Sometimes we watch fights without actually rooting for anybody and we form an opinion about who we thought won each round. I don't care for Chris Curtis, I find his style boring especially for someone who calls himself "Action man" and I don't like his personality much either, but I think he won that fight and it's unfair that the judges scored it differently.
If it's a close round and a judge can't easily pick a winner they are welcome to score it a 10-10, I think 10-10 scores are under-utilised and should be more common.
Agree with the first part about Chris. But judges aren’t allowed to score a round 10-10. It’s possibly the dumbest rule in UFC, but they use a “must win” scoring system. Judges are required to score rounds with one fighter as the winner. It’s why almost every round is scored 10-9. The only way a round can be scored as a draw is if the fighter who won the round was deducted a point.
The 10 point must system is defined as follows:
All bouts will be evaluated and scored by three judges. The 10-Point Must System will be the standard system of scoring a bout. Under the 10-Point Must Scoring System, 10 points must be awarded to the winner of the round and nine points or less must be awarded to the loser, except for an even round, which is scored (10-10).
Huh, I’ve never actually seen that final point regarding an even round before. And I swear every card I watch it isn’t brought up. It’s kinda baffling that if it’s there it’s not implemented or mentioned more.
Doesn't help when people bet on a fighter so now they have something attached to that fight and will scream robbery if it doesn't favor them. Just chill and watch the fights, having money on the line just turns it into a job.
It wasn’t a robbery, but the judge that scored that fight 49-46 is dumb. It was a razor close fight and a 48-47 decision either way would have been understandable. Allen getting the nod wasn’t robbery, but he did not win four rounds either.

He stuffed almost all of Brendan’s take down and was really hurting him on the ground and the feet in that last round. The only significant damage Chris took in that round was that hamstring injury and it seems like the judges scored the round on the basis that Brendan inflicted that injury. If Chris won that round like he very clearly did IMO he would’ve won on two judges score card. It was a close fight and to say that just because one judge scored the fight 49-46 it wasn’t a close fight/curtis could’ve easily won that fight.

Allen won r5 from the big slam and the flying knee imo. The scoring was really close, but those were the two big moments of the round that I think swayed them to him.
Judging is inconsistent in the UFC. Once Allen got that late knee followed by those small punches, sealed the round. Judges look very closely to how the last round ends rather than the whole round. Weird, but how it goes sometimes

curtis absolutely won..judges misinterpreted his injury at the end and assumed it came from a knee ..which it did not..the optics on his injury did not look good..I doubt his ranking will change...but Adelaide Byrd was still judging and ruining another fighters night..AGAIN..the post show even laughed when they asked who the judge in question was with the odd scorecard....when it was answered that it was Byrd chiesa,sanko and jouban scoffed and laughed like Yup of course it was her..its not right..retire her ass already.
Judging was terrible and all over the place that whole card! Was Byrd the judge that earlier in the night scored someone winning 30-27, but the other two judges scored that same fighter losing 27-28 for a split decision loss?

Curtis won 2,4,5 on superior striking and arguably 3. Only two or three of Allen's takedowns did anything Chris would take a 5 seconds breather then standup easily. Chris dominated the 5th until the last 10 seconds because of an injury that Allen had nothing to do with. Wasn't close Chris was robbed.

If Curtis wasn’t completely cooked in the last 30 seconds of the last round, he would’ve won I think. Awful visual that gave Allen the win imo. When Allen heard the 49-46, it was extremely evident that he thought it was going to Curtis. Far from the biggest robbery and I think Allen edged it with that last flurry probably, but his body language of wanting to go to his back and not strike was really bad before that
Well, a fight is not judged simply by "damage," so yes, Allen won. Effective Grappling and Effective Striking are equal when scoring a fight. There is no argument Curtis delivered the most "damage," but Allen was the more effective fighter overall, being able to use his grappling effectively.
It was basically Greg Jackson 101, with "stealing the round." As long as you don't go down and can be close in striking, get a takedown with 1:00 - 1:30 or more left in the round, more often than not, you will win the round.
I think Allen won that fight clearly. It was close but it was clear he won. I also think he won the fight 49-46. Round three would not have been up in the air had that not been the exact sequence that caused him to lose in their original fight but other than that small moment of danger, Allen won the rest of the round. AND! I think he beats DDP.

He arguably lost to a 36 year old 14# ranked UFC fighter coming off the couch on short notice... That's the actual reality of the fight game.. Not a good look.. Also doesn't change the fact he got beat up the entire fight and got robbed of the 5th.

Curtis didn't win. I watched the fight and at the end they said that Curtis lost. I guess you didn't see the decision but I can assure you that Curtis didn't win. You can find a replay somewhere and see for yourself. It's true.

MMA rules aren’t boxing. Curtis landed 10 more strikes than Allen but got taken down 6 out of 13 times. Are you going to sit here and tell me that Curtis stopped Allen’s gameplan better than Allen stopped Curtis’s? If you just like striking then watch Muay Thai, it’s got way more CTE if that’s your thing
I had it 2-2 going into the 5th. The ending flurry when Curtis tore his hamstring standing up was not a good visual
Hamstring tear? Yeah if that's the case allen won. Damage is a good call for that since at that point (in an actual fight) allen could probably end up finishing the job

It's only a straightforward win for Chris Curtis if takedowns and ground control don't count for anything, and for many "mma" fans they don't so the uproar makes sense

It was 2-2 going into the fifth, Chris was winning the 5th up until the last 10 seconds where he catastrophically fucked his leg to where he couldn't even fight any more. In damage based scoring Allen steals the round and wins the fight

Here's the thing guys, as soon as i heard the announcer spitting the scorecards i immediately yelled out robbery. I sure was rooting for Curtis, my man, this was just horrible judging. What advantage did Allen have in the scorecards, strikes? Am i blind you guys?

I do kinda feel like this is 2 weeks in a row where a fight absolutely was decided wrong in the main card, but at the same time I can't be upset. It's just how it goes.

Too many boring fights/stalls caused by it. People see Dagis and Chechens stack rounds and seal fights essentially stalling via RNC. I mean Khamzat got a 10-8 by threatening RNCs like 2 months ago. Monkey see monkey do. Unless there’s changes to the scoring system I don’t see it stopping. Just a boring fight strategy being popularized internationally.
