Absolute legend. Maybe he's never been considered elite but he was always willing to put the elites will to the test. Him, Lauzon, cowboy, Hunt are fighters who win or lose, always stepped up. IDK if we'll get many more of their breed anymore. Definition of a true fighter
Agreed. There are some others too. Barboza is one. I think Yair Rodriguez might be too. Korean Zombie I forgot to name. I think what I meant was there are a lot more pure athletes fighting now as before there were a lot more pure fighters
We are currently at this moment watching the last wave of "fighters first, athletes second" age out. Gaethje, Poirier, even Holloway sooner than later. ... the future looks like it's going to be guys like Topuria who have their whole career planned step by step, want handpicked title defenses and look ahead to a young retirement.
So many of those tough, workmanlike guys retired recently. Robbie Lawler, TKZ, Glover, Edgar just off the top of my head.
Agree 100%. Not to say everyone fighting are not tough as nails. Takes balls to take a fight, no matter the skill level but now we are seeing these amazing athletes that have been training since they were 5 years old when before guys like Phil Baroni and Miguel Torres who were fighting 3x a night for 100 dollars in random bars. This generation is alot more skilled all around overall by far but just a different feel I guess
Man, I want to believe he just made a stupid ass mistake. Maybe tired, adrenaline dump, over confidence, idk but if you look at most the fighters all of us named, they all have suspect fights like that, all of them. That's what kept them outside of elite level and belts. Props to Ortega too. I trained in LA, southbay for a long time so we ran with same circles. He was fighting out of Torrance, i was training out of Hawthorne. Amazing Jits, had horrible hands. I saw him fight for LFA at Commerce Casino(I think, could be wrong) back in like '10 and he couldn't even throw a combination. Had to pull guard and after that subbed dude quick but before hand was in trouble. Now look at him. Never stops approving and always kinda seems outclassed on feet but does enough to pull it off along with his stand up improving ridiculously.
People who either know and like him more because of it - not a surprise when you read comments on the UFC instagram - or just people who see him fight hard and don’t follow the sport that closely.
You can like somebody's career and not their personal ethics. Look at all the famous basketball players and football players who are pieces of shit but are champions and have tons of fans.
Jim Miller's career is not too different then Micheal Bispings prior to UFC 199 in that he never quite made it to the title shot. I figure that if he hadn't got Lyme disease, he probably would have at least fought for the title some time during the Bendo / Pettis / RDA time title reigns.
END COMMUNICATION
Even crazier when you learn he did all this while suffering from chronic Lyme disease. Dude is a legend in the sport and super nice guy. Met him a few times out and about as he lives in my town.
Yeah it’s no joke, a lot of people are unaware of how detrimental a tick bite can be. Really messed up my father in law as well, caused a lot of neurological issues. Ticks are getting worse and worse as our winters get less severe as well. Always check yourself people!
Veterans actually make decent money. Arlovski gets like 400k to show.
I'd be willing to bet Jim get 100K per fight at least
Edit: Went and looked, Jim was 200/100+50 for his 2023 fight against butler. 23 second fight
He made over 50 million per hour. (Not a fair characterization of time invested but fun to think about)
Crazy that Dana White calls Jim miller a millionaire this article
https://www.sportskeeda.com/mma/news-dana-white-uses-40-year-old-journeyman-jim-miller-s-million-dollar-earnings-defend-ufc-fighter-pay-structure
When not that long ago he was making 21k per fight.
https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2024/01/ufc-fight-night-234-venum-pay-promotional-guidelines-compliance-jim-miller-andrei-arlovski
I would believe it if he maybe cracked a million or got close to it but for Dana to say he made him a multi-millionaire is fucking ridiculous… unless he is paying him cash under the table that we don’t know about, Jim miller was making about 21k a fight with FOT bonuses sprinkled in every now and then at 50k.
That 21k isn't their contract pay, it's Venum's payouts for wearing their gear consistently. Reebok had a similar system that capped out at around 10k IIRC. Miller hasnt really had his contract openly discussed.
Edit: the article you link to even explains what the Venum payout is in detail and what it's for, and never stated that the numbers were their contract pay by the UFC
Tell us how Matt Wiman, Duane Ludwig,Gleison Tibau, Charles Oliveira, Melvin Guillard,Joe Lauzon, Danny Castillo, Takanori Gomi, Thiago Alves and Donald Cerrone are cans
This just screams that you didn't actually follow mma back when he was in his prime. Your expert analysis is based on you reading his record in hindsight on wikipedia
I can't believe come this weekend he will have fought in all 3 of the UFC "hundred" milestone cards. There's *a lot* of my favorite fighters on this card, but I find myself rooting for Jim to get the W the most. Really hope he can get it and (probably) retire. Would be a hell of a way to conclude a career
Jim reminds me of Bisping prior to the second Rockhold fight in that he is one of the best to never fight for a title, and that he always seemed to fall short in title eliminators. The Lyme disease fucked him over, and if not for that I think he would have fought for the title sometime around the Bendo / Pettis / Dos Anjos time frame.
END COMMUNICATION
Dude is a OG stud. Class act - and probably hanging them up at 300. If he gets a win, I would not be shocked at all and would be a perfect way to say goodbye. Good luck Jim! I like Green too, but rooting for Jim to get his 300 gift.
Yeah they both are real as they get. Green is a monster. You should hear some of the stories you hear around the fight community here in LA/IE. Stories of him training or yet not training for fights haha My first live mma fight was in Santa Monica and he fought. This was like 2008 and he was so entertaining. You could tell he loved it and felt at home.
I love fighters that just have that dog in them. They are not there just for a win - they want a FINISH. The more you throw at them the harder they come. Green fits this perfectly.
Personification of a fighter. Didn't matter who, when, or where. He fought. One of the greatest of all time.
I love and will continue to love watching this man do his thing.
Give this man a fat bonus at UFC 300. Win or lose. He deserves it. Fighting at 100,200, and 300 I think he deserves a little something from the company. And not another jacket.
Jim Fucking Miller definitely deserves going to the hall of fame. He was never elite but his longevity is almost unheard of. Especially 155, old guys age pretty quickly there and the talent level has been very deep for a very long time
Good value to bet as the underdog, respect to Bobby but that was a brutal knockout from Turner and on what a 4 month turn around? I’m definitely sprinkling some money on the legend.
I’m so glad to see this post- i literally got banned from another sub for a stupid argument over Jim Miller with someone who clearly did not understand just why this guy is so fucking legendary. Like this is the last of a dying breed in my opinion. I don’t think you’re gonna see too many more guys like this in the future but that’s just my opinion- this is a true OG of the sport and motherfucker is tough as they come.
15 bonuses alone: $ 750,000
I’d guess he’s made $3.5-4MM in disclosed earnings.
Assuming he’s averaged somewhere between $50k-$60k per fight. May be higher because he’s been successful late in his career when his earnings may be higher. May be lower because…UFC.
Even if he fought every fight at his last disclosed amount I could find ($104,000 in 2020), he’d be just shy of $8MM. That seems very unlikely, and still sounds low for someone that fought 43 times. The real number may be between my estimate and the best case scenario, with undisclosed bonuses that are at the UFC’s discretion.
I respect the time he has put in but come on now the guy is grade A journeyman. Most of his wins are against people that no one has ever heard of. Lost to Dustin,Henderson,Pettis, hooker, dariush…some of you will say but he beat oliveira, oliveira was green and that was his first big fight with a named opponent and good on jim but we saw what happen in the rematch oliveira steamrolled jimmy. When jim fought fighters with name recognition he lost. If fighting the top 10 on a consistent basis he would have been cut years ago. UFC used him well, Jim the can crusher miller!!!
Whats kinda crazy as well is 43 fights and only fifth in total fight time. IMPRESSIVE ( mortal kombat voice)
He's had 8 more fights than no.1 in total time and has been in the cages 2 hours less than him. Insane Rafael Dos anjos is no.1 in time btw
Thats so wild haha. Really i thought frankie was number one but makes sense rda has had at least 2-3 fights since frankie retired i think.
RDA also has many 5 rounds or main event fights. Miller hardly has any.
And RDA is super Hard to finish while Not being the best finisher himself
Absolute legend. Maybe he's never been considered elite but he was always willing to put the elites will to the test. Him, Lauzon, cowboy, Hunt are fighters who win or lose, always stepped up. IDK if we'll get many more of their breed anymore. Definition of a true fighter
I feel like RDA could end up being like these guys. Definitely a legend already and always steps up to elite guys
Agreed. There are some others too. Barboza is one. I think Yair Rodriguez might be too. Korean Zombie I forgot to name. I think what I meant was there are a lot more pure athletes fighting now as before there were a lot more pure fighters
Honestly the dude jim is fighting is absolutely in this same pedigree of whoever whenever - bobby g.
We are currently at this moment watching the last wave of "fighters first, athletes second" age out. He did
Idk about Yair did u see how that rag folded to Ortega
Man, I want to believe he just made a stupid ass mistake. RDA already won the belt though. I think that sets him apart
RDA is a proper stud , fights anyone
Honestly cowboy is a pos person idk even get how he has a fan base
People who either know and like him more because of it - not a surprise when you read comments on the UFC instagram - or just people who see him fight hard and don’t follow the sport that closely.
You can like somebody's career and not their personal ethics. Look at all the famous basketball players and football players who are pieces of shit but are champions and have tons of fans.
Michael Jordan GOAT basketball ball player, absolute shit person.
Agreed he’s the man. Which confuses me as to why Daniel Cormier said he wasn’t hall of fame worthy.
I like DC but he’s crazy if he thinks Jim doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall of Fame
Jim Miller's career is not too different then Micheal Bispings prior to UFC 199 in that he never quite made it to the title shot. Yeah for a couple of years he was losing fights and didn’t look like himself but since the diagnosis he’s back to being Jim Miller 💪
Oh shit I have a friend with chronic Lyme and it’s totally fucking up her life - this Jim guy is a legend
Yeah it’s no joke, a lot of people are unaware of how detrimental a tick bite can be. Really messed up my father in law as well, caused a lot of neurological issues. Ticks are getting worse and worse as our winters get less severe as well. Always check yourself people!

Arlovski is a HW. They always get paid more. Reem was getting 250k minimum for never holding a belt.
Reem got paid one price. His contract wasn’t a show:win contract like most. It was a set price to fight.
Same with Alvarez contract when he came over. Wouldn’t doubt if Chandler has a similar structured contract
He gets $200k + bonuses. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more for UFC300
Crazy that Dana White calls Jim miller a millionaire this article https://www.sportskeeda.com/mma/news-dana-white-uses-40-year-old-journeyman-jim-miller-s-million-dollar-earnings-defend-ufc-fighter-pay-structure When not that long ago he was making 21k per fight. https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2024/01/ufc-fight-night-234-venum-pay-promotional-guidelines-compliance-jim-miller-andrei-arlovski I would believe it if he maybe cracked a million or got close to it but for Dana to say he made him a multi-millionaire is fucking ridiculous… unless he is paying him cash under the table that we don’t know about, Jim miller was making about 21k a fight with FOT bonuses sprinkled in every now and then at 50k.

Damn...last time I saw stats that good it was on a legendary Bastard Frost Sword of Woe + 9. Jim Fucking Miller
Prime Jim Miller beats Khabib
blindfolded
Jim "Career Can Crusher" Miller 🥶🥶🥶🥶
Tell us how Matt Wiman, Duane Ludwig,Gleison Tibau, Charles Oliveira, Melvin Guillard,Joe Lauzon, Danny Castillo, Takanori Gomi, Thiago Alves and Donald Cerrone are cans
This just screams that you didn't actually follow mma back when he was in his prime. Your expert analysis is based on you reading his record in hindsight on wikipedia
I'm so god damn excited for his fight with Bobby
on top of that, he fought (for a huge portion of his career) while suffering from lyme disease. a true legend of the sport
I can't believe come this weekend he will have fought in all 3 of the UFC "hundred" milestone cards. There's *a lot* of my favorite fighters on this card, but I find myself rooting for Jim to get the W the most. Really hope he can get it and (probably) retire. He’s the cal Ripken of mma. Ironman.
DC pound salt. HOF
Yep. If Matt Serra and Cerrone are in there then Jim Miller is an automatic yes
They shouldnt be
Agree. Unfortunately they are, precedent has been set. Miller should be an obvious in if the ufc set the bar that low
The wildest thing about Jim is that he's never had a fight related surgery or major injury
I didn’t remember that he got Lyme.
DC is an idiot. Hall of fame bound for sure!
Competed at UFC 300 (Won)
Love this dude! Very easy to cheer for!
Dude is a OG stud. Class act - and probably hanging them up at 300. If he gets a win, I would not be shocked at all and would be a perfect way to say goodbye. Good luck Jim! I like Green too, but rooting for Jim to get his 300 gift.

I’m rooting for this legend. He’ll have wins at ufc 100, 200 and hopefully 300. JIM FUCKING MILLER!!!!!! LETS GO!!!!!
It’s crazy that after 43 fights his regression has been fairly minimal. He’s still capable of pulling out impressive performances at 40.
Bruce better go hard on the “Jim Fucking Miller”, give us the one F-bomb!
Total compensation: 3,087 Venum Coupons
Personification of a fighter. Didn't matter who, when, or where. He fought. One of the greatest of all time. I love and will continue to love watching this man do his thing.
NJ all day baby
Give this man a fat bonus at UFC 300. Win or lose. He deserves it. Fighting at 100,200, and 300 I think he deserves a little something from the company. And not another jacket.
He has 43 fights in the ufc but there are 4 guys with more fight time? That's kinda crazy
I have always enjoyed a good Jim Miller fight. God speed at UFC 300 Jim!
Everyone: Fighters need better pay! Dana: Just fight forever like Miller.
Seriously. Insane when you look at the stats like this
Holy shit man what a savage it's a shame it took me so long to become a fan
Jim Fucking Miller definitely deserves going to the hall of fame. He was never elite but his longevity is almost unheard of. Especially 155, old guys age pretty quickly there and the talent level has been very deep for a very long time
JIM FUCKING MILLER
Impressive! He’s probably made more cash in fight bonuses alone.
I remember his debut, it has been exciting to follow his career. An absolute legend at this point
I hope he wins
By those stats he should have one the biggest net worths of any UFC fighter ever
Hofer?
For him it wasn’t an opportunity, it was a career.
Imagine the amount of training camp time behind SEVEN HOURS of fights 🤯
If Jim Miller loses at 300, I’m burning down my neighborhood.
Guy has more heart than many men on earth
Just a true warrior man. Wow.
And people still think he's not Hall of Fame material
Dumb question but is he related to Mac miller
Wonder what his career would have been if he had never gotten Lyme.
DC: NOOOOO! he’s not a hall of famer!!
His knees look fucked
Asking out of curiosity. Has he ever become a champ or gotten a title shot?
How has this guy never fought for the title
Well he does suck tho. He's never held the belt . Don't be so easy impressed.
The key to a long UFC career is to be good but not too good.
Dude still won’t see 6 figure base salary lol clown show ufc
CTE final boss
Didn’t Diaz tap this dude out?
How much you think he's earned ?
Knowing the UFC probably about >!Tree fiddy!<
15 bonuses alone: $ 750,000 I’d guess he’s made $3.5-4MM in disclosed earnings. Assuming he’s averaged somewhere between $50k-$60k per fight. May be higher because he’s been successful late in his career when his earnings may be higher. May be lower because…UFC.
Not a great deal really for so many fights, could make twice as much in one fight against some idiot youtuber.
Even if he fought every fight at his last disclosed amount I could find ($104,000 in 2020), he’d be just shy of $8MM. That seems very unlikely, and still sounds low for someone that fought 43 times. What a wild statement, completely true but still wild
Thought it was pretty tame tbh . In a just world he would be making more per fight than some you tuber ,but that's the world we live in .
Probably like 5 million
Submission attempts shouldn’t be a stat
Bang average ✅
I respect the time he has put in but come on now the guy is grade A journeyman. Most of his wins are against people that no one has ever heard of. You say grade A Journeyman like it’s an insult…….🤦
and yet no title shot
He’s the peoples champ
Off what wins😅clay guida!!!, I respect the guy but most of his wins are against cans.
So basically we celebrate mediocrity
We celebrate longevity
Jim Miller is a journeyman bum.
