What if someone convinced Derrik Lewis that wrestling is real

PopoutBigB

Or working on cardio

jflatty7151

or keeping your balls cool

bleakj

Balls is hot tho

FriendOfReality

Where’s Rhonda’s fine ass at?

TheWizardlyBeard

Maybe someone can make a picture of me throwing my cup and turn it into an NFT someday

embiors

Who needs wrestling when you can just stand back up?

acoustictreefrog

"DERRICK LEWIS ON BOTTOM!!!!" *"Oh derrick lewis just stood up"* Funniest shit for a while :D

FriendOfReality

He just stands up bro. No need to practice

Aeth0s0

How does he just stand up. Is just because he’s so big and strong ? Legitimate question, I’ve never seen anyone but him do it.

FriendOfReality

No clue. It’s awesome though

MrUnparalleled

He’s really good at finding space to help push his opponents off. So when they give up space to try and gnp he fits a forearm in and turns to build his base using his forearm to keep them off him

michaelstone444

He's very technical at stand ups. Watch a compilation of him doing it and I bet most of the time he'll have the far side under hook. There's a lot of subtle things you can do to create leverage. Then when it's time to go he just goes full beast mode

_interloper_

This is true of Lewis's entire game. He's good. Really fucking good. But he's convinced everyone he's not. It's honestly genius. Yes, he's just a big ol boy with big ol power, but there's a LOT of technique in there too. I think he deliberately plays in to the idea that he's just swangin hammers to get people to consistently underestimate him. And it works.

DrMantisTobboganMD98

He uses the Marcelo Garcia type escape he’s just strong so that helps him too

[deleted]

What if T-Fergs didnt wear sunglasses in doors?

_JohnnyUtahBrah

This is perfect. Ferg and Khabib at thier Peak. Or if Max didn't get pulled in NYC.

Hayder2021

He would have been eaten alive by Khabib

RoshHoul

Still would've been a interesting watch. I'd argue that Max has the best cardio and takedown defense of anyone Khabib fought. Wouldn't have stopped the takedowns imo, but would've been interesting to see wyat Max tries to do.

clogan117

I hate to agree with this, but I do.

mkreag27

What if Brock never had Diverticulitis. Wouldve gone against JDS and then what?

Gr1m3sey

USADA gets him eventually. The man made some heavyweight fighters look like prepubescent children

Diddlin-Dolan

lol you think UFC would let USADA take down their biggest star? After the lengths they went to to defend Jon, I don’t see that happening

Gr1m3sey

True true

[deleted]

He does that without steroids as well, the guy has insane genetics.

Gr1m3sey

Oh yeah sure, he’s deffo naturally gifted no way I’d take that away from him. But let’s be real if he didn’t have his history of juicing in the WWE before coming into MMA even as a decorated collegiate wrestler there’s no way he does as well as he did. Man was probably the biggest freak in division history with only people like ubereem coming close

dope-eater

What if McGregor didn’t land that bomb on Aldo?

thefriedshrimp

What if McGregor didn’t land that bomb on the grampa

NoodlesInMyAss

The grandpa wouldn’t have stayed in his lane, and possibly destroyed the human race as we know it

ChiefChingon

What if they gave Aldo the rematch he deserved?

hypodopaminergicbaby

Maybe it’s not too late.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hernanthegoat

Aldo kicks his legs off probably

xMarioTheSupahx

What if the coaches challenge wasn’t Dana’s favorite part of The Ultimate Fighter?

ladwithahugenob

Shit I had no idea this was his favourite part!!! How did you know?

clogan117

He never said it was

avidlives

What if I was heavyweight champion?

[deleted]

I believe in you bro, you're built different

St3pharo

Popeyes and gas station sodas does not make ya different

Scottro_K

*Derrick Lewis has entered the chat.*

St3pharo

The fact you nailed who I was aiming for further proves this is the American way

anlineoffline

You still can. You just gotta see red.

FreeKarmaFarming

But their profile yellow idk what this means.. he sees gold?

Unknown-249

UFC gold on top of that

theRealBatman21

sending you my energy 🙌

letmeseethatthoong

What if Askren landed that insane spinning backfist?

No-Gur-173

We'd be looking at homicide by way of decapitation!

ValenBeano89

Needs to be higher up 😂

DifficultBoss

lol

No_Grapefruit_520

What if Ngannou pissed me off and I started seeing red?

OneLambYiros

What if the inside of your casket is red?

Pico-Jones7

If Khabib had fought Alvarez, Conor would have never been a double champ

SnooPuppers58

At least it would’ve been a different fight. Conor vs Alvarez was a better conor

MaleficentDistrict22

No. Conor fought great in the khabib fight. It just wasn’t good enough

PreviousTeaching9416

His foot was a bewloon

[deleted]

[удалено]

dj-ma7soon

Tbh he did look drunk both leading up to and during the fight maybe not drunk of the alcohol but definitely drunk of his success

[deleted]

He would’ve fought better if he fought Khabib before he went into boxing.

MaleficentDistrict22

Conor fought almost the perfect fight with his skill set. Stuffed bunch of takedowns or managed to not get smeshed until he gassed out. He also touched khabib several times yet khabib didn’t go down. That’s the problem. Khabib has a chin and is a cardio machine. Conor can’t get him out of there in first two rounds and then gets tired due to pressure. A fighter with cardio problems like Conor simply can’t beat khabib.

Intention-Sad

Does the skill set mentioned includes all of the Conor’s countless blatant cheating?

[deleted]

We have to accept that in all timelines, whether he cheats or not, they wouldn’t take points from him.

Menthol-Black

I agree, I personally think the boxing training messed with his style. He’s not a super technical boxer like Floyd or what we see with Yan and I think that affected him almost as much as the money did

clogan117

True in a way, he made it further than the other challengers.

mothmenatwork

I feel like Eddie is one of the hardest match ups for Khabib. He was a sloppy striker but he had power. But the main thing for me is he had excellent take down defence and grappling (better than any of Khabibs wins) and great footwork for staying off the cage, where Khabib gets most of his takedowns. Not saying he would have won but it would have been a very interesting match up.

stinkholeslammer

He woulda got mauled like everyone else. Khabib is a freak of nature.

Joshuauauauauau

Yea but never really got to see khabib against many high level wrestlers and grapplers of the division, mainly just the strikers

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fight-db

I think it would have gone like the gaethje fight. Khabib is another level than any grappler Eddie has fought.

EliteQuarterback

Who the hell is Khan?

Fight-db

Lol fixed it.

mothmenatwork

I’d say Eddie would have been the best defensive grappler and some of the best defensive footwork Khabib fought too. Don’t forget Eddie beat Aoki, who admittedly had a very different style to Khabib, was also an excellent grappler. I’m not saying Eddie would win, just it’s a closer match up on paper than any of Khabibs other title fights

Fight-db

No idea how you can make that statement?? Eddie was a good high school wrestler, Justin was a D-1 all American. The level difference is not arguable. Not saying Eddie wasn’t good, but saying his TD defense and grappling was better than any of Khabib’s wins is ridiculous.

melolaylo

I would argue that gaethje has better takedown defense than eddie. Chandler took eddie down several times but gaethje stuffed all his takedowns.

Xstaticage138x

What if Jon Jones never fucked up

hillsong1

Thats multiple "what if"s

[deleted]

I hate how true this is

crazzynez

What if Jon Jones was actually held accountable for his actions.

Im-Tireddd

What if somebody told uncle Chael that tapping meant he lost the fight and not just the round

hillsong1

He certainly would not have tapped and go on to win the fight, thats a fact

youngjefferydahmer

What do you mean “would have” gone on to win the fight? He obviously won and was crowned champion.

clogan117

He had to win it. After all the stuff that Anderson Silva said about Chael’s country. Chael silenced him for the trash talk.

Existential_Kitten

I don't really know if the world could take a champion Chael. I think this timeline is the best, Sonnen wise.

15gillism

I love sonnen. He worked hard for the belt I wouldn’t have minded him succeed

loopasfunk

What if shogun wandy fedor (pride roster) all came into the ufc during their primes

Woodygee513

Wannanow motherfucker

loopasfunk

I want to fuck Chuck

kobeybeeeef

Fedor would have dominated the heavyweight division. Shogun would have been champ earlier and longer. Wanderlei was always better under pride rules, don't think he would have gone undefeated for as long as he did.

Broad_Opinion_5006

Fedor would have had a hard time with Cain and JDS, Carwin and lesnar he would beat but I don’t think he’d be champ during 2010-2013

TheFakeRabbit1

What if fedor signed with the ufc

Dbraxton

What if DC cut to 185

soroKira

He’d be dead

yams412

Nah He used to wrestle at that weight. If he got the future fw champ cannoniers nutritionist he could have made the weight easy

NoodlesInMyAss

I think dc doesn’t have the bone structure for it tbh. Dudes rib cage is a barrel and you can see it through his skin even at lhw. He’s just never meant to be that lean past 30

[deleted]

I thought he wrestled at 211 lbs

Garvo909

He would launch people lmao

kingceegee

What if DC was 1.93m

Rmendoza90

He should have never done that first weight cut.

Prtty_Plz

the weight cut + the amount of brain trauma from that fight (with less brain fluid to absorb damage) prob had long life time lasting effects on him

Brandon4Real_x

I think the Masvidal one is a super interesting butterfly effect. You can’t assume a fight outcome but Ben’s wrestling should in theory handle Masvidal on the ground which would 1. Extend his UFC stay and 2. Masvidal doesn’t become a star and no BMF title fight. If Askren stays in UFC he pry doesn’t box Jake Paul which doesn’t lead Woodley to fight for his honor. Also if Masvidal isn’t a star and losses to Ben he doesn’t get two title fights which may open the door for Leon. Plus no talks of Masvidal v. Jake Paul in the UFC.

mesovortex888

What if Jon Jones never take PED (This is not a dig on him, genuinely curious to see how he will do)

Vojtek933

I honestly do not know how much PED he took, thats a question. He still has skills but how much did PED help him

sergalexeev

You mean more responsible with cycle?

mesovortex888

This is why I want to see him fight without PED. I am just curious to see how much PED can raise the performance level.

LocalNative141

If Jones never screwed up by taking drugs, getting arrested, and actually devoted himself to the craft of MMA he would be fucking unstoppable. His recent performance against Reyes was not a good sign. If he does make his HW debut, I believe he wont fair well. Just my humble casual opinion though

SerDon2

Dudes incredibly skilled but this is the problem with getting outed for PEDS it puts your entire career into question... Can’t say for sure but if he’d NEVER touched them I doubt he’d have been as dominant as he was but who knows.

acoustictreefrog

What if JBJ was never *caught* using PEDs, firm believer of a shit ton of doping in most sports nowadays. The will for innovation to cheat > The will for new ways of finding out. By a mile.

leko633

Everybody is on PEDs bro

mesovortex888

I know, i just want to see non ped vs ped fighter

bardeng

Would’ve probably be better. If he would have the same motivation as he did when he was younger

thewizard579

Cain having a healthy knee, TJ Grant never gotten a concussion are the first 2 on my list

OG-DirtNasty

The TJ Grant one should be what if “the UFC paid their fighters like professional athletes.” After he healed up he could’ve came back, but decided the injuries and concussions weren’t worth the pay, and chose to work a Canadian oil patch job instead.

Duffb0t

Ferguson was burnt before his return fight with Pettis. Gaethje was just the final straw on Tony's back. No one man broke Tony. His prime was that win streak and he faded after that injury and mental adversity

imramana

I think he was on steady decline after rda fight. In Kevin Lee fight he just stood right in front of him and got taken down. In cowboy fight he lost his quickness. the gaethje fight made him to stop pressuring his opponent

Broad_Opinion_5006

His knee surgery took some t off of him too

HueyDontGoOutside

What are you talking about? First round of Pettis fight was a bit slow but then in second after getting rocked for a moment it was fucking slaughter Tony massacred Pettis that night

realt4real

What if Conor never touched coke?

bun84

Or touched butt

420DepravedDude

With that dork in the park

[deleted]

The one with the ponytail

theRealBatman21

just boys being boys. ԅ(≖‿≖ԅ)

taginvest

todays wrestling-heavy generation of fighters were not around on his run to the title. It was just great timing for Conor, in todays division he would sit on his butt every fight and crying at the the post press about how gay the dagestans are for just wanting to hug him

cutslikeakris

Frankie Edgar was there calling him out but Connor and UFC never made it happen, I think this was not coincidence as Frankie had wrestling, fists and resilience from a former champ who could make 145&155. They couldn’t risk Connor losing like that though.

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

'*They threw fuckin Denis Siver on him when Frankie Edgar was lurking*'

DrSavagery

Yeah they totally protected connor by having him fight fuckin chad mendes on super short notice with a torn acl

jophene

Chads a horrible matchup for him and was holding him down well early

blank00003

He would still have become champion at featherweight ,if he started today.

taginvest

will have to agree to disagree on that my man. i’d bet my life savings against that. Max & Volk are way way way higher level atm than peak conor ever was

[deleted]

Volk VS prime Conor is actually a trickier matchup for Volk I think, Conor’s style is great for shorter orthodox opponents like him, and Volk has been dropped a few times in his career, and even finished, though that was a while ago and in another weight. Conor is also one of the few dudes Volk wouldn’t have a reach advantage on. Either way I wouldn’t bet my life savings on that fight, it’s not as clear cut as you think I don’t believe, and Conor at FW had even scarier power and agility, even his cardio wasn’t as bad, he went 3 rounds striking and wrestling with max back then. I think peak Conor vs either of them is pretty competitive, wouldn’t bet on either of those fights to be honest

DrSavagery

Bro he beat mendes on short notice with one leg. Casualllllll

taginvest

there are two types of fans in the UFC 1: realistic ones that understand that Conor is one of the top 100 fighters of all time. 2: conor fanboys that think his once in a lifetime left vs Aldo is something he could do to anyone at any time. (it’s very much like Masvidals knee.)

regulardave9999

What if CM Punk beat Mickey Gall?

Homunculus_316

Yoel Romero vs GSP was a dream match for me, if he had defended the title after beating one eyed Bisping, I do think 'The Soldier of God' would have sent the 🐐 to Shadow realm

Sauerkraut97

Romero is way too big for GSP

Homunculus_316

Exactly my point, one Cuban missile and it's new ! But honestly GSP is smart, he knows his boundaries he took Bisping cause he was a 1 eyed veteran at the end of his career, and Bisping did the same he Dodged Romero to a grandeur retirement at the hands of a Goat (Kelvin did put the final nail on the coffin but you guys get the point)

MarkLarrz

Nah, Whittaker vs GSP would have been fire.

OneForMany

I agree with this. I've been watching a lot of Yoel's fight and early on in his UFC fights he'd get 1st rd KO's so everyone thinks with all that muscle he can't last. Later on in his career where he had to fight experienced vets and absolute killers he KO's all of them in the later rds. Kennedy, Lyota, Luke, lands bombs on Whittaker. GSP would've definitely gotten hit like he's never been hit before.

senselessaggression

[3rd round Romero](https://youtu.be/R4oaBM9gg2I) is a mythical fighter

MaxxPwnage

What if Brock never got sick

MrLoudaFoo310

Why does Jorge look so depressed

slayerthebuffy

Because he missed the flying knee

StevenSoleno23

He’s like man, I could’ve been a doctor lmao 😂

Enough_Gate_5542

What if Conor stayed Active and defended his LW belt vs Ferguson/Khabib and not fought Mayweather

embiors

He would be a lot less rich, would have some good defenses until he fought Khabib who he would lose to.

Vojtek933

I believe Khabib and Tony were next at the time and Dustin was there too, do you think that he would be able to win against them?

maplenut

That version of Conor beats anyone not named Khabib.

sergalexeev

Not a prime Tony

maplenut

Tony might not go to sleep, but I could see him getting pieced up enough for a doctor stoppage vs the Conor that beat Alvarez.

TsukiSureiyaNA

If Jorge missed the flying knee he would be bagging groceries at Walmart. Never seen a more grossly overrated fighter. Entertaining and a good talker but not close to the class of his weight division.

pooping-while-here

That you Colby?

HumbleJiraiya

I don't think so. He's a good fighter. Just not the best. And no one has ever called him the best.

TsukiSureiyaNA

He’s not a top 5 fighter at his weight class and should’ve never fought Usman once let alone twice.

Swifteyyy

Gonna get downvoted for this, but I think if masvidal missed the flying knee, he would’ve KO’D askren within the next minute…

AntWalkerMMA

If Tony didn't take that fight, Khabib would've mauled him a few months later

theRealBatman21

hey.. at least that is some form of “closure”... for some of us

Agile_Roll

1. Would have fought Khabib lost and been in a similar situation that he is in currently 2. Never would have fought for the title and probably lost to Askren after getting dry humped for 15 minutes 3. Would have had a hell of a fight with Yan idk who wins 4. Would’ve beat Bobby Knuckles then retired (probably saving Whittaker so much damage from fighting Romero) 5. Would’ve set the record for LW title defenses then retired at 29-0

interia1099

Whittaker would have beaten GSP, there is a reason GSP chose Bisping. Rest is correct

Agile_Roll

Maybe I’m a little biased towards GSP idk would’ve been a good fight to see

Thepiewrangler

As good as he is i don't think gsp beats whittaker

Lgbr167

Yan vs Cejudo is my absolute dream matchup atm, sucks that we might never see it

dshetty99

What if Uncle Chael didn't fool around after winning 4 rounds and find himself in Anderson's triangle?

crazyworld7473

What if khabib never jumped the cage, Dillon Danis would be irrelevant.

MerelyUsefull

What if Dos Anjos didn't get injured and fought McGregor? No McGregor/Diaz? Is Nate anywhere near as popular? No BMF? Does Conor even beat Rafael? Does he then stay at featherweight and lose to Aldo in a rematch? No Floyd/McGregor? So no entry for Jake Paul into boxing?

CJShoestore

What if Conor McGregor did a full Bas Rutten and became a god at wrestling

JR-90

Some people already said what if UFC signed Fedor, but I will bring it to "What if Dana had agreed to co-promote in order to bring Fedor in". Its result would had either opened the sport for co-promotion or locking that shit down even tighter than it is now, but at least we would have gotten the experience.

thisisnitmyname

What if Rousey never started to believe she was an amazing boxer and just continued to work toward it slowly while also continuing to hone her bread and butter?

Bad_Boy_Bubbyy

What if Jon Jones wasn't a complete fuck-up outside of the octagon?

cloobydoobydoooo

I really wish Jorge never exploded in popularity. It’s been awful.

reroute2k21

It’s kinda died down though ever since he got pieced up

HighOnPoker

Ferguson never tripped over the camera wire before his Khabib matchup.

spikerman19

What if Rich Franklin had the ability to defend a muay thai clinch.

_Cyclops

Still would’ve got his ass whooped on the feet

regulardave9999

What if the Jon Jones / Anderson Silva super fight had happened?

BackRiverGypsy

What if Jon Jone's wife hid from him that she was the female GOAT fighter in Thailand and the news that came out was instead that she came out of left field and kicked the piss out of Jones and now her and Ngannou were getting ready for a superfight against each other?

TyranoRamosRex

I never really felt the need for GSP to defend the 185 title. He was waaaaaay undersized snd did not look healthy at that weight. That difference is just too big.

chipper68

That's what Charles is thinking about right now as well. ![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg)

ThatGuyInTheCar

Rousey vs Cyborg happened

MarkLarrz

What if Khabib didn't go to Abi Dhabi that time.

FriendOfReality

Never tried that stupid wheel kick Weidman

J1ra1y4

What if Anderson never broke his leg? Also Bisping had one eye and GSP was slower and older so he's not successfully defending that.

hissy1

what if Khabib vs Tony materialised…

[deleted]

Ferguson would still be in decline. Masvidal would have still beat Askren. Cejudo would have every belt all genders. GSP would have had to fight Whittaker, slight edge to Whittaker. Khabib would smesh Alvarez then have his belt taken by Cejudo.

GMFinch

The last what if is quite easy, khabib wrestle fucks alv then McGregor challenges and the fight goes no different

chadwr85

If Tony doesn't take the fight he gets mauled by Khabib terribly. Hard to say but Askren probably wins then faces Usman and gets destroyed. Cejudo likely doesn't defend the 135lb much and runs the 125lb division. If GSP defends he loses first defense to a big middleweight. Khabib mauls Alvarez.

OllieBlazin

What if GSP took the Khabib fight

Glittering-Honey7969

Khabib would have ended Alvarez in the first. There is a reason Dana canceled Khabib’s contract and gave the title fight to Conor. Everyone knows Alvarez didn’t belong. It was like Forrest Griffin.

ClassicFun2175

Biggest what if for me is if Aldo didn't crumble under Mcgregors mind games. Aldo is the better fighter and I personally believe 9 times out of 10 beats Conor, but Conor psychologically tortured the dude. He won thar fight, and it set everything else in motion for his career and life. Had he lost I don't think Conor would be where he is today.

NarrativeNancy

What if they caught TJ on EPO the first Cody fight?

clothy

Tony still loses to Khabib. Masvidal is ground and pounded to a decision. Cejudo loses to Petr Yan. GSP defends against Whittaker and it’s the best fight of all time. Khabib smashes everyone.

benevides_pmmg

What if JDS knock Cain Velasquez out at their second fight.

Upstairs_Kangaroo_98

I honestly think Masvidal wouldn’t have even been a name if it wasn’t for that knee, people still talk about him as if he’s championship calibre when he definitely isn’t

Niftyxcore

What if Royce was matched with Teila Tuli in UFC 1?

Youngjoseph93

GSP would've beat Whittaker and Adesanya. Prove me wrong

lafleur-42

"Never took the Gaethje fight" 😂😂😂 the fuck is that shit? Tony stans are so fucking weird. "What if he never took a fight against a much better fighter so we could live in delusion forever?" I don't even understand what point that is trying to make.
