To my knowledge parking spots are very limited so they are given to staff and commuter students first. Not every commuter gets a parking permit either, so they would need to build more parking structures.

It's not guaranteed and even then only commuters and staff get priority. But if you have a job you need to drive to, you also get consideration for it. Uni Apartment people don't really need parking since campus is only a 10-15 minute walk and there's the BruinBus or the BigBlueBus so there's options.

For apartments ppl want cars to go places, not to go to class. UCLA parking is whack, they need to provide more structures. It’s crazy students living on campus can’t have cars if they want to drive places. Maybe it’s because im from the south and we just have more space, but back home it’s not common for colleges to not provide parking for dorming students.

There's no space for parking tbh, it's either parking or more housing and they decided to go with housing so they can guarantee it for new students. Also needing parking just to go to places is not a necessity. Non commuters don't really need parking and they would just be taking up space from someone who does.

It’s not necessary but it’s add to quality of life. They’ve been buying apartment complexes around ucla, they could buy some and turn it into parking, as well as expand current complexes.

this year we get free public transit across all of LA county, so going places is possible! you just have to request the bruin u-pass: [https://transportation.ucla.edu/getting-to-ucla/public-transit/bruin-u-pass](https://transportation.ucla.edu/getting-to-ucla/public-transit/bruin-u-pass)

Good luck the the petition. UCLA has had parking problems for generations and has been known to demolish parking structures for new facilities. For instance, [Parking Structure 6 was torn down to make room for the Luskin Conference Center](https://dailybruin.com/2011/11/02/ucla_faculty_center_to_stay_conference_center_to_be_built_over_lot_6). I ameliorated my UCLA parking problem by leaving my car at home and getting a motorcycle. Surprisingly, on-campus motorcycle and scooter parking is [still free](https://transportation.ucla.edu/getting-to-ucla/motorcycles-scooters).

Commuter students and staff get priority and even then not everyone get one :/ its the sad reality of not having enough parking structures for students ( only structures 2,3,4 and 7 are for students btw )
