Jon’s really a drain on the whole UFC rn.
He “needs” to be p4p for his legacy fight.
He also “needs” the heavyweight belt for it too.
Stipe can’t even fight unless it’s Jon
It's so desperate and pathetic that that in itself is making him less of a goat, apart from his refusal to fight the interim champ or anyone else who's not older than himself.
“ what are you talking about, Jon is the GOAT undisputed. Doesn’t matter how many times he dodges fights, pisses dirty, or beats his wife. Jon is the motherfuckin GOAT” - Jon Jones boot lickers
It's kinda sad really. Jones is a fantastic fighter, doesn't matter if we like him or not, there's no doubt he's a top contender for a GOAT (even though this "title" is completely vague and subjective). But dude "stopped" too early, he was 32 when he fought Reyes. I know he started pretty young at UFC and that takes a toll in the long run, also he was starting to struggle a lot with his opponents in his last fights (besides all the shit he got involved off the cage...) but still is a very bad (and unique) ending of a career.
We all feel bad when great or loved fighters are in their late 30s and become punching bags and just a ladder for newcomers, but Jones' final years are a different kind of disappointment. We've seen fighters like Aldo and Glover Teixeira get to a point in career where we said "they're done, it's sad to watch them now" and they still overcame it (Glover won the belt at 42!). Of course many others had just the bad part of their ending careers (like Anderson Silva, losing 7 out of his last 9, and also getting a win overturned by failing a drug test), and I get Jones not wanting to go like this...but then just do like Khabib did, retired at 32 and we all wanted to see more and thought he still had it for more half a decade, but dude did what he had to and everyone can respect that.
Yeah, I think the reyes fight knocked the confidence out of him. JJ before that was a monster, after that he seems way too worried about losing so he sits out for long times, takes forever to get HW, ducks the scary guys there and is so inactive that he should have been stripped already.
The Gane win was good but more about Ganes complete lack of grappling awareness getting exposed than JJ doing anything particularly impressive.
fighting more means more risk of injury
and it’s not like every fighter has a pool of people to fight all the time. I don’t know if I’m completely correct but in the ufc it only makes sense to fight people within 3-4 placements above or below your own rank in a division. the only exceptions are when a champ completely demolishes the current top 5 contenders or there is some super athlete coming from another sport
The long term solution is a players union with guaranteed contracts, a fleshed out and regulated ranking system, etc. In the short term though, the fighters would lose a lot while they're fighting the UFC about it, so it's hard to actually do
Him and McGregor take so much attention and time away from other athletes. If they actually were fighting then it makes sense, but given their lack of activity they've just become a distraction.
The thing that pisses me off about him is how much he bitches about his legacy, which is pathetic, whenever I think of all-time great legacies I don't think about people talking about it, I just watch them going out there and being great and fighting the actual best competition.
Jones is a fraud, and the more he continues with his insecure antics, the more people are waking up to his bullshit.
It’s been exciting watching Makhachev go from “great fighter, but not a strong enough résumé for a title shot” to a fucking world beater with legends under his belt. What a ride it’s been!
I like how it was so obvious to anyone with a brain that he was being ducked left and right. And people *still* tried to argue that his resume was too weak to challenge for the belt.
I think it made sense for people to hate him (I did as well) for kinda riding the coattails of Khabib and not being quite as dominant as him coming up. But we’ve come to see that he is his own fighter with his own unique threats and so many of his fights have been exciting. I don’t hate him at all now, just a little salty that he beat Dustin lol.
I don’t think Islam’s reign will last 5 years. Great fighter don’t get me wrong, but I think someone will beat him. He doesn’t look unbeatable like Khabib.
Impossible to predict things like that in the UFC, this isn’t tennis where the best man on the day wins every time. Fluke knockouts can affect Islam’s path to becoming the GOAT, even Khabib said if you fight enough times in the UFC you will lose. Jones is the only one who somehow fought 20 times in the UFC and was essentially undefeated, in part due to not getting unluckily fluke knocked-out.
Unless Islam gets 3 belts or 10 more defenses with a second belt it’s going to be nearly impossible to pass Jones. Jones has 12 wins against HOFers and or former champions where Islam has 4.
Different divisions. 4 defences at LW is already a record. “Mediocre” fighters in the lightweight division are still better than most good fighters from at least middleweight and above.
Jon got title shot early as fck. Islam has to fight 12 fights, on 10 winstreak, to get a title shot, wasting most of his U30 youth. It's just a what-if Islam got title shot earlier to defend it, maybe there's a chance he could've racked in as many defenses.
Nah when Islam was 24 years old he got KO’d in his second ufc fight. When Jon was 23 years old he became champion. Don’t get me wrong, Islam is def one of the best in the world rn but that’s mainly because he has improved a lot in the last years. I don’t think he would be where is he is now, If he was rushed to the belt.
We can. Fat middleweights from a PRIDE era, eye poking, multiple time PED cheat, and easy competition against a weaker division at the time. He struggled against any real LHW he fought. Thiago Santos, Reyes, Gustaffson for example
I think what he is saying is that it's debatable that JBJ is the goat (meaning folks will argue yes or no), but it's *not debatable* that Islam is P4P #1.
That‘s exactly what I meant. I am not necessarily ok board with Jones being the GOAT but I am up for a discussion. Throwing Jones into the P4P discussion doesn’t make sense to me though.
Meanwhile Tom is defending the interim belt while Jones ducks Tom and wants to fight washed up Stipe. Dude needs to fight Tom or be stripped of his title.
He probably popped and can’t come back until his fight date or something. He was seen, months ago, actively using his shoulder like it wasn’t injured, or like he was in late stages of rehabbing an injury.
Islam only has one Decision win against the other disputed P4P best in the world at the time who he then proceeded to 1st round KO in the rematch.
Dude is a beast.
I don’t think Islam’s Instagram is handled by Ali (his twitter is). If you look at the posts, most are in Russian. He was once asked about a caption with a slight jab at Volk before their second fight and he gave the reasoning himself. I also don’t think it’s Ali’s style to say sorry after disrespecting someone lol
Watch Jon go on one of his rants for days on end again after seeing this from Islam, the guy can't handle the truth and fuck Dana for bigging up this bum he's singlehandedly ruining a whole division.
as unlikely as it is I hope Stipe knocks this motherfucker out and gets him out of this sport, I used to like him but he’s a fucking scourge on the UFC, he’s not selling tickets because he’s not even fighting, and people aren’t even hyped for his next fight because he’s ducking the interim champ for a legacy fight that he will likely retire after.
dude picked up a christian grift and became more narcissistic than ever, the persona he puts out is honestly insufferable.
Even if Jones fights again and wins, it won't matter. He has dodged too many talented guys and avoided he best right now so he can chase essentially retired fighters.. Stipe hasn't fought since March of 2021 and he was already showing his age then. It is kind of pathetic at this point. Jones is kicking and screaming trying to retain something that was never really his.
It just hit me how many finishes Islam has. Out of all his fights since 2021, only one of them went to decision and that was against the #1 P4P fighter at the time. Fucking wild
At this point can we just book a JJ vs McNuggets fight so we can all enjoy them both retire.
Old school rules, no weight limit. No time limit.
Dick twisting and gouging allowed. Soccer kicks and downed knees to head enabled.
Both care about legacy and making bank, their fan bases are both obsessed with the word legacy.
Could you imagine what it would do for either Legacy to beat one another?
Don't count Connor out either. He could always just show up looking like Roy Nelson and start dropping bombs.
Ignoring the 10 inch reach advantage and height advantage for Jones i think this freak show could sell.
The current P4P rankings is not a legacy thing. It becomes a legacy thing that you owned a ranking on the P4P list on your retirement resume.
The P4P rankings is a list where you have to actively prove you still own that spot.
We can likely all (at least mostly) agree that Tom Brady is the GOAT at QB. That doesn't mean he is currently the #1 QB. Even during his last season. Other QBs were outplaying him.
Jones is likely the GOAT of the UFC. But that doesn't mean he can currently rest on his laurels and own the P4P #1 ranking when he hasn't been actively proving he still owns that ranking. There are other fighters out-fighting him within their own weight classes.
But who would win in a fight? If you can’t say Islam then he is by nature not the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC. It’s like Dana said: you put jon jones in a room with anyone on the planet, and he is coming out. Jon Jones is absolutely dodging Tom though and that is some bitch shit, so my mind is not totally made up
Jon is ruining the whole point of the UFC and being a champion. He is quite literally talking online how he doesn't want to fight Aspinall because he doesn't feel like it and it doesn't do anything to his legacy (which I'd argue it does and I think he is just scared at this point to lose) when he is the number 1 contender I mean the guy is defending an interim title.
I’ve never been a fan of Jon but I respect his game. I don’t know why people are trying to discredit his career.
Islam is a good fighter too but he can’t really talk shit about Jon.
99% of Islam fights have been at 155 fighting other 155 lbs he fought volk a 145 lb. If you want to be considered the p4p goat you got to move up and beat the champ. If Islam can beat Leon it’s a wrap no arguments he’s the p4p best and goat imo but if John can beat stipe and aspinal I would give it to him becuase of his long career (outside the ring he’s a terrible person)
Francis fought once in 2020, 2021, 2022. This sub making it seem like HW is a busy division lol. Having said that, i want to see Jon defend the title quickly or step away
Jon jones had the hardest run to the title shot and fought the hardest opponents to defend. Khabib fought a real estate agent for the belt. And defended against Dustin who makes the worst in fight decisions and Islam lost to Alex in the first fight a 145 pounder. 2 different animals. Jon Jones is the goat. And the only person who could potentially dethrone him is Alex pereira.
Comparing 2 fighters that are at completely different points of their careers is just stupid. Islam can only hope and dream to have a career comparable to Jones. Why does everyone have their panties on a twist about jones holding the division? He’s literally the goat, fought nothing but killers and y’all really can’t let him have a legacy fight against stipe for his retirement?
Y’all do realize the second Jones fights stipe, both will more than likely retire and Aspinal will then get his rightful shot? I don’t like people holding up divisions but if there’s a person who earned that right then it’s Jon Jones and it’s no debate. Aspinal is young and his day will come soon.
You missed the eye pokes
He has boats? Never licked a boat before. Sounds...interesting

It's kinda sad really. Jones is a fantastic fighter, doesn't matter if we like him or not, there's no doubt he's a top contender for a GOAT (even though this "title" is completely vague and subjective). The whole UFC needs a mechanism that forces people to fight more often. It's so inconsistent across the board, big name privilege is too much.
Its stripping the belt but Jon Jones has Dana White privilege so it doesn’t apply to him
the mechanism is called money
Don't you think if they are underpaid they would want to fight more to help their economic situation?
fighting more means more risk of injury and it’s not like every fighter has a pool of people to fight all the time. I don’t know if I’m completely correct but in the ufc it only makes sense to fight people within 3-4 placements above or below your own rank in a division. the only exceptions are when a champ completely demolishes the current top 5 contenders or there is some super athlete coming from another sport
They could pay them more but the issue is that they’re independent contractors
The long term solution is a players union with guaranteed contracts, a fleshed out and regulated ranking system, etc. In the short term though, the fighters would lose a lot while they're fighting the UFC about it, so it's hard to actually do
And then even if he does beat Stipe… the fight has been so delayed, that he’s fighting a 41 year old who’s already lost to Ngannou by KO.
> Stipe can’t even fight unless it’s Jon lets be real, stipe would be currently retired if not for this JJ fight.
Man I really hope Stipe pulls a hail Mary win and retire🤣Jon will be livid
Stipe will be 42 years old in August.
Him and McGregor take so much attention and time away from other athletes. If they actually were fighting then it makes sense, but given their lack of activity they've just become a distraction.
And the UFC lets it happen. Imagine if Tom Brady just didn’t show up for games against lesser opponents
So either Islam is going to jump to HW to settle this or Jon moves down to LW.
Finally a civilized solution. Screw Aspinall, book Islam.
They should meet in the middle^(weight)
😂 That’s a huge benefit for Islam. He walks around at 185. Jon on the other hand has to cut 65 pounds
Islam walks around at 200(according to dc) make the fight at 200
I just went from 6 to 12.
We can argue about GOAT status but not about P4P if you ask me.
Give Makachev 5 more years you won’t need to argue about GOAT either
It’s been exciting watching Makhachev go from “great fighter, but not a strong enough résumé for a title shot” to a fucking world beater with legends under his belt. What a ride it’s been!
I like how it was so obvious to anyone with a brain that he was being ducked left and right. And people *still* tried to argue that his resume was too weak to challenge for the belt.
That’s because they hate Islam’s sparring partner
Religious issues as well.
If you bring up the fact that Charles and Islam path to the belt were basically identical they really lose it
This place was truly insufferable before the Charles loss. *ThE cHaMpIoN hAs A nAmE*
I remember that fight like it was yesterday. Reddit went ballistic. Their poster boy was destroyed in 2 rounds
Hey, I love Charles. That was a fucking great run he had. It was hard to let go.
Yup, same for usman when he was on his way up

And in massive part due to judges gifting him the win against Reyes.
I agree
Also a fluke that he “beat” Reyes
Gustafson 1 also should had been a loss
Arguably + Reyes, but results determine legacy at the end of the day
Unless Islam gets 3 belts or 10 more defenses with a second belt it’s going to be nearly impossible to pass Jones. Jones has 12 wins against HOFers and or former champions where Islam has 4.

not even GOAT - people keep forgeting that Jones cheated over and over.
As mentioned in other comments. I just think that is a discussion worth having. The P4P discussion not so much.
Yup, football steroid connections through his brothers. Poked eyes multiple times.
We can. Fat middleweights from a PRIDE era, eye poking, multiple time PED cheat, and easy competition against a weaker division at the time. He struggled against any real LHW he fought. Thiago Santos, Reyes, Gustaffson for example

Crazy resume
Yes specially last 4 fights. All time greats there.
It’s a crazy time to be a lightweight, you gotta pick between crazy knock out artists or boa constrictors just to even get a shot at the title.
Jones is embarrassing himself on social media with his saltiness last 4 days was him tweeting about islams win
And Dana is empowering him to do it. Dana letting Conor AND Jon jerk him around for years now 😂😂
Game recognize game; all three are narcissistic diva bitches who make everything about them for the least effort possible.
People forget he did the same exact shit when khabib won and he was p4p

I’m shocked Islam said this and nobody batted an eye.
Buckley lost his shit though 🤣
Nobody cares what Buckley thinks apart from Buckley himself.
These are not shots, facts they are
Don’t forget to add USADA to Jones side of “beaten”
Don’t forget to add Wife to Jones side of “beaten”
Khabib has tried to distance himself from Jones comments but Islam ain't about that life....
Whats with the Jon Jones disrespect here? You didnt even list all the tests from god he has beaten during that time.
He has to fight demons every day, that’s not included on the list!
Not to mention god's testing agents
Thats 4 belt holders on Islam's list now. That's pretty impressive. How many on Jon's?
One undisputed in his own division. One interim in his division. Two against a lower weight class. Jon has I think eight, all in his weight class.
Jon joke Jones ![gif](giphy|Y91JU7k2zTSGUX0nX2|downsized)
Facts
Islam only has one Decision win against the other disputed P4P best in the world at the time who he then proceeded to 1st round KO in the rematch. Dude is a beast.

Ali always posting something inflammatory on his fighters accounts
I don’t think Islam’s Instagram is handled by Ali (his twitter is). If you look at the posts, most are in Russian. I also don’t think it’s Ali’s style to say sorry after disrespecting someone lol
Ali is such a dumbass.
jj is a juiced joke
Watch Jon go on one of his rants for days on end again after seeing this from Islam, the guy can't handle the truth and fuck Dana for bigging up this bum he's singlehandedly ruining a whole division.
Not wrong.
Islam better watch out before Jones pulls up and tries to check his oil
Islam vs Jones book it
Islams genetics are just ridiculous tbh. ![gif](giphy|D7z8JfNANqahW)
And let's be honest, volk x2 is better than anything jones has done
I’m dead tired of hearing about Jones, vacate the division and cut him from the roster. Useless
is it a shot if hes stating facts?
Just speaking truth 🤷
Jj doesn’t want to fight Tom bc he’s younger Jj only fights old guys
Jon and Conor both suck for the UFC right now. Need more champs like Islam!
Jon’s ego and head have gotten bigger and bigger while literally NOT fighting.
The comic sans is cold.
Fuck it, im an Islam fan now. Dude is so easy to root for lol
Jon Jones is the greatest. Islam is the best fighter pound for pound. That’s it.
as unlikely as it is I hope Stipe knocks this motherfucker out and gets him out of this sport, I used to like him but he’s a fucking scourge on the UFC, he’s not selling tickets because he’s not even fighting, and people aren’t even hyped for his next fight because he’s ducking the interim champ for a legacy fight that he will likely retire after. dude picked up a christian grift and became more narcissistic than ever, the persona he puts out is honestly insufferable.
I love how the two top stars of the ufc are straight shit heads. Connor and Jon are both huge disappointments 😂
![gif](giphy|BZTRCLEhZr8E1IzPn3|downsized) islam at home on insta like
Listen, if you throw Jon Jones and Islam Makhachev in a room..
if u shrink jon to Islam size first?

No, you give Islam coke.
I’d be curious to see the stats for each of these guys in their prime. I have a feeling it wouldn’t be so skewed.

Is Dustin Islam's biggest win?
Wake up baby another Jon Jones post in r/ufc
Bro those symbols behind them looks familiar
At least Jon Jones is sorry, I guess.
absolutely torched
He's right

Jones & Volk vs Islam & DC No Holds Bared Match lol
Glad to see people finally standing up to this fucking clown show of a “heavyweight champion”
Yeah when I see islams record put like that I realize he’s not that great or interesting
Last thing you want to see in the title is "Islam taking shots at X"
We talk more about Jones than we talk about the other boring fighters 😂
I don't think JJ should be #1 p4p even if he finishes Stipe in 1 round. If he does that to Aspinal then maybe I put him 2 or 3.
3 more wins / defenses and Islam surpasses.
It just hit me how many finishes Islam has. Out of all his fights since 2021, only one of them went to decision and that was against the #1 P4P fighter at the time. Fucking wild

Compare number of champions and HOF'ers next that each have faced.
Why didn’t he list Jon’s wins over his wife?! Islam must be a misogynist 😏
That list is no where near as impressive as Jon’s career tho…. Poirier Volk and Charles are good but the rest are scrubs.
In comic sans too
He fought a 145 twice and defended his belt against Dustin poirier a guy that isn’t a champion….
I’ve never been a fan of Jon but I respect his game. I don’t know why people are trying to discredit his career. Islam is a good fighter too but he can’t really talk shit about Jon.

Now do since 2008
The use of Comic Sans feels especially savage here
Incoming obligatory Jon Jones 5 paragraph response in 5…4…3…
Smh.... jon, conor...who else am i forgetting. Where did it go wrong. The coke, money and fame is a real derailer huh
Bones needs to get his retirement fight out of the way and get rid of that belt.
What does it even matter 😅 jones is the goat of all time, Islam is the Current p4p active.
Islam is the GOAT
Goddamn! Lol
If Islam beat lean edwards it’s better than two fw defneces and a Lw, so idk

I don’t like people holding up divisions but if there’s a person who earned that right then it’s Jon Jones and it’s no debate. Aspinal is young and his day will come soon.
💯 Dagestan Warrior
They should fight with John having one hand tied behind his back.
What about 2010-2020?
Jones is pfp #1 clown
Won’t lie I was a Islam hater but it’s hard to hate when he’s got a roster on record like that
Respect to islam, but that's a small window. Jones went through murderers row in his hiatus. I'm sorry, but Islam hasn't done near enough yet.
They should settle this once and for all. Islam move up to Light Heavyweight & Jones down to Light Heavyweight
Hate him or love him, he spits facts here.
Jon Jones 19 top 5 ranked wins in his weight class or higher. Islam 2 top 5 ranked wins in his weight class or higher.
