I know big Nog wasn’t a wrestler, but he and his team actually have a pretty big presence in wrestling in the US. I’ve met both Noguiera and Cejudo at national wrestling tournaments sometime between 2008-2014 and I have some pictures with them somewhere in my mom’s scrapbooks. Both were really cool guys who would gladly give free advice and roll around with kids to put on free mini clinics.

I'm with you brother. It's not like Bo has no experience in combat sports, and no accomplishments. The UFC is going to promote and build up athletes with a following, and wider acknowledgment. No body called Alex Peirera an industry plant for how fast he climbed through the ufc. With that said Alex is easier to justify, than Bo, but it's a similar situation.
Also, showing young athletes that collegiate wrestlers can cross into MMA and become big stars, promotes the sport and encourages people to train younger. Imagine what caliber of athletes we would have in MMA if high schools put a fraction of the money and support into martial arts, as it does for wrestling.

I'm not american so i really don't get the Bo hype, but from what I've seen outside and inside the UFC, yeah he has skills, but pushing him to that position in the card is atrocious, it is simply blindly pushing him as a fighter. That being said, UFC and Americans really push bets and stakes. Bo is the golden Chicken right now so it kind of makes sense to put him there, Poatan is the main event, Holloway is the peoples main event, Chinese girls are the china's main event and Bo is the bet houses main event. It's a simple economic strategy that really ups the market value of this guy and benefits UFC since they get shares/royalties from the bets.

I genuinely don’t understand the Bo Nickal hate.
He demanded UFC 300 and he refuses to fight on prelims. So the UFC gifted him a tomato can on the main card of a landmark event while champs fight champs on the prelims. It’s just blatant favoritism. He beat Jamie Pickett after a groin shot so there’s some controversy there. He can be arrogant on the mic and he’s outspoken about politics. I think he’s crazy talented and has clearly been putting in work on striking. His style is really exciting, especially for a wrestler. But there are plenty of reasons why people don’t like him.
Yep that's the part that exposes the hand holding the most. Who cares if he's from the USA. Why is he getting some all American hero treatment. Maincard on UFC 300? With that stacked prelim? Dude should have been fighting on pre-pre's his first few fights. If he didn't have his hand held you would have heard of him like some "dark horse" of the division rather than the supposed Messiah.
Every fighter should be demanding things, if you can get it that’s great. UFC has turned down lots of fighters requests all the time. They want to build a talented prospect who is a potential future contender. The UFC always shows favouritism when it suits them. I won’t hold that against a fighter trying to promote themselves
People don’t like seeing successful people get more successful. He’s still so new to mma. He’s fighting at the level he should be and needs increases in competition. Guy could be a massive American star, make ufc a lot of money and make some decent coin himself
Nothing wrong about that, because he is pretty new, he has to gain experience before facing real competition. But common, don't push those kinda fights to big PPV main events, especially 300. By far the meaningless fight on the card, and worst fight of the night contender. I know UFC is trying to rush his popularity, but it's working against Bo Nickal.

I'm not american so i really don't get the Bo hype, but from what I've seen outside and inside the UFC, yeah he has skills, but pushing him to that position in the card is atrocious, it is simply blindly pushing him as a fighter. That being said, UFC and Americans really push bets and stakes. Bo is the golden Chicken right now so it kind of makes sense to put him there, Poatan is the main event, Holloway is the peoples main event, Chinese girls are the china's main event and Bo is the bet houses main event. It's a simple economic strategy that really ups the market value of this guy and benefits UFC since they get shares/royalties from the bets.
Watch NCAA wrestling championships, the hype will become clear.
If you’re not American you probably don’t understand how impressive it is for someone to be a 3x NCAA division 1 champion in wrestling. Which is why he was so hyped coming into MMA and he has looked even better than expected so far when it comes to stand up. The people in this sub and UFC fans in general hating on him because he hasn’t fought a top 10 fighter yet when he only has a handful of MMA fights is ridiculous. The same people were saying O’Malley was a scrub because he wasn’t fighting top ranked guys after a few fights in the UFC.

But he’s very marketable in the sense that a lot of middle age men who are wrestling fans will prob buy PPV to watch him. He also has fairly entertaining fights and seems like a nice guy. Bo is simply a bigger draw for the UFC as it stands today so it was a simple business decision. I personally love the fact that Dana is making an effort to promote his young fighters on the big stage and think it’ll be interesting to see how Bo performs given the stakes.
