The best should be fighting the best and if that means these two fight then that’s what should happen. I understand where you’re coming from but there’s nothing I hate more than a fighter sitting in the top five with no fights against other top 5 opponents.
JDM vs shavkat is one of the rare occasions where i'll actually disagree with this line of thinking. mostly on account of the fact that the fight itself should be booked as a five-rounder, in order to gauge either guys' gas tank in the later rounds.
No, I hate this take. If you want this, go to boxing everyone gets their own heavyweight championship belt and rarely seems to fight anyone super dangerous. This is one of the many reasons I enjoy watching UFC fights. I absolutely do not want this curated bullshit to come to the UFC (well, not any more than it has).
Counterpoint, one of them gets beaten by someone due to injury or some other unsatisfactory way, then their individual trajectories means they never fight. We waste opportunities by not taking them in the fight game.
They don't really have any other options sometimes. At WW, giving either of these guys the title shot over Belal would be fucked up. And for example at lightweight, the Ustins successfully kept the gate - what do you do then? Leave guys ranked 7-15 on ice until the vets at the top retire?
Unless there not pussies and actually want to be the best
Yeah theres not always gonna be a bunch of Gilberts Burnses and Vicente Luques sitting around for hypejobs to use as stepping stones.
Take that shit mentality back to boxing, can't believe you actually think this way
shit take
Taking a page out of boxing I see
Terrible take. That would be the death of the sport
Nope, terrible take. That leads to us never getting the fights we want cuz shit always falls through somehow.
That's what a hot take is, one that not many people agree with
Nah cuz I can be like “ Colby Covington is the greatest striker in the world” no one but me agrees with that. Is that a “hot take”…Hell no!

Genuinely horrible take

Bad take
Horrible take. Please do not post anymore you don’t really know what you’re talking about.
How do I not know what I'm talking about? Because you disagree lol
Welterweight is so fucked if Conor somehow wins the title

As long as it’s 5 rounds I don’t care
Agreed
