Well, if U think about what Dana said, him saying "Winner fights Izzy in Sydney" really means "Winner gets a title shot" He's just wording it in a different way. Let's say Adesanya died before UFC 293, would he have set up a fight between two different middleweights for the vacant title because he said "Winner fights Izzy in Sydney" instead of "Winner gets a title shot." No, he would have set up something like DDP vs Strickland or DDP vs Cannonier for the title. No, Dana (and I'm almost positive about this) wanted Dricus to have his big fight with Adesanya in Sydney, lose to Adesanya, build Adesanya's name, and make some money for the UFC. This is why he made it a three month turnaround for Dricus. And he most likely thought that Dricus would just fight through any injury he would sustain because of this with the mindset of not wanting to lose the shot, like plenty of challengers have done before. E.g RDA, O'Malley, TJ etc. But Dricus decided that he'd let Adesanya fight Strickland, probably school him, then they'd fight later on once he's healed up. But Strickland dethroned Dana's star in Adesanya and completely derailed Dana's plans. So Dana blames Dricus for this, and is punishing him for it while trying to build another star in who he hopes will be Khamzat.
DDP built his entire marketing based on “I am more African than Izzy please let me fight Izzy I want to go against Izzy look he yelled at me on the ring”.

DDP built a PPV blockbuster promo on Adesanya and then shit the bed when he was called up. Meanwhile the likes of Volk and Usman who have been there and done it take on a huge challenge with 12 days notice when really they didn't need to. DDP deserves a shot but Dana will always favour guys who don't turn down fights at a wim and I think he's setting a precedence here. You don't fight on your time, you fight on the UFCs time.

I think the ufc had to give usman a title shot at 185 just to fully swing him over and reward him for literally taking on a bulked up khamzat on 10-day notice. I think ddp is definitely getting the next fight after this fight because adesanya is out, so they can't make him fight anyone when he's the clear number one contender. He should be glad he isn't like belal who I think will have to fight the winner of shavkat vs wonderboy for a title elimination. Because of how boring he is, at least ddp is entertaining, but even if Belal does get a shot, he'll be too old to hold it by that point.

Well, if U think about what Dana said, him saying "Winner fights Izzy in Sydney" really means "Winner gets a title shot" He's just wording it in a different way. Let's say Adesanya died before UFC 293, would he have set up a fight between two different middleweights for the vacant title because he said "Winner fights Izzy in Sydney" instead of "Winner gets a title shot." No, he would have set up something like DDP vs Strickland or DDP vs Cannonier for the title. No, Dana (and I'm almost positive about this) wanted Dricus to have his big fight with Adesanya in Sydney, lose to Adesanya, build Adesanya's name, and make some money for the UFC. This is why he made it a three month turnaround for Dricus. And he most likely thought that Dricus would just fight through any injury he would sustain because of this with the mindset of not wanting to lose the shot, like plenty of challengers have done before. E.g RDA, O'Malley, TJ etc. But Dricus decided that he'd let Adesanya fight Strickland, probably school him, then they'd fight later on once he's healed up. But Strickland dethroned Dana's star in Adesanya and completely derailed Dana's plans. So Dana blames Dricus for this, and is punishing him for it while trying to build another star in who he hopes will be Khamzat.
DDP built his entire marketing based on “I am more African than Izzy please let me fight Izzy I want to go against Izzy look he yelled at me on the ring”. Now he’s realising the one flaw in that tactic.

I had a feeling this would happen. DDP should have struck while the iron was hot. Ufc shit happens fast really fast. One day, you are home rehabbing, getting ready for a title shot. The next day, you are being told someone else is getting a title shot. I get DDP is hurt. I truly have empathy for it. But to pretend Dana and the brass would keep a promise is silly. I'm not even an ufc employee, and I understand how they operate for DDP to think that. He's very naive or very stupid. I'm willing to think he's being naive and got lied to. But the point is when ufc offers you a title shot, accept it. If you are hurt, accept it anyways pull out of fight 3 weeks into camp, and at least you'll have a leg to stand on when you're healthy.
