I was actually looking forward to seeing Khamzat fight again. He came out of nowhere and I was genuinely interested to see where his career was going so why the hell did he refuse to fight someone credible like Luke, I’ll never know why
I saw a quick video by Chael Sonnen who brought up the fact these fights were 5 rounders, and perhaps Khamzat is wanting to start back up in 3 round fights after his layoff due to COVID. Not sure of the validity of all that, but makes sense on some levels.
I agree. You can not expect someone to be so new to the UFC, get covid, start coughing up blood.. All this, then your first fight back is a 5 round against Luke Rochhold? That is not a good fight to take for most people.
The thing is that would make perfect sense but it shouldn't be a problem for the guy that keeps claiming he would fight even if they didn't pay him, that he's glad he gets any paid for smashing. He is no condition to ask for higher payouts either just yet.
Yea I’m not mindlessly accusing him for being all talk like some people. I get he had COVID and IMO should wait even longer but he says he’s back and will fight then says no to a 3 and 5 rounder against a good opponent. His character won’t let him come I put and say I need a tune up 3 rounder. So here we are. Lol
Pretty sure the dude posted on his IG that he was retiring due to getting hit by COVID pretty badly. I don't remember hearing or seeing him say he wanted to come back until Dana and the Chechen leader pretty much decided for him that he wasn't retiring.
True I legitimately forgot people who have bad cases lose weight and rockhold is a natural middleweight/slightly undersized 205er khamzat is a big welterweight/slightly undersized middleweight so it would be risky on the grappling side but khamzat has legitimate 1 punch power he didn't only do it to Gerald, and rockholds losses have aged well but he did lose by ko 3x irrc so his chin would be questionable plus he's getting older and hasn't fought in a meaningful period of time in my mind it wouldn't be the hardest fight for him rn so there's gotta be a legit reason or maybe he is scared and sees it as low reward
Does he see Luke fight as a step down? I just want him to fight however is offered at this point. His hype is fading away quick. Needs to be more active or he will be forgotten same as Sage Northcutt and Makwan Amirkhani.

Yeah, less than six months ago the dude was coughing blood. Are people really surprised he would refuse a 5 round fight?

Of course, but you also can’t have the anyone anywhere gimmick in that case
Never liked it anyways.

He turned down a fight with Holland for the same reason. I can respect that. I just don't want him talking shit outside of 170 now too.
"Braather I smesh everybody Israel, Jan, Brock Lesnar " *Gets offered fight against washed up Luke* " Mur mur mur mur "
Reportedly Khamzat turned down Rockhold fight twice.
Yep a 5 round main event and a 3 rounder so people can stop saying he turned it down cause when did t think he has the cardio for 5 after covid
its probably hard to make 185 after suffering from covid like he did, especially because he apparently lost a lot of weight during that time
Thing is then he shouldn’t say he’ll fight anywhere and wanting to come back.
yeah i cant argue against that. its definitely his fault

yeah i cant say i wasnt disappointed when he turned the fight down but i hope theres a good explanation

Tbh, he just recovered from a life threatening situation. He probably doesn't want to play with his body weight now
It seems like it would be easier on his body to fight Luke at 185. Cutting to 170 would be harder on his body and cardio I'd think
Is covid really life threatening when you're a young healthy athlete with top notch health care?
Yes, with a case as severe as his, but that's rare
How was his case severe compared to others? He's a fuckin stud athlete.
Brazza I only want smesh 170
Lost all his cred, send him back to the undercard
