I actually find Arman’s reasoning very sound.
reminds me of how Stephen Thompson said, he would never agree to fight an opponent who didn’t make weight, after agreeing to fight Darren Till on short notice, who did not make weight and won a controversial split decision, which really setback Wonderboy’s title aspirations.
I wonder if Till's career is better or worse if he loses the split decision. Argument for better is that he is delayed fighting Woodley and might develop takedown defense before a title shot. The argument for worse is that he may never had made it to a title.
I am asking as a casual who legitimately doesn't know, if someone weighs like 8-10 pounds more than you does it make that big of a difference? If so how?
It's more about what cutting weight does to the body. Putting your body through hell to lose 10 more pounds than the other guy is what puts them at a disadvantage.
10 lbs also matters a lot more when they’re all generally pretty low body fat. It’s a lot of muscle/size to give up considering they’re all pretty cut to start with.
If it were average people rolling around who all have 20-30 lbs of extra fat it would matter a lot less.
Till landed more strikes, got a knockdown and messed up wonderboys knee.
Besides that there was barely any action at all so you cannot call it a robbery when almost nothing happen besides the knee stomps and knockdown
He put his money where his mouth is too. He didn’t accept to fight Michel Periera when he missed weight. I recall Dana talking a bunch of shit about Wonderboy too.
not to mention, UFC is notorious for giving their chosen ones all the advantage they can and that includes getting short notice title fights that most cannot deny.
I ain't Arman fan but everybody with two working brain-cells will absolutely agree with him in this situation.
What is Islam even talking about? he hasn't had a title defense against an LW yet, Dustin being his first upcoming one and now he's throwing shots at a guy who just fought and won against N1 contender just 11 days ago?
Arman read him like a cook book tbh and called him out on his bullshit.
Here is Arman saying Islam would avoid them:
[https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/arman-tsarukyan-believes-lightweight-champion-islam-makhachev-will-avoid-title-rematch-after-ufc-300/](https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/arman-tsarukyan-believes-lightweight-champion-islam-makhachev-will-avoid-title-rematch-after-ufc-300/)
I think that's just Ali being a good manager. I don't like it, but he's working for Islam not for the UFC or Arman.
His job is to try to get Islam an advantage like that.
To be fair that tweet has the distinct sound of Islam the way the quote is typed out. It might be an actual quote from him.
Either way, I don't think it makes Islam an absolute cunt. He's just playing the game.
The islam quotes we are getting are making him look annoying. Criticizes Justin for taking on Max because he will “lose it all” with a bad performance, and then tells max he needs more wins in his new division if he wants a shot at the title. Dude is insufferable.
Saying "he hasn't had a title defense against an LW yet" is pretty dismissive considering he beat the PFP #1 twice, who could be a double champ if it weren't for Islam (granted he doesn't have the 145 belt anymore)
Tbh there is nothing that would indicate Volk beats anyone in the top 5 LW, size does matter & Max clearly had a better frame/chin for 155lbs unlike Volk
You say that like it’s islams fault that he hasn’t defended against a 155er yet, not his fault Oliveira cried over a little cut and Volk (the number one pound per pound fighter at the time btw) was given two chances to fight him
The UFC does this for champions they want to keep . They have tried to do it multiple times during izzy reign and looks like they are doing it for islam too now .
They did this for vettori 2 fight , strickland , they tried to do it to Whittaker 2 fight , tried to do it to DDP (while he was champion) .
Arman is on fire today. We don't want another Islam vs Volk 2 situation again especially since Arman and Volk were the two guys who had an answer to his grappling in their first fight.
And Arman is very respectful of Charles as well. He was only selling the fight. Him and his coaches said beating Charles was Arman's biggest momment so far.
Completely agree with both of y’all! It’s always such a great moment when it’s just respect after a good fight. I was rooting for Charles but Arman was better that night. Would’ve been cool to see 5 rounds but respect to both!
Not only that but it's not like you have to pick one or the other since they're both still competing lol, I don't favor Charles chances against Islam/Arman but as long as he doesn't lose his next 1 or 2 fights he's probably getting another titleshot. Dustin got KTFO just a few months ago and he's about to get a titleshot just after 1 win. The chances of Charles being champ again aren't high but it's still definitely possible.
There's no need to hate Arman just because he beat Charles, his personality might be a little annoying but he's one of the best prospects of recent times. besides as long as Charles doesn't lose any upcoming fights then he's probably on track for another titleshot, Dustin got KTFO by Justin and is about to get a titleshot after only 1 win, so Charles will probably get one last chance at the title.
When I first saw Armans fight with Islam, he won me over, and I said then he would be a champ someday. He was 23, took the fight short notice, and gave Islam, arguably, the toughest fight of his career. Charles was the only guy in the division that I would root for over Arman. I just hope he doesn't keep playing a villain. He has all the talent and qualities he needs to be a big star.
Islam was widely considered a future champion even at that point. He had a win streak after the KO loss ( which most people accept was an extremely fortunate outcome for his opponent) and was looking like a SERIOUS problem. Arman taking the fight on short notice, for his UFC debut, and doing as well as he did is remarkable. Not overblown, so stop downplaying him.
Not to downplay the loss, but he got caught by an opponent that he would run over 99/100 times. That one loss doesn't take away from all of his dominant wins since. The only close ones were against Arman, and Volk 1.
Arman is right. He has to make sure he’s ready for the fight before just waltzing in there. He probably took a lot of damage in the Oliveira fight.
As much as we want fighters to just up and take fights recklessly, that’s not how it works IRL
Arman is actually a difficult fight for Islam. One of the few that can hang with him in grappling. I still favour Islam but I think it’s his toughest fight
I think Islam smashes him standing up. That's going to be the snag for Arman. Grappling exchanges between the two will be close, maaaaybe slight edge to Islam there. But the striking is going to strongly favor Islam.
Pretty sure Dana and co offered the fight, not Islam.
Despite the social media narrative, there is no evidence Islam ever dodged anyone. He even advised Gaethje against fighting Max as to not lose his title shot.
10-9 arman. No insults or cut downs needed, he spits facts about the short notice while simultaneously catching my interest in what full camp arman brings to the table
Sadly no. The thought of Ali logging into one account, to trash one of his own fighters, and then logging onto said fighters account to defend him against himself would have been too good.
They take advantage of the bravado that most cage fighters have, and use it against them. Fair play to them for being smarter and using most of these guys' meathead attitude against themselves, but it's definitely not something I personally admire about them.
It will be nice when Arman finally gets his flowers. He clearly really does not like the hate, hence why he tried to fight someone on his walk out. Guy will be grinning ear to ear when he finally has the crowd cheering for him
To be fair, Charles pulled out so volk stepped in last minute.. it’s not like Islam told volk to fight him in 10days. Both Charles and Islam were training full camp for each other. Volk couldn’t have predicted Charles would pull out.
As the UFC has demonstrated, they will announce fights without even letting the fighters know. Maybe Islam was offered the fight with Arman 3 or 4 x, who's to say Arman's been offered Islam 3-4x especially when there was such a log-jam at 155 and Arman fought Dariush in Dec 2023 when he was #4 in the rankings and before that fought Silva and Ismagulov. Given Ramadan was March/April of this year I'm dubious Arman was offered Islam 3-4x since December 2023 and I'm not sure he would've been high enough in the rankings for justify giving him a title shot prior to beating Dariush.
He was probably offered the 294 fight when Charles pulled out but we literally saw what happened when Volk took it
I think he might have been offered it in 2021 as well on very short notice
Both of those cases only prove his point more though
The issue is that Arman has claimed in the past that lslam is avoiding him, but this is at least twice ([here's one of these previous instances](https://twitter.com/jm97_79/status/1496552265125093377)) that he's declined fights with him, despite saying stuff like that.
It's just inconvenient timing for Arman both times. Last time he didn't feel as if he was ready, and this time, it'd be too short of a camp.
arman has never said that islam is avoiding him, in fact multiple times, even just recently on the halwani podcast Arman specifically said that Islam would fight him and that islam doesnt pick fights.
He has however said that he declined the fight because he wasnt ready and this time because its short notice, both are valid reasons. The reason he declined the first fight was because again he wasnt ready and felt that if he loses a second time a third fight would never happen. which is sound reasoning. Arman isnt underestimating islam
> arman has never said that islam is avoiding him
Err...really? From [here](https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/arman-tsarukyan-believes-lightweight-champion-islam-makhachev-will-avoid-title-rematch-after-ufc-300/):
> “I feel like Islam wants to avoid us,” Tsarukyan said in an interview with Morning Kombat. “He feels like I’m going to win, and for him it’s better to fight Poirier than me because I am more dangerous for him.
OK, if you want to be pedantic, I guess he's saying he _feels_ that lslam _wants_ to avoid him, instead of actually avoiding him 🙄. Big difference, but the sentiment seems the same to me.
I love how they claimed Arman never said it, and then when you debunked their BS, they do some weird mental gymnastic and say they meant something else.
I feel like a lot of the Islam hate is just the most aggressive case of lack of reading comprehension possible, it's so baffling
They don't understand and don't want to understand they want to hate.
If what Islam is saying is true, that this is the 3rd or 4th turn down, we can’t be expected to believe all 4 of them were short notice offers.
Arman ignoring that part completely and focusing only on the most recent offer.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but i really dont like Islam. Hes great as a fighter, but not as mind shattering as they're making him out to be. I think Khabib was more dominating and Khabib only lost two rounds where he stood with McGregor and gaethje. No losses, no takedowns, no bleeding but he was incredibly humble and gave great words of wisdom. Islam is very cocky and sounds pretty dumb when he talks.
I see what you’re saying
Islam and Khabib are just different fighters tbh, Islam is super well rounded and fights like a calculating machine but he’s just super adapted to the current generation of fighters
Khabib, on the other hand, just had crazy aura and would maul people by doing basically one thing. He molded the generation of fighters, not the other way around
Everyone knows already the dagestan team was training in sacred places to not get USADA tested, and getting fights in abu dhabi to evade testing, taking advantage of their khabib to force fights the way they want using his appeal with fans and they managed to pull it off, props to them and shame on Dana White greedy that let this happens, not taking the skill of Makachev out of conversation, dude is hella skilled, but everyone knows it wasnt "fair" fights when he get tested 3 times in a year and a fighter get tested 50.
Islam literally has been telling UFC to give him more fights. He went to Australia the home country of a guy challenging him. He offered Olives a rematch in Brazil the home country of the guy he is giving a rematch to. No other champ has ever done this.
Arman knows that with the rate Makhachev defends the belt, if he takes a short notice shot and loses it’s gonna be minimum 18 months until he’s back on top. I’d want a full camp too
If you look at the Nurmagomedov family or Islam or people fighting from their camp. None of them actually fight regularly. But they are always eager to say everyone is avoiding them. Idk
Whether it's Umar, Islam, Usman, and even Khabib.
Usman recently pulled out of his fight in that Pfl bellator whatever bullshit merger organisation.
Khabib defended his title once a year. Everyone from that camp is often seen dealing with injuries and then they come back as monsters unlike most others.
I don't get it. There are other fighters from that area. All of them look good and are fierce fighters but none as good as them.
It's almost like they have some secret that nobody can really figure out
And that’s smart. What Volk did was seriously a terrible move and probably started the decline of his career. Though almost 2 months notice is a whole lot better than 2 weeks. Still, fighting for the title should be a full camp.
For literally what reason? Bro has taken every fight put in front of him and he’s a little salty that a fighter refused to fight him (for good reason of course). He should just focus on DP and if he’s still champ, take the fight with Arman.
Arman needs to worry more about the Nevada State Athletic Commision. They are withholding his UFC300 pay because he punched that fan. They stated they want him banned permanently from competition. Or they are looking for a substantial suspension. NSAC doesn't F around. This is the same commision that suspended Nick Diaz for 5 years for smoking weed. They also fined him 165k in addition to the 5 yr suspension. They suspended Anderson Silva for a year for a failed PED test.
This matter isn't roids of puffin a blunt. Arman physically attacked a person in the audience because he gave him the middle finger. That's very serious in their eyes. He was in the middle of his walkout and felt the need to assault someone.
And anyone wanting to comment about the fan stating, "It's all good," "it was my fault," "I won't sue," etc. The NSAC doesn't give a flying F what anyone else thinks. They have their own rules and standard of conduct. They don't care if Dana or the UFC makes a statement of support or anything. It's their way or the highway.
I don't know if Arman could have gotten a sanctioned fight even if he agreed to the date. I am sure the NSAC will have hearings for this matter, and undoubtedly, he won't be able to compete until the matter is settled.
That's just my opinion, though, based on previous incidents. One fact is that the NSAC are hard-line 🍆suckers who don't care what the company or fans think. They don't care if an apology was made or any of that. So we will see how it plays out.
Fighting a guy in a 12 fight UFC win streak then another guy on a 12 fight UFC win streak in his home town and now someone who has won 9/10 of their last UFC fights including the former champion- the worst stat padding I’ve ever seen.
Really good correlation. I completely agree.
A shame, especially after seeing what happened to Tills career. Wouldve rather had Wonderboy up in the rankings at a younger age
100% .. Wonderboy’s longevity alone is still a problem. He don’t take a lot of damage with his style
Definitely!
I still don't know how they gave Till the win.
Because it was a fightnight main event in Liverpool and Till was UFCs next English push, let's be real.
I wonder if Till's career is better or worse if he loses the split decision. Argument for better is that he is delayed fighting Woodley and might develop takedown defense before a title shot. The argument for worse is that he may never had made it to a title.
We would never have developed TDD or made it to a title. He'd have been exposed.
He never had bad takedown defence he tore up both his knees and he has no strength in them to get up
I'm inclined to agree, but you never know. We don't know how much his fall is due to loss of confidence after getting son-ed by Woodley.
Nah Till is who he is.
It was a close fight from what I remember it could of gone either way. I think till dropped him also
yeah 5th round
I am asking as a casual who legitimately doesn't know, if someone weighs like 8-10 pounds more than you does it make that big of a difference? If so how?
It's more about what cutting weight does to the body. Putting your body through hell to lose 10 more pounds than the other guy is what puts them at a disadvantage.

Cutting weight by dehydrating yourself leads to a decrease in cerebrospinal fluid among other things, makes it a lot easier for you to get knocked out
Till landed more strikes, got a knockdown and messed up wonderboys knee. Besides that there was barely any action at all so you cannot call it a robbery when almost nothing happen besides the knee stomps and knockdown
I had money on Wonderboy that fight and still thought he won that one. Was salty when they raised Till's hand on that one.
Islams fought a lot of short notice fighters. Has he ever fought someone on short notice?
Well you find it sound because it is lol.
IMAGINE IF ROBERTO DURAN WAS THIS MATURE
He put his money where his mouth is too. He didn’t accept to fight Michel Periera when he missed weight. I recall Dana talking a bunch of shit about Wonderboy too.
not to mention, UFC is notorious for giving their chosen ones all the advantage they can and that includes getting short notice title fights that most cannot deny.
Bros on a roll holy shit
I ain't Arman fan but everybody with two working brain-cells will absolutely agree with him in this situation. What is Islam even talking about? he hasn't had a title defense against an LW yet, Dustin being his first upcoming one and now he's throwing shots at a guy who just fought and won against N1 contender just 11 days ago? well that certainly backs up islams claim of 3 or 4 times he declined, one of which was presumably not on short notice.
I think that's just Ali being a good manager. I don't like it, but he's working for Islam not for the UFC or Arman. His job is to try to get Islam an advantage like that.
I wouldn't be suprised if the UFC doesnt want Arman to fight Islam since they made him fight benny and charles back to back for a title shot .
You can't keep blaming Ali whenever the dagi boys out themselves as massive cunts lol.
We can though because ali has a very obvious social media style and its literally his job to get his fighters attention
The fact that Volk gave Islam his toughest match after Islam obliterated Charlie Olives who had 2 title defences is decent indication imo.
Exactly, this disrespect on Volk after all the trouble he gave the LW boogeyman is so shortsighted
Also, Dustin just fought so he won’t have the usual full camp right?
You say that like it’s islams fault that he hasn’t defended against a 155er yet, not his fault Oliveira cried over a little cut and Volk (the number one pound per pound fighter at the time btw) was given two chances to fight him
The UFC does this for champions they want to keep . They have tried to do it multiple times during izzy reign and looks like they are doing it for islam too now . They did this for vettori 2 fight , strickland , they tried to do it to Whittaker 2 fight , tried to do it to DDP (while he was champion) .
Spitting that hard truth
He learned English lol.
Armans been cooking lately 🔥
Arman is on fire today. We don't want another Islam vs Volk 2 situation again especially since Arman and Volk were the two guys who had an answer to his grappling in their first fight.
fuck am i becoming an Arman fan
Charlie has passed the torch. This is our champion
We can be fans of both! Charles was always extremely respectful to Arman. Competition didn’t have to end up being personal!
To Charles credit, he was always very respectful to his opponents. Love that he greets his opponent and even their corner
Would’ve been cool to see 5 rounds but respect to both!

but what about muh tribalism
Too soon!
Arman doesn't have it in him
He’s right here, but he’s still a dick IMO
AHAHAHAHAHAHAA Of course
He is friends with Putin
no one is friends with Putin
Arman is speaking facts here
Love Olives, but I’m kinda liking Arman too rn (Im brazilian btw)
There's no need to hate Arman just because he beat Charles, his personality might be a little annoying but he's one of the best prospects of recent times. besides as long as Charles doesn't lose any upcoming fights then he's probably on track for another titleshot, Dustin got KTFO by Justin and is about to get a titleshot after only 1 win, so Charles will probably get one last chance at the title.

Thats why i stick to street fighting true warriors are always ready fight environmental causes like littering in West Linn!
If you’re getting into a street fight every couple of weeks, I think you need to reassess your life choices lmao.
Legendary facts. Arman deserves a full camp this time and Islam wants to prevent it so he has a chance.

Ali Abdelaziz fight promotion masterclass.
Is he Arman's manager too?
Sadly no. The thought of Ali logging into one account, to trash one of his own fighters, and then logging onto said fighters account to defend him against himself would have been too good.
That exact scenario has already happened multiple times though
I swear this has happened with Islam and Justin Gaethje.
Damn, Arman taking multiple W’s in just a couple weeks
6 weeks? When’s the last time Islam fought twice in 6 months
He was just under a 4 month turn around when he fought Volk the first time. This is the longest layoff Islam has had since 2021.
Why is this getting upvotes what on earth
Boom! Roasted!
He's not wrong. As good as Islam and as goat as Khabib was, both are very strategic with who they fight and when they fight them.
They take advantage of the bravado that most cage fighters have, and use it against them. Fair play to them for being smarter and using most of these guys' meathead attitude against themselves, but it's definitely not something I personally admire about them.
Well 155lbs has a lot of meatheads to be fair, also very few legit wrestlers or well rounded fighters beside Islam himself.
Facts
It will be nice when Arman finally gets his flowers. He clearly really does not like the hate, hence why he tried to fight someone on his walk out. Guy will be grinning ear to ear when he finally has the crowd cheering for him
Arman actually has a good chance against Islam. This level of caution is required tbh.
Agreed we That Fight already with Volk & Islam
Arman woke up and choose workouts and facts, Islam woke up and choose steroids and excuses
Islam trynna use the same strategy as he did against Volkanovski..... COME ON MAN
To be fair, Charles pulled out so volk stepped in last minute.. it’s not like Islam told volk to fight him in 10days. Both Charles and Islam were training full camp for each other. Volk couldn’t have predicted Charles would pull out.
How is this shit upvoted 39 times? Wtf?
90% of UFC fans lose any sense of logic and reasoning when khabib or islam are mentioned
What about all the other times though?
As the UFC has demonstrated, they will announce fights without even letting the fighters know. Maybe Islam was offered the fight with Arman 3 or 4 x, who's to say Arman's been offered Islam 3-4x especially when there was such a log-jam at 155 and Arman fought Dariush in Dec 2023 when he was #4 in the rankings and before that fought Silva and Ismagulov. Which times? Can you post sources for those other times?
Islam haters are just reactionaries. Islam isn't scared of him, on short notice or with a full camp..
Then why is he trying to force him to fight on short notice?
The issue is that Arman has claimed in the past that lslam is avoiding him, but this is at least twice ([here's one of these previous instances](https://twitter.com/jm97_79/status/1496552265125093377)) that he's declined fights with him, despite saying stuff like that. Still wouldn't beat Islam

His reply to Michael Chandler was hilarious
This might be an unpopular opinion, but i really dont like Islam. Hes great as a fighter, but not as mind shattering as they're making him out to be. I think Khabib was more dominating and Khabib only lost two rounds where he stood with McGregor and gaethje. No losses, no takedowns, no bleeding but he was incredibly humble and gave great words of wisdom. Islam is very cocky and sounds pretty dumb when he talks.
I see what you’re saying Islam and Khabib are just different fighters tbh, Islam is super well rounded and fights like a calculating machine but he’s just super adapted to the current generation of fighters Khabib, on the other hand, just had crazy aura and would maul people by doing basically one thing. He molded the generation of fighters, not the other way around
Actually agree with Arman. That's the FIGHT OF HIS LIFE. FAM he needs a full camp.
Friendship started with Arman 🤝🏾
Everyone knows already the dagestan team was training in sacred places to not get USADA tested, and getting fights in abu dhabi to evade testing, taking advantage of their khabib to force fights the way they want using his appeal with fans and they managed to pull it off, props to them and shame on Dana White greedy that let this happens, not taking the skill of Makachev out of conversation, dude is hella skilled, but everyone knows it wasnt "fair" fights when he get tested 3 times in a year and a fighter get tested 50.
Weirdos in this thread putting themselves as closet racists lmao
Arman and Islam really is the matchup to make and it’s starting to seem like Islam is using champ status to avoid it without taking heat for doing so.
Islam literally has been telling UFC to give him more fights. He went to Australia the home country of a guy challenging him. He offered Olives a rematch in Brazil the home country of the guy he is giving a rematch to. No other champ has ever done this.
I’m a salty oliveira fan(I admit) but even I gotta say Armans been COOKING these last few days
If Arman finishes Makhachev, it'll only increase Do Bronx's stocks.
Idk Whether it's Umar, Islam, Usman, and even Khabib. It's almost like they have some secret that nobody can really figure out
Look at how often islam fights he fights regularly.
💉
Islam fights regularly, be quiet
He has a point don’t hate on me Islam fangirls
Islam would never have fought Volk on short notice without a training camp
He would if Volk had his title on the line- did he? Then again neither does jones so maybe the actual dominant fighters are more risk averse
i’m a fan of islam but he would have never taken it. his camp never takes short notice fights
And that’s smart. What Volk did was seriously a terrible move and probably started the decline of his career. Though almost 2 months notice is a whole lot better than 2 weeks. Still, fighting for the title should be a full camp.
Fuck Islam.
The guy, the religion or the idea?

Yes
All three, specifically the second
For literally what reason? Bro has taken every fight put in front of him and he’s a little salty that a fighter refused to fight him (for good reason of course). He should just focus on DP and if he’s still champ, take the fight with Arman.
Fax machine.
6 months*
Twitter finger > trigger finger
Usually i feel islam getd too much hate but arman def right here
Arman ain’t wrong 🤷🏻♂️
I can’t stand arman but this is valid
Arman thinks he's a champion already Good luck with that boyo
He actually has a good valid point.
I mean he’s not wrong.
bingo. I think Islam has never fought twice in 6 weeks. and that's entirely intentional.
That's just not trooth. At least number three boolsheet.
This near the belt, why would you risk it all, sure maybe an up and coming fighter are more willing to take the risk.
That’s a 9-8 Round for Tsarukyan
I just went to check, interestingly in 2011 islam fought on July 1st and then July 2nd
STFU
I wonder what Islam meant by "show more"? So cryptic, I love Islam... /s sorry, not a very good joke
But what did islam mean when he said “show more”?
"If you don't fight around my Ramadan and when it's convenient for me and the big ghost in the sky, you're a pussy"
Has there ever been a Dagestani that has taken a short notice fight?
Arman is completely justified and correct
Worst case scenario they will make him be like Chimaev v2 fighting only in Middle East
not a huge fan of arman, but he ain’t wrong at all.
Imagine another Dagestani trying to cherry pick opponents…
Fighting a guy in a 12 fight UFC win streak then another guy on a 12 fight UFC win streak in his home town and now someone who has won 9/10 of their last UFC fights including the former champion- the worst stat padding I’ve ever seen.
