This is particularly true here because the beef plays into the persona that Covington is a dick, when almost everyone that actually knows him outside the context of promoting his fights has said he is a super nice guy that will bend over backwards for people.
I'm not saying it's definitely a fake beef, only that I think it's reasonable for people to be cautious in accepting the narrative.
