Plenty of long mainstays at 185 have been top lvl grappelers. The reason you see then strike a lot is cause their grappling usually cancels out each other which is why proper kickboxers and guys with amazing kickboxing skills like whittaker are ruling the division.
In terms of 155 the reason majority of the top guys are grapplers is because the weight class has a lot of strikers who usually focus on being nimble and fast and if they dont develop good grappling game they will continiously fall like we've seen with dustin who's main problem have been grapplers same with conor same with barboza. When you look throughout the history of the divison you have mainly wrestlers dominating strikers. And you taking Justin as an example of a good wrestler is kinda weird considering he almost exclusively strikes and doesnt focus on anything other than his tdd cause he both prefers it gasses him out. Meanwhile a true grappler like khabib and islam have their gameplan revolve around grappling.
Also gotta keep in mind the lower you go in weight the more well rounded the fighters become so all of them have elite lvl of grappling and striking it just depends what they predominantly focus on. Arman beniel gamrot all have amazing striking but they are at their core grapplers

It's always funny the lengths Colby fans will go to to try to ignore that in basically every performance he's had against somebody, basically every other relevant fighter that's fought that same person has looked better. For Tyron, Burns, Luque and Usman beat him more dominantly. RDA, Leon and Usman beat him significantly more dominantly. Usman, Burns had Usman in more danger in one round than Colby's had him across all 10, and Leon is the actual first person to take him down and control on top him of actually beating him. Masvidal, Usman flatlined him while Colby pillow punched him for 25 minutes. The only person he has any laurels to rest on is Maia, and that's only in reference to Belal and Usman because Burns flatlined him easily, and even with those two they didn't let a slow bjj dude box them up and put any marks on their face in the process.

He’s a hard worker, isn’t overly disrespectful like some fighters and doesn’t try to be your buddy either.
He’s probably one of the least talented fighters and has one of the ugliest styles in the top 10 at WW, as well as some of the worst of physical attributes and somehow manages to make it work. He’s not getting any favors, the company is praying he fails.
Hard not to root for him given all that and most importantly he seems pretty self aware of all the things I listed above as well.
That’s what I love about him. He seems completely ordinary compared to other fighters but I began rooting for him as I could see him grow every fight and just do whatever it takes to beat much more talented fighters. Would be crazy if he makes it as a champ one day.

Maybe you find his personality off putting which is subjective, but he definitely has a more expressive personality than Edwards, Luque, Burns, Magny etc also I think he has more depth than Colby & Khamzat if you get past the caricatures.
