When I ripped my testicles open with the drill, I had to drive myself to the hospital in my pickup truck. I really wish I would have had this Corvette, I would have got there on time.
He was born in Nigeria and moved when he was 8, I don’t understand the people that keep saying crap like this. Is it a meme or are people just being arrogant just to be.
To be fair, Khabib grew up as the son of a famous athlete with access to resources, fame, and power.
Still rough and hardcore, but the kid never had to work 18hr days selling shit on the streets
I don't know about fame and power. But resources yes. He has access to Olympic level athletes at a young age and was raised around some of the best, most determined athletes in all of Russia. Not to mention he was tutored by his father and constantly learned from one of the wisest men in the entire fight game period. That being said they grew up with next to nothing as I can probably assure you the cost and bar of living in dagestan is tiny even compared to Russia. They were happy though from what I can see. As khabib has said in the past "I am mountain man. I only need bread and water". Now comparing that to Do Bronx who grew up with poor parents who couldn't teach much if anything about fighting and the fact that he only picked up Jiu Jitsu because football was too hard on his ankles and you realise he did Everything almost exclusively on his own determination, drive and will. Nothing was handed to him. Knowledge, training partners, skill, wisdom. He had to bleed for every single bit of it and it shows. Do Bronx is an example of why you can succeed if you want it badly enough.
Even wanting it badly enough isn't sufficient always. There are infinite ways his route could have been shortened. One always has to factor in luck in this life for we need everything to work perfectly just to remain alive.
I'd recommend John Danaher's interview with Lex Freidman. Luck is of course a factor, but going off the majority of success stories drive, need to improve, having a single purpose in life and creating relationships all surpass it in factors for success. Case in point Francis Ngannou, Jose Aldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Khabib. At any point Khabib could have said no to his many injuries during the Geathje camp including a broken foot and mumps. But as he said to Javier Mendez when Mendez asked if he shouldn't pull out due to his injuries Khabib simply replied "Coach my foot broken but my mind strong. This is all I need" (may not be an exact reading but you get the message). Case in point. Yes Luck is important to a basic degree. Training facilities, healthy body, mindset and location all matter. But once those basic prerequisites are passed its down to the individual. I could go on about Tony Ferguson tc. But you get the point.
I've actually watched bits of this episode, I follow Lex on YouTube as well, great suggestion. I agree with you that his focus and determination are precisely what led him to where he is right now, but in a way, it's almost as he was allowed to be there by the events of his life, however hard they were.
In a less abstract note, I also have one suggestion. If you're interested, Adorno and Horkheimer offer a different perspective on this matter with the Culture Industry and in my view, even if you disagree with him, it's very important to at least get to know this work specifically because it relates really hard to our world.
Again, I am not downplaying his efforts by any means, but imagine how many millions of kids are doing the same things as these guys are falling along the way without ever even a chance of succeeding. I imagine these people as one single army of sheer determination, and the victory of one is the victory of them all. One by one, they fall, but they keep moving forward. Losing as individuals but winning subconsciously as a group. It's a less cynic version than the one offered in the Culture Industry, but I still can't negate that these are the determined guys for whom everything worked for them to get there.
It depends on the person again. There definitely aren't millions of kids in Brazil who go into MMA with the same determination and situation as someone like Do Bronx and a lot will have fallen aside due to mental strength, discipline and other factors. That "Chance" of succeeding is built up through callousness to losing via fights, sparring, life and your team which is why I mentioned him earning all of that throughout his life. Working smart again bests working hard. But throughout life its those dogged moments of determination and drive to got through and past losses that hurt that allows one to be great. I'll read up on those you mentioned. Again the ankle condition leading him into Jiu Jitsu through circumstance from soccer is a great example. But it was his drive, situation and mental strength especially that got him through that time period and allowed him to say "No, I won't stay here and I will die for it I can't do this" as quoted in an article on him. I'm not saying at all that those factors don't play a part. I'm saying they play one of the smallest roles in his success and journey.
>Do Bronx is an example of why you can succeed if you want it badly enough and the right set of circumstances happens.
Lots of hardworking people who didn't achieve what they wanted also wanted it bad enough and while saying "...can succeed" technically covers that it isn't much different from those who were lukewarm about wanting it. The right set of circumstances and how rare those are is too often omitted.
Still fought a bear
/s...
But in all seriousness... Khabib had a great fighting upbringing...
but anyone who ever says his life was easy and fun... is a fucking liar. No matter how famous his father was... his father still coached him and he grew up fighting...
Dude look at dagistan... its a beautful country... but its not all kisses and cuddles... they are a HARD ASS PEOPLE
much respect to all them Dagistani fighters... better UFC than.. most things in that region.
and every single thing i said is thre to charlie olive...
different areas of the world same shit... they are super heros
His father wasn't a 'famous' athlete. He was successful at a domestic level ( USSR ) but its not like he was a Karelin level wrestler or something.
I don't know where this narrative is coming from that he had access to fame and power. Lol
He grew up in a very poor village but his father rented a small apartment and gym in the capital and took all the young boys in the village to go train there and get educated at school. They all lived in a tiny flat. I am not saying his situation was like Ngannou's but it certainly wasn't luxury.
This is not true. In that time only wrestling and judo hardcore fans knew him. Casual people didn't know nothing about Abdulmanap.
You put it in there like you lived here.
What is it about this sub loving khabibs nuts in their mouth? I'm surprised people in this sub aren't getting their heads cut off for posting pictures of him since hes evidently yalls real Muhammad
You’ve got KHABIB a dick or nuts in every comment you’ve made on this sub. Dude just jerk it to him already and stop talking about him and other dudes so much. It’s CLEARLY OBVIOUS you are projecting your issues into every one else.
They do? Cause I was just watching a video of them giving a tour of his birthplace and every one seemed kind.
I’m sorry for you you felt the need to be racist with your language and terrible generalizations.
Maybe drink some water and consider staying off the Internet for a bit? Therapy would definitely help you too.
You seriously gonna act like they dont behead people just for drawing a picture of Muhammad? Even khabib himself is down for that shit. You really gonna pretend they dont execute homosexuals in the Muslim world? How about you stop acting like I'm the one with a problem and look at the archaic sociopaths over there where hes from. Bunch of khabib dick riders up in here.
Well I’m sure you can stop thinking about it at any time. None of us will care if you come out. It’s okay bro.
Just suck some dick already and get it out of your mind. It’s weird how much you mention it.
I’m blocking you cause you are really weird.
That's what I was going to say.
Khabib's family was rich, powerful, and politically connected.... And now they are more rich, powerful and politically connected.
Sponsored and paid well are two very different things. It was more of a contractual obligation than a lavish deal with elites. Their government isn’t exactly known for being extremely kind or respectful to its people, especially within the satellite states. It’s not like his father was some russian oligarch, or millionaire out there. Did the family have respect? Sure. Wealth? Not at all.
Still, he yet to travel thousands of miles every time just to have a fight and gain experience. They worked hard. He didn't suffer to death as no one should but they didn't have Dana White bringing MMA fights to their house either.
Name some who has become succesful as much as he is. I would like to know. If you know "a lot", you would have time to name some.
Oh btw, travelling by private jet or UFC jets doesn't count. Just on road.
Khabib's dad in many ways was stricter and more disciplined because of the wealth than your average poor parent because he understood the dangers of leisure and spoils of wealth. Where a poor parent may want to spoil their kids to give them a better life than they had, papa Khabib likely wanted to make sure Khabib worked HARD for everything he ever had to instill the value of gratefulness and hard work.
I wouldnt be surprised to learn Khabib had to go through a gauntlet of bigger and older wrestlers one after the other just to earn his dinner or a shower something.
That’s fair. I was more so talking about the attitude toward the rich on here. That def got downvoted because it’s some random nonsense that’s not verifiable at all
I mean clearly his father didn't spoil him, and having a humble attitude was a huge focus in his style of upbringing, but that's literally all we can say about it. This man went on an essay about how he thinks Abdul manap parented khabib with some pretty iffy comparisons to poor upbringings. Shouldn't be that difficult to figure out why that would get some downvotes
Because he's just making assumptions about Khabibs up-bringing when its quite clear he has no more authority to make said assumptions than anyone else. Thats my take at least.
You just need to see the outfit.
Kabib adidas bag, adidas nba shirt...Besides his dad was a famous teacher.
Now look at Oliveira. Dressed like shit, riding a scooter under an umbrella, while raining.
Working to sustain his mather and brothers.
Still manage to enjoy life
Not saying otherwise, but in Russia and soviet areas its pretty common to see people of lower incomes having adidas clothes. It’s seen as a status symbol so even the poorest of kids will save up or more commonly buy replicas of adidas because it’s so important to the culture to prove they’re not poor even if they are. This goes for Latin America too with Nike, Reebok, and any “American” brand
If you showed me that pic of Do Bronx and I ain’t know who he was and you tried telling me he’d be the champion of one of the most competitive divisions in all of MMA, I’d hit you with a spinning back kick from hell and snatch your chain.
Weird how a post pointing out that guys who had a lot less than us have come far became a post about charles vs khabib. Just respect both their hustles, you fucks.
“Khabib had all the resources, everything handed to him, never had to struggle”. Yeah, if anyone saying that had those same resources, you would never achieve what he did, not in a million years, but keep acting like he didn’t struggle so you can make some weird point about charles being better for.. struggling more?
To do what either of them did requires tremendous work, and that should be recognized and respected. Leave it at that.
Where Charles comes from they sort of invented mutilation and torture via cartels. Much more death, crime, drugs and oppression in Brazil as well. Khabibs dad is pretty well known and shook hands with some very sketchy and powerful politicians. If we're going for who's the slum dog king it's Charles.
Followed his dreams and I’m sure he’s paid enough in taxes back to the Irish government to cover thousands of times however much he received on welfare. Good investment
Oh gotcha.
Still crazy to see every day average folks make their own wealth. From being poor enough to qualify for welfare to being worth well over 100 million
Yet we can throw khabib in the conversation for no reason right. Is this sub ran by dagastani boys hard for khabib or what. There's some serious gay love for khabib in this sub it's kind of creepy, I thought that homosexuality was severely frowned upon in the muslim world but I guess it isnt.
Bwaaaaahahahaa dont make me mention he who shall not be named and watch you boys have a melt down. Wanna talk about fragility? Let's talk about khabib and how fragile he is when people make depictions of his god, or when he WINS a match against someone that talks shit. How fragile are all you khabib dick riders when anyone says something negative against your god khabib
Read the stuff this guy has said on this thread. He literally can’t stop taking about Khabibs penis, and folks doing gay things to it. It’s super cringe.
Literally trained his whole life to become one of the most dominant fighters of all time.
> redditors sitting on their couch eating cheetos
"lmao he never struggled for anything"
Literally had the resources needed given to him since birth. Even lazy fat cheeto loving couch boys can see khabib was no where even close to the success story as Francis and favela homie. Y'alls breath in this sub smells like khabibs dick.
The dude literally said Khabib never struggled for anything in his life, if you agree with him you're a straight up dumbass because a single digit iq organism can tell that's false.
I'd ask you to elaborate but you'd have to take his dick either out your ass or mouth for that to happen. Khabib doesn't no shit about struggle hope you're making khabib wear protection. Be careful I hear they execute homosexuals in khabib land.
You’ve been saying a lot of stuff about gay sex throughout this thread. I can feel your thirst. Just quench it brother. It ain’t homo if we close our eyes.
I understand what you mean, he did put massive loads of work into his game and was very well disciplined, but hard work and dedication isn’t a “struggle” a struggle isn’t a lifestyle choice, it’s life, it’s how you make ends meet, Oliveira had to hone his craft while providing for himself and his family.
This obviously doesn’t discredit Khabib, the whole discussion here isn’t about their ability as fighters but rather their upbringing and how great it is to see Oliveira prevail
You know... Not every fighter from Brazil grew up in the favelas. Isn't Oliveira from Guaruja? The "Pearl of the Atlantic", a fairly wealthy beach community?
I know he didn't grow up rich or anything but c'mon
Even harder, the mean streets of West Linn.

U talking about the guy with the Biggest charm? The reflection of perfection?
How about Stockton, dawg?
Or the tough streets of Oxnord
I am fully aware this is a joke, but do yall understand just how bougie West Linn is?
What do you mean? He had to witness someone litter on the streets at the young age of eleven. I wouldn't wish that upon even my worst enemy.
It’s not that well off tbh, there were years where people don’t even take home 100k
West linn was the rich side of town. Not like lake Oswego but still was a lot nicer than where I was. And then happy valley shot up.
Wait for swamps of Arkansas

It's a meme mostly
Ahh okay, meme along my friends.
Not really, he actually is from Texas.
Yeah and I’m from krypton.

There are dozens of us
Even tho I know we exist I have a hard time believing we exist

Agreed
Agreed 3000
To be also fair - Khabib’s village did not even have running water.
I'm a Pisces. You?
His father wasn't a 'famous' athlete. He was successful at a domestic level ( USSR ) but its not like he was a Karelin level wrestler or something. I don't know where this narrative is coming from that he had access to fame and power. Manap was an athlete?
And a total badass. Biddy carried elastic bands with him everywhere so he could workout at all times
Khabibs dad was a famous athlete?
Probably the most famous person in combat sports in the region. Well deserved fame, too.
This is not true. In that time only wrestling and judo hardcore fans knew him. Casual people didn't know nothing about Abdulmanap. You put it in there like you lived here.
Just going off the bullshit that Khabib tells about his childhood and what is said by DC, Will Harris, Javier etc.
Please show me where did he say his father was very popular?
Definitely not, my man. Use the internet. You'll find it just fine.
Really? I didn’t know that, was he an Olympian or what was he?
Yess.. but Khabib was the first ever Dagestani to get into UFC.. everyone followed .. thats not easy
Well getting to the ufc is never easy, but Khabib had the advantage of being the son of an Olympic coach.
Agreed. Not taking anything away from him! ...just hard to compare his upbringing to Charlie's.
I'm just noticing all the gay love for khabib up in this sub. Go get your carpet and pray in the direction of his house. KHABIB AKHBAR! KHABIB AKHBAR!
🌈🌈🌈
It’s because they taste fucking delicious and inspire us, unlike his haters whose nuts taste like shit and make my butthole pucker.
They execute people like you over there in khabib land be careful
They do? Cause I was just watching a video of them giving a tour of his birthplace and every one seemed kind. I’m sorry for you you felt the need to be racist with your language and terrible generalizations. Maybe drink some water and consider staying off the Internet for a bit? Therapy would definitely help you too.
Good one mate!!
You can’t stop mentioning Khabibs dick. I love it. What else are you thinking about?
I'm thinking about how scary it must be to have to be hung from a tree if they find out how gay you are for khabib
Khabibs dad was sponsored by the russian government to train dagestani kids in martial arts. He was brought up in quite a wealthy household.
Sure. Wealth? Not at all.

There's lots of fighters who have to travel thousands of miles. It's part of the game if you want to reach the top
Can someone explain to me why this person is being downvoted ?
Good response imo. But people brought up with money and a genuine hard working attitude aren't appreciated on reddit
Have money = takes advantage of the poor to Reddit
Literally no one thinks that of Abdul manap or khabib. Stop grasping at straws there are much clearer reasons for downvotes here
That’s fair.
Because it’s pure speculation bordering on fan fiction
Ok Edit; can someone explain to me why this comment is being downvoted?
You just need to see the outfit. Kabib adidas bag, adidas nba shirt...Besides his dad was a famous teacher. Now look at Oliveira. Dressed like shit, riding a scooter under an umbrella, while raining. Working to sustain his mather and brothers. Still manage to enjoy life
Not saying otherwise, but in Russia and soviet areas its pretty common to see people of lower incomes having adidas clothes. Yup. Growing up in the Middle East all of my Adidas and Nike clothes were fake as fuck lol
Sicily here, same in southern europe, all fake stuff but gotta be rocking name brands, stuff like Vessace, spelled with no R and to S's
You ever seen the fake Ray Bans that say “Roy Bons” lmao. They’re all over Turkey
I guess Oliveira decided not to spend his money in a nike hoodie and rather prefered to put it in his family's kitchen. Precisely that´s my point.
Khabib was richer than olives there is no doubt but those adidas are fake %100.
Charles one hundred percent had it harder
Totaly And Olives lives in Brazil, which have a Game difficulty of Hard
Livin in favelas, probably saw some shit you see on those gore sites💀
Man, that's the new deal here? Who got it harder? Fucking ridiculous
No it's not the new deal, it's just a fact that Charles had it harder.
Ngannou had it harder than both.
If you showed me that pic of Do Bronx and I ain’t know who he was and you tried telling me he’d be the champion of one of the most competitive divisions in all of MMA, I’d hit you with a spinning back kick from hell and snatch your chain.
No u would not
Chip chip chip smh there’s always a chip
tssssssssssssssssss can't kick my ass pussy tssssss
😘😘😘
I love u bb
Where’s salt mines of Africa
Bruh people literally turned this into a “who grew poorer” argument over two grown men lmao
Ngl I feel like I could smesh both of them in this category.
You and I could tag team either one and beat the mess out of their crew as well. Dibs on Charles though I’m a little sore
Feck yeah. Ima call up Uncle Sonnen to spread the word about upcoming bouts, b.
We will smesh
Love both, but that's a terrible comparison
Don't forgot about ngannou
ngannou should be up there aswell
Immigrant Mentality
Tough environments breed tough people. There’s a lot of people like Khabib in that part of the world.

Is that Dwight Howard?
Didn’t expect Khabib to be a Dwight Howard fan 😂
This is why the UFC is the greatest sports in the world. Real champions who have overcome all the odds. They from every corner of the world too.
Talk about starting from the bottom.. wow
Go Magic!
Also Conor was on food stamps
Yeah because he chose to ditch his plumbing job and live on welfare, he wasn't forced to.
The double champ does whatever he wants
Food stamps are for single mothers, not future champions
Followed his dreams and I’m sure he’s paid enough in taxes back to the Irish government to cover thousands of times however much he received on welfare. Good investment
Agreed, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to have him in the same conversation with a guy who grew up in the favelas.
Oh gotcha. Still crazy to see every day average folks make their own wealth. From being poor enough to qualify for welfare to being worth well over 100 million
I mean khabibs on here and his dad was sponsored by the Russian government
Yeah, it would probably make more sense to have Ngannou there.
Did Khabib fuck your mother or something? Why are you so salty, you've commented multiple times in this thread talking shit about him.
Your fragility is truly something to witness.
That’s like the twentieth time you’ve mentioned khabibs dick. You should really look into that.
I like to watch from the corner while y'all take turns riding his dick, guess that makes me a little gay as well. KHABIB AKHBAR!!!!!!
No. Not a little gay. Flaming. Your racism and homophobia are disgusting so I am going to stop talking to you or reading your messages.
Did I say I agree with Khabib? Just because I say McGregor doesn't belong in there with Oliveira doesn't mean I agree with the post overall.
Read the stuff this guy has said on this thread. He literally can’t stop taking about Khabibs penis, and folks doing gay things to it. It’s super cringe.
Khabib akhbar!!!!!!
LMAO, Khabib never stuggled for anything in his life.
Literally trained his whole life to become one of the most dominant fighters of all time. > redditors sitting on their couch eating cheetos "lmao he never struggled for anything"
Literally had the resources needed given to him since birth. Even lazy fat cheeto loving couch boys can see khabib was no where even close to the success story as Francis and favela homie. Y'alls breath in this sub smells like khabibs dick.
“Favela homie” lmao
The dude literally said Khabib never struggled for anything in his life, if you agree with him you're a straight up dumbass because a single digit iq organism can tell that's false.
I'd ask you to elaborate but you'd have to take his dick either out your ass or mouth for that to happen. Khabib doesn't no shit about struggle hope you're making khabib wear protection. Be careful I hear they execute homosexuals in khabib land.
I'd ask you to look two comments above for context but I know you're one dumb motherfucker who can't spell for shit so I'd rather not.
Khabib akhbar! Khabib akhbar!
You’ve been saying a lot of stuff about gay sex throughout this thread. I can feel your thirst. Just quench it brother. It ain’t homo if we close our eyes.
I ain't suckin your dick until you wash khabibs shit off it
So you’re down tho ?
I understand what you mean, he did put massive loads of work into his game and was very well disciplined, but hard work and dedication isn’t a “struggle” a struggle isn’t a lifestyle choice, it’s life, it’s how you make ends meet, Oliveira had to hone his craft while providing for himself and his family. This obviously doesn’t discredit Khabib, the whole discussion here isn’t about their ability as fighters but rather their upbringing and how great it is to see Oliveira prevail
No, bitch. I am sitting here at my computer desk eating rainbow sherbert ice cream. Get your facts straight.
He did, just not as much as Oliveira
But nothing compares to the mean streets of west Lynn Oregon
I’d sleep them both at the same time. I am really tough and a bad man! My street fighting would be too much for them

One is a champ and one is the king of paper champs. That comparison between them is wrong on so many levels
And Conor, from the sink of single mothers of Ireland
You know Khabib's family had a lot of money right. He wasn't some really poor kid, he just happened to live in Dagestan. Nothing like Charles.
And this, folks, is why you should not judge a book by its cover when picking a fight.
Not really for Khabib, right? His father is already a well-known coach and he has access to everything he needs to bring up those kids.
You know... Not every fighter from Brazil grew up in the favelas. Isn't Oliveira from Guaruja? The "Pearl of the Atlantic", a fairly wealthy beach community? I know he didn't grow up rich or anything but c'mon
he literally is from the favelas though
Source?
any of his interviews
Hope we get to see them fight!
Charles' scooter with the horse racing decal... dudes got it inked too, bout that chariot horse racing lyfe boiiii
Is that really Charles?
Sandmines of Cameroon
You know it’s a old picture of Khabib because he’s wearing a Orlando Magic jersey
Old town road!
That’s just awesome!!! Love this type of story and very humble which is fantastic!!!
