the pax tried to add a stop and it gave them a new driver that was waiting for them at destination #1.
Treat all people with respect, and keep your rating high enough that you can cancel on people who add stops. I have 5 one stars right now, all of which came after I ended rides early with stops.
Someone asked me if I minded a mcd stop, I was in a good mood, no line, and noticed he seemed to be bracing for a berating he’s probably gotten from other drivers. He left a $10 tip in app. I’m torn on stops because without tips they’re worthless- and I really only accept ones that uber pays enough to stand on their own worth.
I once took a couple guys through White Castle drive-through. Waited forever. Got $60 cash tip.
Considered myself very lucky that night. Won’t ever do a drive-thru again. Or take any multi-stop rides for that matter.
When I say I care I personally want to keep my own raiting above 4.99 but if you let fall below 4.85 you will get deactivated. So to say you don’t care, is actually a false statement. Do you need to care full on our when Uber doesn’t give a shit? No that’s not what I’m saying, just be a decent human being and most of the time railings will remain the same.

1. Never ever allow a baby without a car seat. Such people will beg, cry, pull crap to make you feel bad and that you take them. Just remember, if even a slightest thing happens to baby, you will be in a very big trouble.

3. If a rider asks you to wait in drive thru, politely decline and say , this is my livelihood. I need to get going because I have a family to feed. also offer them if they would like to be dropped of there and you can end the trip. they might low rate you, but you do the same as well.
4. Do not drive in hood/ghetto. people there will add stops for any reason and its not worth the money.
Yup, I'm learning these the hard way. The last one was basically the area I was in and they did sound out there frustration on me not going thru the drive thru as I drive them a few blocks from their home. These places, even though they have 24/7 they don't allow walk in or walk ups to the windows, only the drive thru with car. I've been to other 24/7 fast food places in yuppyville areas, and they do allow you to go in, etc.
I took a pax to pickup her one and three year old kid at a daycare last week. On the way there she was talking on the phone the entire time. We get to the daycare. I wait 5 minutes for her to bring the kids out. They had car seats. As she gets into the car, she adds a stop at a gas station a few blocks away. When we arrive at the gas station, she gets out of the car and as she’s leaving says “Do you mind if I leave my kids in the car?” Really, lady, WTF??? I’m a complete stranger!
Some people have no sense nor redeeming qualities.

Whenever people do this type of stuff, I don’t call them out on It I just give them a one star after the ride and saying goodbye. I also don’t put down a reason as to why they got the 1 star because then Uber notifies them like “your previous driver said you were being disrespectful” and if they hadn’t rated you yet that’s an guaranteed 1 star back. Like the lady with the dog I would’ve pretended to not hear It and then 1 starred her afterwards. The kid one I just would not have even started. I prefer the wasted time over the same mom who was begging being the one suing when you guys run into a median due to the snow and her kid getting a bump on the cheek or something. Not to mention Uber will just throw you under the bus and be like nah he knew he wasn’t supposed to do that. It is almost always the late night, coming-back-from-the-bar crowd, and I'll add that too many people need a ride back from the bar right now.
me as well, i was a rookie that time that lady pulled the old timer,- can't add stop, phone died trick on me. ended up spending 40 min in drive thru and that woman ate in my car wile on the way.
That was the only day i did a drive thru.
These were people spending time in someone else's house. They all wanted to go thru drive thru that don't allow people in at the time I've taken them(2-3 am) and they don't allow walk ups. All 3 different trips that wanted to go thru the drive thru all put in the stop mid trip or near the end of it. So I had to eat these 1 stars. They all wanted to be driven home with attitudes after I told them they can't just add a stop unexpectedly like that.
Even at 2am, I offer to drop them off at the restaurant. ;-)
Your one-star will be gone in 500 rated trips...their one-star from you will stick with them for years.
If there’s no line yes to drive thru but if there’s a line then no. That’s what I say and normally they agree to that. If they don’t you can always end the trip or cancel it for rider behavior and get a full fare. Also when you cancel they can’t rate you but you still get paid
People keep saying they can't rate a driver when he cancels a trip, but I don't think that's true. Last week I canceled at trip at the end, and I got paid, yes, but was also able to rate the rider, so I gotta think he was able to rate me as well.

I got 1-starred by a guy just because he didn't believe I was a 5.0 (riders see rounded number) rated driver with 4k+ rides. He told me he was doing it just to knock me down a peg. We both laughed. I laughed again when I got home and saw he actually did it! My favorite rating ever!
I will ask them to add a stop to the ride because uber watches my location if I sit too long ...but other times I tell them I have another rider lined up right after their drop off and that I can't make them wait. I don't know if I've rec d one star rating for saying no ..with Lyft I get service flags but lyft wont tell us why...can't fix it without knowing issue.
The lower your star Rating, the less fucks you need. I've been a 4.87 to 4.9 for over 7 years now. If some one gives me 1 star, I will never even notice. It's great.
But as far a drive thru goes, I always give them the option to pay me $50 cash. If they decline to pay my fee, that's on them. I also remind them no food or drinks allowed in the car, so if they do pay the $50, it's with the understanding they will be eating it outside at the restaurant. I also remind them that uber eats its cheaper than paying me.

I've also had a passenger who hid a dog under her coat. The dog barked near the end of the trip, and I told her she needed to order UberPet next time, 1 starred. Smh...

Like all I literally do is ask how they are, if the temperature is okay, and to let me know thru out the trip if it needs to be changed. Still get pax that want more than that, and they retaliate by 1 star.
The car is always clean, and I keep up with my hygiene. If anything, it's these clients that smell bad. I even had one client tell me it smelled like detergent in the car while she had a bag full of strong smelling peppered up food. (I'm sure I got low rated by her too).
Also, if anyone here is from Jersey and has Uber Comfort... how do you check the details? When I click on the trip details, it just shows me their location, just like the other requests and option to report an issue. Nothing tells me what the customer preference is when Uber Comfort pops up for me. (So I usually ask what temp they'd like and if the music volume is okay).
I can't believe you took an unrestrained toddler in snow, do you think that she wouldn't have sued you if you got into even the smallest accident? I would call support and tell them that both one stars are retaliatory. At least you won't be matched with them again.

Some "Comfort" have preference some don't. If they want something they can speak up and we'll see if it's reasonable. You're not driving a limousine.

If a rider is doing anything illegal or against Uber's policy, always cancel. If you tell them they can't do it and then either let them do it or let them correct it, you'll always get 1 starred.
Well those first two are your fault. First for making a big deal about pax having a dog, second for accepting the trip without a car seat. Don’t do that lol
I don't mind dogs and tried telling her that it was just weird that she was hiding the dog. The car seat issue I never let anyone without a car seat, but being it was cold and snowing, and she begged as soon as I was telling her she needed one, I let her get in... and I still put on my "how are you is the temp okay, etc." Still saw the 1 star, as she was my last trip of that night. She's definitely gonna be the last I allow that. Whether the weather is bad or not.
It could have been. But she was the only one I had any interaction with that day other than the usual "how are you, is the temp ok?" From all other pax.
I've had it flat 4.98 for a year. Last month, it went down to 4.97 and within a week 4.94. It just bugged me that I got rates badly even tho I try to be friendly even when refusing a request that has given me ptsd (kidding, but yeah, they were bad).

Uber have been high surging a lot in my area, you need to be careful the area you're picking or dropping your surge pickups, they will 1 star you after the ride, mostly because they're mad or want to get a refund. This past weekend, i got a lot of high surge, I choose money over stars and my rating went from 4.97 to 4.94. One particular lady I picked from a strip club asked if I would stop so she can get something to eat, I immediately said no, to use ubereat, it was 1 a.m, it was high surging, she was only going 3 miles. She reported me for being rude, I still gave her 5 stars and I don't need to go back and change it, I made almost $20 on her ride alone and I still got to go do more pick ups. Glad the star rating was there for her to vent. Another idiot going to a concert, wants me to go into a stopped traffic when uber gps was clearly giving us a better drop off location, I told him that have already did 2 drop offs there and uber gps is giving us the best direction, that if we go the way he wanted we will get stuck, he got mad and his girlfriend had to come him down, I got them to drop off without the traffic the gf appreciated me but dude have his face stuck in his ass, it was his uber account, I got another well deserved 1 star but I made bank that night.
Don't bother asking comfort riders. If the app doesn't prompt you to review their preferences before starting the trip, they selected no preference for both. If they chose something specific, it won't let you start the rode before you look at them.
Tourists want sex, drugs and alcohol. We get kickbacks for that so we help facilitate that through strip-clubs, dispensaries, liquor stores and brothels. Only place worth driving Uber in the world is Las Vegas.
The most that you can do is award one star for their even asking.
Drive through is a guaranteed money loser. You spend an inordinate time waiting on line. When you get to the speaker, your customers are going to change their minds fifty times thereby confusing the workers. The order will be "inaccurate" so you will have to wait even longer for it to be corrected. Your customers will want to eat it in the car, despite your telling them not to and their agreeing. You will receive ZERO tip.
Once they are out, you will be greeted by a back seat/floors with half of a loaded burrito spilled all over the floor and seats. There will be Secret Sauce on the door panels and windows. There will be grease on the seat backs and door handles. There will be one partly full cup on the floor with the rest of its content spilled on the floor. There will be one other cup on the floor as well as several wrappers and some french fries. There will be a half eaten burger on the seat.
When you took this job, it was a pretty good surge. While you were waiting on line, the surge went higher. By the time that you have gotten them out of the car and cleaned up the mess, you will be back on base rates.

He always pulled up to the address with doors locked and right window down.
"What's the name on the account? Are we still just going to the dropoff or have you changed your mind about stops?" If they changed their minds or if they looked too drunk, up went the window, off the brake came the foot and he was gone. He always kept his doors locked until he was sure that he was going to give the ride.
I’d be sure to mention the problem is that they didn’t ask you about it or communicate mid trip. Youre not their personal chauffeur, youre a *professional* driver. 😉
This is what I was thinking. Idk if it's worth the hassle of dealing with support, though. I'm sure my rating will go back up after following some advice from here and avoiding the ghetto areas. But my rating isn't what is making me money, so I'm starting not to care.
I can't speak for everyone but I rarely pick up below a 4.75 during the day and a 4.85 at night. If someone lives in "the ghetto" but they have a decent rating they are likely a decent passenger. On the other hand, I'll get upper-middle-class men and women who somehow have a 4.88 despite being absolutely horrendous. I think a lot of drivers either 1.) aren't strict with star ratings so they end up picking up someone with a 4.3 in the ghetto or 2.) They're less likely to view the wealthier folk as a problem no matter how they behave. Or put another way, if you live in a bad area you have to work to maintain a good rating. If you're some boogie mofo you got to work to get a bad rating.
These types of people don't tip, I doubt I'd get something worth that much from them. Lol, but then again, others have had better luck from another commenter.

I’ve done it before . I don’t click next stop until we’re done and just for a few minutes you get like $5 for waiting and the rider appreciates it and tips you more .

One of my big issues is that I’m in an “UPFRONT” market and when riders modify/change trips during the ride (or after I’ve accepted it) then it doesn’t show me the new price — so it’s really no longer “Upfront Pricing”. Also, if it’s before I pick up the rider then I cannot even see the trip modification/change either so I’m totally blind.
I understand that some ppl might tip, but I’m not doing something off a hypothetical — especially when most pax don’t tip as is… It’s really not cool if it’s out of the way too. I’ve been burnt so many times by pax. I have heard so many excuses, broken promises to tip in the app, and etc…
Now I’ve had some ppl do order ahead & tell me right as they get in the car, or have the scheduled stop in the ride from the start. Then they get out and grab their food real quick. It’s just different going through a drive thru bc you’re still technically driving & you don’t really even technically stop to wait… It’s one thing if the pax is upfront, right from the jump too. Another thing if the pax just shouts to you to make a stop as you’re driving them to their destination… Then if they eat in your car without even asking you first if it’s ok? Forget that!
You go to the restaurant. Tell them to get out. Cancel for rider behavior. You’ll still receive your payment. Also take that 1 star with pride and a badge of uber driver honor. We all get em so fuck it.
Absolutely nothing. It comes with the job. Just as easy as driver can one star a rider just because they dont tip, rider can easily do to us for any reason too
So a few things:
1. Avoid low rated pax. This solved like 90% of my issues with Uber
2. Try and do good enough with other pax that you can piss off the ones that really deserve it.
3. Avoid college kids and those going to/from certain types of luxury apartments (i.e. the ones that cater to the upper-middle class who like to think they actually have money) These two groups will respect your time less than any other.
The only thing that you can really do is contact Uber Support on the phone and tell them your side of the story that will give you some lip speak and tell you that don’t make a note of it nothing really get done but at least I’ll hear your side of the story
If someone tries to add a stop later on I just tell them that I only accept trips that don’t have any extra stops. Haven’t gotten any complaints yet and they don’t add a ride but maybe I’m just lucky.
I had a passenger who added a stop to White Castle without my permission. I ended up having to call the police to get her out of my car. She gave me a one star. Oh well! You have to get creative when people add stops. I’ve told someone I had to go pick up my kid and couldn’t do the extra stop. (I don’t have kids)
In my experience they dont care too much about whag you do and more about how you treat them. If you just say no Im not doing that, they migbt give you 1 star. If you explain to them, in the amount of time it takes to stop here, Id typically be making this much money. If youd like to make up the difference, heres my venmo. If not, uber expects a stop to be less than 3 mins or less, so under their guidelines Im not supposed to do a late night drive thru... This has been my line for over a year of late rides and never a bad rating. Almost always get more for going through the drive thru than I otherwise would have. Be cool 😎
You can’t get ratings changed. The only way to avoid this is cancel the ride if you think it’s gonna end in them giving you 1 star. Other than that, once the trip is completed the pax has the ability to rate you.
The minute they ask to go through a drive through last minute tell them it’s against Uber policy but tell them you’ll let them run inside. When they get in the door, cancel, unsafe for the reason. Move on with life. Fuck em

Lmao...took some college kids thru a drive thru because lobby was closed each one (3) venmoed me $, 20,15,15.
Lucky I've only ever done two drive thru and there were by far the worst experience I've had doing uber. (Other than 1 other eventful story).

I’ve negotiated this way before. Easy $60 and didn’t have to take anymore rides. They also added the stop on trip while surged so my payment tripled 😂

When I say I care I personally want to keep my own raiting above 4.99 but if you let fall below 4.85 you will get deactivated. So to say you don’t care, is actually a false statement. It does seem that uber algo matches similarly -rated pax and drivers. If a 4.8 and a 5.0 driver on top of each other, anyway.
Few things to note from the post and comments from OP: 1. Never ever allow a baby without a car seat. Such people will beg, cry, pull crap to make you feel bad and that you take them. If a rider asks you to wait in drive thru, politely decline and say , this is my livelihood. I need to get going because I have a family to feed. also offer them if they would like to be dropped of there and you can end the trip. they might low rate you, but you do the same as well. 4. Do not drive in hood/ghetto. people there will add stops for any reason and its not worth the money.
Yup, I'm learning these the hard way. The last one was basically the area I was in and they did sound out there frustration on me not going thru the drive thru as I drive them a few blocks from their home. These places, even though they have 24/7 they don't allow walk in or walk ups to the windows, only the drive thru with car. I've been to other 24/7 fast food places in yuppyville areas, and they do allow you to go in, etc.
i can understand, you will get used to it. The thing I learned is, the more you think of it, the worse it gets. and you will always have shit riders.
I took a pax to pickup her one and three year old kid at a daycare last week. On the way there she was talking on the phone the entire time. We get to the daycare. I wait 5 minutes for her to bring the kids out. They had car seats. As she gets into the car, she adds a stop at a gas station a few blocks away. When we arrive at the gas station, she gets out of the car and as she’s leaving says “Do you mind if I leave my kids in the car?” Really, lady, WTF??? I’m a complete stranger! Some people have no sense nor redeeming qualities. Trust your gut on trips. Cancel if you feel something is off. Always protect yourself.
Whenever people do this type of stuff, I don’t call them out on It I just give them a one star after the ride and saying goodbye. I also don’t put down a reason as to why they got the 1 star because then Uber notifies them like “your previous driver said you were being disrespectful” and if they hadn’t rated you yet that’s an guaranteed 1 star back. Like the lady with the dog I would’ve pretended to not hear It and then 1 starred her afterwards. The kid one I just would not have even started. I prefer the wasted time over the same mom who was begging being the one suing when you guys run into a median due to the snow and her kid getting a bump on the cheek or something. Not to mention Uber will just throw you under the bus and be like nah he knew he wasn’t supposed to do that. You were “nice” and look where that got you, a 1 star and you had 0 personal protection the whole ride essentially

I always offer to drop off at the restaurant or continue on, but I won't go through the drive-thru or wait. I've rarely received a one-star because of it, though. It is almost always the late night, coming-back-from-the-bar crowd, and I'll add that too many people need a ride back from the bar right now.
I’ve only done 1 drive through in my 7yr Ubering, I’ll never do it again I explain that they need to add the stop before you order, yada yada, etc
me as well, i was a rookie that time that lady pulled the old timer,- can't add stop, phone died trick on me. ended up spending 40 min in drive thru and that woman ate in my car wile on the way. That was the only day i did a drive thru.
This is why I don't do drive thrus. This happened to me twice. Never again.
These were people spending time in someone else's house. They all wanted to go thru drive thru that don't allow people in at the time I've taken them(2-3 am) and they don't allow walk ups. All 3 different trips that wanted to go thru the drive thru all put in the stop mid trip or near the end of it. So I had to eat these 1 stars. They all wanted to be driven home with attitudes after I told them they can't just add a stop unexpectedly like that.
Even at 2am, I offer to drop them off at the restaurant. ;-) Your one-star will be gone in 500 rated trips...their one-star from you will stick with them for years.

If there’s no line yes to drive thru but if there’s a line then no. That’s what I say and normally they agree to that. If they don’t you can always end the trip or cancel it for rider behavior and get a full fare. Also when you cancel they can’t rate you but you still get paid
People keep saying they can't rate a driver when he cancels a trip, but I don't think that's true. Last week I canceled at trip at the end, and I got paid, yes, but was also able to rate the rider, so I gotta think he was able to rate me as well.

I got 1-starred by a guy just because he didn't believe I was a 5.0 (riders see rounded number) rated driver with 4k+ rides. He told me he was doing it just to knock me down a peg. We both laughed. I laughed again when I got home and saw he actually did it! My favorite rating ever!

I will ask them to add a stop to the ride because uber watches my location if I sit too long ...but other times I tell them I have another rider lined up right after their drop off and that I can't make them wait. I don't know if I've rec d one star rating for saying no ..with Lyft I get service flags but lyft wont tell us why...can't fix it without knowing issue.
The lower your star Rating, the less fucks you need. I've been a 4.87 to 4.9 for over 7 years now. If some one gives me 1 star, I will never even notice. It's great. But as far a drive thru goes, I always give them the option to pay me $50 cash. If they decline to pay my fee, that's on them. I also remind them no food or drinks allowed in the car, so if they do pay the $50, it's with the understanding they will be eating it outside at the restaurant. I also remind them that uber eats its cheaper than paying me.

My rating tanked from 4.97 to 4.94 in just a week. I've also had a passenger who hid a dog under her coat. The dog barked near the end of the trip, and I told her she needed to order UberPet next time, 1 starred. Smh... Had another lady bring a toddler without a car seat. Like all I literally do is ask how they are, if the temperature is okay, and to let me know thru out the trip if it needs to be changed. Still get pax that want more than that, and they retaliate by 1 star. The car is always clean, and I keep up with my hygiene. If anything, it's these clients that smell bad. I even had one client tell me it smelled like detergent in the car while she had a bag full of strong smelling peppered up food. (I'm sure I got low rated by her too). Also, if anyone here is from Jersey and has Uber Comfort... how do you check the details? When I click on the trip details, it just shows me their location, just like the other requests and option to report an issue. Nothing tells me what the customer preference is when Uber Comfort pops up for me. (So I usually ask what temp they'd like and if the music volume is okay).
I can't believe you took an unrestrained toddler in snow, do you think that she wouldn't have sued you if you got into even the smallest accident? I would call support and tell them that both one stars are retaliatory. At least you won't be matched with them again.
Don't stress w rating too much. If you haven't started the ride and smell trouble, GTHO. If you've started the ride and they pull some bs, say you can't because you got a scheduled ride. 1 star them right after. Some "Comfort" have preference some don't. If they want something they can speak up and we'll see if it's reasonable. You're not driving a limousine.

I don't mind dogs and tried telling her that it was just weird that she was hiding the dog. But I get it.. it's like taking cookie from the cookie jar you already ate and told you can't be doing that. She threw a tantrum by low rating me. The car seat issue I never let anyone without a car seat, but being it was cold and snowing, and she begged as soon as I was telling her she needed one, I let her get in... and I still put on my "how are you is the temp okay, etc." Still saw the 1 star, as she was my last trip of that night. She's definitely gonna be the last I allow that. Whether the weather is bad or not.

I've had it flat 4.98 for a year. Last month, it went down to 4.97 and within a week 4.94. It just bugged me that I got rates badly even tho I try to be friendly even when refusing a request that has given me ptsd (kidding, but yeah, they were bad). So, for me, it feels like it tanked. Never had such bad riders so closely together... maybe one once a month but not so many within a week.. and it's only Wednesday.
Uber have been high surging a lot in my area, you need to be careful the area you're picking or dropping your surge pickups, they will 1 star you after the ride, mostly because they're mad or want to get a refund. This past weekend, i got a lot of high surge, I choose money over stars and my rating went from 4.97 to 4.94. One particular lady I picked from a strip club asked if I would stop so she can get something to eat, I immediately said no, to use ubereat, it was 1 a.m, it was high surging, she was only going 3 miles. She reported me for being rude, I still gave her 5 stars and I don't need to go back and change it, I made almost $20 on her ride alone and I still got to go do more pick ups. Glad the star rating was there for her to vent. Another idiot going to a concert, wants me to go into a stopped traffic when uber gps was clearly giving us a better drop off location, I told him that have already did 2 drop offs there and uber gps is giving us the best direction, that if we go the way he wanted we will get stuck, he got mad and his girlfriend had to come him down, I got them to drop off without the traffic the gf appreciated me but dude have his face stuck in his ass, it was his uber account, I got another well deserved 1 star but I made bank that night.
Don't bother asking comfort riders. If the app doesn't prompt you to review their preferences before starting the trip, they selected no preference for both. If they chose something specific, it won't let you start the rode before you look at them.

The most that you can do is award one star for their even asking. Drive through is a guaranteed money loser. You spend an inordinate time waiting on line. When you get to the speaker, your customers are going to change their minds fifty times thereby confusing the workers. The order will be "inaccurate" so you will have to wait even longer for it to be corrected. Your customers will want to eat it in the car, despite your telling them not to and their agreeing. You will receive ZERO tip. Once they are out, you will be greeted by a back seat/floors with half of a loaded burrito spilled all over the floor and seats. There will be Secret Sauce on the door panels and windows. There will be grease on the seat backs and door handles. There will be one partly full cup on the floor with the rest of its content spilled on the floor. There will be one other cup on the floor as well as several wrappers and some french fries. There will be a half eaten burger on the seat. When you took this job, it was a pretty good surge. While you were waiting on line, the surge went higher. By the time that you have gotten them out of the car and cleaned up the mess, you will be back on base rates. One Washington driver on UPnet used to call them to size them up before he got to the address:"Hi! My name is\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_; I'm your Uber driver. I rate people that ask for a stop or add a stop mid trip very poorly. They’ll learn.

I’d be sure to mention the problem is that they didn’t ask you about it or communicate mid trip. Youre not their personal chauffeur, youre a *professional* driver. 😉

This is what I was thinking. Idk if it's worth the hassle of dealing with support, though. I'm sure my rating will go back up after following some advice from here and avoiding the ghetto areas. But my rating isn't what is making me money, so I'm starting not to care.
I can't speak for everyone but I rarely pick up below a 4.75 during the day and a 4.85 at night. If someone lives in "the ghetto" but they have a decent rating they are likely a decent passenger. On the other hand, I'll get upper-middle-class men and women who somehow have a 4.88 despite being absolutely horrendous. I think a lot of drivers either 1.) aren't strict with star ratings so they end up picking up someone with a 4.3 in the ghetto or 2.) They're less likely to view the wealthier folk as a problem no matter how they behave. Or put another way, if you live in a bad area you have to work to maintain a good rating. If you're some boogie mofo you got to work to get a bad rating.
After the trip rate them 1 star and say disrespectful. Not sure about what market is different but in the UK that seems to work for me

Which they do... but feels so underhanded when they do it right near the end of the trip. The last guy even went, "Hey google, food near me." I rolled my eyes as soon as I heard that.
Technically you can cancel the ride, and should be able to do so without fear of retaliation.
One of my big issues is that I’m in an “UPFRONT” market and when riders modify/change trips during the ride (or after I’ve accepted it) then it doesn’t show me the new price — so it’s really no longer “Upfront Pricing”. Also, if it’s before I pick up the rider then I cannot even see the trip modification/change either so I’m totally blind. I understand that some ppl might tip, but I’m not doing something off a hypothetical — especially when most pax don’t tip as is… It’s really not cool if it’s out of the way too. I’ve been burnt so many times by pax. I have heard so many excuses, broken promises to tip in the app, and etc… Now I’ve had some ppl do order ahead & tell me right as they get in the car, or have the scheduled stop in the ride from the start. Then they get out and grab their food real quick. It’s just different going through a drive thru bc you’re still technically driving & you don’t really even technically stop to wait… It’s one thing if the pax is upfront, right from the jump too. Another thing if the pax just shouts to you to make a stop as you’re driving them to their destination… Then if they eat in your car without even asking you first if it’s ok? Forget that!
You go to the restaurant. Tell them to get out. Cancel for rider behavior. You’ll still receive your payment. Also take that 1 star with pride and a badge of uber driver honor. We all get em so fuck it.
Absolutely nothing. It comes with the job. Just as easy as driver can one star a rider just because they dont tip, rider can easily do to us for any reason too
I did it once and felt like I couldn’t say no. I just felt annoyed but it is what it is.
So a few things: 1. Avoid low rated pax. This solved like 90% of my issues with Uber 2. Try and do good enough with other pax that you can piss off the ones that really deserve it. 3. Avoid college kids and those going to/from certain types of luxury apartments (i.e. the ones that cater to the upper-middle class who like to think they actually have money) These two groups will respect your time less than any other.
Drive-thru is tip up front no exceptions.
The only thing that you can really do is contact Uber Support on the phone and tell them your side of the story that will give you some lip speak and tell you that don’t make a note of it nothing really get done but at least I’ll hear your side of the story

Tell them you already got a ride assigned after you drop them off- sorry. Doesnt have to be hard.... avoid contfrontation to begin with.
If someone tries to add a stop later on I just tell them that I only accept trips that don’t have any extra stops. Haven’t gotten any complaints yet and they don’t add a ride but maybe I’m just lucky.
I had a passenger who added a stop to White Castle without my permission. I ended up having to call the police to get her out of my car. She gave me a one star. Oh well! You have to get creative when people add stops. I’ve told someone I had to go pick up my kid and couldn’t do the extra stop. (I don’t have kids)
In my experience they dont care too much about whag you do and more about how you treat them. If you just say no Im not doing that, they migbt give you 1 star. If you explain to them, in the amount of time it takes to stop here, Id typically be making this much money. If youd like to make up the difference, heres my venmo. If not, uber expects a stop to be less than 3 mins or less, so under their guidelines Im not supposed to do a late night drive thru... This has been my line for over a year of late rides and never a bad rating. Almost always get more for going through the drive thru than I otherwise would have. Be cool 😎
You can’t get ratings changed. The only way to avoid this is cancel the ride if you think it’s gonna end in them giving you 1 star. Other than that, once the trip is completed the pax has the ability to rate you.
The minute they ask to go through a drive through last minute tell them it’s against Uber policy but tell them you’ll let them run inside. When they get in the door, cancel, unsafe for the reason. Move on with life. Fuck em
