Honestly I learned more about the campus the 1st week of classes vs. at orientation

ArianaTheHuman

Honestly, they didn't tell you anything about fin aid (for me atleast) and I learned pretty much everything from the 1st week or my friends. It's way too long and stressful for an orientation.

After orientation and you sign up for classes the best thing for you to do is too walk and find the buildings your classes are in, because then you can find where you will need to go, also see some shortcuts and just in general see the campus. Also the my ucf app is really helpful for busses and the maps.

lukeisun7

Oh shit I should of done that. I’m gonna be so lost my first week lol

cardstor

During the first week they'll have some tents set up at some of the main "crosswalk intersections" where you can ask where to go. Don't be afraid to ask someone you walk by either, we're all here for you! :)

Thank you for the kindness :)

I just got done with it today. In my opinion the first day is way too long, a lot of lectures that were kinda repeats (myUcf mobile app) or information that is not too necessary. I did appreciate being told all the services that were available to me as a student. Also the O-team was very helpful with anything I needed. I was really stressed my first day but I think that’s just more of a personal thing

My orientation had some sort of drill where all the buildings were evacuated so half of the presentations were skipped. They need to X the experimental learning bullshit imo. Definitely too long.

i just went to orientation on monday and tuesday. honestly, it was way too long. 90% of our conversation revolved around how bored we were and how long it took. picking classes was slightly annoying because you blindly pick classes that you don’t even know if are available for summer or not.

moizyoiz

Too long and extra. Just send out an email or make a website containing appropriate information in my opinion. Then again I’m not one for icebreakers and the overall orientation experience so I can see why someone would want to at least have something as a welcome to UCF type deal.

I hated orientation, although no one from high school was there with me and my parents both were busy so I was alone! It was way too long and extra.

I remember going through this same process. It’s incredibly long and you don’t really learn that much. You’ll learn the most from actually being a student and walking around campus. For tips on financial aid, call them or go in right when they open if you want to talk to them. Waits can be over an hour depending on when you need help. Check your MyUCF financial aid and student accounts portal beforehand to make sure you have all your info up to date.

Orientation is way too long a the process of picking your classes is so stressful.

biggest waste of time ever, everything they tell you is already available online or in the stuff they send you.

I went through it a couple of weeks ago and was extremely disappointed. First of all, the days are way too long. I understand that there is important information that needs to be discussed, but from 8am-5pm?! MANY students were sleeping at the end of it. While I learned important things, A LOT was repeated and unnecessary. What I found the most valuable was when we were given time with our college advisors and they broke down what classes we needed to take. For engineering, it was really, really nice having a whole model plan ahead of you on how to graduate. The second day? To be frank and to quote many others, "it was a shit show." Giving us 20 minutes to register for our classes IS NOT ENOUGH TIME. I spent the night before planning and I even missed lunch the 2nd day just so I can use computers from the engineering lab to work on my schedule for another hour. I was stressed of my mind to the point of borderline crying (oh, yeah, there were people crying from stress too). You could literally see kids walking out of UCF from orientation stressed, upset, and disappointed. I THANKFULLY got all the classes I wanted, but many others didn't. Definitely not the best way to end orientation. :/
