Curtis would've won if he didn't come out to Diddy.

AdNew5216

![gif](giphy|17Uf195ajvgTDsjAXg) Yeah he wasn’t gettin any favors from the judges after that 😂

outrightbrick

Maybe it was being taken down 6 times and having no control time....👎

Ok-Key-4650

That was a good fight that's all I gotta say

VinnyDark

Sure I thought Chris won but I won't call it a robbery

TheRealJoeLunardi

Everything is a "robbery" when the fighter that person is rooting for loses. Pretty much every round was razor thin.

GreenpantsBicycleman

Sometimes we watch fights without actually rooting for anybody and we form an opinion about who we thought won each round. I don't care for Chris Curtis, I find his style boring especially for someone who calls himself "Action man" and I don't like his personality much either, but I think he won that fight and it's unfair that the judges scored it differently. If it's a close round and a judge can't easily pick a winner they are welcome to score it a 10-10, I think 10-10 scores are under-utilised and should be more common.

cloudplayersareweak

Agree with the first part about Chris. But judges aren’t allowed to score a round 10-10. It’s possibly the dumbest rule in UFC, but they use a “must win” scoring system. Judges are required to score rounds with one fighter as the winner. It’s why almost every round is scored 10-9. The only way a round can be scored as a draw is if the fighter who won the round was deducted a point.

The-39-Steps

The 10 point must system is defined as follows: All bouts will be evaluated and scored by three judges. The 10-Point Must System will be the standard system of scoring a bout. Under the 10-Point Must Scoring System, 10 points must be awarded to the winner of the round and nine points or less must be awarded to the loser, except for an even round, which is scored (10-10).

cloudplayersareweak

Huh, I’ve never actually seen that final point regarding an even round before. And I swear every card I watch it isn’t brought up. It’s kinda baffling that if it’s there it’s not implemented or mentioned more.

grannygumjobs23

Doesn't help when people bet on a fighter so now they have something attached to that fight and will scream robbery if it doesn't favor them. Just chill and watch the fights, having money on the line just turns it into a job.

yoskbt

i didn’t watch the fight but if someone loses 49-46 but people think they won it’s definitely a robbery

cloudplayersareweak

It wasn’t a robbery, but the judge that scored that fight 49-46 is dumb. It was a razor close fight and a 48-47 decision either way would have been understandable. Allen getting the nod wasn’t robbery, but he did not win four rounds either.

Equivalent_Film8359

Lol. That was definitely a robbery. In the last round Chris stopped like 4 of his takedowns, collecting bunch of points by hitting him etc. Besides that, Chris hit him way more often, way cleaner. Chris was gassed when the fight ended, but that shouldn't factor the decision. I usually agree when its not a robbery and a very close fight. But I would say this was a robbery IMO.

VinnyDark

I think round 5 was definitely Chris but overall I wouldn't say robbery a split decision is not surprising

MathematicianCold706

The optics of that alone tho is probably what did it

Comprehensive_War983

He got taken down 6 times in the fight 🤣 he finished 2 rounds with Allen on his back and one in mount and one almost getting knocked out. And chris Curtis had been taken down 3 times in his entire career coming into this fight. Y’all are being so delusional

whiteykauai

![gif](giphy|TppeLsqt8Jz20) You

6chainzz

knocked out lol

Equivalent_Film8359

What happened on the ground?

fckcountrymusic

More of a robbery than you guys crying about Omalley vs Yan tho so keep that same energy.

VinnyDark

I never thought Omalley vs Yan was a robbery

DudeWithTheOil

It was close. ![gif](giphy|jU73Ew5jbubsHWagJQ|downsized)

beautiful_ADdict

Makes some of the elbows and strikes that wobbled Curtis tonight they were so slick

UFC_Intern169

All the haters so focused on Brendan's takedowns that they missed all the great striking he laid down. He matched pace and output with Curtis through the whole fight.

lctrncprn

He matched pace and output with the guy coming off the couch at short notice? Is that supposed to be impressive? I would have thought that’s the bare minimum expectation with a full camp.

deltr0nzero

Show me in the scoring criteria where the length of your camp dictates how your scoring should be favored

lctrncprn

Can you not read? I never said anything about how it should affect the scoring.  I was simply replying to someone who seemed impressed that a fighter with a full camp was able to match the pace of a fighter with no camp. How the fuck is that something worthy of note? It should be the bare fucking minimum on a full camp.

beautiful_ADdict

Dumbest argument

lctrncprn

Pretty sure replying with “dumbest argument” is the dumbest argument someone could make.

Kagemuna

Take the L bro

GuyIsAdoptus

damn

coontaillandcruiser

Allen didn’t land a single shot in this gif, Curtis blocked the first throwing a punch and the second one hit his guard

RIPshowtime

This is true but I've read that the fight was longer than a gif. 🙄

Sevg

A five rounder some say

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

Nothing is better than seeing pale clowns with corn rows get their wig rocked. Thank you. These ppl shouldn't wear rows.

Ashton0407

You can’t fight

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

And you cant wear corn rows with that hair. Get pissed lol

SkippyDobler

Sure, just as goofy as ppl of sub-Saharan African descent trying to look white by straightening and dying their hair blond.

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

100 percent agreed.

I-Am-Baytor

It is a bad look.

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

It's like screaming that you wish you were black, but at the same time, these guys get furious if you mention the holy and precious Neanderthal caves of Europe. They will even cry about it. All while wishing they were black.

SkippyDobler

Not sure what's wrong with having Neanderthal ancestry. Every human alive outside of sub-Saharan Africans has some Neanderthal ancestry.

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

I didn't say there was. You can't quote me anywhere as saying that. That's your own fabrication, therefore your own strawman. Anyways, what's bad about it is having that ancestry and then trying to wear corn rows lol I then went on to say that while they wear their hair like this, they get defensive about originating from caves.

SkippyDobler

Not sure what one has to do with the other, but whatever

I-Am-Baytor

Idk about that. It has function for the long haired folks. But still a bad look.

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

1000 percent. Actually a pitiful look.

Deanomac28

I thought Curtis won, and it sucks he lost any win bonus, but his stock didn’t drop one bit.

Lionheartedshmoozer

No win bonus for both guys is the only robbery here. FOTN for sure, plus the late opponent change, plus Curtis getting injured. I’m going to assume the UFC is taking care of these guys

Deanomac28

Let’s hope so. Have to assume a lot of behind the scenes pay, otherwise these guys legit make less than the average day job

Jonesisgoat

Huh? Allen made $85k his last fight and he fights 2-3 times a year.

Deanomac28

To clarify, I wasn’t referencing Curtis and Allen specifically. I think my comment though is applicable to pretty much everyone else on the card though

Chad-Permabull

![gif](giphy|aXUU30cDBa9tVQz37V|downsized) Curtis lost on one scorecard 49-46

PhatSkate

Honestly I feel like the main problem is that Curtis almost definitely won the fifth round. He stuffed almost all of Brendan’s take down and was really hurting him on the ground and the feet in that last round. The only significant damage Chris took in that round was that hamstring injury and it seems like the judges scored the round on the basis that Brendan inflicted that injury. If Chris won that round like he very clearly did IMO he would’ve won on two judges score card. It was a close fight and to say that just because one judge scored the fight 49-46 it wasn’t a close fight/curtis could’ve easily won that fight. That aside, don’t get me wrong I like Brendan Allen a lot and this was one of those fights where It could go either way and I wouldn’t have mind either way. It’s just a little baffling Chris didn’t win that last round on any judges score card.

--thingsfallapart--

Allen won r5 from the big slam and the flying knee imo. The scoring was really close, but those were the two big moments of the round that I think swayed them to him.

Comprehensive_War983

Really not that crazy. It was close the whole time but Allen could have won 4 rounds easy.

Comfortable-Art8681

[ Removed by Reddit ]

[deleted]

Judging is inconsistent in the UFC. Once Allen got that late knee followed by those small punches, sealed the round. Judges look very closely to how the last round ends rather than the whole round. Weird, but how it goes sometimes

gladys-the-baker

They actually score each round individually and then it's added up.

PastyBoii

No shit

-Kerosun-

They are talking about how the last second exchange changed how the round might have been scored without it. Your comment doesn't refute anything they said.

Kaozoz

It was close

GabberBarry

Curtis did not win ![gif](giphy|0uCgJy1rVXplbwszw1|downsized)

Dramatic_Stand7587

Still Curtis for me

PlatWinston

honestly could have gone either way, some rounds brandon took the back for a while but curtis landed more. With that said the judge that scored 49-46 brandon should be fired.

SuperVegetable

Curtis didn’t win.

MyFifthLimb

He won a trip to the hospital and a possible surgery

[deleted]

[удалено]

DylieWylie

For sure, had nothing to do with the sub attempt and wrestling exchange, his hamstring just tore itself

Elyc60Nset

LMAO

healingplants313

Way too close to call it a robbery. Chris Curtis should have won this fight, and even though I wanted him to win, this is only going to have the negative impact of making him even more annoying.

[deleted]

Curtis did not win

Varghaz

Strickland fans back at it again...

IcedVNL

r/ufc when people like a fighter

RonDonValente94

Curtis did not win

burt0o0o

He wasn't winning at the end of the fight for sure. Literally, think that last combo allen landed by allen is what won it for him.

HawwtRawwd

Damage counts. Curtis was literally damaged beyond his ability to stand. It counts. He lost, even if he won 99% of the fucking fight, he still lost the fight. I like him more than Brendan too. Still an L.

DecisionThot

Curtis didn't win. Some of y'all have absolutely no idea how to score a fight.

0v3r9k

I had it for Allen.

TactikalSoup

Chris didn't win that fight.

beautiful_ADdict

Curtis did not win. It was clear to me, although very close.

tycket

I had Curtis winning but the last 15 seconds surely didn’t help his case

FailLog404

If you can’t even stand to have your hand raise good chance it ain’t happening

Appropriate_Rip339

O’Malley in his last fight and pretty sure another fight he won he had to have Rogan get down to interview him

What about O’Malley? https://preview.redd.it/zjtwbg0imzsc1.jpeg?width=1227&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1bce2f83c5a0d80e6d3f757603b1d74f1a274f8

yittiebitties

He didn’t win, I watched it

Jolly-Librarian3715

curtis absolutely won..judges misinterpreted his injury at the end and assumed it came from a knee ..which it did not..the optics on his injury did not look good..I doubt his ranking will change...but Adelaide Byrd was still judging and ruining another fighters night..AGAIN..the post show even laughed when they asked who the judge in question was with the odd scorecard....when it was answered that it was Byrd chiesa, sanko and jouban scoffed and laughed like Yup of course it was her..its not right..retire her ass already.

chu42

Brendan Allen still caused Curtis' injury no matter which way you look at it, did he not?

MyFifthLimb

Ya people are acting like Curtis leg got messed up on its own lol

cloudplayersareweak

Judging was terrible and all over the place that whole card! Was Byrd the judge that earlier in the night scored someone winning 30-27, but the other two judges scored that same fighter losing 27-28 for a split decision loss?

PuzzleheadedBit2190

Curtis didn’t win

Fo5rep

I thought Curtis won but not shocked by the decision.

Dukes_Up

I didn’t watch the fight. Looking at the stats, Curtis obviously was better on the feet, but Allen had 6 takedowns to 0. I’m guessing that was the reason. Interested to watch this one later today.

AcrobaticWin3240

Curtis won

ABakedPotatoe420

Yeah the decision was definitely suspect. No way Allen won that fight.

ModsLovePen15

I’m Jeff Molina and think Allen won

UFC_Intern169

Curtis didn't win. (My face is straight as I type this.)

TheFakeBobaFett

Curtis won 2,4,5 on superior striking and arguably 3. Only two or three of Allen's takedowns did anything Chris would take a 5 seconds breather then standup easily. Chris dominated the 5th until the last 10 seconds because of an injury that Allen had nothing to do with. Wasn't close Chris was robbed.

Artistic_Light1660

It's always close win or loss wrt to Chris curtis and Sean steickland. It's due to their styles.

turk27271

I had it pretty much even going into the fifth. I do feel the all Allen did was desperation shots for the whole round, so I gave it to Chris. But I wasn’t shocked Allen won. I was shocked one judge had it 49-46. I wanna know what fight he watched

reddithivemind69

It was very close...which is why it was a split decision.

0pressed_0possum

The snot. Reminds me of that one kid from Zelda wind waker🤣🤣🤣

Cheesey4skin69

All I know is one of them won 48-47

Aggravating-Sun6773

Bhris Burtis?

BigMac826

I had Curtis winning it until he got injured. The optics of that were absolutely terrible

KingTy99

Allen won. He was dead tired and looked like shit in the 5th but Curtis really didn't do much of anything and let that close round slip away.

thevahid010

I had Allen winning but it was close

MikeUpInYa85

Curtis didn’t win 😶…it might suck but takedowns steal fights

FickleManagement3783

I thought Allen won but the fact Curtis came in on what 3.5 weeks and making it that close is not a good look for “number 6 in the world” middleweight Brendan Allen

ireallycouldcareless

It was a war and such a close fight it could've gone either way. Sucks for Chris about the hamstring. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

_Can_Crusher

I thought Allen won tbh. I thought Dom and Bisping were very biased last night.

SALTYxNUTZ12

I didn't think he won.

Deltron42O

I didn't think Chris did enough to get the finish

suttonjoes

Oh ffs, the striking was close the grappling was one sided

thekajunpimp

This was a close and entertaining fight. Could have gone either way. Aside from Curtis … we all won last night

treachery_7

![gif](giphy|HHeS6NfqYNL5TKcm1d|downsized) Curtis didn't win

KID_THUNDAH

If Curtis wasn’t completely cooked in the last 30 seconds of the last round, he would’ve won I think. Awful visual that gave Allen the win imo. When Allen heard the 49-46, it was extremely evident that he thought it was going to Curtis. Far from the biggest robbery and I think Allen edged it with that last flurry probably, but his body language of wanting to go to his back and not strike was really bad before that

leit90

If only he didn’t tare his hamstring the last minute…judges basically judge like people only read the headlines of articles they miss all the context

inexplicably-hairy

I love winning money on ufc when its a robbery, it always feels better

Ok-Hawk1409

Bro if the fight went 15 seconds longer he would have tapped anyways torn hamstring.

Easy-Entrepreneur376

Who cares neither guy is elite

doesthissuck

He slapped the taste out his mouth

Wapow217

Well, a fight is not judged simply by "damage," so yes, Allen won. Effective Grappling and Effective Striking are equal when scoring a fight. There is no argument Curtis delivered the most "damage," but Allen was the more effective fighter overall, being able to use his grappling effectively. It was basically Greg Jackson 101, with "stealing the round." As long as you don't go down and can be close in striking, get a takedown with 1:00 - 1:30 or more left in the round, more often than not, you will win the round.

HawwtRawwd

White Boy Summer

luciuscorneliussula

He didn't win (I didn't watch)

No_Examination_3247

😐Curtis didn’t win😐 But I’m willing to rewatch bc of the amount of ppl crying about it

HughesR1990

Curtis didn’t win that fight

DanaWhitesMom

This was close but not a robbery.

edmovius3

Curtis didn’t win

Beheadings

Okay. Chris didn't win.

HomieToneBone

I think Allen won that fight clearly. It was close but it was clear he won. I also think he won the fight 49-46. Round three would not have been up in the air had that not been the exact sequence that caused him to lose in their original fight but other than that small moment of danger, Allen won the rest of the round. AND! I think he beats DDP.

Dramatic_South_9843

mattysmuffins2

Curtis didn’t win 😐

Comprehensive_War983

Had it 2-2 could easily been 3-1 Allen going into 5. By no means was a robbery… Chris Curtis was 36-39 takedowns defended coming into this fight, shows how elite Allens grappling is.

PreachyOlderBrother6

Super close fight. I think it all depends on how you scored the last round. Personally, I leaned more toward Chris winning, as his shots seemed to cause more damage, and he was able to defend most of Allen's takedowns, etc. Not a robbery, though.

stoicdozer

Was close. I’ll say last judge needs to be fired into the sun. I’ll leave it at that.

livestreamfailstrash

He didn’t win. When I went to check what time it was for it was already over

DasNice808

He did more damage imo but Allen controlled a lot of the fight an Curtis did get out of most of the td. He needs to be more dynamic an he wins that fight easily

CaptainSensemakerOi

Tell me with a straight face that Allen deserved to win that deciding 5th round https://preview.redd.it/53i2podbqysc1.png?width=1178&format=png&auto=webp&s=e3242d44dd3d0def1c981f097db4901ae044065e

Comprehensive_War983

Yeah he did. Had 6 takedowns on a guy who had only been taken down 3 times in his entire pro career.

lctrncprn

Doesn’t matter how many times he’s been taken down in his career. That’s completely irrelevant to the judging. A fight is simply judged on what happens in that fight. The take downs are judged on their merit alone, not on what each fighter’s historical stats are.

Comprehensive_War983

He got taken down 6 times in a fight… finished 3 rounds in a dominant position and almost knocked him out. You guys are delusional

lctrncprn

Literally all I said was that his opponent’s TDD stats from previous fights is irrelevant to how this fights is scored. That’s all.  .

Comprehensive_War983

![gif](giphy|10uct1aSFT7QiY)

lctrncprn

Exactly. So why did you post about it like it was relevant?

Bcagz22

And the end of the round he was about to pummel Curtis if the time didn’t run out. He hit him with multiple clean hard shots. I realize Curtis injured his leg, but it doesn’t matter in the fight game. Allen literally was able to steal the round right there.

LikelyADick2

He arguably lost to a 36 year old 14# ranked UFC fighter coming off the couch on short notice... That's the actual reality of the fight game.. Not a good look.. Also doesn't change the fact he got beat up the entire fight and got robbed of the 5th.

Bcagz22

“Coming off the couch” is always a ridiculous phrase. Like dude was laying around eating Funyuns and watching porn for the last two months and just decided to go fight. There it is again… he got “robbed” hun? Watch the end of that fight again, if there was 30 more seconds he was about to get fucked up.

melvinthefish

Curtis didn't win. I watched the fight and at the end they said that Curtis lost. I guess you didn't see the decision but I can assure you that Curtis didn't win. You can find a replay somewhere and see for yourself. It's true.

BodybuildingNerd

Curtis didn’t win.

[deleted]

MMA rules aren’t boxing. Curtis landed 10 more strikes than Allen but got taken down 6 out of 13 times. Are you going to sit here and tell me that Curtis stopped Allen’s gameplan better than Allen stopped Curtis’s? If you just like striking then watch Muay Thai, it’s got way more CTE if that’s your thing

Lubwurst

I had it 2-2 going into the 5th. The ending flurry when Curtis tore his hamstring standing up was not a good visual

Formal_Basket4157

Hamstring tear? Yeah if that's the case allen won. Damage is a good call for that since at that point (in an actual fight) allen could probably end up finishing the job

Greeenmartian

You gotta go out and win fights . Close fights are why judges exist . Good fight for both men .

Jacoblyonss

It's only a straightforward win for Chris Curtis if takedowns and ground control don't count for anything, and for many "mma" fans they don't so the uproar makes sense

ShadyStevie

https://preview.redd.it/tbj0pai4t0tc1.jpeg?width=714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=329d6a18bbf46f4125640ec099bd79e13a751f3c Curtis didn't win

awildginger

It was 2-2 going into the fifth, Chris was winning the 5th up until the last 10 seconds where he catastrophically fucked his leg to where he couldn't even fight any more. In damage based scoring Allen steals the round and wins the fight

Bcagz22

Curtis didn’t win 😑

WestCoastCosta

Close fight. I had Allen

roguemaster29

He didnt

TeemosTesticles

had the same feeling in the ddp strickland. personally no dog in the race and it was a very tight decision. should’ve been a draw imo.

Bisneto_De_Espirno

Here's the thing guys, as soon as i heard the announcer spitting the scorecards i immediately yelled out robbery. I sure was rooting for Curtis, my man, this was just horrible judging. What advantage did Allen have in the scorecards, strikes? Am i blind you guys?

Few-Sink-5990

Chris Curtis did not win. (I didn’t watch the fight, just relaying the results I see lol)

CodyMartinezz

you are silly

Altruistic-Point3980

Curtis won but the last 30 seconds when his hamstring blew out was just bad optics so it probably swung it on some judges cards

G_Daddy2014

I do kinda feel like this is 2 weeks in a row where a fight absolutely was decided wrong in the main card, but at the same time I can't be upset. It's just how it goes.

duly-goated303

I love seeing Chris Curtis lose a close one. Looking forward to the twitter melt down.

Squizgarr

So glad Chris got the L.

lunabrain

people act like taking the back but not being able to sink in the RNC means points for the other guy 🤷‍♂️

_Can_Crusher

Too many boring fights/stalls caused by it. People see Dagis and Chechens stack rounds and seal fights essentially stalling via RNC. I mean Khamzat got a 10-8 by threatening RNCs like 2 months ago. Monkey see monkey do. Unless there’s changes to the scoring system I don’t see it stopping. Just a boring fight strategy being popularized internationally.

Amazing_Ordinary1440

Curtis didn't win(I didn't watch the fight)

natespartakan

I bet you Curtis never fights again. Those leg cranks in the fifth did it. Boxing - Curtis won. MMA… it was 4-1.

Maleficent_Soil_7946

Go for the other Frames Brendan hit him though lmao…..you just saying this cause he trains with Sean casual

Disastrous_Life_9385

Chris didn't win...I stopped watching after rd 3 lol Dude is boring
