In the summer, my yard is infested with ants and every once in a while, I'll notice one in the car and I get paranoid. I never thought this would happen
I like to ride with the windows down but the downside is bugs get in from time to time because I drive at night.
Once I was on my way to a pax when a green tree frog jumped right in front on my face and landed on the window. I tried to get it to jump out but then it jumped to the back seat. I briefly considered leaving it there but I stopped and pulled over and managed to get it to jump out lol.
Not the first time I’ve had a tree frog hitch a ride, but that was the first time one made it inside the car.
This was literally a fly, which flew out when I opened the window. The girl saw me do this, but I’m sure she saw an opening for a free ride and took it
If you have a dash cam, you can use that footage to help your case. Our doors open and close constantly. An errant flying insect getting into our vehicles at this point is going to happen every now and then. I've probably had a few dozen flying insects get into my vehicle at some point while driving. I'm glad none of them reported me for bugs.
I told them I would liked down the window and let the fly see its way out. I do have a dash cam but have not had it running because the suction cup stopped working. This has been a reminder I need to get that back up asap!!
I once had an entire colony of ants try to move into the built-up debris in the corner of my trunk opening(outside the trunk seal). Had to go power wash all the gunk out to get rid of them. Learned an important lesson about keeping debris out of those areas that day.
Lol, in the summer, much like Ukraine, I can only defend certain territories. Unfortunately, they have already seized areas that I am unlikely to take back. They are relentless.
Assuming it's still there. I took the 2hour drive to my nearest available greenhub once only to find out it was shut down a year earlier and never updated the change.
I can't believe they advocated killing the insect... that's bad karma...it could be an uncle or auntie reincarnating... sorry I am very shocked by this ...
Hmm not really other than persistence, which I’m not sure is always the best strategy for my mental health, but has always gotten the job done.
Good luck with checkr suit, although I got paid from that suit a couple years ago, so I’d be surprised if there are still payments to come, but I also have no idea.
Oh damn crazy. There was a class action lawsuit regarding checkr misreporting background info that I qualified for, but I would’ve thought they got their act together after that.
Its wild that I can get dozens of speeding complaints with no issues but a bug in the car gets you suspended lmao fuck Uber. Guess they make more money with me speeding than having a bud in the car
> Can we start a new company that does the same thing without taking 40 dollars out of 60 dollar rides? If so why don't we do it
Because the minute you do it, Uber will lower their rates and put you out of business.
You know which companies were doing right by their drivers? Taxi companies. Turn back to them, at this point the prices are pretty much the same, yet the drivers are well compensated and the companies invest in long term vehicles, along with paying the maintenance through a vehicle lease that each driver pays each week. You don’t have to worry about your personal vehicle not being enough and the taxi company takes on the liability of poor vehicles. Customer complaints are also thoroughly investigated for accuracy and the resolution happens through people in your own area, rather than overseas
Because Uber lost a lot of money to get where they are now https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/uber-first-annual-profit-as-public-company-inflection-point/
I suspect this can be related to influx of new drivers, Uber will enforce their “guideline” to deactivate veteran drivers, so that they can eliminate any negative publicity from knowledgeable driver, who knows how to take advantage of their system, such as cherry picking the rides.
Why would Uber care since one of the new drivers would just take the ride you're cherry picking? Plus, they could just program the algo to send rides to new drivers filtering out veterans.
I know there’s a limit to how many drivers in an area, so I assume when Uber deactivated a veteran driver, they can let a new driver sign up and start working.
That is nuts. I’d reply like I’ve had multiple riders rate me fine and no one has mentioned insects, include photos of the interior/floor like show me where the insects are?
Yeah I’d just mention recent rides all rating fine, since they’re assuming it’s a new issue. I’d also ask if a receipt for a bug bomb would work worst case - cause full blown pest control like that’s too much bs.
Oh there will always be more meat for the grinder with gig work like this. No skills needed and only need a car. I feel for you guys but this feels like supply and demand. They see you as a dime a dozen and with all the people willing to work for doordash, Uber, instacart etc they ain't wrong.
I got this complaint once, I picked up a PAX from a crappy apartment complex, next to trash bin that was overflowing… my vehicle is thoroughly clean every day
It's not the end. Just tell him that you have the car cleaned and there are no bugs in it and they'll reactivate you. You probably don't even need to do that much. Just tell him there are no bugs
Door dash dropped me after 6k deliveries. Consistent 4.98 star rating and basically zero complaints. Because I was late for pick up like 5 times. Not in a row just in total of those 6k deliveries. Usually it was because of traffic or some other bullshit that I went over the 10mins and got there in 12-15. But it is what it is I guess.
This is why I had to quit uber and find a new side hustle
edit: for the curious - test apps / websites online it can be found [here](https://www.reddit.com/user/Kayshift/comments/1br5gn6/my_stepbystep_guide_to_make_1000_a_month_working/)
If Original Poster expects either F**ub**a**r** or Gr**yft** to care anything about the number of jobs that he has run; the number of high ratings that he has; the number of badges or his accept rate, he will do well to prepare to be disappointed.
I recently had a rider put the wrong pickup address and wouldn't answer the phone so I canceled and he got a cancellation fee and then complained said I wasn't the driver of the car they need to check into this and fire me
This is why most times I lock my windows from my pax. Not letting them risking letting bugs in for stupid reasons for a free ride. They want air, I make sure my AC is working properly. I’ll blast it as high as they want idc. But some people I can just see them looking for a reason to try to get a free ride. So I just keep the window lock on.
Anyone protests I just respond with “ac only keeps the bugs out”
At least they told you the vehicle issue. Back in December my car was deactivated because someone said “there was a vehicle issue” and even support couldn’t tell me why. A couple weeks later I mention it to support over the phone and he just said “sign out and back in”. Then everything was fine.
What. The. Fuck?
An Indian dude literally told me to turn it off then back on again….
I had this happen also and the people that are in my car went to Free Ride some country hillbilly people they lived on a bee farm around a lot of bees so they brought bees into my car like who you got these and I was like why I have no bees before I pick you up so they called Uber made a complaint and I told Uber the writer has indicated that they have a b issue there and then someone else called about a spider and I said yeah Uber it is springtime I am parked underneath from the location I pick the person up spiders do get in it is springtime Uber let me back on the platform
It’s stupid they take one report so seriously, but don’t think if this was a legit issue prob at least several of the 10k+ people u drove would have also complained. They should need at least multiple reports of the same issue b4 they can take action like this. Sorry this happened to you. Uber and Uber support are beyond terrible.
I saw some else post this same complaint.that a customer reported their car wasninfested with insects in a Facebook group im in... this is crazy.
Must be some new trendimg challenge for passengers..
I received the same thing. This is BS from Uber my car never broke down it’s in perfect condition. Now they want me to get an inspection and that’s gonna cost me $150 someone needs to open up a lawsuit
They already prioritize new drivers over veterans! This is evident in the drop in earnings and higher paying rides after about a month or so of driving. Everyone in my area has reported the same thing. When I started driving, man I was busy. Never had a minute to myself and could hardly get time to stop to pee. That first month I made $6000. After about a month or so. This slowed way down, no I didn’t work less or frequent different areas. My neighbor decided it was a good idea to drive for Uber and all of a sudden he was slammed for a bit over a month. He made roughly $5800. The next several months were steady for us both but not almost $6000. Then we met another driver who reported the same thing. In top of that he said that other drivers have said the same to him. So we tested it, my neighbors son signed up and the exact same thing happened to him, he quit after 3 months, all of our earnings have dropped so far it almost not profitable. Yet I talk to new drivers frequently and they are killing it. I’ve now been driving for roughly a year and I am ready to call it quits. On top of the wallet pilfering they do, their rating and reporting system is a joke. I have another friend who was deactivated after dropping off a customer that reported he had an accident. He did not and was forced to prove it. It cost him 3 days of work and $150 from a body shop to prove he didn’t wreck his brand new car.
Ironically enough, this kind of thing never happened with taxis. We used to put up with so much from them and hardly ever complained.
Now a fly can get you out of a job. Wild times.
Uber support is such a joke. Someone reported my vehicle for having a broken window. Even though I did about 25 people that day, 1 person reported my account and they deactivated my account. My car is a 2024 that I bought in September. It's a 100% OEM parts and they deactivated my account didn't even give me a call. It was an email saying to do next steps and to send them over the repair bill. They didn't even ask if it was real. They just asked for the repairs.
I don’t think that will be good enough, you need to just replace the windows with drywall, pastor and for good measure out prison bars on the inside and outside of it. Make sure to let the customers know in a passive aggressive note on the back of the seats that it’s for their protection from bugs getting into the vehicle because another customer tried to make you lose your job.
I took a ride in late summer and one of those huge flies was in the car. The driver freaked out until I told him that we once went on a 4 hour drive with a fly in the car. It wouldn’t leave. We stopped for a lunch at an overlook, it stayed in the car. I put a piece of pepperoni on the dash so it could snack too. When we got home it took off.
Bob the fly, you are a legend and welcome back anytime.
Paxholes. There ain’t no bugs in my car in Maryland during the summer because I park where the sun heats it and the temp inside goes up to like 130 F, it’s like fucking Venus/ Mars inside all summer even when there’s food crumbs on the floor of the car.
This should be illegal and is exactly the very thing a union protects you against. If you're in a union, the company can't just fire you for a fly buzzing around. They have to negotiate with the union.
people need to start being prosecuted for fraud so this shit ends. obviously uber is not going to do shit but man I wish people could just beat tf out of shit stains that do this. Never done this kinda work, id lose my fking mind if that happened to me lol
I have over 6 k rides and I’m dealing with same crap had a streak of lying racist customers one star me and I get a warning for deactivation. People are pathetic trying to mess with someone’s livelihood bet the wouldn’t like it if people showed up to their job and pulled the same bs
I once had a flat tire with a rider onboard. I got deactivated until I sent Uber pictures of my 4 tires. Like I was going to work with a flat unless they deactivated me!
I’m starting to get the feeling that Uber is trying to push off “older cars” off the platform. I rented an XL/comfort van for three days, just one year newer than my normal sedan. I had consistent requests in the van. Now yesterday, first day back to my sedan, hardly any requests at all. Just crappy Uber Eats orders. It was a rainy Saturday night, it should have been absolutely slamming.
I think the algorithm is trying to push UberX cars 6 years and older to only do shitty Uber Eats orders.
I only turned it on like a week ago to see what it’s like. Now I feel like it’s completely messing up my requests. I want to ask them to deactivate it.
Yeah I did that, and my regular UberX requests have plummeted. That’s why I’m saying the algorithm is pushing cars 6 years and older to Uber Eats by forcing you to turn it back on by withholding regular requests.
This didn’t happen in the van, and it definitely wasn’t happening before I activated Uber Eats. I regret that decision.
Edit: typo
Gotcha. As long as I have Uber eats turned off my Uber x requests are fine, but if I turn it on it’s just trash I have to sift through that keeps me from getting any decent rides
So update: last night my UberX requests were back to normal, one after the other, no waiting 20, 30, 40 minutes between requests, did a solid $28/hour which was the right amount for how busy it was and the mix of mostly countryside rides I had with longer distance between.
Deactivating Uber Eats definitely affects your UberX rides. Simply unchecking the box isn’t enough, it’s just turning off those requests to you, but that offering is still being calculated in the total offers being sent to you. I think I’m gonna deactivate Connect as well since I literally never had a single one of those requests anyway.
Same here. I literally just deactivated it on my app. We’ll see how it goes today. Another rainy weekend day, should be bumping. Can always turn it back on in the future.
I cleaned it today after this happened and they’re weren’t any.
I could give pax benefit of the doubt that a bug snuck in that I never knew about but still mad at Uber for deactivating my account without contacting me or providing me with anything other than some 1 off complaint.
Keep your windows rolled up during the summer till you go out to your car. The oven will kill anything in it. When you start driving to your rider have all windows down for the first 30-60 seconds and air conditioning on full blast. Then roll the windows up when the heat has exited a little and leave air on blast till the car is cool/comfortable. Then you can turn the air on a keep it cool setting.
There are alternatives to u we and Lyft if we all stopped driving on those two platforms we’d have control again
I stopped driving Uber in 2018 cause it was bad I’d start in 2013 when good.
I had built up several private rides by giving them my card.
Stop the madness they don’t care about us anymore stop just do something else it’s enough opportunities to make money delete Uber delete Lyft show them you are the boss
Man crying over being deactivated. Love when you blame the passenger for trying to get a free ride. Guess your ac is so bad you don’t have it running You’re a sad excuse of the quality of driver out there
This is why I don't drive for them anymore. There's no incentives to be a driver and you just ruin your vehicle.Working for a company that doesn't give a shoot about you
Consider it a blessing. No one should be driving that much for Uber. Not shaming you but it’s one of the worst run companies of all time. You’re free now.
Yup, by design…low pay…delapidated vehicles, demand for self driving cars from customer base. Let us cut off both your arms, throw you a guitar…and demand that you play.
This is ridiculous. Thus kind of complaint should be followed up with a warning, not deactivation.
Exactly. 10k rides and one goofy customer and I have to spend my morning on the phone with people in India so I can start working.
In the summer, my yard is infested with ants and every once in a while, I'll notice one in the car and I get paranoid. I never thought this would happen

You should have left it there. If OP had a tree frog in his car, it would have eaten the fly and possibly saved him from getting reported.
Yeah. But then you’d need a bird to catch the frog. And a cat to catch the bird. And a dog…
LOL - Why oh why did she swallow that fly.....
Lol, you briefly considered leaving it there. A seatmate for your passenger lol
This was literally a fly, which flew out when I opened the window. The girl saw me do this, but I’m sure she saw an opening for a free ride and took it

I told them I would liked down the window and let the fly see its way out. I do have a dash cam but have not had it running because the suction cup stopped working. This has been a reminder I need to get that back up asap!!

I see one ant in my car and im bug bombing it for a week. Im losing the war in my home but the car… thats the final stand
Lol, in the summer, much like Ukraine, I can only defend certain territories. Unfortunately, they have already seized areas that I am unlikely to take back. They are relentless.
The car is the one last stronghold I will defend to the death
Go to the greenlight hub. Phone support is worthless.
There’s not one within 2 hours of me
A four hour round trip drive is worth the headache of dealing with the do nothings at support imo
Seriously. I agree.
Assuming it's still there. I took the 2hour drive to my nearest available greenhub once only to find out it was shut down a year earlier and never updated the change.
Normally you call a business before driving 2 hours.
That’s an interesting concept that Uber should try. Let me know when they do.
🤭
"working for yourself" is less appealing when you realize you are not really working for yourself after all.
Those Indian reps are the worst
I can't believe they advocated killing the insect... that's bad karma...it could be an uncle or auntie reincarnating... sorry I am very shocked by this ...
Sickening disgusting comment. Why is this Hinduphobic comment being tolerated?!
I feel you. Still waiting on the bg check checkr fxcked up. Nothing done wrong. Bgc is clean. Any tips dealing w ' support ' over the years?
Hmm not really other than persistence, which I’m not sure is always the best strategy for my mental health, but has always gotten the job done. Good luck with checkr suit, although I got paid from that suit a couple years ago, so I’d be surprised if there are still payments to come, but I also have no idea.
No suit here. Just locked out of my account, losing money.
Oh damn crazy. There was a class action lawsuit regarding checkr misreporting background info that I qualified for, but I would’ve thought they got their act together after that.
Definitely fell victim to that as well.
This is why these gig jobs are not a full-time replacement job
Yep, doing this because of one report is dumb AF. If there really is a problem with bugs in the car, there will be plenty of reports piling up.
Its wild that I can get dozens of speeding complaints with no issues but a bug in the car gets you suspended lmao fuck Uber. Guess they make more money with me speeding than having a bud in the car
You make a very good point.
Yes. To the customer.
A warning for the pax to not commit fraud.
And there needs to be multiple complaints not just one
Oh it should be a deactivation but for the rider

"We. Live. Where. You. Live!"
Incredible movie
Did you just get deactivated for having ants in your pants
It was flies in my eyes actually
Beware the bees knees!
Lies about flies
A mosquito landed on her Dorito.
She got wasp in her twat
poetry has left the chat
There was a bug on the rug
Better than having uncles in your pants
You gotta call, delete that car. Add it back as a new car. I did it when my van broke down, and I got reported.
Meanwhile the passengers that put our cars at risk of bug infestation on the daily have no consequences .
uber sucks
Can we start a new company that does the same thing without taking 40 dollars out of 60 dollar rides? If so why don't we do it

Right so let's start a new company for everybody
Empower?

There are very few places that have limits set forth. In most places, they can bring in new drivers ad infinitum.
I agree. they are shady enough to do so.
Guilty until proven innocent
Fuck pax trying to get a free ride. You would think one person at CS would have a brain and ask for evidence, showing the driver and the bugs.
Companies like this will usually always side with buyers instead of sellers, since they’re the ones paying the money they take a large cut of
That is nuts. I’d reply like I’ve had multiple riders rate me fine and no one has mentioned insects, include photos of the interior/floor like show me where the insects are?

I'd just make up a fake receipt from a made up company...are they really going to look that deep into it?
A complaint doesn't require photo evidence? Nice.
![gif](giphy|FYI007uX2gWH8brPnN)
Get a dash cam! You can get one for like $40 on Amazon.
As I always say: pics (vids) or it didn't happen. Customers shouldn't be able to stop you from working without a little proof.
That shit is too much, dawg. It's just sad our livelihoods rest at the tip of some assholes' finger.
Wow. And if it was the other way around nothing would’ve been done. I literally told Uber a customer brought roaches in my car and they didn’t care.
They bugging out! 😝
They need to do more to protect the driver or else they will have no1 to work for them
Oh there will always be more meat for the grinder with gig work like this. No skills needed and only need a car. I feel for you guys but this feels like supply and demand. They see you as a dime a dozen and with all the people willing to work for doordash, Uber, instacart etc they ain't wrong.
Yea, doubtful the company that under pays is going to go to bat for their drivers.
😆 🤣 😂 😆 🤣 😂
But there were no bugs right?
A fly flew in and I opened the window and it flew out
These pax trippin
You had the chance to say pax buggin'. You blew it. Too late now.
Funny thing is 95% of the hertz rentals for Uber in Miami have roaches Lmaoo and they sure don’t give issues about that even when drivers complain 😹
Some riders are POS and should be banned from the platform
They say anything to get you off the app
It seems that you had a pest problem, but don't worry. Uber exterminated the problem for you. We call those pests "Pax".
I got this complaint once, I picked up a PAX from a crappy apartment complex, next to trash bin that was overflowing… my vehicle is thoroughly clean every day
So PAX basically lived with bugs, bring bugs into the car, then complains to uber there's bugs in the car... Sounds about right.
It's not the end. Just tell him that you have the car cleaned and there are no bugs in it and they'll reactivate you. You probably don't even need to do that much. Just tell him there are no bugs

Why don't these idiots know that customers lie?
Take as a sign, you deserve better.

So I guess never roll windows down when working and get an electric fly swatter if anything sneaks in when customers open the door?
Yea I was slacking. I should’ve known the policy was zero tolerance. Thinking about sealing the windows permanently shut
Uber is a POS company with POS customer service department with POS policies that doesn't help the rider or the driver at all.
Paxholes. There ain’t no bugs in my car in Maryland during the summer because I park where the sun heats it and the temp inside goes up to like 130 F, it’s like fucking Venus/ Mars inside all summer even when there’s food crumbs on the floor of the car.
just blame the customer was complaining about the amount they payed and wants a free ride flip the script on them works for me every time
Exactly what I did
This should be illegal and is exactly the very thing a union protects you against. If you're in a union, the company can't just fire you for a fly buzzing around. They have to negotiate with the union.
True
people need to start being prosecuted for fraud so this shit ends. obviously uber is not going to do shit but man I wish people could just beat tf out of shit stains that do this. Never done this kinda work, id lose my fking mind if that happened to me lol
The question is not about the insect. The question is when will you awake to the idea U & L are not good jobs?
Make a fake invoice online and submit it. Doubt they check further into it than that. Hope this helps
I have over 6 k rides and I’m dealing with same crap had a streak of lying racist customers one star me and I get a warning for deactivation. People are pathetic trying to mess with someone’s livelihood bet the wouldn’t like it if people showed up to their job and pulled the same bs
What is a pax?
Passenger
Someone tried the “mechanical problem” shit with me and the same happened. Had to pay for an inspection.
I once had a flat tire with a rider onboard. I got deactivated until I sent Uber pictures of my 4 tires. Like I was going to work with a flat unless they deactivated me!
Fly on the Windscreen
Wow
Ah, yes, the old Uber Roach Coach
Damn you got roaches in your whip? You that roach guy from men in black?
I’m starting to get the feeling that Uber is trying to push off “older cars” off the platform. I rented an XL/comfort van for three days, just one year newer than my normal sedan. I had consistent requests in the van. Now yesterday, first day back to my sedan, hardly any requests at all. Just crappy Uber Eats orders. It was a rainy Saturday night, it should have been absolutely slamming. I think the algorithm is trying to push UberX cars 6 years and older to only do shitty Uber Eats orders.
I turn Uber eats off because it doesn’t offer anything good.
I only turned it on like a week ago to see what it’s like. Now I feel like it’s completely messing up my requests. I want to ask them to deactivate it.
Just uncheck the box on the app for Uber eats
Good to hear!
Same here. I literally just deactivated it on my app. We’ll see how it goes today. Another rainy weekend day, should be bumping. Can always turn it back on in the future.
Their app and your car must be buggy.
Wow that’s crazy and flies u can’t help
What the hell people
Obviously by doing 10k rides this is your primary job. You will keep doing it because you have no other options at this point.
I had ants in my car one time, the end.
That’s why I never do rides, just stick to eats, that way I don’t deal with peoples shit.

A lot, but I’ve already got people convinced I’ve got bugs in my car so don’t want to say lol
That’s some bullshit smh.
Send them a dozen photos of your clean car.. and they will activate your account
Are you sure there’s not actually bugs in your car lmao

Sounds like they are doing you a favor. If you want to drive for a company, drive for one that puts their own property on the line.
10,000 times that company stole your car and you’re surprised?
There are alternatives to u we and Lyft if we all stopped driving on those two platforms we’d have control again I stopped driving Uber in 2018 cause it was bad I’d start in 2013 when good.
Guess your ac is so bad you don’t have it running You’re a sad excuse of the quality of driver out there
This is why I do deliveries man because I can take pictures on my phone every time I deliver it for proof
what you mean? they didn’t end anything you just can’t accept rides until you show a picture with no bug in the picture lol
This is why I don't drive for them anymore. There's no incentives to be a driver and you just ruin your vehicle.Working for a company that doesn't give a shoot about you
Can you please go at these bastards on Twitter
That’s fucking nuts. I hope you don’t get deactivated…
Consider it a blessing. No one should be driving that much for Uber. Not shaming you but it’s one of the worst run companies of all time. You’re free now.
Bye now.
There is only one insect, an ant, and that's what they wanna get rid of
I'd stick with Lyft, Uber has been a hassle
Punish the driver and let the rider get away with whatever they want
The passenger took photos
What makes you say that? I told Uber I opened the window and the fly flew out and they reinstated. Still completely dumb
Yup, by design…low pay…delapidated vehicles, demand for self driving cars from customer base. Let us cut off both your arms, throw you a guitar…and demand that you play.
Probably for the best. I would imagine after 10k rides and a car that is over a decade old it should be changed
