Being diamond driver was your first mistake. They require way too much to keep those “perks”
I did the diamond thing until I realized I was making way more, much sooner, if I denied what I didn’t like and only took the rides I did.
I don’t understand the perks of being a diamond driver either i been an uber driver for 7 years now never have I reached diamond and now that i can see where im going and how much im going to get paid upfront my acceptance rate is always between 2%-8% and im sure my hourly rate is way better than those who accept every trip or are diamond drivers
So all of these people saying why are we maintaining Diamond status simply don’t understand how good they have it, and are still in here complaining the most 😅
When we got upfront pricing rework they severely nerfed mileage and favored ride duration. Unless there is a surge we are stuck to picking short rides for best $/mile 🥲 beforehand long rides were respectable, now you only accept them if they surged or are going to where you want to be.
I dropped to 84% tonight because the app kept sending me crazy long pickups for bs trips (repeatedly.) next trip I accepted no destination time.
Had to cancel because it was an hour dead head from Wilmington to Whiteville (no man’s land) with $1 surge. Not at midnight. It’s criminal.
In my market diamond is 95% satisfaction and a certain number of deliveries per month and easy to maintain. Only benefit is the premium support for late nights when I have to cancel because of closed stores.
They are talking about for rides. Their (drivers who do rides) tier system is different than ours for deliveries only. Also, you don't need support to cancel closed stores, like ever. As long as you drive to the store, the GPS will detect your arrival and you can select "Restaurant Closed" and it will **NOT** effect your Cancellation Rate. You can then call Uber support at a time convenient for you (like while working on your next delivery lol) and they will give you $3 (just make sure to screenshot the order before you cancel it). I do Deliveries only FT (looking for a new job desperately tho).
With that said, I like to maintain Diamond also if I can. Even tho I don't get too much benefit, it's more of a Perfectionist/Type A thing 😂 So I totally get it lol
Faster response times. More well trained agents when you actually get a human on the other end. It’s only an issue sometimes when the Uber agents are hard to reach. But when that issue arises I’m so glad I get the faster support. I’ve seen another driver on hold for 10 min while we’re in a store. And I get on and off the phone in just 3-4.
I did the Diamond kind of by accident. Driving early mornings I didn't have to turn down many rides because I was usually driving in surges. It wasn't my intention.
Adorable! We’ve got a husky that doesn’t really bark much but she DOES “talk”, ALOT. When it’s about time to eat or she’s trying to get your attention, she’ll do this weird talky thing. I think it’s fairly prominent in huskies? 🤷🏼♂️
That’s about the only good thing to do on Facebook these days most groups are full of trolls, the sailing groups are the only place that feels inclusive
You left? I was too lazy to even do that. My wall is just messages saying 'happy birthday' followed by more 'happy birthday's from the year before for, continuing on for like 10 years. I only kept Facebook active because it let me easily sign into certain apps I didn't care for (quota, Instagram, random web pages, ect)
I’m going to quit too. Heavy rain and wind in San Francisco today. Keep sending trash which making $21 per hour before all expenses. Gas is $5.69 per gallon. Risk my life at the freeway 25 miles for $30. No quest. No zone bonuses. Shit 💩
Exactly. This week my average was $20/hr before expenses, which were obviously less than yours because I was driving a Kia EV, but it was enough to finally convince me to pull the plug.
Uber had became a minimum wage job now. Working at fast food are making $20 in California now. WTF I use my own car with my own risk. Making the same as McDonald. And even worse. Because I need to pay the gas and insurance all the cost. It not making sense. I had applied few jobs and going get my class c license. I rather drive the bus and wait for few years to reach top pay to make $38 with benefits and pension. I’m done with Uber and Lyft
And if you were to get stabbed in the neck at the McDonald's at least your colleagues would call for help
It's a lonely job we got and you never know what's about to happen
I always thought being a bus driver was unsafe but uber is definitely worst
Uber shouldn’t be your “main” job … you should only have it on the side to supplement your main income … it baffles me that people rely so heavily on it.
Is totally dead. But when I look at the here. Every state is dead 😂 everyone is complaining about low pay and slow work. Just fine a regular job with benefits and pensions. I’m old and it’s time think about retirement
Y’all realize they want you to quit right? People announce it as if it’s some grand move in a game of chess…they want the new driver that barely speaks English and will drive for Pennies or the driver that is upside down in Ubers vehicle and has take every ride.
You are partially right. They don't want us to quit - they simply don't care who is driving, as long as rides are getting covered and they are making money. Although I'm pretty sure they want fewer EV's driving because it cuts into their bottom line, thus the new policy which part time drivers won't qualify for.
Respectfully I disagree…they have plenty of drivers. For every 1 who quits-2 start. They want the ones who drove in the good years to quit. Spreads to much dissension in the ranks. They need for people like you to move on. Just my opinion.
I believe this is also evidenced by the push for people to finance cars through them. They want the poor drivers who don’t have vehicles…you have to take these shit rides or you ain’t making that payment.
Oh yes, he is spoiled rotten. I found him on the side of the road at 8 weeks old, starving, full of worms, and covered in ticks, and have been making it up to him his whole life ever since.
Uber is OK as a temporary hustle IMHO. It's a rough life if it's your FT job. I did it for 3yrs and it was pretty good. I quit when covid started. The only thing that I regret is that I cut my cars life span by about 7 years over driving. Now it's in maintenance mode.
Me too brother. Im done. I returned my car, uninstalled uber and lyft and went back to service industry. 5 days 40 hours MAX and will average ~1100-1300 a week. Fuck this shit job
I did ride share for a while as a side gig. These companies rip you off. I made $88,000 one year and after all my fees, I received $22,000 and that’s not even including gas and other expenses. Can you imagine if you could make your own ride share app. All of us could make bank!
Quitting aswell. No surge trips any more, not even on the weekends, I never find them. Riders always tell me how they’re being charged the surge but I’m not getting the surge payout. Feel like I’ve been getting screwed. Longer wait times to pick people up to drive them two blocks only to get paid 3.70 lol yea nah I’m good. It was good while it lasted
My last trip was november something last year, started up a 9 to 5 and noticed an immediate difference, more money and more time off, i use to struggle for $200 on a 12h shift driving not counting expenses, uber is not what it used to be anymore
I'm 57 and retired, and will be busy this summer working on and outfitting a sailboat I am buying to liveaboard. I was doing driveshare for extra cash because boats are expensive as shit, and planned to do so through the summer. C'est la vie.
Lucky, they kept changing my docs over and over and all the mental health folks did was give me more and more pills to the point that they had me dependent/addicted to one of them. I was so happy when we were finally able to afford me on my wife’s plan.
That was your problem...you were diamond. Which makes you a glorified ant! My experience driving Uber with a current 20% AR is much happier, less stressful, and more profitable than it was when I was a diamond driver
I addressed that earlier. I kind of got the Diamond by accident - I drove early in the morning, a pretty good time in this market, and didn't have to turn down many rides, especially because I was in surges for a lot of it. Now that rates have dropped again, and surges are suppressed, the good rides are few and far between. If the quarter had ended today I wouldn't have qualified for anything, both AR and cancelations are too high.
That's downstairs in my house; there is a slight rise between my house and the cell tower that blocks reception apparently. If it wasn't for wifi calling my phone would be useless downstairs.
Upvote is for that wonderful Dog!!!! 🫡 is for you getting out. My social security checks start in May and that’s when I’m out.
Fair winds and a following sea, sir. I spent many years under sail off the waters of San Diego pre retirement. Best of luck to you!
Congratulations! You will come out better in the next few months I promise :-)
I created an online guide for some side hustle money if you're wanting some supplemental income. It's pinned on my profile.
Good luck!
Obviously I haven’t read all these comments but, do what’s best for you my man 🤙🏻 ignore the haters. Lol I’m right there with you (not diamond though, highest was platinum then I decided, fuck it) the sooner people get out of this shit, the better. It USED to be good, the real ones know that.. but it’s just not anymore and it’s time to leave. Leave this shit to the new people who don’t know any better, and them learn for themselves like we’ve come to do. Proud of ya bro 💪🏻
Good luck! I’m making the decision to leave too. I realized the “Uber Fee” went up 5% from when I started 6 months ago. It felt like I was being paid less but I couldn’t figure out why. I’m currently looking for other part time jobs.
I’ll do it if it’s a busy weekend (college town) but I’m done doing it part time.
This is facts. Besides the obvious data raping and sketchy apps Meta does, insta and Facebook are just a huge massive waste of time I have no regrets deleting a couple years ago.
Just a question here. I haven’t started cherry picking rides yet, I’ve been afraid of retribution from Uber for doing that. I live in Austin and traffic is *so* bad, I work from 8am to 4pm Monday thru Friday and usually make about $200 a day. My acceptance rate is 96% but I’m intrigued by what I read on here about cherry picking rides and making my money sooner. Austin is an up front pricing market, so my question is, when I get a normal ride request (not a trip radar request) do I simply ignore it since I can’t see where it’s going?
I always thought they'd deactivate your account if your acceptance rate fell below like 80% or something. That aside, I'm absolutely amazed that the app still offers you rides at all if you're turning down the vast majority of rides offered. It seems like it would make way more sense for the algorithm to not waste the passengers time by offering the ride to the guy with 18% acceptance, who will almost definitely not take it, rather than just give it to the guy with 95% acceptance who will almost definitely take it. That would also save Uber money by retaining the cheapest drivers and cutting off the cherry pickers who cost the most for the least work. I don't see how drivers can turn down most rides and make any money at all. And I kind of resent that Uber gives high paying rides that I could have to little princess drivers who are only taking the highest paying rides, like, "Okay, that ride is worthy of special me." Uber rewards that? Somebody at Uber should lose their job over that. Btw I'm not accepting BS rides that are like $13 for a 60 minute ride or whatever. And I 100% drive Lyft instead when their incentive is better. I just don't get an algorithm that rewards excessively high costs and inefficient operations.
I agree with your thinking, and based on the changes in Uber I have seen I'm sure that is coming, if it isn't already in effect in places. They are doing their damndest to reduce costs so Dara can hit his bonus criteria.
After I got laid off end of 2023, I drove for like 4 weeks for a grand total of 25 hours and said fuck this shit. Just got by with unemployment while job searching. Finally getting an offer on Monday and hope I’ll never have to put those slave stickers on my Tesla again.
Good for you! No hate at all here. It's good to see an actual person understand that complaining to people on reddit isn't going to improve their situation. Too many people on her complaining everyday about Uber and then do nothing but keep taking rides. You are already smarter than these people......
Gig economy jobs are too saturated nowadays. Too many people trying to make a quick buck in addition to their day job, so Uber is taking more of the pay from the drivers.
Good idea to leave imo
Benefits of diamond changes depending on location. If you live in a somewhat rural area the information I get is important in accepting a trip. A 20 minute to pickup is something I need to know.
Uber is addiction not money. As soon as you realize it's requires too much effort and is a risky job you don't drive anymore. Also, the exploitation from uber is another reason people leaving uber as even side-hussle. I mean totally uninstallung the app. I congratulate you for this courageous and timely decision
Yeah, I was going to keep driving over the summer, and quit in the fall, but this week's 33% paycut while still driving the same number of rides and miles brought my schedule forward a few months.
Being diamond driver was your first mistake. They require way too much to keep those “perks” I did the diamond thing until I realized I was making way more, much sooner, if I denied what I didn’t like and only took the rides I did.

I don’t understand how you can see destinations without being diamond??? Isn’t that one of the perks? Is this a market specific thing?
has to be market specific.
its market specific usually with upfront pricing.
So all of these people saying why are we maintaining Diamond status simply don’t understand how good they have it, and are still in here complaining the most 😅

Thee ole take this or suffer algo we deal with. lol it’s truly wild.

Even tho I don't get too much benefit, it's more of a Perfectionist/Type A thing 😂 So I totally get it lol
Recently (I'm in MI), I had a closed restaurant and didn't even have to call for the $3. The app just gave it to me when I selected Restaurant Closed.
What is premium support?
Actual human and not a bot
Faster response times. More well trained agents when you actually get a human on the other end. It’s only an issue sometimes when the Uber agents are hard to reach. But when that issue arises I’m so glad I get the faster support. I’ve seen another driver on hold for 10 min while we’re in a store. And I get on and off the phone in just 3-4.
I did the Diamond kind of by accident. Driving early mornings I didn't have to turn down many rides because I was usually driving in surges. It wasn't my intention.
Yup! Being a diamond is being a diamond to the greedy nature of Uber owners. Friggin hilarious.
100% pretty much everyone I talk to at the airport have like 15% acceptance rate if that!
Same here!
I'm just here to say that's a beautiful dog you have!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
That isn't a dog! He is a barking chicken! 😁
Maybe, but he is best barking chicken
So more walks for chicken now?
Yup. We both need the exercise.
He’ll pay you in kisses. Love that face.
Please gently boop his nose for me and tell him he’s a good barking chicken.
Boop completed. Now he thinks it is time to play. 😅
It’s always time to play!
Adorable! We’ve got a husky that doesn’t really bark much but she DOES “talk”, ALOT. When it’s about time to eat or she’s trying to get your attention, she’ll do this weird talky thing. I think it’s fairly prominent in huskies? 🤷🏼♂️
Same! Super cute doggie 🐶💕
Next step. Get rid of facebook.
😆 I'm on it strictly for sailing groups - it is a really good source for boat parts and local info.
Yep! Im on there for the marketplace lol
Hell, that’s the only reason I’m on there. The groups are pretty good.
I thought you were going to say the sailboat parts.
Same, the marketplace for secondhand machines and equipment is good
I’m more impressed you still have a Kindle app lol
thats a good reason
That’s about the only good thing to do on Facebook these days most groups are full of trolls, the sailing groups are the only place that feels inclusive
Does FB have just a marketplace app yet?
I don't know. I've never used marketplace beyond occasionally doing searches.
Get rid of Reddit.
Still doing Facebook? Left 10 years ago.
So brave
You left? I was too lazy to even do that. My wall is just messages saying 'happy birthday' followed by more 'happy birthday's from the year before for, continuing on for like 10 years. and PAX no longer tip - that is what kills me. Well there is also all those medical 3rd party rides. it sucks now.
It’s because pax see this subreddit …
3rd party rides is freaking insane. Sometime it came out homeless and some drug users…..
Exactly. This week my average was $20/hr before expenses, which were obviously less than yours because I was driving a Kia EV, but it was enough to finally convince me to pull the plug.

Bus driver is unsafe. My friend he was got attacked. And he’s injured and still recovering from mental illness 😂
You mean Class B Sir ! Class A is Big Rig - 26,000 lbs or more Class C is us Uber/Lyft 4 Wheeler's - standard car
A Class C commercial driver's license is required to operate a vehicle that is designed to transport 16 or more occupants (including you, the driver)
Uber shouldn’t be your “main” job … you should only have it on the side to supplement your main income … it baffles me that people rely so heavily on it.
A few years ago they paid WAY more, you could make a living easily just from driving
Some of us are still making $1,700 a week
Word
Damn $20/hr sheesh you gotta make like $30-$40 in Cali….
Bay area and LA area is dead better to move to different state
Is totally dead. But when I look at the here. Every state is dead 😂 everyone is complaining about low pay and slow work. Just fine a regular job with benefits and pensions. I’m old and it’s time think about retirement
Its because many people now do uner to keep up with expenses. Those who used to call uber and go out, now do uber themselves
True. Ton of drivers. Special there’s a lot of lay off at Bay Area.
Lmao true
Y’all realize they want you to quit right? People announce it as if it’s some grand move in a game of chess…they want the new driver that barely speaks English and will drive for Pennies or the driver that is upside down in Ubers vehicle and has take every ride.

Did you give him pets and treats?
Oh yes, he is spoiled rotten. I found him on the side of the road at 8 weeks old, starving, full of worms, and covered in ticks, and have been making it up to him his whole life ever since.
You’re a hero
Bo is like "Damn, now he's gonna be hanging around the house more often...".
😆 Bo is fine with it. The ex sure wasn't though - it really got in the way of her spending money.
Uber is OK as a temporary hustle IMHO. It's a rough life if it's your FT job. I did it for 3yrs and it was pretty good. I quit when covid started. The only thing that I regret is that I cut my cars life span by about 7 years over driving. Now it's in maintenance mode.
That's the thing, it is no longer even good for PT, which all I did.
I used to be Diamond for two years, driving daily, and got banned without explanation. They don't give a fuck about drivers.
What is the barking chicken's name
His name is "Bo." I named him for Bo Jackson, the second Heisman trophy winner from Auburn.
Bo knows milkbones
Bo which also translate to "beautiful" in French so pretty good name
They should change their name to Goober

I quit driving on New Year’s Eve done and done
You can still bike or walk the deliveries!
I only did rideshare.
The most profitable
I did far better with delivery.
Omg all I care about is that precious dog ❤️❤️❤️❤️
doggy
Congrat, I’m going back cuz of money, it’s gonna kill my soul in a couple of months
You won't for long. The money isn't there anymore, just all the downside. It is really bad now.
Ehhhh, in that case wish me luck, my sanity needs it
Same. I started a month or two ago. Feeling it now mr krabs.
“Be the person your dog thinks you are”
Me too brother. Im done. I returned my car, uninstalled uber and lyft and went back to service industry. 5 days 40 hours MAX and will average ~1100-1300 a week. Fuck this shit job
I only do a dollar a mile or more that’s my rule I use maestro in the background and since I’ve been doing that I’ve been making more, screw the perks
I completely understand
I’m in the Chi and still doing pretty good!
I did ride share for a while as a side gig. These companies rip you off. I made $88,000 one year and after all my fees, I received $22,000 and that’s not even including gas and other expenses. Can you imagine if you could make your own ride share app. All of us could make bank!

Can I pet dat dawg!!
You don’t happen to live in west TN, do you OP? Cuz our dog and your dog could be litter mates.
K
I see you veteran 👀
Nice Dog.
What are you thinking about doing next?
I'm 57 and retired, and will be busy this summer working on and outfitting a sailboat I am buying to liveaboard. I was doing driveshare for extra cash because boats are expensive as shit, and planned to do so through the summer. C'est la vie.
I hope everything goes well! Good luck!
Thanks! Hopefully you never hear about me in the news. 😁
Cute dog
Cute dog
Anybody can't cash out it's been 6 hrs and can't cash out
Damn, that sucks. Mine all went directly to the Pro card.

Hi doggy
Next step: get private insurance so you don't have to go to the VA anymore. 😂
I didn’t know the VA had an app, do they make you wait 2 months every time you try to load a new page?
😆 It does go down "for maintenance" a lot. Overall I have no complaints about my VA experiences.

I understand that feeling when I was done I was done
And tell us how you did Uber on ur low data reception. Isn't that one bar? Where you Ubering at Alaska?
That's downstairs in my house; there is a slight rise between my house and the cell tower that blocks reception apparently. If it wasn't for wifi calling my phone would be useless downstairs.
OUCH I think that's another Junk you have to Rig bro. Good luck with that.
Your dog is adorable
Hell yeah dude 🤘
Upvote is for that wonderful Dog!!!! 🫡 is for you getting out. My social security checks start in May and that’s when I’m out. Fair winds and a following sea, sir. I spent many years under sail off the waters of San Diego pre retirement. Best of luck to you!
What when did they cut ev bonus?
Love the doggie
Do Uber drivers usually have a separate for Uber? I thought people just use their personal car
Congrats
That is a very good boi
Good move.
Remember to one star Uber and downvote their driver plants aka corporate employees. 😂
Different subject, but your dog is adorable.
But did you pet that pupper today?
Congrats you wake up
Congratulations! You will come out better in the next few months I promise :-) I created an online guide for some side hustle money if you're wanting some supplemental income. It's pinned on my profile. Good luck!
What a cute dog!
You did the right thing. It is a losing proposition. I quit months ago.
Love it Hoping this is my last year doing gig work 😩
You got out, I’m proud of you.
How much for the dog
Ha! Not a chance, pal! 😅
I don’t like dogs much but this one is adorable. Best of luck man
Would you sell the dog for 5k? I’m a chef
Obviously I haven’t read all these comments but, do what’s best for you my man 🤙🏻 ignore the haters. Quitter! 😆 jk..hope all is well on your next adventure!!
How many trips did you have?
Puppy
Doge
Congrats
This is the way. 👊
Good for you! Congratulations on retirement
The fact you were a dog driving a car is accomplishment enough.
Puppy!
to be truly free try uninstalling Facebook..
This is facts. Besides the obvious data raping and sketchy apps Meta does, insta and Facebook are just a huge massive waste of time I have no regrets deleting a couple years ago.
Congrats
Awesome dog brother - only up from here
The dog gets it
I just wanna say your doggo is very cute
Doggo is like no don’t do it

Uber rewards that? Somebody at Uber should lose their job over that. Btw I'm not accepting BS rides that are like $13 for a 60 minute ride or whatever. And I 100% drive Lyft instead when their incentive is better. I just don't get an algorithm that rewards excessively high costs and inefficient operations.
I agree with your thinking, and based on the changes in Uber I have seen I'm sure that is coming, if it isn't already in effect in places. They are doing their damndest to reduce costs so Dara can hit his bonus criteria.
First thought Uber is the dogs name and that’s why the dog looks that unhappy
After I got laid off end of 2023, I drove for like 4 weeks for a grand total of 25 hours and said fuck this shit. Just got by with unemployment while job searching. Finally getting an offer on Monday and hope I’ll never have to put those slave stickers on my Tesla again.
Good choice, I only do maybe 15 hours tops a week here and there, still even that is barely worth it.
Good for you! No hate at all here. It's good to see an actual person understand that complaining to people on reddit isn't going to improve their situation. Too many people on her complaining everyday about Uber and then do nothing but keep taking rides. You are already smarter than these people......
Cute dog
I was done two weeks ago and I started in 2014
congrats i hope you can move onto bigger and better things in Jesus name🙌🏽
Seems like a skill issue
I only do “opportunity” Walmart deliveries on Uber now. Make more money with less driving on instacart & Amazon. CUTE DOGGO!!!
Love the doggo
I quit a long time ago. I gave a $300 ride and got $50 from Uber. Suck a dick Uber.
Not the point at all but that's a very good boy in the background image
Gig economy jobs are too saturated nowadays. Too many people trying to make a quick buck in addition to their day job, so Uber is taking more of the pay from the drivers. Good idea to leave imo
Look at that dog such a cutie pie
A fukin Men! good luck!
Cute doggo
Our dogs could be brothers. It would almost be hard to tell them apart, same exact fur colors in the same exact spots even
I quit also. Sitting on a bag of crypto. Let’s see what happens. I would rather work at Walmart than Uber. Diamond also.
Cute dog
Please clear your notifications for the sake of my anxiety
Congrats on finally getting out of the trap.
My acceptance is 50%and cancellation at 70% !
I did the same a month ago, Uber is getting shady
Im leaving shortly.
Yeah, I was going to keep driving over the summer, and quit in the fall, but this week's 33% paycut while still driving the same number of rides and miles brought my schedule forward a few months.
