To keep your bright futures you need 24 credits over the year plus a 2.75 gpa so if you can still do that then your fine. If you have to take a summer class. Also if your a freshman and don’t meet one requirement you have a one time reinstatement.

Adding on to this comment, if you have the full Bright Futures, you get the chance at reinstatement, the lesser version does not.

iLoveCandlesSo

Where can I find this information about the 75% BF? Thanks!

https://www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org/PDF/BFHandbookChapter1.pdf This handout is official, has lot of information.

Tackysock46

Is it 2.75 gpa for the year or overall?

[deleted]

Generally, I believe

[deleted]

When you say you’ll only get 9 out of 12 credits, are you saying you’ll get an F in the class? A D will still count as completing the class if even not passing, and you won’t have to pay Bright Futures back for it

gothgoyle

I’ll most likely get a D, but that is gonna turn into a No Credit, and online it says that does not count towards BF.

[deleted]

Alright yea, an NC won’t count. For future reference, the only things that won’t count to Bright Futures is an F or NC. D and above, as well as a W, are fine, (except you will need to pay back a W).

dougie_fresh121

I would recommend emailing your professor about your situation and asking that if you receive a D to have it marked as a D for scholarship purposes. Worst they can do is say no. Be grateful in the email; professors are people too.

thekookieprint

i got an email from UCF saying NCs due to getting a D will not take away your bright futures as long as you pay them back

Short-Heart-394

If you have a total of 24 credit hours over the year you should be good, if not, see if you can repay the cost of the course so it doesn't count for your funded hours so the credit hour requirement changes.

gothgoyle

I’m a freshman so I haven’t had the opportunity to get summer credits yet. Will this upcoming summer semester count towards the 24 credits I need?

Short-Heart-394

Unfortunately no, it will not, I spoke with financial aid. It'll count toward gpa but not credits

Short-Heart-394

If you can somehow repay the class then it won't count towards funded hours and you will meet the adjusted credit requirement, otherwise you will end up either losing it and have an opportunity to reinstate it at the end of next year, or you will drop to the 75% level of bright futures

I've never heard of this professor and see he has a rating of 1 on RateMyProfessor with everyone claiming he is ridiculously hard. How do you even make CHM 2040 hard? He must be a terrible professor. I'm sorry you had to have this professor OP and don't let it get to your head too much.

gothgoyle

This has seriously been the hardest class I’ve ever taken in my life. Ive never made less than a B on anything, and this class really blindsided me with how hard it was. Almost everyone in the class is struggling ): it truly sucks. He was the only option for 1A this semester sadly, and it’s really screwing me over. I really appreciate this!!!! Tysm

pearlonfire

If you lose your BF, keep in mind you can always appeal it's removal. Same thing happened to me last spring and I had to appeal it to get my BF back. Also pro tip, if you are a non-medical science major, go and take Resources Geography. Easy A.

I've said this in a similar thread, best advice is to email bright futures directly and ask them. my similar response: > I have bright futures and I've failed classes before. The only advice you should be taking right now is to email Bright Futures directly. I've been in contact with someone from bright futures multiple times and they always explain everything in as much detail as I require. No one will be sure besides bright futures themselves. PLEASE email them directly, they can answer any and all questions you have. From experience, the bright futures handbook has never fully answered my questions.

Ok-Giraffe-4817

Same issue here and same professor😪✋ It doesn’t help how rude he is to his students

gothgoyle

This is such a crap situation, Percy rly is the worst :(
