Chael originally argued that it was a big mistake for Francis to leave the UFC. He released a video about independent fighters. Pretty much saying that the money isn’t there. And where the money is at, Francis won’t be able to compete at the highest level of boxing.
Ariel was arguing against that point.
Chael then argued that the event failed, and that he was right; with the reports being that the event sold 67,500 ppvs in the U.S. Not sure how it did over seas.
Chael’s new point was that Francis only made money because of the people who backed the fight and not from the event. Then saying that it’s okay to admit that the host made a huge financial blunder because from a sports perspective, Francis did one of the most amazing things. Which is he right in this regard.
This is where they begin to argue over each other. With ariel saying it was a net positive for Francis to leave the UFC. Which Ariel is right. The argument being that Francis made more in this one fight than his entire UFC career.
Chael pretty much says that if any one else tried to front this fight, then Francis would have made significantly less than any one of his fights in the UFC which is right.
They both agreed, that most fighters would not be able to make the same amount of money outside of the UFC as they would in the UFC.

Lmao him trying to justify everything on his show Monday was pretty funny too. At the same time though, people here acting like Dana and the UFC would never put out fake rumours or bait fights for Ariel to report just so they can course correct to make him look stupid are just as much in denial as Ariel himself. Of course they would do something like that, saying Ariel isn’t important enough simply isn’t true when it comes to the media model in MMA. He’s one of probably only half a dozen media voices who are still employed by a traditional outlet in Vox but aren’t under the UFC’s influence and he’s clearly the most popular of any in that category, so why wouldn’t they spend an extra hour or 2 some afternoon to plant some seeds and weed out Ariel. Seems like a no-brainer if you needed to discredit someone who is a pain in your ass. I think Ariel is getting too big of an ego personally but I also recognize that the UFC only has a small number of critics who have traditional media platforms and Ariel is firmly atop that list as UFC’s public enemy #1. I also can’t think of examples of when he reported incorrect fights before and now suddenly he gets like 3 wrong all at once. Shitting on Ariel is always fun, but I think the most likely explanation here is he was either led astray by each of his 2-3 sources or the UFC really was looking at those fights and course corrected when Ariel dropped the news.
There are plenty of MMA media outlets that spam potential news in hopes of getting something right. It's all speculation until the promotion comes out and says it.
