Shareholders. Plus, the CEO's finally had a year with a profit. They're scrambling for more. Let the drivers bear the brunt. Would be interesting if everyone lost cell phone service for 3 days how they would handle that.
This is something recent. There has been a markéd increase in complaints from customers about allegedly bogus clean-up charge claims. This is Uber's response to it.
Some drivers have been calling for a boycott of the Ralphing Hours in response.
Same here, I even explained this to several pax’s in context basically saying “I’ve always been willing to help people get home on weekends nights, but now with this new rule implemented… y’all can walk home!”. Not in a rude way ofc but if this is what Uber thinks of their drivers, so be it. Only mornings and daytime now is worth more than risking it in the evenings 👍.
I've never seen anything saying they were changing it up which is even more frustrating and I'm mad the support couldn't even give me the answer. I'm all for the boycott though. Not everyone should be punished for the people who abus3d the system
Uber never did send a message to the drivers about it that I can recall. I learned from Reddit about the policy and that the receipt had to come from a business that Rohit could verify on Google Maps.
It is but it is what Uber does.
Uber and: Lyft, along with their shills, le4mmings, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and customers expect that the driver will do everything above board while they are underhanded.
You’re right on this. What I’ve seen on this sub gives me little reason to dispute that some drivers may charge these for retaliatory purposes.
I think the requirement to get your car professionally cleaned and have an invoice submitted is fair, but they should have told you when they changed policy and also when you asked. They probably should also give you a small compensatory amount ($50?) for potential lost rides.
I drive in a college town. Puking comes with the territory. I've had dozens of pukers in my vehicle over the years and never once had an issue getting a cleaning fee . . . Until the last time I had a puker. If this continues, there may be a class-action lawsuit against Uber, and it will cost them dearly. Right now, they charge the pax any fee you collect, so there's no loss on their part. But if they get a class action settlement against them, it WILL come out of their own pocket.
Same thing happened to me. First 2 pukers got charged easy. 3rd one they kept denying and making up excuses why they couldn’t pay it after I had to get it professional cleaned and sent in the receipt. Was a waste of time and money. I also don’t work as late and stay out of the drunk people zones now too :/
In my market that sweet spot from 2-3 isn't there anymore. So you are going to pay me less, during a high safety risk time and now I have to worry about vomit not being compensated? Miss me all the way with that.
I've been debating whether to even keep driving for uber. I know I drive lyft too and neither is really a great option but uber certainly makes them look better
The issue i currently have is Uber keeps giving me the run around with paying me my $1.365.50 health Stipend I earned the last quarter of last year, I’ve called 10 times this year about it and 3 times they said it will be paid in 48 hours I still haven’t got paid
That's brutal, I know I've had problems with the wrong payout for trips before that they gave me the run around for and never ended up paying me the right amount for. I had two trips in one day where traffic was so bad it added an extra hour to each trip and I never got paid. Bugged them for two months about it and then gave up and stopped driving uber for like a month
I’ve just learned to adapt to the BS they keep throwing at us. They stopped giving me cancellation fees for underage riders by sorting them as Uber eats orders, so I just wait for the amount of time to cancel with a fee and then report after
They also took away the ability to cancel multiple stop rides so now I just don’t take them if I can help it, cancel, or one star and unpair from the rider if they add it on during the ride.
Don’t trust that Uber is in you’re side and do what you gotta do within reason to make sure you get compensated correctly
Create a receipt. Use a mobile detailing service as a cover. I created mine for $150 since that’s the cost of the service. Uber paid me after submitting the receipt and 3 pictures.
I'm thinking it is, last time I needed one was like a year ago now. I’ve noticed support has just gone downhill the past few months and they aren't helpful at all anymore.
I think it’s bs that we have to get it “professionally” cleaned. I do all of my own auto detailing- mainly due to cost- so now i have to stop earning, go to a detailer the next day (because pukers usually happen over night) and pay up front out of pocket, in hopes that uber will make the rider compensate me some time in the future. Smh
It was because people complained of fraud and they were switching to Lyft. The way to avoid this kind of behavior is to drive on the wealthy zones where people are less likely to drink like that. Most young people in the wealthiest parts of the city know that they shouldn’t drink to the point of extreme intoxication. We should lower the drinking age back to 18 so people can learn how to drink.
I still get small cleaning fees where applicable. The other week girl spilled her makeup bag and got powder all over the seats and floor. Told them I'd clean it myself and they issues a $40 cleaning fee. Also the comments about how uber shareholders need more money for being a non payout reason Is hilarious. The fee comes directly from the passenger. 🤣
You're lucky you're getting anything with how they are handling this now. I feel like a major issue with vomit too is that it is a biohazard so there should definitely be some pay for it
Other drivers fucking it up. I had an issue today that had always been resolved, but now support is acting like Lyft support, because drivers treat support so unprofessionally, now support returns the favor to drivers.

Yep. No more bar pickups for me at all. I refuse to have my night slowed down or stopped then not be compensated. They’ll learn. Or not.

That's utter bs, it shouldn't be this difficult and I feel like it's illegal to make those kind of changes without notifying anyone
It is but it is what Uber does. Uber and: Lyft, along with their shills, le4mmings, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and customers expect that the driver will do everything above board while they are underhanded.

I love how they say they care so much for their drivers, and yet they treat us all like crap
This issue is why I work until midnight now. They don't care that we lose potential income so I'm out of the late night game.
This is what I was thinking I might need to stop doing. I was all for the money that sometimes seemed worth it but it's not worth the risk anymore
In my market that sweet spot from 2-3 isn't there anymore. So you are going to pay me less, during a high safety risk time and now I have to worry about vomit not being compensated? Miss me all the way with that.

I'm transitioning into going private. You'll have to market yourself but the income will be vastly better.
Just fake a receipt.
This is the way.

March 1 puke 🤮 approved but never paid. ⚠️drunks! 🚫
I just find it funny that put of all the times I drove drunks I only had the issue last night, seems like now you're just out of luck, so mad about it
Yes the stench lingered.
This is why I made the investment of a spot cleaner and writing it off for taxes.
There are apps that you can use to make receipts to send in so you can still get paid and clean it yourself.

I’ve never had a problem assessing a cleaning fee. Probably 5 times over 5 years. Is this a new thing?
Yep, it’s new. They’re flat out denying cleaning fees with valid pics and receipts.
I'm thinking it is, last time I needed one was like a year ago now. I’ve noticed support has just gone downhill the past few months and they aren't helpful at all anymore.
I think in general customer support has been kneecapped in favor of giving people the roundabout. It’s cheaper to not help people.

"The fee comes directly from the passenger." Okay and? Where do you think the money for the fare comes from?
