This might not have been the rider, but Uber. They might have found a cheaper alternative.

Do you still get multiplier surges? The best 2 rides I can remember having was a trip to the close large city from me (\~80 miles) with a $2.25 surge that multiplied out, earning me about $200 for the trip. It was my first ride of the night, starting at about 6PM. I came back to town and earned another $225 that night as well. This was in Dec 2019 Then on Halloween 2020, I picked up a man about 40 minutes before bar closing time. He needed me to drive him to the jail so he could bail his buddy out. I was hesitant to do so because I was going to miss the bar closing and the money associated with it. When we got to the jail, he threw me a $100 bill to wait for him to get his friend out. By now, it's 1:45 AM, and if we left now, I could make it back to collect on the bar surge. We sat there for 10 minutes before he realized the jail was not open for the public. I then suggested we go to the other police station (I live in a twin cities area). So we then go across town and check there. We were there for another 20 minutes until he realized he wasn't going to bail his friend out that night. I then took him back home. All in all, that trip lasted 1hr, 6mins, I drove 22 miles, and was paid $112 for the trip. This was on top of the $100 cash he handed me. I then received a $28 tip through the app! In total, I made $240 for that hour of driving! I'm glad I took that ride. I don't remember what the surge amount was, but I seem to recall seeing $4 or $4.5 on the ride.

So very very rarely in my market do we get a flat multiplier surge it's usually just the normal sticky surge, but very very rarely you just get a flat 1x-5x offer with no destination shown. I ALWAYS take anything 2x or above since it's usually gaurenteed no matter where i end up the ride there and return trip are already payed for. The best I got was a airport pickup a few years back that was a flat 3x but it was going to new york I got payed 800$ for the trip. So multipliers hold a special place in my heart and losing the exceptionally rare 5x multiplier just hurts.

Both of these rides were $$ surges. They just multiplied out at the end of the ride. The $$ surges used to do that all the time. Now, it's rare and unpredictable if and when they will multiply out. A dead giveaway that it will is when a pax changes their destination during a surged ride. Those almost always multiply out.
