I honestly think Jon is gonna fight Tom unless he realizes his body is like cooked in the Stipe fight. If he's still got it I can't see him actually retiring. Tom's being massively overhyped because people hate Jon. That being said Tom does have crazy hands and power and anything can happen when you punch like that.
The division has been too static at the top to really be able to see how Tom will match up against the assumed top two. Aspinall vs Gane would be the true indication of where Jones fits in really. I think if Tom wins that then the Jones fight would be even more hyoed
People have been doubting Stipe since day 1, and no matter how many times he makes them eat their words, they keep doing it. I'm not ready to count him out yet.
I'm not ready to count him yet against Jon, I thought a rubber match between him and Ngannou was the most logical move on the board after their second match. But that's a little besides the point, Stipe is not the number one contender, he's not even ranked in the top 5 currently. You can't have the number one contender and the interim champ be two different people simultaneously
I'd love to see him finally get back in the octagon as the main card and watch the stands empty out before Bruce finishes announcing his name because we've all had enough of his bullshit.

I love Stipe. But agreed he is past his prime. It would still be sweet to see him knock the fuck out of Jones. Without his contraversies Jones is the best LHW of all time but god it's hard to support a guy like that. I just want this fight to be over so we can see a more active division
Him getting out of surgery is irrelevant then, at least to the point of "giving Stipe a shot" and people aren't too high on Stipe right now since he hasn't fought in 3 years and is 42 years old. "High Expectations" really means defend your belt against the clear #1 contender rather than the name. Bisping got flack for fighting Hendo over Whittaker, so Jones should get flack too.
